Eyeliner -Prestige - Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner in Sepia

I have never been successful with eyeliner; I either couldn't properly apply it, used horribly smudgy/disappearing products, or chose the wrong color (I always opted for black). I found this while rummaging around in my mother's makeup drawer, and to my surprise it worked perfectly! This eyeliner is in a great shade, stays put all day, and looks awesome. I will definitely be repurchasing if i can find a place to do so. Reccomend.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush

Wow this is a great brush! I have tried using a really cheap throwaway brush to apply powder in the past, and that experience convinced me I didn't need powder at all. WRONG! Upon buying this, I thought I would have trouble with makeup application technique, but applying powder and blush with this brush is a breeze. It is relatively cheap ($8) and readily available at drugstores which is a big plus for me. Actually using powder has improved my appearance so much lately. This brush is so soft, I like to just brush it up against my skin. So happy I bought this!

Loose Powders -New York Color - loose translucent powder
rated 5 of 5

I am not a seasoned, experienced makeup user, but I am pleasantly surprised by this product. It performs exactly as I would like it to. My skin is not terribly oily, so i purchased this powder for foundation setting purposes, rather than for blotting purposes. I use Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet foundation, and have had occasional problems with it coming off. So in attempt to solve that problem, I journeyed over to Rite-Aid yesterday and purchased this translucent powder and an Ecotools Powder Brush. I thought I would have problems with application, but it went on perfectly and I was surprised at how it improved the look of my face. It is pretty plain and no-nonsense, but does what it is supposed to. My makeup/skin looks much better and I still looked great after a night out. This is exactly what I needed and best of all it's cheap and available!

Makeup Brushes -Essence of Beauty - Foundation Brush
rated 4 of 5
orangemississippi 7/26/2008 9:08:00 PM

I have extremely problematic skin and frequently encounter difficulties applying makeup to such an uneven canvas. I must wear makeup to conceal acne and scarring, but for the longest time could not figure out how to make the makeup look like actual skin close up. Having failed miserably with fingers and sponges, I was nervous that a foundation brush would require makeup application skills greater than my own. But I was extremely pleased to find that this brush was pretty foolproof. I was finally able to apply my new full-coverage Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet foundation with ease and evenness. This is perfect. Fantastic price ($10), easily attainable (the nearest CVS), and great performance. I'm so glad I didn't shell out $30 or $40 for the MAC brush.

Liquid -Origins - Stay Tuned Foundation
rated 2 of 5

i sucked up my reclusive shyness and actually went to the origins counter and let the SA find the right foundation for me. she matched me up with Linen, which turned out to be a pretty accurate match, but truthfully i'm not too happy with this product. it evens skin tone a little and doesn't get too cakey, but the coverage is way inadequate for my problematic skin. worst of all, there are always new zits when I take it off at night. who wants to deal with that?

Moisturizers -C.O. Bigelow - Extra Light Face Lotion [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

this moisturizer just doesn't cut it for me now that i'm on accutane and experiencing intense flaking and peeling for the first time. i've been slathering it on lately, but it fails to make any difference in the plainly visable flakes around my chin and nose. before i started accutane, my skin was oily and would regularly have mid-day breakthroughs. I rarely used this product at this time. It had no negative effects, but seemed to me a useless step in my already lengthy routine. won't be repurchasing EDIT: Now that my skin is less disgustingly dry, i have tried out this moisturizer only to be reminded how absolutely divine it feels on my skin! Maybe I'll think about repurchasing it, because it's almost out and I love putting it on.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - MaMa Lotion [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

I am 15 years old with pale skin and extreme confidence-destroying acne and hyperpigmentation. there are a lot of little things about this product that annoy me. The pump broke about two days after I started using it, so I have to unscrew the top to get the stuff out. it itches/stings like crazy for at least 2 minutes. it's more expensive than any skincare product I've ever bought, plus there's the issue of having to order it online (i'm a teenager who still lives with her parents). if MaMa lotion worked to significantly reduce acne scarring, all of these problems could be overlooked. but after three months of usage, I don't see much of an improvement. one strange observation that keeps MaMa lotion from getting a one...for about a week, I stopped using it. I wanted to get rid of my acne for a special occasion, so I used products directed at acne treatment, rather than scarring. During this time, my acne and scars got significantly darker, to the point where I couldn't adequately cover them up with makeup. It seems to me like MaMa lotion tempers scars and lightens them to a certain level, but there's not much that can be done after that. I will keep using it until it runs out, and hope for some vast improvement that affirms everybody's claims that it is some miracle worker.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
rated 3 of 5
orangemississippi 1/13/2008 3:00:00 PM

My real problem with this is that it balls up so easily. If I spread it around on my face too much, it just turns into white flakes, which is super annoying and makes my makeup look awful after only a short amount of time. I have oily skin, but have taken to wearing a moisturizer under this so it won't make my makeup look so flakey. Other than that, it doesn't feel too greasy and has a high SPF which is good (I live in Southern California). And it only stings very occasionally for me. I can live with it until I use it up.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Dessert Essence Blemish Touch Stick
rated 2 of 5

I haven't had any major acne since I began using this, and that is amazing for me. It does not make your skin perfect instantly, but drastically shortens the life of your zits before they get huge. So I have really gross acne scars on my cheeks and forehead that make my skin look awful regardless of how many actual zits are on my face. So it took me a while to realize how much this is actually working. But now I consider it to be the best thing I've ever used on my skin. It isn't terribly expensive, but there isn't very much either. But I'm ok with that, because I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on some huge product that doesn't work. Thanks to all of you who wrote reviews, because without you I would never have known about this product. I love this website! EDIT: this has way irritating ingredients in it-alcohol (2nd INGREDIENT!!), multiple fragrances. i'll only use this when my acne gets really awful & i'll try to use it up. will not repurchase. decreasing rating from 5 to 2.
