Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Super Lustrous in Fire and Ice

I had been looking around for a bright true red, and decided that since my broke butt couldn't afford any more, I had to revisit my makeup drawer and find a dupe for something like nars heat wave or dragon girl. I got this lipstick about three years ago. At seventeen, I couldn't handle the brightness. To me, it was garish, ugly, clownish, and just no. Now I can handle bright lipsticks without looking like I played dress up with mummy's makeup. This color was exactly the red I wanted and I had it all along! Yes, it is still bright. This is not a retro vampy shade for film noirs and mysterious smokey rooms where men play poker and drink. It's a bright, almost 80s shade that stands out without being orange tinged. I have lady danger and so chaud for that. It has a sheen without being glossy and consequently tacky looking. I think it will be perfect for this summer. Leaves a nice stain, doesn't feather or dry out my crocodile lips any more. I'm glad I didn't go out and drop 20 on a same color.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion

Excuse me for hating and not giving this the 5 lippies it deserves but... I'm not sure if this is the right blush for my tanner skin. But when it's the wintertime, this blush gives a wonderful flush to my light NC20 skin. It is so light that you literally cannot overdose on blusher and can build it up to be very natural. If you're looking for something with amazing pigmentation, this blush is probably not for you. If you are any more than an NC30, this is probably not for you either. It just won't show up. As for when it does, this blush lasts well, looks natural, isn't powdery, and is just all around awesome.

Lipstick -Milani - Rose Hip #07
rated 4 of 5
orenjinominh 5/25/2013 1:13:00 AM

I wanted to get Show Orchid, but my paltry funds reserved for bills was not to be tapped into. I decided to go the cheap route and resort to a dupe. Plus, I already have a lot of bright pinks. Enter Rose Hip. Color, phenomenal against my NC35 skin. I bet it will also look good against my winter NC20. Creamy upon application. Good. Smells....like Jolly Ranchers. This may or may not be a good thing. I enjoy it, and the scent lasts for a few minutes. Lasting power......meh. It is a DS find, so I didn't expect much.I did have to touch up after a meal and it started to dry out my lips after 4 hours of wear. But it did leave a nice stain even after the lippie came off. Didn't bleed at least. Packaging: Tacky mirrored gold finish. No thanks. For the cheap price, it's a good addition to my collection. I like how every hot pink and fuchsia out there has a little variation to them. This color is as pink as it gets without being absolute drag queen like my Candy Yum Yum. Classy enough for casual wear. I wouldn't give this a 3 lippie just because the color is that pretty. PS: looks very good when layered with a nude beige gloss on top. I use MAC's lipglass in liquid passion. This makes it look like a juicy watermelon and my lips look amazingly pouty (and they are on the thin side).

Fragrances -Chloe - See By Chloe EDP
rated 4 of 5

I got a little sample from Sephora the other day which had this scent and the original Chloe perfume. I thought the other one smelled very good, but the husband rated it as "old lady". I tried this one on and, although I was enthralled, the husband was rapturous. So, I went ahead and ordered the small size. This smells like a sweet floral to me with a strange top note that doesn't agree with me much. Then after five minutes it fades down and matches to my body chemistry. I wouldn't say I prefer it over my Viva la Juicy, but it smells delectable and light for summer. To me, it smells like an apple orchard next to a field of flowers. I HATE floral scents and this one works because it's so light and sweet. I'd say anyone 10 to 30 can wear this and pull it off. I am not a fan of heavy or cloying perfumes in the summer. I leave my Poison for the winter months alone. This one smells fresh and inviting, although I wouldn't say that it's a signature scent or anything mysterious/new/original. As long as the husband loves it and I'm okay with it, I'm sure I can save the whole 1 oz bottle up to a year or two. The packaging is divine though, love the birdcage design. It looks very classy and elegant on my vanity.

Holy batmancowpoop! This is the HG warm pink I was looking for in MAC chatterbox but couldn't. So beautiful. So lovely. So elegant. So fun. So lovely with lip gloss. So moist. So long lasting. I am betrothed to sir 38 forever. It is so stand out on my nc40 in the classiest way. I look fresh, happy, with lovely whiter teeth and like a toned downed Barbie. Please give this shade a name, something like "one pink to rule them all."

Lipstick -NARS - Satin Lip Pencil in Yu
rated 5 of 5
orenjinominh 5/19/2013 11:56:00 PM

I was at sephora trying to pick up mufe intense in 36, but they were all out curse them. I figured it wouldn't hurt to find a dupe as there are plenty of fuschia shades out there this summer. The assistant first pointed me to a buxom lipstick that was very similar but absolutely too shiny for the already bright color. Um, no. Then she said, you know two of our girls are wearing this NARS shade you should try. She took me over to the counter to this shade, Yu. Basically, it's the same shade except in pencil form and more expensive. But, I love nars lip products and decided to take the plunge anyway since the color was absolutely beautiful. I love it! The packaging means I can line my lips and fill in with another color, or just color in my lips with this brilliant shade if I wanted to. I see this one running out very quickly this summer. Which may be a bad thing, since it doesn't look like much product for the 25 dollar price tag.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Nude Delight
rated 4 of 5
orenjinominh 5/19/2013 11:51:00 PM

I have many of macs peachy nudes thanks to a swap sample bunch, but I wanted to pick this up since it was so cheap and I didn't mind trying it out just for comparison. This lipstick is a very nice color but it leaves a very strange taste in my mouth when I wear it. I don't know how to explain it, but its a little off putting. Otherwise, I like the formulation and it is very flattering on my nc40 tone of the moment. It's supposed to be a dupe of macs shy girl I think. I don't think I will repurchase, but I will definitely use this tube up. It's a flattering nude to go to when I wear a liner or smokey eye. However, it's not super moisturizing and I do have to put lip balm on underneath so that the cracks do not show up.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Milk Chocolate Soleil
rated 4 of 5
orenjinominh 5/19/2013 9:45:00 PM

I'm always very wary of bronzers. First, they always look orange on me, even the Benefit Hoola bronzer. Otherwise, they are glittery and chunky and just looks bad. But....my foundation was a shade too light and I wanted a sunkissed look for summer since my face tan has not caught up to my chest and arms.I was originally going to get this in the darker color, and then decided to get the lighter shade just in case. When I suddenly got tanner (NC30 to NC40 in a week!) I was afraid that the lighter shade I ordered online would be too light. Nope! It gives such a beautiful and matte color to my skin that doesn't look forced, streaky, heavy handed, and most importantly, orange! It takes about one full sweep to bring color into my cheeks and I use this on my high cheekbones to bring them out, as well as on my temples for a faux tan.I have yet to contour my nose with this but I'm very suspicious that it will look absolutely natural. Beautiful packaging, looks great on my counter. The one con is the fake chocolate smell....reminds me of the chocolate milk cartons the first graders I work with spill, or sugary candy. Yuck. At least it only lasts a few minutes on my skin. If you smell it from afar, not so bad. Don't put your nose to the powder if you don't like chocolate. I eat chocolate by the ton and it still smells gross to me. Also, I cried a few tears the other day and it streaked through the bronzer LOL so I guess don't get your face wet or cry over stupid things when you have this on. Overall, my HG bronzer for the purpose of bronzing. I can't say this is pigmented enough for contouring and sculpting, but I think the original shade would work for that.

Lipstick -NARS - Funny Face
rated 5 of 5
orenjinominh 5/19/2013 7:11:00 PM

Okay, lord help me. I love this color because my inner ratchet can rejoice in colors for summer while I still look classy. it looks very expensive (it is, nars pricing is ridic) and lives up to expectations. I wouldn't wear it to the club (too dark) nor work (too bright) but somehow I still love it. its good for everything else where you will be seen. I was afraid it would be too 90s power tie color but the brightness complements my tan skin so well I look much more well rested. btw you need lip liner because you will quickly cross the line from class to trash without it. just take the time.

Lipstick -NARS - Schiap
rated 5 of 5
orenjinominh 5/19/2013 12:44:00 AM

I knew there was a reason I wanted this lipstick so badly, and it was so worth it in the end to finally have it in my hands! Candy yum yum is the baby prostitute fuschia colored lipstick while this lipstick is the tasteful professional who goes out for happy hour. I own and love both, but this one is a little deeper so that it cannot be garish, especially with my tan skin and dark hair. It is still definitely not for the meek, but it is much classier to pull off. I just love how it is a bright lip without trying too hard and screaming look at me at everyone who passes by. People will look, but there will be no judgmental icy knife stares from women or leery ones from men. After the initial 3 or 4 hours, the color fades evenly into this beautiful raspberry stain that isn't cracking up your lips or leaving in blotches. The sexy mistress left you a love letter bedside. And the best thing is it doesn't dry out my lips like the matte formula of candy yum yum. I have real trouble with wearing lipsticks since I constantly have to reapply lip balm in fear of peeling color. I dislike how nars gives you so little product for your money since I will be wearing this one often for the summer.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
orenjinominh 5/16/2013 11:20:00 PM

when I first got to college, my mom gave me a pack of three of these. I first thought my clear skin was reacting badly to stress and new living conditions. turns out it was just this drying out my skin so badly that my skin overproduced oil to compensate. I had blackheads white heads and cystic acne from wonderful clear skin. after I finished my cleanser and switched to a creamy wash my skin went back to normal. dry skinned girls beware!!!

Cleansers -Christian Dior - Purifying Gelee Makeup Remover
rated 3 of 5
orenjinominh 5/16/2013 5:23:00 PM

I wouldn't use this if my rich mother didn't give it to me, but it is very effective in removing makeup. It stings just a bit if you get it right into your eye. But it is very good at taking off all of the makeup on your face with just one swipe. I've had experiences with makeup remover oils that take so long to dissolve the makeup and never manages to take it all off that by the time you rub your eyes raw you give up and sleep with mascara on. I hate the pump, but you get a lot of product so that by the end of it you don't really miss the little extra product left.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 4 of 5
orenjinominh 5/16/2013 4:05:00 PM

I am on a powder foundation binge for summer. Here is how studio fix stacks up to my other powders. This one is definitely much more matte, fuller coverage, and thicker than anything I have in my stash. I usually use msfn for powder foundation alone, but the glow (read: shine) I get in this heat is not cutting it anymore. Plus, I needed a darker color for summer and couldn't decide between medium plus or medium dark and wanted something more precise in terms of color match since I have some breakouts at the moment. Studio fix in c5 is like a more yellow version of carrot face nc42, so ask for the c version if you are a tanned Asian like me. Don't just accept what the assistant gives to you. This looks great with a light dusting and fix plus. It can look powdery without a misting spray and good conditioner underneath. Also, you can use a damp sponge for spot coverup and it works flawlessly for that. It does not look or feel heavy. Be judicious people. If you pack it on, of course it will cake up and look disgusting. Use a heavier concealer or liquid foundation for that. I use a fluffy big brush and it evens everything out wonderfully. I like my MUFE pro finish more, but this hands down mattifies my t zone much more effectively for the summer with no touch ups and the color match is impressive.

Lipstick -MAC - Lady Danger
rated 5 of 5
orenjinominh 5/14/2013 4:52:00 PM

I recently swapped my Chatterbox for this lippie and I love it! Fabulous on tan and yellow toned skin from NC30 on! Looks matte, feels moisturizing. Surprising combo since its twin So Chaud is so drying. Bright red. May or may be too bright for your taste. Head turner and attention grabber from men and women. I wear with lip liner just in case, but I've had no problems with transferring or rub off. I am going to stock up on a second tube just because I'm greedy like that, and I'm already half way through my tube (and it's been a week!) Proves how wonderful this shade is since I hoard my lipsticks for years without making a dent in any.

Powder -Milani - Multitasker
rated 5 of 5
orenjinominh 5/14/2013 4:31:00 PM

I don't use this as anything other than a tinted powder to mattify, if that makes sense. I have a powder foundation that does its job and then this to mattify throughout the day and actually match my skintone (no transparent powder looks natural on my nc35 skintone at the moment). I have used the Maybelline Dream matte and it was underperforming. I layer Rimmel's Stay Matte in the morning, but for touch ups (my tzone gets oily in the summer heat) I go to this powder. What's so good about it is that for the price you get a very cute compact with a mirror and sponge. It does look a little tacky, but I do my touch ups in the bathroom and not in public. It does a very good job at controlling oil, especially around my nose. It doesn't look cakey like the dream matte powder would either. I would buy again since it's dirt cheap. I am NC30-NC35 at the moment and light tan is dark and yellow enough to look natural.
