Highlighters -TheBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer
rated 5 of 5

Mary-Lou Manizer was quite the surprise for me. It's very flattering and a little goes a long way. Its quality is as good as it's gonna get for highlighters, but I don't think that it would look as nice as it does on fair or medium toned skin as it would on darker skin. It's very easy to put too much of this product especially since highlighting can be addictive but once you've mastered how to apply it, the results will be magical. Will be repurchasing if I ever hit pan, which I highly doubt will happen soon.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
rated 3 of 5

This concealer was great at first but I find that it doesn't cover red spots too well and that it patches up after a number of hours. I'm from a tropical country, and the heat doesn't help with this. Also, it clogged up my pores after a week or so of use and because of this, they look bigger than they used to. Application of this product can be tricky. If you spread it too thin, acne scars are hardly covered but if you layer it, it's so obvious that you have concealer on it's embarrassing. Also, if you make the mistake of putting a little more than the estimated amount you have to use for the perfect coverage, it can emphasize your blemishes even more. It's a pain to have to be precise on the amount of concealer you have to put on especially when you're in a hurry and it can be a bad start for your day. The only thing I like about it is that it can last a long while even if the size of the container is deceptively small. I do not recommend this concealer to oily skin and to those who live in hot climate. I use NC 20 for reference.

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Foundation brush

I hated this brush! It left streaks everywhere, even when I tried correcting them the brush just doesn't blend the foundation properly! And it takes me twice the length of time to put on my foundation because of its bad quality. Plus, it's hard to wash. No matter how many times I clean it, it still feels dirty. What a waste of money and time.

Loose Powders -TheFACEShop - Dewy Flower Moist Loose Powder #23 Natural Beige
rated 2 of 5

It's a habit of mine, going in and out of faceshop and purchasing one item at a time because their stuff is cheap and their skincare is great. I bought this product because it looked appealing and I got bored with my usual face powder. It didn't work for me, though. Pros: -fragrant -pretty packaging -feels light and silky at first application Cons: - TERRIBLE with high spf foundation - makes you look too made-up - not ideal for oily skin - cakes up when reapplying I don't know if this would be a good product for normal/dry skin types since my friends don't use it, but for oily to very oily skin type, this isn't recommended.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
rated 1 of 5

I bought this primer because one of the magazines I regularly read recommended it. When I tested it on my hand (big mistake, but I didn't want to take off my makeup at the mall), It felt very silky and I noticed that my skin looked smoother and clearer. I bought it, of course, since I was really impressed with the result after testing it. Once I used it on my face the very next day before putting on my foundation, after a few hours or so my foundation started to feel uncomfortable. When I looked at the mirror, oh my gosh!! It was a total disaster! My skin looked flaky and my blush had disappeared already. I looked like I had extremely scaly skin; my makeup was just so flaky and horrible. I don't recommend this primer for oily skin, it makes it worse!! This primer would probably be better for normal/dry skin. Argh! All that money wasted!

Lipstick -Shiseido - Perfect Rouge -- BE208 Baby
rated 5 of 5

I am quite shy when it comes to wearing lipstick because it makes me feel too made-up, especially in a country where very few people wear full-on makeup on a daily basis. I love this lipstick because it serves as both lip color and moisturizer. Even when I have dry lips, it evens out the chap and feels light and non-sticky. I also love the color. It looks very natural, almost like I'm not wearing anything on my lips. I find that it suits me even if my skin got darker from the sun. I also am a fan of the packaging. It looks very elegant and sleek.

Liquid -Shiseido - Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 PA+++
rated 4 of 5
olgaisme 5/19/2010 2:10:00 AM

Love this! It's the only foundation that works for me for a long time. Since I have oily skin and live in a tropical country, wearing foundation that provides protection from the sun is very important. When I tried it at first, I wasn't quite sure of what to expect because other brands of foundation that I have used before made my skin feel like it was burning after only a few hours and they melted off quickly, leaving an unpleasant feeling that made me want to wipe off my skin and plunge into ice cold water minute after minute. This product is a bit expensive, but for the quality that it gives, I'm giving it four stars. It's ideal for normal to very oily skin. Pros: - great coverage - lasts all day long, doesn't smudge - high SPF - great for Asian skin - great for oily skin - non-irritating scent - easy to use - matte - light on the skin Cons: - can make dry skin look flaky - not recommended if you're going to take pictures with flash. It can make you look ghostly. - dries up too fast if the bottle is almost empty. - cakes too much if you put powder foundation over it - difficult to take off

Blush -Lancome - Blush Subtil (all colors)
rated 3 of 5
olgaisme 5/19/2010 1:57:00 AM

I bought this blush about four years ago, and back then I remember it being my HG. It lasted the whole day, and the color didn't fade so much, even after being under the sun for a long time. Since then, I've tried different brands because I do get bored with using one product for a long time. When Lancome had a sale recently, I decided to try this one again. I noticed that it doesn't have the same quality as it had before, which left me greatly disappointed. It fades fast now, and I have to reapply 3 or more times for a day out. Also, I noticed that it isn't as "compact" (not sure if that's the right term) as it was before. Once you graze your brush through it, lots of the powder blush comes off and it scatters around making the container and the mirror in it to be quite dirty. You have to wipe the mirror constantly because of this. I also don't like the packaging. It takes up too much space in my make-up kit. I like to keep my kit light and I don't like for it to look like it's about to burst so the size of the container doesn't work for me at all. I prefer the round type. I wouldn't buy this product again. It's too expensive for the quality that it gives.
