Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme
olympialetantoli 7/17/2012 12:20:00 AM
I hesitated to pick this up since I wasn't too sure if I could use it on the face. Oh well, 11 dollars isn't so bad. I'd figured I'd give it a go. It's been two weeks. I have the plastic 200g tube from Mexico. The product smells lovely in my opinion. I like the thick consistency. I've been using it on my face, arms, hands, knees and neck. It is pretty greasy after a while BUT I use so much of the product so it is my fault. I find that on my arms it feels powdery. Yet on face it's kinda greasy. I use it at night or when I'm at home & not planning on applying makeup. It makes my skin feel rather nice in the morning when I wash my face. Its surprising something so cheap can do what all my 25$ creams do. I cannot say any other cream has made my skin feel so soft. I've had a few spots and has helped avoid them scaring as badly. Anyways it hasn't clogged my pores. Usually a cream can cause major breakouts for me if it is this greasy. But I never go without moisturizer, that is a big mistake...just because you have oily skin doesn't mean your skin doesn't need moisture. I will buy again depending on the German version. My mum is bringing me back a tin of the Original Nivea to try out. I am curious to see if there is a difference between the Mexico or German version.

Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil
olympialetantoli 4/28/2012 9:01:00 PM
I've been using this product for over 5 months now, started before Christmas. I didn't even get a sample first so it was a big gamble. But since I knew Sephora would take it back if I didn't like it after a week I was willing to purchase right then and there. I was worried that it would cause me to break out because some reviews said they had spots/break outs. I cannot confirm or deny this occurrence since I'm already slightly acne prone but never anything serious. I love oils for my combination skin, they are very luxurious in my opinion. I used Darphin oil every night a while back but it is far more pricey than this bottle & you don't get much from Darphin. I used to use L'oreal but it wasn't enough, so I tried LUSH creams (amazing as well) but sometimes I didn't feel it penetrating the skin or some of the LUSH creams are too thick, ie Skindrink. Argan oil really does wonders for my skin it feels soft, supple, so gorgeous, and gives off a wonderful glow. I feel hydrated even in the morning. At night we lose most of our moisture so I recommend moisturizing no matter what. I love how light the oil is too, I have to say the bottle with the dropper is cute and looks pretty on my makeup table but I drip and drop more onto the back of my hand than I intend to use so I've only got a quarter of the big bottle left. I will purchase this again after the summer I think. I want to finish the bottle which shouldn't take too long and see if another oil (which is cheaper) can do the same job. If i can't find a substitute I will purchase again. But I love the smell, its very subtle and earthy. If you apply before bed, give it 15mins to absorb into your skin or else it will be wasted product & go into your sheets.

Polishes -China Glaze - Great Barrier Beige
olympialetantoli 4/28/2012 8:03:00 PM
I've been desperately searching for this colour, I choose this colour at my nail salon every single time. The women ask me to choose a different shade but I refuse unless it's a special event I'm sticking with Great Barrier Beige. I can't say anything about application since someone else does it for me and it always looks great. I adore this colour, beautiful, chic and understated. Some people hate these types of shades but I prefer neutral shades for work or during the week. Otherwise, I found the polish is great with 2 applications. Then top coat. I don't know if its the china glaze formula but i found it never chipped. Instead it would somewhat crack after 4 or 5 days, depending on how much cooking/cleaning I do. But I need to find a bottle of this, I know it was a limited edition so I might be out of luck.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Handwritten Matte2
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 2:36:00 PM
Handwritten is a rich chocolate brown, it doesn't come out reddish on my like some other reviews state. I'm an NC25 to NC30/35 in the summer. I love the Matte effect very dramatic but toned down since it is neutral. It is earthy and kinda flat but that's perfect for me since I wanted a shades for Autumn. I purchased this in a 4 set with Bamboo, Blanc Type and Scene a muted grey blue. I use Handwritten in my crease, blend blend blend and then a little bit of Scene in the outer V. All together these shades work well for a classic fall look. I haven't had a chance to use it with other colours but I can see it being versitle since it is a neutral brown. I wouldn't say its a must have but if you are well on your way to owning over half of the MAC makeup line you should try this colour out.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bamboo
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 2:27:00 PM
I really love the quality of MAC's Matte eyeshadows. Matte eyeshadows give off a classic put together look. Bamboo is a dark nudey colour with a hint of orange/peachy undertone. It's one of MAC's permanent eyeshadows. I think this would look nice on another skin tone. I'm an NC25 towards NC30/35 in summer. It's a little too orange on me, I use it regardless as a base when I want to use other matte colours for a smokey eye. But I think I will stick to MAC's Blanc Type or Vanilla or Yogurt. I think Bamboo goes well with Handwritten which is a dark chocolate shade and very matte. I don't hate this but I don't love it either. If it wasn't so peachy orange it would be a winner in my heart.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 2:14:00 PM
A friend was kind enough to buy this for my birthday, she wears it so I was always saying how much I love it on her. So she picked it up for a birthday a few years ago. I didn't find it very easy to apply, maybe because I'm a bit shaky with liquid eyeliner but I found myself scared to apply this. I practiced often but I didn't like the texture in the end or how it looked on me. I didn't like that it wasn't opaque black, it took several swipes with my slanted brush to apply it so that the line stood out enough. It just wasn't black enough for me I'm afraid. It almost looks chalky black, ew! The forumla takes very long to dry in my opinion. It smudged easily and didn't last very long, 5 hours tops. Doesn't look smooth on my eyelid. Worst part after a year and half it was dried out...how disappointing. I asked the MAC makeup girl and she said it was my fault that I didn't tighten the lid up enough....I think she's wrong, the lid was secure as any of my other products. Sometimes it was so tight I couldn't open it. Not to mention I had to wash my brush as well after every use because it would be super stiff the next day. This shouldn't be drying out so fast and if it does they should make it in a smaller package and cheaper. I don't know, some other friends use it and love it but I found that Bobbi Brown's Gel Eyeliner is a million times better. Compare both is my suggestion see what works for you. Lucky it didn't cost me anything! But I'd never spend the money on MAC fluidline.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 1:55:00 PM
I bought this because at 27 I'm worrying about skin damage, I have one sunspot which even with makeup is kinda visible. Even thought I have always been safe in terms of sun saftey, SPF 30 when tanning. I used an SPF 50 primer at one time but it was too greasy and my makeup has some protection. I needed more protection obviously. So I'm starting now, I figured SPF 55 would be the sure thing to protect against harmful rays. I saw that it says Dry Touch and it goes on very matte, I use this on my face so far and a little goes a long way. I then use a primer, I love the way it feels not greasiness, no slickness, totally mattifies. I haven't broken out or anything and I've been using it for two weeks. I hate the way it feels on my hands though, they feel dry and craggly. I wanted to use it on my hands. Well I like that the bottle is small enough to tote around, smells okay. I will repurchase if I run out but I doubt I will since I'm using only on my face at the moment. Spent $12 so it wasn't too expensive. Only draw back is that its too dry on my hands & I don't like that feeling, its like I rubbed baby powder on my hands, just has a chalky feeling and that irritates me. Like someone scratching nails down a blackboard. But I will use it on my face for sure.

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 1:40:00 PM
Best liquid eyeliner I've used, I bought this after careful thought and comparison. I'm awful with applying liquid eyeliner. I hated MAC's fluidline, I didn't like the texture or how it went on and after a year and half it dried out and it looked chalky on my eye. Thumbs down for MAC, BUT thank God for Bobbi Brown. But this product is creamy, a little goes a long long way, feels lovely going on and comes out very black. I use a slanted brush for application and it's perfect. However I bought the brush for this, big mistake the brush is awful came out very thick and my hand was too wobbly, not easy for use. Now with my MAC slanted brush its smooth and I can make the line as thick or thin. Stays the whole day, last so long. Espcially with heat and humidity of summer it last ages. I'm so shocked how dramatic and intense my eyes look. I keep doing double takes. Looks amazing over eyeshadow. Packaging is great, I can tell the quality is great, and I'm sure to purchase again. I doubt it will dry out like MAC fluidline because its so much creamier.

Lipstick -Shiseido - Perfect Rouge Lipstick BE 109 - Spiced Cream
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 1:27:00 PM
I have respect for this brand in terms of their skin care line, my flatmate in uni was Japanese and she turned me onto their cleansers and creams. I only use their eyeliners but never tried their lipsticks. I have loved nude lipcolours for years. I was hoping that BE 109 Spiced Cream would work well on me. I have MAC Myth but I have to take many steps to make it work with lipliner and lipgloss. I heard Spiced Cream was used in the movie SuckerPunch on the character Babydoll. So being a makeup obsessed girl I had to try. It is very drying, I applied lip conditioner prior because I could still see some flakiness. The makeup girl at the counter said that it's moisturising however I have to disagree. I had to apply at least three times to get a good coverage because it was so sheer and it didn't glide well. It was very natural looking tone but still rich, thankfully it was pretty nude. It didn't make a huge statement. I think I have to use a lipliner and lipgloss to make it work on me in the end. And I don't want to do that with another nude. The packaging is adoreable I must say, very sleek and shiny. I guess thats why it is so expensive. But I'm not willing to spend more than $20 on lipstick. The colour is long lasting I must say because I was drinking from my water bottle for the next two hours and I could still see it on my lips.

Fragrances -Givenchy - Very Irresistible L'intense
olympialetantoli 8/28/2011 12:58:00 PM
Exquisite, inspiring and mysterious is how I describe the new creation by Givenchy. I was going to smell the original Very Irresistible Givenchy yesterday, my mother had purchased the original years back and we have different body chemistry but this is the one perfume that smelt lovely on me as well. Normally I hate celebrity endorsed scents, it takes away from the scent in my opinion. Luckily I like Liv Tyler so I’m not embarrassed to wear it. The original is floral and modern and fresh because of the Lemon Verbena. I liked the original because it was more adorable and playful. And much lighter than what I usually wear. I tend to usually wear scents like Alien, Coco, Pure Poison, Sicily and Dior Addict because they are stronger but unique. I want something new for Autumn/Winter season and I’ve finally found it! The lady at the counter suggested I try the new L’Intense version. I haven’t wanted to repurchase the original because it reminds me of an ex even though its scent is still beautiful. If a scent reminds me of someone or something negative I can’t wear it at all. L’Intense smells different to me, has a little bit of the original underneath. From the first spray I was intrigued. I’ve smelt the other versions that have come out over the years and I hate them all personally. This however from the first spray captured me right away, its floral chypre comes out instantly to me, just a lovely bouquet of roses. The mixture isn’t harsh like Westwood Boudoir (which I hate) or Versace Baby Rose Jeans (only wear around Christmas, very rosy and strong). L’Intense still has the flirty energy of the original but there is a slight darkness and edgy feeling probably due to the musk and patchouli. I feel like this scent goes deeper and has a mysterious quality to it. Reminded me a little of Stella by Stella McCartney which never worked with my body chemistry sadly. Overall it comes out modern and feminine, and a hint of freshness due to the plum top note. The bottle may not be very appeal to most because of the tacky rose tattoo but the juice in the bottle is beautiful and that’s all that matters to me. I still like that the bottle is long with the twist, and I prefer how the glass is black to purple. There is only one shortcoming to the scent doesn’t last too long. I got two samples, I came home showered yesterday and tried it on around 7 by 11 o’clock at night couldn’t smell it without sniffing my wrist. I’m wearing it again today and I find it just as gorgeous, I have to have this scent and I’m going to purchase this tomorrow as my new Fall scent!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Sin Eyeshadow
olympialetantoli 8/27/2011 6:43:00 PM
Sin is my third fav colour from UD, could use it as a base or a highlight. I prefer Midnight Cowboy Rides Again (beige champagne glitter) & Sellout (off white shimmer). Sin is alot like MAC's Naked Lunch but a little pinker. Its got a hint of pink which makes it wearable on its own too. Its a frosty/shimmery in texture. The hint of pink is noticable on my NC25/30. Not too different from Sellout which isn't as pink. I use Sellout as a highlighter or in my tear duct...never on its own because it makes me look like a teeny bopper. I have purchased many UD eyeshadows over the years, they always seem to crack though. Don't know if its the product formula or the packaging to blame...but I can't save it after it cracks. They are very soft and lovely like Stila's eyeshadows. Glides on smooth. The cost is my major draw back in Canada its pretty expensive over $20 with taxes and when I can just use Naked Lunch or Hush as a dupe I don't see the point. Anyways I won't buy again because it's already cracked and I haven't owned it for a year. =(

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Spices Quadra
olympialetantoli 8/27/2011 4:26:00 PM
Chanel eyeshadow quads are amazing, they have four shadows for base, highlight, crease and liner. They work well together. Spices is my favourite, easy to wear and natural. There is a champagne colour, apricot, brownish bronze and a light golden frost. Gutted, this is DISCONTINUED in Canada! Argh, I'm so so upset. I love this quad. I have another 2 from Chanel but this is by far the best. I've hit pan in three of the colour, the only one left is the Light Chocolate colour. Sigh, I tried to repurchase today but nobody has it.... And worst I cannot buy it online from Chanel US which seems to be the only place carrying it. So it is pricey... upwards of 50 BUT if you think about buying 2 or 3 MAC eyeshadows even the pan versions will cost you just as much or more... so you really are getting a good deal. I love how sheer & luminous these colours are. It isn't super pigmented but I don't mind. I like to build it up with my 217 Mac brush. All of Chanels eyeshadows have amazing quality. Really made my brown eyes pop. It didn't look different depending on my skin tone, I'm usually an NC25 but in the summer I can reach NC30/NC35....and its just as wearable. SO it should work with most skin types. But alas, I'm out of luck. Maybe I'll go to NYC before winter to visit family and pick one up. So depressing that I'm this sad over an eyeshadow set but thats how much I loved my Spices. I have Golden Eyes and Vanities and this is by far the one that I wore the most. If I knew ahead of time that it was being discontinued I'd have bought one. I also love the sleek package. Classic black, comes in a little velvet pouch. The compact is amazing, I've dropped it several times, never broken. Also the mirrior is spectacular. I use the mirror for application even for tweezing. Very good quality but I expect nothing less from Chanel. I read somewhere Leighton Meester wore these in the movie Conutry Strong....and apparently Armani has a similar version of this quad. Hopefully that won't be discontinued too!!

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Matte-Pink Pout
olympialetantoli 8/13/2011 9:44:00 PM
I purchased this a month ago, I heard Khloe Kardashian wears this...who knows! When I swatched it at the store I was torn between Nude Attitude and Pink Pout...I opted for Pink Pout instead because I don't have enough Pinks and it seemed like a fun shade. I love matte lipsticks for a very made up face. Pink Pout is a nude pink, they say its a blue-toned pink which is true. I've heard it compared to MAC Snob, I think this is less intense. It never ceases to amaze me that people complain about matte lipsticks being "drying" HELLO its called matte, it's suppose to lack moisture and luster to get the flat finish! The forumla doesn't give moisture so ALWAYS put a lip balm or a lip conditioner or vaseline on before for at least 10 mins and then once your lips have absorbed the moisture that is needed you can apply the lipstick. I always use a lip conditioner like MAC or my Rosy Lips by Vaseline before applying lipsticks or lipglosses. Super cheap for $10. I like the packaging as well, very good quality for drugstore makeup. Big bonus is that it lasts very long. Only downside for me is that it is a "Barbie" girl colour and I can't wear it everyday.

Treatments -Clinique - Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Oil-Free
olympialetantoli 8/13/2011 9:16:00 PM
Awful, worst thing I've ever used from Clinique. Didn't treat acne or any breakouts, wasn't soothing in the least especially when it caused me to have rashes on my face. This shouldn't be called a moisturizer. I bought this with the soap bar and toner. The first time I used this I not only felt tightness and my skin was dried out NOW I anticipated as much BUT also I broke out in tiny little bumps on my forehead and sides of my face. The bumps were so tiny, like pin sized. The rash appeared in the morning when I woke up so I freaked, I couldn't understand how this had happened. My skin was itchy as well. I avoided using it for a few months but I kept using the soap and toner without any problems. I had then tried it again because I had some very bad outbreaks. I only applied the product on those exact places and had the same awful reaction. My skin normally isn't that sensitive but this product irritated my skin like nothing else. I used this five or six times over a year and threw this away. I would have thrown it out sooner if it wasn't so damn pricey over $20. Anyways if you want a acne wash Clinique is fine but I'd rather use Benzagel for spots. They shouldn't call it a moisturizer when it's so thick when applied. =( Never again!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 266 Thin Small Angle (Synthetic hair)
olympialetantoli 8/13/2011 8:22:00 PM
I've had this brush for 6 years now. It's in very good still, I take good care of it and make sure to only wash the front part of the brush avoding getting the wood wet. I use this for gel eyeliner, also to pat on Carbon eyeshadow on top so that the gel sets. When I use MAC Smoulder on my eyelid I use the 266 brush to pull the colour inwards towards my tear duct and outwards. It gives me excellent control. It's almost dummy proof for gel eyeliner IMO. If you use Blacktrack yet don't have the most steady hand this will make the job far more easier if you put a little amount on, wipe off excess and just pat along the eyelash and then go over again if need be. Anyways, I haven't had any bristles break loose thankfully, I have noticed that when I reshape after washing it isn't as full despite never seeing any bristles come out. And I always worry about the front coming loose because I do wash this very often (twice a month) and it goes through some abuse in my makeup bag. I will repurchase again in a year or two.
