Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
rated 2 of 5
orangenotepad 1/12/2012 10:48:00 AM

PROS consistency smell(I really like lavender) almost instant absorption CONS burns after exfoliation left me with clogged pores after a week made my skin oilier $$$ I really wanted this moisturizer to work for me after all the great reviews on Sephora. I liked how my skin reacted to it the first few days- it left my cheeks kind of dewy under my foundation, and a few friends commented on my "glow." Then BAM!- honeymoon over. I began to wake up to a really oily face. I started noticing my pores were getting tiny hard plugs all over my cheeks, so I broke out my Olay proX brush and exfoliated. I put Hope on afterwards and it caused a very unpleasant stinging sensation. This goes on the return pile.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - HEMP Body Butter
rated 5 of 5
orangenotepad 12/27/2011 2:30:00 PM

This would be a PERFECT product if it smelled differently. It works so well- my legs are always so dry in the winter- they get tiny little fissures so it looks like a dry riverbed on my shins. I've been using this for two months, and no more dryness. I put it on immediately after my evening shower, and my legs/feet have never looked better. I do try to put on a different body butter on top of this if I use it in the morning, otherwise I smell "herb-y" all day. the price is a little steep at $18 a pop, but The body Shop usually has some crazy sale going on, so I just wait for their 3 for $30 or 50%off to purchase this along with my basics.

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick (all shades)

I have 3 of these and I LOVE them. I wear them in between days of wearing lipstick and my lips get so soft! No more dryness. 1 lippie off for the price, but I will repurchase so long as there is a GWP involved.

Highlighters -E.L.F. - Studio Blush in Gotta Glow
rated 3 of 5
orangenotepad 12/27/2011 1:36:00 PM

It's a good highlighter, but it does look shimmery/powdery on my cheek instead of glowy/dewy. I think I may actually prefer ELF's $1 essential highlighters(facial whip, all over color) just because they look a little more natural on me.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush in Candid Coral
rated 3 of 5
orangenotepad 12/27/2011 1:19:00 PM

PROS dirt cheap(I got mine on ELF's 50% off sale, so it was for $1.50) very pretty color, no orange and right amount of shimmer buildable CONS very sheer, have to brush on a few times before coral shows up not very long-lasting powdery I think this would have lasted better on me if I used something liquid(fdtn) or cream(blush) beneath to help hold it in place.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Mellow Mauve
rated 3 of 5
orangenotepad 12/27/2011 1:11:00 PM

Buildable, which is good, especially since I have to brush it on a few times in order to get any kind of color on my cheeks(nc20-25). The color is pretty and matte, which I really like, but I hate having so much product on my cheeks. If it were a little more pigmented I'd have given it all five lippies.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil
rated 2 of 5
orangenotepad 12/27/2011 9:54:00 AM

Ugh. This does not work well on my combo skin. I bought this to set my liquid foundations since the assistant at the Macys counter reassured me it would help control oil without clogging my pores or upsetting my sensitive skin. Wrong, wrong, and wrong. My face managed to look both oily and chalky at the same time after using this product. It emphasized what little wrinkling I have around my eyes. And it clogged my pores. And it gave me dry flaky spots around my nose that picked up all the sparkle of the product. Will return. Will not repurchase.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 4 of 5
orangenotepad 12/25/2011 2:07:00 AM

I think this works well for me during workdays, but not weekend nights. At work it keeps my eye makeup on from 7-5, but during weekends that I go dancing my shadows still fade/crease. A little goes a long way, at least that's what I tell myself when I think of buying a new one. But really for the price I'd want it to be as efficient on active evenings as it is during the day.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
rated 5 of 5
orangenotepad 12/25/2011 2:00:00 AM

I love this product- it helps set my liquid foundation well, and I barely need to blot midday with this on. My skin looks photoshopped in pictures when I wear this. I avoid the white cast by applying very lightly. The only minor gripes I have are: - the packaging could be improved upon, like a lock-and-go thing that bare minerals has on their foundation/veil. - I can't be sloppy/lazy with concealer. If I don't blend well before using the powder, the powder settles heavily on top of the concealer and it looks splotchy.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
orangenotepad 12/24/2011 5:08:00 PM

PROS Great coverage nice finish shade matched my skin perfectly CONS End of morning my skin was oily End of day I had clogged pores and tiny bumps along my forehead I really do love this foundation, but I can't wear it for more than 3 hrs otherwise my forehead erupts in tiny bumps. So, I save this only for special evenings where I'll be going out but not staying out too late/sweating etc. I won't be repurchasing.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
orangenotepad 12/24/2011 4:59:00 PM

I bought one of these on a whim during ELF's sitewide 50% off sale. I wasn't really expecting much out of this little pot since I've had little luck with their cosmetics(love the brushes, some of the blushes/lipsticks, not so much face/eye products) but I wanted to try mineral/loose shadows and this was only $1.50 so I figured why not start off with something inexpensive? SHIMMERY GOODNESS. This actually lasted on me without my usual primer. I'm going to buy more shades next time I place an order. PS. I also taped two of the little holes closed to prevent the product from coming out too much.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation
rated 3 of 5
orangenotepad 12/16/2011 10:22:00 AM

I bought this at the CVS beauty clearance for a steal(around $4). It gives me just the right amount of coverage(light to medium), I love that it has spf 50 in it, and it doesn't break me out. The transluscent medium shade is an almost perfect match for me. Packaging is sturdy, but bulky for the size of the powder itself. I will buy more for the summer, especially at this price range, but not when it goes back up to $15.

Love the formula, love the colors, love the price. One lippie off for crap packaging, as 2 of 5 lipsticks I ordered broke at the base once I opened it.
