Primer/ Corrector -Hourglass - Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15
rated 5 of 5

Color me impressed! I have been using this for a week so far and I am just amazed at how awesome it is. I chose this primer due to it was recommended to me by a Sephora SA. I told her that my main concern was keeping my oiliness at bay so that my foundation would remain in place. I am UBER oily!!! I told her I was desperate for something/anything that could help me. She then gave me a huge sample of this primer and it has been everything that I hoped it would turn out to be. My foundation applies smoothly and looks great! And most of all, I dont have to blot my skin numerous times a day. I hardly have to blot at all. I really love this primer. The only drawback is the price. I think $52 is quite expensive but since its the only thing that seems to work for me, I will bite the bullet and pay the price. When my sample is gone, I WILL buy a full bottle of this.

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Fresh Mint Leaf
rated 2 of 5
oolala30 2/14/2011 12:44:00 PM

I have tried this. Sadly, I am not a fan. I gave it a couple of days to impress me and it did not step up. I like fragrances that contain a mint note, but for me, the mint in this was way too prominent - maybe 'dominant' would be a better description since the other notes didn't stand a chance. The mint was just too much...so much so that all I could think of was toothpaste. I was not able to find a way to appreciate the other notes in this fragrance. I bought and love the other tea fragrances in this launch, but this one stayed on the shelf at Nordstrom. I just couldn't find any love for this fragrance.

Lipstick -Guerlain - Rouge G Le Brillant Lipstick - Bee B64
rated 4 of 5
oolala30 10/30/2010 11:17:00 PM

I purchased this by mistake (long story...total mistake). It was one of many makeup items sent to me via home delivery from Nordstroms. When I reviewed the receipt and noticed the price of this lipstick, I determined that after delivery it would immediately be returned as spending $46 for ONE lipstick is ridiculous!! Well, the package arrived and I sat the lipstick aside so that it could be returned. However, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to at least try it...what the heck, right?

I tried it and that was the beginning of the end for me. The packaging was beautiful....heavy, but beautiful and I loved the mirror with the imprint of a bee on it. I tried on the color and it didnt appear to be very different than some of the other plummy lippies that I own. Ahhh, if only I'd known what was in store for me and this lipstick.

I went out to the patio to see the lipstick color in the sunlight and that is when the magic started to happen. The color looked so amazing!! I could see the golden flecks in the lipstick color and it looked so beautiful. I was impressed with the lipstick at this point but still determined to return it. I then went back inside and packaged up the lipstick so that it could be returned. At this point I'm thinking that the lipstick feels really good; really smooth; really moisturizing on my lips. I'm still quite impressed. So impressed that I left the house and decided that I'd make Nordstroms the last stop on my list of places to go.

Well, to make a long story short, I could not bring myself to return the overpriced, $46 lipstick. I did make Nordstrom my last stop and when I got there, I looked at my lips and the lipstick was still going strong. I'd been out for hours and even had a bit of lunch. After all of that, my lips were still looking quite amazing. The color was not as vibrant as initial application, of course, but the color was still VERY much there. I could touch it up or not....didnt matter cause it looked very good. This lipstick lasts and lasts. I love it!! I just could not return this lipstick. I still think it is very pricey, but in the end, I feel that the price just might be justified because of all the great benefits of this lipstick. It is very moisturizing; lips feel smooth and hydrated when wearing this; the color is amazing; and the need for a touch-up is rare and last, but certainly not least, the packaging is very beautiful. I cannot imagine that I'd purchase these lipsticks on a regular basis simply and only because of the cost. However, whenever I feel like I want to splurge, I'll be headed directly to the Guerlain counter to purchase another Rouge G Le Brillant lippie. I regretted this purchase at first, but now, I'm really glad that I made this very costly mistake. I'm in love and everyone knows that you cannot deny love, right? Rouge G.... you got me!!

Fragrances -Juicy Couture - Peace, Love & Juicy Couture
rated 3 of 5
oolala30 10/25/2010 2:21:00 AM

I purchased this and I really like it. It is definitely green which kind of surprised me....didn't expect this type fragrance from JC. Anyway, even though I like it I returned it ONLY because this stuff does not last. I doused myself in it and within the hour, I could not smell anything. My friend did not smell it on me either. If this lasted longer, I would have loved this fragrance. My low rating is only because of the disappearing act that this fragrance plays. The bottle is really cute; the price is average.... lasting power sadly is nonexistent.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte Perle in Mesmerizing Purple #06
rated 4 of 5
oolala30 7/22/2010 5:53:00 PM

This color is referred to as 'Mesmerizing Purple'. Mesmerizing? No. Purple? Yes. In fact, this is so purple that it is just a stone's throw away from being black. That's not a bad thing, but its just not what I wanted this color to be. I tried it in the store before purchasing it and in the store lighting I thought it was so very beautiful...the perfect purple. Now that I've brought it home and have been wearing it for the past few days, I'm really not loving the color any more. The SA told me that this was a full coverage lipstick, but I think it is more medium to semi-sheer coverage. I dont know why, but this color turns out so blotchy on my lips. As for the formula itself.... I love it!! It is so moisturizing and feels amazing on my lips. Also, even though I slightly disagree with the SA in that this is supposed to be full coverage, I still think this is a nice lipstick and it does last fairly well without a touch up...blotchiness and all. I hope that my use of 'blotchiness' is not misleading. I really think that this is because of the color of this lipstick and not the formula itself. Its kind of hard to get full, smooth coverage from something so dark, at least it is for me. Overall, I do really like this lipstick formula. I am taking #06 back to the store since I cannot make this color work for me. However, I do plan to try this formula again. Maybe one of the other colors will work out better. As for the formula itself... I really love it and I think it is worth the $34 price tag. For reference, my skintone is NW45 (MAC)

Palettes -Christian Dior - Christian Dior Jazzclub Smoky 001
rated 4 of 5
oolala30 8/3/2009 12:54:00 PM

I am really shocked that no one has written a review on this palette.....I guess I'll start. I LOVE THIS PALETTE!! It has six eye products inside of a beautiful black case that has the silver "D" on the front of it. Inside is: black eyeliner - This is not the best, nor is it the worst. It applies nicely and has average lasting power. Brow powder - this is the only item in the palette that I cannot make peace with. Why did Dior do this? What were they thinking? Not everyone can use the light brown brow powder! Black/brown shadow - This is a matte shadow. It is a nice deep black/brown and applies darker than you would expect it to based on how it looks in the palette. Gold-ish eye shadow - This is the charm of the palette in my opinion. This is a very beautiful gold-like color. I put this on my eyes and it looked so-so while inside my house. Then I saw it while I was outside and it looked sooooo stunning. I really love this color. Silver/taupe shadow - To me, this color is silver with a taupe cast to it. It is very pretty and compliments the gold very well. Shimmery top coat - At first I thought.... WTH? Why do I need a top coat? But, since it was there, I decided to have an open mind and give it a shot. Its actually quite nice. I used it as a finishing touch to my EOTD and it really did give it a bit of a lift. I could have done without it, but it really is not bad at all. I will continue to use it. I have also used it under my brows and it looks great there. Overall, I really like this palette and if Dior made more of these, I would definitely buy them. Btw, I also purchased the Jazzclub palette with the purple shadows.... HATED IT!!! But that's another story for another review. The smoky Jazzclub palette is nice and the only problem I have with it is the brow powder. But, luckily, the brow powder can be used as a shadow. I used it in my crease (for other EOTDs...not this Smoky palette) and it worked just fine. Don't count this palette out because of the top coat, and brow powder. It is still an amazing palette!

Eyes -Smashbox - Eyelights in Smokebox
rated 5 of 5
oolala30 6/14/2009 2:51:00 AM

I totally and completely love this trio! It is so amazing. It comes in the signature black palette that Smashbox is known for. Personally, I have never really liked this style palette because it is hard to keep it clean, but, the product inside is fantastic so I wont complain too much about the packaging. The trio has a light beige-ish shadow; a taupe shadow and a black shadow with slight glitter that appears silvery-blue to me. The shadows are very pigmented and they blend amazingly well. I use the taupe all over the lid and apply the lightest shadow in the inner 'v'. The black shadow is used in the outer 'v' and to line. The results are GORGEOUS!! I get so many complients when I wear this combo. I know its vain, but even I cannot stop staring at my eyes when I wear this. I love it so much. I would purchase this palette again and again if I ever ran out. Its AMAZING!!!

Polishes -Sinful - Gorgeous
rated 5 of 5
oolala30 5/27/2009 12:02:00 AM

I did a pedicure last night and found this polish in my stash. I purchased it months ago and somehow I overlooked it for quite a while. Wow!!! I missed a lot! This color is beautiful and quite stunning. It seems to draw attention to my feet too (as to be expected with a color this bright). but the attention was very positive. My toes looked amazing in my sandals today. I was complimented quite a few times on my pedi. I have to say that this is a very beautiful teal color on its own but I still wanted to pump it up a bit so I topped it off with Pearl Harbor (also by Sinful Colors) which is a clear polish with teal glitter. The combination was GORGEOUS!! I love most of the Sinful colors and Gorgeous is at the top of the list. I will most definitely purchase this again.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Lockdown Cream Shadow - Prisoner of Love
rated 5 of 5
oolala30 1/25/2009 10:40:00 PM

I cannot believe that no one has already reviewed this product. I think Urban Decay Primer Potion has a new rival! I noticed Lockdown (LD) in Sephora a few days ago. A Too Faced rep was there and she showed me some of the newer products offered by Too Faced. She mentioned her oily lids and said that she used Lockdown and swore by the results of it. Since I have uber oily lids, I was all ears at this point. She mentioned that Shadow Insurance (another great product) is mixed into the LD and that is why it stays in place when used. I ended up purchasing Prisoner Of Love which is a beautiful pink color. I tried LD the next morning when I was doing my makeup, the pink turns out to be very sheer but it is buildable. however, I only wanted to use it as a base, so I was not very concerned with the sheerness of it. I finished my EOTD (with Prisoner of Love as a base) and everything turned out quite lovely. I had no problems with creasing throughout the day. Ever so often, I checked my EOTD and was quite pleased with the way LD was holding up. Finally, my day ended at 10 hours later. I checked my eyes out when I got home and was pleased and quite amazed at how great my eyeshadow still looked. Nothing budged!! After a full day and then some, my eyeshadow was still holding up and looking quite good. I've been using LD for almost a week now and the results have been the same everytime. I love this stuff. It is a wonder-product in my book and I will definitely be going back to Sephora for more of the colors that are offered. I dont think that I am ready to say goodbye to UDPP but I am definitely glad that I have choices of what to use as a base now. Besides, LD comes in 6 (?) different colors and can be used as a base or alone as a shadow and UDPP is solely a base so there is room for both of these amazing products in my life.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mineralize Eyeshadow Trio in Danger Zone
rated 4 of 5
oolala30 1/23/2009 11:27:00 PM

There has never been a time when I've worn this trio that I did not get a compliment. This trio is really hot! I love it and I am truly surprised that I can actually wear red eyeshadow and get away with it. This really works! The red is a very nice, smooth shimmery color and I usually use sharkskin shadestick as a base for it. The black is nicely pigmented and a breeze to apply. I usually use it on the outer-V and to line. The silver is basically useles. It seems to be nothing but glitter and when I apply it, it gets all over the place and is a real pain to deal with. Nonetheless, I still try to use it to bump up my EOTD just a bit. I put it all over my lid after everything else that I plan to use on my eyes has been completed. It gives a nice effect. I really love this trio and I am quite pleased that I purchased it. If it were not for that lousy silver glitter, I would have given this product 5 stars. But since the silver glitter is so useless I just could not rate this a 5. Oh well! I hope that MAC will release it again because I'd surely purchase a backup. I dont want to ever be without this trio!

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Rapture Eyeshadow & Brush Collection
rated 1 of 5
oolala30 10/24/2008 11:42:00 PM

Smashbox should be ashamed of themselves for marketing this mess. I am soooo disappointed in this set. It is just terrible!! ....well, the shadows are terrible. There is very little pigmentation in the shadows. It is difficult to determine the actual shadow color once applied. This is the kind of sheerness that you would find in children's makeup sets. It would appear that this set would be a bargain considering that there are 8 duos, but that is not the case. Aside from the lack of pigmentation, the color selections that Smashbox chose to put in this set is just sad..... talk about BORING colors!!! The only good thing about this set are the brushes. They are adorable and of pretty good quality but that is not enough reason to purchase this set. Save your money and run from this set. It is horrible and a complete nightmare!!

I love everything about this fragrance. It smells divine and the lasting power is better than that of any of the other fragrances that I own. Also, the bottle is quite stunning. I am sure that I would buy this again and again.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Sensuous
rated 5 of 5
oolala30 8/3/2008 3:15:00 PM

I have never really cared for any Estee Lauder fragrance. They usually bore me to tears. Then for reasons I still cannot understand, I tried Sensuous when it came out recently and this time it was love at first sniff. I bought the large bottle, the lotion and the roll-on. To me, this fragrance is intoxicating. It evokes different emotions everytime I wear it. Sometimes, it makes me feel sexy; sometimes warm; sometimes comfortable...and those are just a few of the feelings I get from this fragrance. I have tons of different fragrances in my stash, but ever since I purchased Sensuous, this is all that I seem to want to wear. I cant get enough of it. Its like perfume crack! I LOVE Sensuous and I am sure I will buy it over and over again. I dont ever buy fragrance backups, but Sensuous might be the fragrance to make me change that rule. I know that I am in the minority with my love of this fragrance, but I dont care.....to each her own. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Lotus Blossom & Water Lily
rated 1 of 5
oolala30 5/18/2008 7:27:00 PM

I was really hoping that someone would have reviewed this before me because I want to give my two cents without having to describe the scent. I suck at describing scents. I'll review as best as I can and maybe reviewer number 2 can give you notes and all that jazz. Now....Lotus Blossom & Water Lily is a limited edition fragrance by Jo Malone and it is A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT! I think this fragrance is a hot mess. It smells cheap. When I first put it on, I immediately hated it. I washed it off but the next day I decided that I would try it again just in case the fragrance was not 'true' due to possibly being layered on top of some other fragrance I may have tested at the same time. Well, after showering, I tried this fragrance again. It was not as awful as when I initially tried it but it was still not very good. I let it dry down for a bit and after a while the fragrance was a bit more tolerable but it was still not something that I'd want to wear. Bottom line is that this fragrance just does nothing for me. I returned it and would not purchase it again under any circumstances. It is not for me.
