Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
paradox13 9/21/2012 1:13:00 PM
I love a good gel liner. They are easy to work with, smudge proof, crease proof... get yourself a nice brush and wing away. Considering my love for a black liner, I was super excited to see the new maybelline gel liner.... and it came with a brush !!!! (i am a brush hoarder - so this was <3 even before i used it) I should have not got my hopes too high. The formula is smooth, creamy and has not dried out on me (have it since 2 months now) . The liner goes on black and crisp - but as it dries it becomes a lighter black. I have super oily eyelids and this thing smudges and goes everywhere - eyelids, down my face ..... urgh. I use it with a primer and an eye shadow (to set) and that helps with the smudging but still no staying power. this reminds me of the bobbi brown liners - they do the same thing on me. But I dont think Maybelline has as many colors as BB. on a side note - I love the brush. it is a small synthetic brush and for a freebie , it is good. I have used it as a lip brush too. washes well too. my hunt continuous ...
I have a mixed feeling about this one. I got mine at Target for $13.99 in the shade tan (i am nc 43 and have oily skin ). the foundation promises to be long wearing and has SPF 15. I think the color match for me is excellent. the foundation goes on well (i use a flat top brush/fingers) and does not dry before you get a chance to blend. The foundation comes with SPF 15 which is nice and does not smell funky. I like the finish - its not flat matte but still matte. Comes with a pump and is nicely packaged. the problem i have with this foundation is that A, it is not long wearing and B, it changes color through the day. Even with/without primer or setting powder , this foundation turns muddy-orangy. After it oxidizes , it goes away after 4-5 hrs. To me, long wearing means at least 8 hours of wear with 1-2 touchups. This foundation does not deliver.
Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
paradox13 9/19/2012 11:02:00 AM
love love love this mascara! never thought i will find a mascara that can give me length and volume and will not flake. Lets talk about the good things first. It can lengthen, it coats my lashes well (without building a million layers), creates volume, easy to get off , holds my curl.... and it is cheap . it does not flake, smudge, have a crazy big wand or irritate my eyes(contact wearer hello!) now the downsides - it is a little hard to get a hold off. i got mine in walgreens but i haven't seen jordana in all DS. It can clump and is not the blackest of mascaras. First time i used this mascara , it was clump city! I wiped the wand and after that there is just enough product on the wand to get the job done. I love this mascara and will continue to repurchase. Buying 2/3 backups next time i am at walgreens
Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Last Under Your Spell 216A
paradox13 2/29/2012 10:33:00 AM
love this black based polish that has tiny red shimmer. it almost looks burgundy from far. On my tan skin tone , its beautiful in winter. The polish is free of toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde - not many drugstore polishes are formulated this way. You would definitely need two coats of this polish. The first coat is streaky and muddy - but the second coat makes it all better. The polish dries fairly fast and leaves a shiny finish (without a topcoat) The big flat brush makes it easy to paint your nails. It wears fairly well too- lasted for 3 days without chipping. Big fan of this color and the polish quality. Running to the store to get more colors
Polishes -Essence - Colour and Go nail polish in Where Is The Party
paradox13 1/20/2012 12:36:00 PM
Ordered this nail polish on a whim. it was 99 cents in ulta site and the color looked nice The color is what drew me to this and yes - its as gorgeous on my nails as it is in the bottle. It is a dual chormy purple that looks pinkish or greenish depending on the light. Gorg! The polish went on smoothly and i do like the brush. It needed 2 coats to get completely opaque. I added a top coat as i did not find the finish as glossy as I would like it to be. The wear-time is ok-ok. It chipped slightly after 2 days but i am hard on my nails. This is my first essence nail polish and i like them . The line has some fun colors that I wanna try
Moisturizers -Korres - Yogurt Cream (Yoghurt Cream)
paradox13 10/11/2011 5:37:00 PM
I got a deluxe sample of this cream. I have been looking for a better moisturizer since we are in fall and winter is right around the corner. I wore it for 2 weeks to see how my oily fussy skin reacts to it. I liked the the consistency of the cream - its not very liquidy or thick. it goes on nicely and absorbs easily - does not have the silicon feeling (yeah) . It does not make me oily throughout the day. keep my skin hydrated without making it feel heavy. It has a mild smell and it does not irritate my skin It is an expensive product - does it do anything special that no cheaper moisturizer cannot do ? No. There are some nice cheaper alternatives. Overall, I will buy the full size for this fall . I may not repurchase
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Aromatherapy lotion in Orange Ginger
paradox13 10/11/2011 5:23:00 PM
Like all BBW lotions i do not find this lotion very moisturizing. BBW scents do not last on me however I layer them I find that the aromatherapy ones last for a long time. This scent is the only aromatherapy scent I liked. As the names suggests its gingery and citrus. (more gingery than citrus) Love it - gives you a blast of freshness without making you smell sweet or very fruity.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - White Citrus

the scent is clean, summery and all the citrus-y goodiness in one package. I have the spray , shower gel, handwash and the antibacterial gel. Highly recommend it if you want like light and fresh scents.
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Orange Sapphire ] [DISCONTINUED]
paradox13 10/11/2011 5:11:00 PM
love the citrus sweet smell. over time, I have got the sanitizer, body lotion , handwash, shower gel - all in orange sapphire. i want to try the candles next
I have gone through tubes and tubes of this product. It is an old favorite - maybe even a holy grail. I use this scrub 2-3 times a week on my face. It removes all the whiteheads and dirt off my skin leaving it smooth. It does not over exfoliate and does not dry out my skin. It is cheap and readily available. I mix this with my body wash and use it to exfoliate my body. It has a pleasant texture and smell - nothing yummy or putting off. The only negative thing i can say about this is that it is not a great exfoliator. It gets the everyday job done. I do need to exfoliate with another product every 15-ish days. A few people have told me that this scratches the skin - i have sensitive oily skin and I have not found this to be irritating. I have tried other products and always come back to this one. It is one of the oldest product in my skin care routine.
I had this mascara on my need-to-try list for a long time - thanks to youtube. I got it in black regular formula. The mascara is very black and does not leave a grey-ish tint to my lashes. It is neither too watery nor dry - i like the consistency. I like the results that this mascara gives my lashes. they look "naturally" thick and long. The mascara does hold my lash curl better than most volumizing/non-waterproof mascaras because the formula is not very thick. The mascara wears decently - i do see a little flaking after a long work day. This does not smudge on me. The wand is what I dislike in this mascara - its bristles are stubby, sharp and short . I have tried to use this mascara a few times and cannot find a way to use the wand without hurting the skin near the base of my lashes. I absolutely hate metallic purple tube. It is too shiny and in your face. I do not know if I will repurchase the mascara - it is a good formula but it has a spiky brush. Maybe if I learn how to use the brush without poking my eyes :)
I love wet and wild products and decided to try their liquid liner in black. Unfortunately - i got what i paid for. It is very liquid-y so it transfers onto my eye lids. It flakes every time I curl my lashes - even after letting it dry completely. A little bit of moisture and this liner smudges like no tomorrow. I have smudges and flakes under my eye area and on my cheeks - I know it is not water resistant but I want my liner to stay till end of my work day. The good stuff about this liner is that it is cheap and I find it easy to wing my liner with this brush. I like the brush applicator. Overall, I will not repurchase this liner - it does not compare to other drugstore liners like Revlon colorstay ink pot.
Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish Sunset Prisms
paradox13 7/15/2011 3:18:00 PM
I was looking for a nice summer coral/orange color and found this on sale in CVS for $ 1.99. In the bottle it looks orange with gold/blue/green shimmer. I love the way this nail polish goes on. it is not at all streaky and with two coats you get smooth tangerine pink/gold nails. This polish is one of the fastest drying nail polish i have used. it also wears well - lasts me 3-4 days without clips the only critic i can think of is that the nail polish needs a top coat for a nice shiny finish and the blue/green shimmer does not transfer on nails. I am going to try more nail polishes from this line.
Everybody raves about lashblast - my friends, youtubers, bloggers. I really tried hard to love this mascara but the only thing i love is the bright orange tube The wand is what I hate the most in this mascara - its bristles are stubby, sharp and short . The wand itself is huge and intimidating to use. I have tried to use this mascara a few times and cannot find a way to use the wand without hurting the skin near the base of my lashes. The wand bristles poke and irritate my eyes. I cannot use the wand on my lower lashes without getting it everywhere on my face. the formula itself is not bad - it is more wet than i would prefer but it is waxy enough to give me volume without making my lashes clumpy or spidery. The waterproof version holds my curl very well and comes off only with a makeup remover. It does not flake or smudge. The very black shade gives my lashes a little gray/brown tint. i am going to try the lashblast length hoping that the skinny wand will be easier to use.
i have been using this mascara since years. I am always in the market to try new mascaras (high end and drugstore) but this is one of the few mascaras that has always stayed in my collection. i use the original, non-waterproof version in blackest black. the mascara has waxy formula and comes with a traditional *normal* sized wand. I have used the one that comes with a curved wand and a normal wand. I like the curved wand better. When you first get the product it is pretty wet. i personally like dry formulas so i let the product dry for a few weeks and then it is perfect The mascara gives me full, voluminous look-at-me lashes without putting on a million coats. I have not had any issues with this faking or smudging on me. Since the formula is thick , it does not hold the curl throughout the day and does have a tendency to clump. i have had this issue with most non-waterproof volumizing mascaras. Overall, this could arguably be my fav mascara. its cheap, easily accessible and volumizing . it makes my avg lashes look great. Edit - I have found a better mascara . Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara gives me the separating and length that voluminous does not. If I feel fancy , I layer the two and my - I have rock star lashes
