Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Baked Eyeshadow-ALL
palefawn 5/20/2013 3:47:00 PM
I love these little baked eyeshadows. I have the colors Toasted and Bark, and they go very well together. Very smooth, pigmented, blend very well, and you get a lot of product in the compact. I've been wearing these two (over primer and an eyeshadow stick base) for going on 7 hours now so far and there's been no fading or creasing. I hope they come out with more colors in this range, I'll probably go back to pick up the plum color. Definitely recommend these shadows.

Liquid -FLOWER Beauty - About Face Foundation
palefawn 2/17/2013 12:01:00 AM
I'm really liking this product. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, so I feel like I've been using it long enough to give an accurate review, but if anything changes, I'll update. I got the shade F1, which is surprisingly almost light enough for my very fair skin (typical redhead skin here, lol). It's neutral-leaning-toward-yellow, but what I love about it, is that it's sheer enough where it cancels out the redness in my skin, but doesn't actually make my skin look yellow. Normally I can't wear foundations with any yellow in them because they just make me look sick and it doesn't go with my skin at all, but this shade is nice and neutral enough/light enough coverage where my skin looks nearly flawless. I use a pretty white setting powder so all-in-all, the foundation being a bit too dark isn't a big deal. You get 1 fl. oz. of foundation, standard size, in a beautiful pump bottle. The packaging on this stuff is really nice and elegant with the rose-gold details and simple design. It feels sturdy and classy. It wears nicely on my oily skin, I haven't found a foundation yet that can stand up to my oil-slick t-zone after three hours, but this foundation doesn't slide off my skin or transfer onto everything in sight (just have to touch up with some mattifying powder every once in a while). Blends easily but sets in a decent amount of time so you're not feeling gross waiting for it to dry. It's kind of a mix between dewy and a natural finish. Hasn't broken me out at all, either. I'm glad Walmart carries this brand, I've strayed away from liquid foundations for a long time but I'll be repurchasing this :)

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser
palefawn 2/10/2013 1:15:00 AM
I got this one day when I went to Walgreens to get my normal Deep Clean Cream Cleanser by Neutrogena, but they were out so I picked this stuff up instead. It didn't help my acne at all, actually made it worse and dried out my skin horribly. Also has a strange unpleasant smell to it that I don't like near my face. Wouldn't repurchase ever.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara
palefawn 2/4/2013 2:24:00 PM
Talk about an unexpected little wonder. I normally hate Covergirl and all of their mascaras, but I was reading reviews on here for this one and thought, eh, it's cheap, I'll give it a shot. I love this stuff. I normally do a pretty bare face every day, just foundation/powder/mascara, so I like to have big lashes. I wasn't expecting much from this, but it gave me wonderful volume, length, nice inky black color. It's one of those mascaras that you can put on in the morning, and put another coat on later at night and it won't clump up or flake on you. Haven't had any issues with smudging or smearing, either. Another plus is that it's good straight away when you buy it, you don't need to let it dry up a bit before it starts working well. I got mine at Walmart for $4.55 with tax, can't beat the price for the quality you're getting.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes
palefawn 1/28/2013 12:38:00 PM
One of my favorite drugstore mascaras. I'm usually not a fan of the rubber spikey wands, but I make an exception for this. It separates lashes really well, while adding volume and a bit of length. I find it works best if you put on a light coat first, and then go back in and add more. Too many coats though can give you spider lashes.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
palefawn 1/27/2013 11:59:00 PM
So, let me start this off by saying that I absolutely hate most Cover Girl products and they have never impressed me. I saw a lot of rave reviews and thought I would try it out to see if it's worth all the hype, and so far I haven't been disappointed. You get 1 fl. oz. of foundation, average for foundation, in a PUMP bottle, which is fantastic. Not only that, but the pump locks as well. It's about a medium-thickness consistency, it's not terribly thick but it's also a lot thicker than, say, L'oreal's True Match foundation. I've noticed a little goes a long way with this, one pump (or less) is about right for my entire face. It blends easily, and has really nice coverage. When I first put it on, I thought it looked weird, but after about ten minutes it was looking flawless. Sets pretty fast too, and it doesn't give me that feeling like it's going to transfer everywhere. I still set it with my Hard Candy Welcome Matte powder out of habit. It's not a completely matte finish, I'd say it's somewhere between... matte and satin? It doesn't make your face look totally flat. Six hours later it's still looking good. I have a really oily t-zone, and I'm used to touching up every couple hours, but my face is still looking good with this! Haven't noticed it oxidizing yet either. One thing that's a bummer for me, and why I knocked off one lippie, is the shade selection. It's a pretty good range, and I got the lightest, 805 Ivory, but it's just a little too dark. I'm used to that with drugstore foundations though, it's hard for Snow White's to find something pale enough for their skin at Walmart or Target. So, I'm hoping they'll expand the range if this foundation gets to be popular enough. Might mix it in with my current Graftobian foundation to lighten it up a bit. Overall, I'm really happy with this, and I would recommend trying it out. I got mine for under $10 at Walmart. ----------------------------------------------- Wanted to update a bit, I mixed it with my Graftobian foundation (Silk Sprite) and it's still going good. Color matches near perfectly now, and it still has the finish of the Cover Girl foundation and seems to be staying shine-free, exactly what I was hoping. It really feels like you're wearing nothing, not mask-like at all (although, I'm used to more full-coverage foundations, if you're used to just a tinted moisturizer or something it may feel a little heavy). Touching my face it still feels like nothing is on it, feels very smooth and skin-like and also photographs well.

Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volume Express
palefawn 1/10/2013 12:33:00 AM
How I wanted to love this mascara so badly, because Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand to get mascaras from (their original Colossal Volum in the yellow tube is my HG). The brush is nice, and it did add volume to my lashes. The reason I'm giving it two lippies is because it smudged like no other mother on me, and I NEVER have issues with mascara smudging. By some miracle, mascaras just don't smudge on my eyelids, but this one I had smudges eeeverywhere, underneath my eyes and all over my browbone, and they would keep reappearing throughout the day after repeatedly wiping them off. I think I'll stick to the regular Colossal Volum.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Espresso
palefawn 1/9/2013 3:23:00 PM
I picked this up after they DISCONTINUED my beloved L'oreal H.I.P. cream eyeliners, and while this isn't the same as the cream ones (which I loved, HG status for me) I do enjoy this eyeliner. It's very creamy and pigmented, one dip on my brush per eye is enough. The little brush that comes with these is wonderful as well, thin and tapered enough to get a nice winged look if that's what you're going for. As for staying power, this stays put on my eyelids, (I'd say I have average lids, they get oily occasionally but not super crazy) and if I leave it on overnight it's still there in the morning, unless I did some serious rubbing on my eyelids or something. I do wish that Espresso wasn't such a dark brown, but it's still lovely, and definitely something to look at if black is too harsh for you. And as for the "laquered finish", it's not very shiny at all (which I was happy about.) Not sure if I'll pick up other colors yet as I still have the cream eyeliners in Eggplant and Black, but these little liners are a wonderful drugstore product (I've heard it's even better than MAC Fluidline, I haven't tried Fluidline so I can't compare) and I definitely recommend them.

Highlighters -Boots - No7 High Lights Illuminating Lotion
palefawn 12/18/2012 1:57:00 PM
I love this stuff. I'm very pale, cool-undertoned, and this is a perfect highlighter. I like using it on my cheekbones underneath my foundation, it adds a little extra oomph, makes my skin look more awake and fresh, really gives you a lit-from-within look. Used on top of foundation, it blends out nicely patting it on with fingers. The bottle feels very sturdy and expensive. The only part I don't like about the packaging is that the pump can get clogged a bit at times but no biggie. You get so much product, and it's worth the price (around 12-13 dollars at target). If I ever use up my current bottle I'll definitely be repurchasing.

Styling Products -Kinky Curly - Curling Custard
palefawn 12/17/2012 2:25:00 PM
First off, my hair is 2C/3A mix most times, and it goes about all the way down my back. I was on the fence about trying this for so long, because it's not exactly cheap (I got mine for seventeen bucks at Target) and I didn't know if it would work for my hair. Finally picked it up, and I'm glad I did. I do think this product is a bit overhyped, but it's still wonderful. I do NOT use the Knot Today with this, I just use the KCCC on its own after getting out of the shower while my hair is still very damp. I use very little, I dip my pointer finger in about two knuckles deep and whatever is clung to my finger when I pull it out is the amount I use for my whole head. Rake it through, scrunch it, and let it air-dry. My curls are well-defined, frizz-free, and shiny. Maybe I'm just lucky but I don't have problems with it taking forever to dry like some reviewers have mentioned. There is a bit of crunch, but it's easily scrunched out once your hair is dry. It does smell coconut-y/sweet/sugary/cheesecake-y, but it doesn't linger, my hair just smells like the shampoo and conditioner I used. My tub will last me forever since I don't need to use much with my hair type. I'm very glad I decided to try this, if I ever run out I'll be repurchasing. -------------------------------------------- ******** EDIT: I had to bump this up from 4 to 5 stars and rave about it a little more. I think this is taking reign as my HG hair styling product. I've been using it every day and have been getting consistently great hair days, something I could never count on with other products I've tried. I've also started mixing in a drop of Organix argan oil when I apply it and my hair seems to like that. I am so glad I picked this up, and even though it's a bit spendy, this has given me better hair than the hundreds of products I've tried. Miracle product for me.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear -- 405B Blue Rose
palefawn 12/12/2012 3:41:00 PM
I'm not usually one for bright lipsticks, and when I first got this it was collecting dust for a while. After reading a short article that stated that fuschia was a good color for pale folk, I dug it out and tried it on. I love this color so much, it is a very blue-based BRIGHT pink. Moisturizing, applies smoothly. Probably in my top 10 list of favorite lippies. Also, it does really compliment my pale skin and makes my green eyes pop.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous - Black Cherry
palefawn 12/12/2012 3:32:00 PM
I love this color. It's second to my ultimate Revlon lippie favorite, Va Va Violet. It's a perfect, dark dark dark cool red. I'm very pale and I love dark reds, this makes my green eyes pop and it's just a perfect fall/winter color. Doesn't dry out my lips and glides on very smoothly, and it doesn't apply blotchy or uneven like some lipsticks can.

Hair -Shea Moisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
palefawn 12/5/2012 1:01:00 PM
I got this on a whim at Target one day (passing through the makeup and hair care aisles is, admittedly, a weakness of mine, even if I only went there for juice). I got it on sale for around $7.00 I believe. First off, a little overview of my hair: I have fine hairs, but a lot of them. Classification-wise, I'd say it's mostly a mix of 2C/3A. Length, about down to my lower back. My hair is NOT African-American hair. I do really love this product, and it will last me a long time. I don't mind the tub design that much. After I get out of the shower, I dip my finger into the smoothie and take that little dollop and rub it between my hands, then rake it through my hair and scrunch, then air-dry. It provides mild hold. No crunch as it's drying. If you have hard to control hair, I'm not sure if this would work well for you without the aid of another product. Also, I love the smell, it's very coconut-y, and since I use Aussie shampoo/conditioner, the scents blend well together, lol. It is a strong smell, though, which I knw some people aren't fond of, and it does linger. You need to apply this when your hair is fully damp though, because if you apply it to parts that are already getting dry, it'll feel a bit stringy, no me gusta. Overall, I'll definitely repurchase this when I use up the tub I have (which will be a while). Very happy I picked this up.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
palefawn 11/29/2012 3:41:00 PM
I went through three of these before I stopped using it. At the time, I thought it was the only thing that matched my pale skin (later realizing that it's too yellow and dark in the lightest shade). But, besides that, while I did use it, it was decent. I do have to give this foundation props because once it's on your face, it stays there. However, this often felt heavy on my face, which I don't think anyone likes. But, this is a very good drugstore foundation, and if you can find your shade, i would recommend giving it a try. Probably one of the best drugstore foundations available.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens - Alpha Hydroxy Lotion 8%
palefawn 11/13/2012 4:03:00 PM
I figured I's start my review and edit it as the weeks go by. Been using this for about a week now, and I'm happy with the results I've been getting. I apply it once daily (at night) and wake up to softer, smoother skin. It does smell like glue, but I don't really have an issue with it since it's so light and fades away. There is a tiny bit of tingling, not a sting exactly, more of just an itchy tingle that goes away after a bit. I've been getting a lot of compliments on my skin, it just looks smoother and more radiant. It's been helping with any pimples I have as well, my skin is almost completely cleared up. Like I said, I'll come back and edit this as the weeks go by to update any progress or disappointments.
