Sunscreen -La Mer - SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid
ombre39 7/24/2012 2:50:00 PM
I have combination skin with huge pores so I have tried many sunscreens that help control oil. La Mer is the best so far. I have tried Chanel and Clinique City Block Spf40. Clinique is a great option but I didnt feel I need such a high spf and chanel was too drying. La Mer controls oil but does not leave my skin dry. If I skip it just for one day my face would look slightly darker at the end of the day so it does make a difference keeping my skin tone even. Also if I do not use it my face becomes oily and looks greasy. My skin looks more perfect with the sunscreen. Although it is a very expensive sunscreen but I havn't been able to find a replacement.

Treatments -Dr. Hauschka - Rhythmic Night Conditioner
ombre39 2/1/2011 1:06:00 PM
I bought almost the entire range of dr haushcka products hoping it would control my oily skin and reduce the size of my pores. I used the cleansing cream, clarifying toner, normalising oil, quince day cream, sunscreen spf 30...and rhythmic night conditioner during the first month at night to allow my skin to adjust to this range. at first i can see the oiliness on my face reducing and my skin clearing beautifully...especially when i wake up after i have applied the rhythmic night conditioner. however, after a few months into this range i realise my skin is dehydrated & when i smile , my entire face creases(this looked really scary). my pores have reduced and less clogged but my skin is dehydrated and i was concerned that my skin would age prematurely so i stopped using this range. The rhythmic conditioner is rosewater & it is the only thing you apply at night (dr haushcka's approach to skincare is to apply nothing at night to allow your skin to renew itself). i think my skin might have reacted this way is because i have DEHYDRATED oily skin. this range is also extremly tedious so it didnt suit my busy lifestyle to follow this range. i need products that occupy less of my time to apply & use. (cleaning my face took 5 minutes with the cleansing cream). i still use the rose cream light (which is a wonderful cream that isnt oily & softens my skin like nothing else) in the day but i will not return to this range again.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
ombre39 2/1/2011 12:53:00 PM
I have large pores so I am very concerned with keeping my pores as clean as possible. Exfoliating my skin more often means I will have clearer pores but if I use normal exfoliators with scrubbing partcles, my skin will become thinner and more sensitive. microfoliant is gentle yet cleans my skin well. I use it in the morning after my cleanser to remove the build up over night(i tend to use a thicker cream at night). my skin feels smooth and looks radiant after i rince it off.it is an expensive exfoliator but it lasts a long time. im on my second bottle already.

Liquid -Lancome - Photogenic [DISCONTINUED]
ombre39 2/1/2011 12:48:00 PM
I have large pores(which gets blocked easily),oily T-zone and uneven skin tone. I have tried dior forever, clinique superbalance makeup and chanel double perfection compact pressed powder(among many others)....but lancome is the best one so far. I was amazed at how it looks on me!!! I am asian so I have a more yellow undertone and No 3 is a perfect match for me. dior tends to be too 'white' and clinique is 2 pink. chanel was also a good colour match but the compact makes my skin look dry and flaky so I have stopped using it. my friends even ask if I have makeup on when i use lancome because it looks so natural. it has a soft glow and does not look fake and masky like dior forever. it has medium coverage but when i need more coverage i just apply an extra layer. it doe not control my oily skin the whole day but thats expected as it suppose to have a natural look. a loose powder & some blotthing paper will fix the oil easily. the staying power is quite good but if i go clubbing the heat and sweat will take some of it away.but it does not streak even when it starts to come off a bit from the sweat (unlike l'oreal true match which left orange lines on my face the whole day -so embarrassing) this is my perfect foundation for now until i find a better one.Im on my 2nd bottle already....this is the first time I have bought the same foundation twice.

Scrubs -Clinique - 7 Day Scrub Cream
ombre39 2/1/2011 12:33:00 PM
I was switching to a clinique range so I decided to try this scrub along with the oily skin cleanser, emergency rescue mask and total turnaround cream. this scrub contains small particles that feels quite abrasive on my skin. I find it quite painful when I use it. There aren't clear instructions as to how it is suppose to be used( damp or dry skin?).When I use it on dry skin I find it too abrasive and difficult to massage in circular movements. When I wet my skin a little bit the particles seem to become runny on my skin & it becomes painful to massage my skin. maybe im using too much force to massage my skin but I feel I need to apply a certain amount of pressure to ensure that my pores are unclogged. I suggest dermalogica scrub. Its less painful to use and my skin feels cleaner afterwards.

Cleansers -Christian Dior - Rinse-off Cleansing Gel
ombre39 2/1/2011 12:26:00 PM
First of all it is the best fragranced cleanser I have ever used. It creates a mild lather and does not leave my skin dry. I have used many cleansers that claims the same thing but this cleanser is the least moisture stripping gel cleanser that I have used so far (I have tried clinique, dermalogica, vichy). I use it with the toner and my skin feels great afterwards. I also feel it cleans really well and the price is fair for the results and the amount of times you can use it. will definately purchase again.

Moisturizers -La Mer - The Moisturizing Gel Cream
ombre39 2/1/2011 12:20:00 PM
I have huge pores and this cream gel claims to have regenerative properties. I have gone through about a half of the bottle and I have not notice any major effects on my pores. It is not as oily as the original cream so it's more oily-skin friendly but for the price I didnt see much effects. I have noticed my skin tone improving but I think this cream gel does block my pores a little(well almost everything blocks my pores). luckily I only bought the smaller bottle. I would not buy it again.

Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact
ombre39 2/16/2010 6:13:00 AM
I used to have skin with a lot of acne & scaring.this powder has quite good coverage & you can apply as many layers that you require. After immediate application your face might look very matte like you have lots of makeup but after 10-15mins the powder blends in with your skin & it looks more natural. now i user a makeup base under my tinted sunscreen from clinique and just use this powder as a blotting powder. its great to use in the day but if i go to a club at night this powder will not stay well on my nose & forehead due to the sweat & heat. i rather use dior forever liquid. However , I think this powder blocks my massive pores. I try to stay away from oil control powders now also because I have flaky skin and it enhances the flaky skin.

Sunscreen -Chanel - UV Essentiel Protective UV Care Anti Pollution SPF 50
ombre39 9/17/2009 1:10:00 PM
i have extremely oily skin that goes shiny after 30 mins but this is the only sunscreen i've tried so far that doesnt make me shiny! it is very light & actually brightens my skin a bit by leaving a slight whit film on my face. however,im beginning to think this sunscreen is also the reson why my pores are getting blocked more often these days...im not 100% sure yet but usually around dinner time my face feels quite uncomfortable. when i gently run my nails on my face there seems to be 'black' dirty stuff left in my fingernails...if feels like all the dead skin cells, oil & dirt stuck together. when i used dr hauschka sunscreen i didnthave the same problem but i had a very oily face. I guess no product is perfect since this sunscreen has oil absorbing properties. my face is very protected from the sun from the high spf & although the bottle is tiny but it last a very long time. if i can find an alternative that is equally as good minus the pore blocking i will change my sunscreen but for now,....i will still stick to this sunscreen ^^

Mascara -Kanebo - Kanebo Mascara 38*C Silk Performance
ombre39 9/17/2009 1:01:00 PM
In the past I have always battled with smudging mascara since I have oily skin & tend to sweat easily. This is the first mascara which hasn'y smudged. Its easy to remove...just use warm water & pat your eyelashes & everything comes off without a trace! Its very good for everyday wear but it doesn't do much for volume & doesn't curl my lashes very well as I have Asian lashes...which are straight. Theres actually a lot of mascaras on the market which is also developing the same anti-smudge formula at lower prices & whick also has lash building &thickening properties which this mascars doesn't have. If the new masacras work the does the same wonders for the smudge i won't purchase this product again. nevertheless, I it has saved me from a lot of panda-eyes ^^ latest update: since many new mascaras also have similar properties as this such as clinique high impact i wouldnt purchase this again. clinique's mascars has curling & volumising properties whereas this mascara simply makes my lashes darker. im asian so i have very staright lashes & i would prefer something more curling.
