Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Butterfly Flower- Lotion

I really wanted to like this lotion, because I love the scent when I smell it in the bottle. However once I apply it I just don't like how it works with my body chemistry. It smells totally different on me. Dry-down scent reminds me of a cross between hair spray and baby powder.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Curl Care Touchable Curls Shaping Milk
rated 4 of 5

I really like this product. I love the packaging: the pump dispenses just the right amount of product and it's not messy at all. I have wavy hair that I often blow-dry straight because my waves are kind of unruly. But when I want to wear it wavy this product works really well. I finger comb it through my hair and then scrunch and let it air dry. I'm surprised at how my curls really pump up considering that this is such a light-weight product. And as others have said it doesn't leave my hair crunchy at all. My only complaint would be that the product doesn't control frizz as well as I would like. But everything else it does, it does really well.

Loose Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Matte Finishing Veil
rated 4 of 5
osuheatherk 3/18/2009 1:43:00 PM

I will echo what other reviewers have said: great product with poor packaging. There are two things I love about this product: it really is translucent and I don't have to worry about getting that cakey too-much powder look, and it is really long-lasting. I used to have to use an oil-blotting strip because of greasiness in my T-zone within about 6 hours of applying my makeup, but now I feel like my face stays matte for much longer. I still have not figured out the best way to actually get the powder onto the brush... I have trouble getting it to flow through the brush, so I have been unscrewing the top and dipping it onto the sifter, but that gets messy. I think I will have to figure out a separate container to dump the powder into but haven't done that yet. Unfortunately this means it's not a very portable option. But based on the performance of this product I will definitely repurchase.

Moisturizers -Bath and Body Works - Pure Simplicity Rice Skin Balancing Face Lotion
rated 5 of 5
osuheatherk 11/28/2008 12:11:00 PM

This is my HG facial moisturizer and I am so bummed that it has been discontinued!! I had to resort to buying it on ebay and paying more than I had paid in-store when I bought this on sale. It smooths in quickly and leaves my skin moisturized without being too greasy. I only need to use a small amount each day so the tiny bottle lasts for a long time.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Shea Whip Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
osuheatherk 11/28/2008 11:58:00 AM

I don't like The Body Shop's body butters because they leave my skin feeling too greasy. This body lotion works perfectly for me instead. The scent is long-lasting but not overpowering. It's a really warm, comforting scent. It absorbs well but you have to use it sparsely... I have found that if I try to rub in too much it gets a little 'gunky.' But I love the pump dispenser and if I use just one pump on each arm it's the perfect amount. My only problem with the packaging is that as the level of lotion in the bottle decreases, some of lotion clings to the inside of the bottle. It looks a little messy and if I can't get it off the sides of the bottle then that is wasted product. Otherwise, I love everything about this lotion and will definitely repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Almond Oil Daily Hand & Nail Cream
rated 5 of 5
osuheatherk 11/28/2008 11:26:00 AM

This is a great hand cream. I love using it at night when I go to bed, because it absorbs quickly and isn't greasy so I don't have to worry about getting it on the sheets. When I wake up in the morning the skin on my hands is really soft! My only complaint is that it's a little pricey for a hand cream, but with such great results I guess it's worth it.

Treatments -The Body Shop - Almond Oil Nail and Cuticle Treatment (click pen)
rated 5 of 5
osuheatherk 11/28/2008 11:02:00 AM

I love this product. My cuticules and skin around my nails tend to be ragged but they look better immediately after using this product. I just need to remember to use it more often! Like other reviewers have mentioned, the pen cap has a rubber slanted tip you can use to push back your cuticles after applying the oil, which is really convenient. My only problem with this product has been when I first used it: I had to twist the end many times before any of the oil would flow out, and when it finally started to flow it came out too quickly and I dripped some out. But with a little practice I'm able to control it better and twist it just enough to get the right amount. I'm still on my first pen (only got it a few weeks ago) so I can't comment on how long it will last.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
osuheatherk 4/1/2008 9:58:00 AM

I received this in a 2oz tube in my Christimas stocking. I keep it in my purse and use it as a hand cream. I dislike how greasy it is when first applied... I feel like I can't touch anything for at least 5 minutes. But once it soaks in I really like its moisturizing properties. And the tube has a cute feature: it squeezes out in a star shape so it almost looks like real whipped cream. I will continue to use the rest of the tube but doubt I'll repurchase as a hand cream.

Eye Makeup Remover -Nivea - Eye Make-Up Remover
rated 5 of 5
osuheatherk 4/1/2008 9:52:00 AM

This is my HG eye makeup remover. I'm really disappointed that I can't find it in any of my local stores, but I can still find it for sale online so I might have to place an order soon. I love this because it's really creamy, takes my mascara off gently, and doesn't leave a residue (unlike the cold cream I am using now). I prefer a creamy formula like this to the other common eye makeup removers at the store, like a liquid or the pads, because with those I always felt like I had to rub too hard to get all the mascara off. With this it comes off easily without rubbing hard.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Sensitive Skin Unscented Beauty Bar
rated 4 of 5
osuheatherk 4/1/2008 9:47:00 AM

A long time ago, a dermatologist recommended that I use either Dove or Dial soap to wash my face to prevent acne. For a long time I used an orange bar of Dial, but I like to keep one bar of soap in the shower for use on both my face and my body, and I found that the Dial was too drying on my body (though I could counter the drying effects on my face with moisturizer). So since then I have been using the Dove Beauty Bar. I really hate the regular Dove scent (it screams "old lady" to me) so I always used the Unscented bar and loved it, until my local stores stopped carrying it, and I switched to the Sensitive Skin bar instead (judging from their web site, it looks like they have discontinued the Unscented). I don't like it as much as the Unscented but can't really put my finger on why... I think maybe it is a little less moisturizing. But I will continue to use this because I love how well it cleanses my face and how clear my skin always looks.

Conditioner -Victoria's Secret - so sexy volumizing conditioner
rated 1 of 5
osuheatherk 4/1/2008 9:38:00 AM

I thought this conditioner was terrible. I bought the So Sexy Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, and I kept the shampoo but put the conditioner in a box of items being donated to the thrift store... I didn't even want to give it to a friend because I didn't think anyone would like it! The problem is that it wasn't conditioning at all. It had a weird texture that was very airy, and when I applied it it felt like it just sat on top of my hair or slid right off rather than really coating my hair or penetrating it to condition it. It did smell amazing, but it didn't do what it was supposed to. I've since purchased the So Sexy Nourishing conditioner and I like it much better.

Styling Products -Garnier - Soft Curl Cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
osuheatherk 4/1/2008 9:22:00 AM

I have thick, naturally wavy hair, and I like this product because it really does create soft, voluminous curls. It pumps up the curls without ever getting crunchy, so I like it better than a mousse or a gel. My biggest complaint is that after using this product for a few days in a row, it really seems to build up on my hair and feels difficult to wash out. But since I don't use this every day it isn't a deal-breaker. I also don't like the packaging. The jar has an apple shape so the mouth is more narrow than the bottom... I can just imagine that when I get to the bottom it will be more difficult to reach in and scoop out. Another complaint is that this product doesn't seem to tame the frizz... But overall, I think the benefit of the nice curls it makes outweighs any of my complaints.
