Deodorants -Fresh - Roll-on Sugar, Deodorant and Antiperspirant

This didn't even last through a rodeo. LOL. Worse than any roll-on from the drugstore. I can't believe I fell for the hype (well, actually I can, I'm kinda stupid like that).

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

I find it kind of funny that there are so many shades and none match me! This is why I do not wear foundation. However, I thought I'd give it a shot since there were so many colors. I used the shade selector from InStyle magazine to pick my shade; it told me I was a C2 (second-lightest cool shade). I was shocked to see it was so pink! It was almost like the color of a pencil eraser! But I was feeling reckless so I got it. Once I blended and blended, it seemed to disappear into my skin, which was weird since I'm not nearly that pink. Anyway, I thought it was a little dark, so I then tried the lightest cool shade, C1. That one is way too light, but I seem to get something close to my skin if I mix them together. I think actually I might be a mix of the second-lightest neutral and the second-lightest cool shade. And all this fiddle-farting around reminds me once again why I do not wear foundation.

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
rated 5 of 5
palomino 11/28/2003 10:51:00 AM

Everything's pretty much been said about this stuff, so I won't say it all again except for three things: 1. I am very pale and this makes me look healthy. That's hard to do; 2. I'm getting rid of most of my other bronzers because this one is pretty much perfect; and 3. If you have blue or green eyes, try this as eyeshadow. Something about it makes it just the perfect shade of brown to make my eyes pop. I love Warmth!

Brows -New York Color - Browser

This is a cute little thing, and quite unusual for the drugstore. I am very blonde and fair, so I got the blonde one. I found it rather yellow/orange, but the little tweezers and brush work great.

Blush -Alexis Vogel - Alexis Vogel Blush in Fresh
rated 3 of 5
palomino 8/14/2003 10:09:00 AM

Brightens up my pale face with a nice softly shimmery flush, but it's hard to apply sparingly. It's a BRIGHT apricot-pink color. I'm not sure what else to compare it to, except maybe Raspberry Sorbet Blush Delice only pinker and more pigmented.

Lipstick -Alexis Vogel - Alexis Vogel Lipstick in Smooch

When I first looked at this I thought, well, it's bright but it might work for me since I look okay in some bright pinks. The color itself looked fine. But once it's on, look out! It turns dark neon electric fuchsia on me! It's the weirdest ugliest color ever... and not the color in the tube. I like the texture and it lasts, but ugh, that color! It was still on the next morning, LOL. I'm one of those people that some lipsticks turn fuchsia on, and this one did it x100! The only way to save it is to put something else on top.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Intensifique Waterproof
rated 2 of 5
palomino 6/1/2003 7:00:00 PM

I was psyched when I first tried this since it made my lashes really stand out, especially after using a curler. They looked great and I could not stop staring at them! But a few hours later I was not so psyched anymore because the mascara had worn off my lash tips (I have white-blond lashes, so I could tell -- I had two-toned lashes). It also smudges all day long on my undereye area, which is inexcusable. It's not hard to remove at all; in fact it's halfway off by the time I go to remove it anyway. The search for the perfect w/p mascara goes on.

Blush -Aveda - Windburn (loose)

Finally, finally, I have my very own grail blush! This is the color I've been looking for for years in powder form. It's like a bright-ish terracotta with a hint of rose/pink in it. Everything else I've tried in my search for this color has been too dusty or dull. and I don't have access to many brands so it's been a hard search. Anyway, I posted on the MU board looking for a terracotta-pink blush and the fabulous orodwen rec'd this. And darned if it isn't exactly the perfect healthy flush for my cheeks (I like Exhibit A too, but this is even better!) As a PPP I have to be careful to apply lightly. I did have a rough start with this when I klutzily spilled it all over my computer desk, but I have since recovered and am more than willing to put up with the hassles and mess of loose powder because the color is so wonderful. As I told orodwen, if she ever finds a match for this in pressed form, I will give her my firstborn child.

I found this very pale, dull and powdery on my PPP skin. Did not work for me!

Lipstick -Prescriptives - Lipstick - Mauve
rated 4 of 5
palomino 5/20/2003 11:24:00 AM

This a lovely rosy color but too dark and slightly too brown-toned for me (PPP). However it works great to tone down my too-bright, too-red or too-orange lipsticks. Great smooth formula.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Full Colour Eye Definer (all colours)
rated 4 of 5
palomino 5/20/2003 11:06:00 AM

This applies very smoothly with no tugging. PLus there is a little sharpener at the end! I don't know what made me buy this in Pine, a khaki/olive green color with a bit of gold shimmer, but I was totally surprised to see that it looks great on my blue-green eyes! Nice change from brown and black. Navy and purple always look too harsh on me (PPP) but this green works. I'm pleasantly shocked!

Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier
rated 3 of 5
palomino 5/20/2003 10:54:00 AM

This works great (gives me spirally waves) if I mix it with Biolage Gelee. It's just bleh by itself. However it builds up quickly in a gummy way in my hair and the silicones in it make my hair all dry and weird. It's a bit expensive, smells like Herbal Essences and is very sticky in a slippery way on the hands (hard to rinse off after applying). I will probably repurchase and use occasionally, because of the buildup.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - All-Day Lipstick in Mocha Pink
rated 5 of 5
palomino 5/20/2003 10:16:00 AM

This is pretty much almost the perfect lipstick for me. I've been searching for years for a color like this (only paler): a warm rosy pink that brightens my pale face but is not too dark. I do have to apply this lightly for the best effect, but it just makes me look so healthy. There is a very slight shimmer and the tiniest hint of brown to warm it up, which I like. This lipstick lasts very well and is not slippery or greasy at all. I hate reapplying so this is a bonus. I hope they never discontinue this.

Bronzers -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess
rated 5 of 5
palomino 5/20/2003 10:11:00 AM

Finally I have found a bronzer that works for my mega-pale skin! Now people can quit asking me if I am sick, LOL! I wish I had found this years ago, then I never would have wasted so much time and money on bronzers that turned orange (too many to list), looked like dirt (Bonne Bell) or were too glittery (again too many to list). I love that this has just a tiny hint of shimmer to keep it from looking flat. Gives a nice glow! Goes on sheer and can easily be layered for more coverage. The compact is a little large, but that makes it easy to swirl a nice big fluffy brush in, so that's okay. It's a bit costly, but will last a long, long time. The powder tends to escape the compact a little bit sometimes, but I can overlook that. I feel quite glamorous using this after all my cheap drugstore bronzer mistakes!

Blush -Prescriptives - Mystick Swivel
rated 5 of 5
palomino 5/15/2003 7:21:00 PM

At the risk of sounding like a dork (although I know people around here would understand), I have to admit I bought this sight unseen after seeing it on a model in a magazine. I saw the picture and said to myself, "that is the blush I am looking for" and looked up the color in the makeup credits. I waited quite a while because I knew it was expensive, but I finally caved. I'm glad I did, because this blush is great. It blends very smoothly and easily and wears well. I put a tiny bit of powder on top since I have oily skin. I have Swift, which is a sheer warm peachy tan with a faint shimmer. Update: I liked it so much that I also bought Woman, which is the most perfect color for rosy cheeks. Mixing Swift and Woman together gives me the color of blush I've been looking for for years! I'm PPP and finally look healthy! I might never go back to powders.
