Cleansers -Simple - Cleansing Facial Wipes
rated 2 of 5

These were horrible. The cloths were extremely scratchy and left my skin bright red after I used them. Whenever I used these, the next day my cheeks would be an abnormal shade of red (i.e. it would be really irritated). It also broke me out, and I usually NEVER break out. Although these are cheap, they are simply not worth it.

Cleansers -Ponds - Chamomile & White Tea Cleansing Cloths
rated 5 of 5

I usually use Pond's cold cream to remove my makeup but even after washing my face with cold water after I use the cream, my face feels a bit oily still. So when I initially received this as a sample, I loved it. I loved the smell and how moist the towelettes were, as well as how effective they were when it came to removing even my stubborn waterproof mascara. I ran out of the sample wipes and switched to a different brand but found that the different brand irritated my skin. So I recently purchased two packs of 30 Chamomile and White Tea towelettes and fell in love all over again! It still removes all my makeup and stays super moist; the only thing I would change is the smell :( I used to like it but now I find it to be too strong and perfumey.

Mascara -New York Color - Instant Lash Mascara
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 6/30/2012 3:03:00 PM

To this day I don't understand how a $1 NYC mascara is infinitely better than every single other brand of mascara I've tried (to name just a few: L'Oreal, Maybelline, CoverGirl, Jordana, Clinique, etc.). It is the blackest mascara I've ever owned, which is perfect as I have black lashes that need the extra boost of black to stand out. It also separates my lashes and hardly ever clumps. HG Mascara for sure!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Perfection Volumizing Mascara
rated 5 of 5

I bought this mascara (in Blackest Black) right after I read the positive review on MUA. I quite like it. Since I have Asian lashes (meaning that they're stick straight!), it can be a pain in the butt when it comes to finding a mascara that will hold a curl. This mascara, however, definitely curls my lashes! Before I even use my lash curler, my lashes are already curled. What's even better is that it holds the curl throughout the day. There is a little clumping but nothing severe; it can easily be solved by using a lash comb. The only thing that I don't like is the packaging (it reminds me of a marker....) but that is something I can easily ignore for the beautiful and amazing length/volume this mascara provides for my lashes!

BB Cream -Lioele - Beyond the Solution BB Cream
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 3/3/2011 12:52:00 AM

HG HG HG! I love this! First off, the pink and white packaging is adorable. The only thing I would gripe about is that it is a pump, and too much can come out. I lightly tap it to get the perfect amount. I use this as my concealer, as it is the perfect shade, but you can use it as a foundation. It leaves a dewy look and looks absolutely amazing. I got it for about $15 online, which I don't think is a bad price because it contains a lot of product- I can see this lasting for at least a year. I will definitely repurchase this!

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Apple By Apple - Super Lash
rated 2 of 5
ochocho 11/15/2010 11:24:00 PM

After reading mostly positive reviews on this product, I decided to buy the avocado one via Amazon. First off, the price is awesome. It was around $4 shipped for one tube. That was one of the factors that persuaded me to buy this mascara; if it was a miss it wouldn't hurt my wallet that much. I was a bit turned off that the mascara didn't come with a seal or anything, but I can deal with it. The smell is okay, I wouldn't call it pleasant but it's not revolting either. I'm pretty indifferent towards the smell- to me it smells like cucumbers and melon ._. odd. anyway, for the first 4 weeks I got amazing results. I have a sucky mascara curler, and so I didn't use it...yet the mascara still curled my eyelashes and made them significantly longer! I was so impressed. By the way, I have Asian lashes which means they're super straight and hard to curl, so the result was very impressive. However, after those 4 weeks, it all started going downhill. The mascara got super dry and started clumping horribly. When I applied it you can see all these miniature chunks of mascara. Gross. I tried to keep on using it, hoping to see the return of the fabulous results I got during the first 4 weeks, but to no avail. For now, I'll be searching for my HG mascara in stores around where I live. I still haven't decided whether I'll buy this mascara again :/

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 11/8/2010 4:45:00 PM

MUA, you've done it again. I have been looking for a great lip balm because as winter approaches, my lips are super chapped. i tried the regular burt's bees lip balm (the peppermint one) but it made my lips super dry. so for a while i doubted burt's bees products until i looked up the ratings of lip balmson MUA and found the one with mango butter! oh goodness, i can't even describe how amazing it is. the smell is absolutely wonderful because it actually smells like mangoes. to be more specific, it smells like mangoes with a dash of orange but nevertheless heavenly! also, here's no aftertaste. it seems to moisturize immediately which is a huge plus! best of all, it's 1005 natural. def my HG lip balm.

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - 3-in-1 Styler Hairdryer
rated 4 of 5
ochocho 9/8/2010 5:45:00 PM

Price: about $27 Purchased at: Target Includes: hairdryer and 3 attachments I absolutely love this product! Before purchasing, I looked up some reviews on this product (there's only a few). It seemed like it was worth the money so I brought it...and I love it! I have wavy hair, but also kind straight so I almost never wear my hair down. Plus, when I use a hairdryer it just makes my hair super frizzy and poofy :/ However, after using this hairdryer, i have really pretty curls (using the beach wave attachment) that look so natural! I really, really like this! Although I've only tried one of the 3 attachments, I highly recommend this. EDIT: took a lippie off. the motor is too dang loud!!! :( i usually use this in the morning, but not everyone in my family is awake yet. Keep in mind I'm using this hairdryer downstairs, with the door closed, yet my parents say they can still hear it from upstairs. I still love the results so I'm going to keep on using it! :P

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
ochocho 4/2/2010 5:22:00 PM

Okay, yes, when first applied it feels great-a tingly, minty feeling. Very soothing, too. But my lips became so chapped after a while and I had no idea why! Then I checked the ingredients list..it contained peppermint oil, which will dry out your lips! While it may feel great for a few seconds, I don't think it's worth damaging my lips for.

Eyeliner -Ulta - automatic eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 4/2/2010 5:16:00 PM

This is my HG eyeliner! I've tried eyeliners from Rimmel, Revlon, Maybelline, Urban Decay, L'oreal, Shiseido and more. Mostly I was looking for an eyeliner that wouldn't smudge, but none worked- except for the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner, which was wonderful, except for the price- $17. Uh, yeah, I don't love it THAT much. So I was stuck with a rather crappy eyeliner that still cost me $8...until I read the MUA reviews for this eyeliner. First off, I love the price. The original price is $7, which I would gladly pay for. But if that's not enough, there are CONSTANTLY sales for this eyeliner! BOGO, one for $2, even one for $1. Great, great deal. Packaging is good, I guess I don't have much to say about it. The first thing I noticed when I applied was that it was creamy-although not as creamy as the 24/7 one, but hey, I'm not complaining. It was creamy -enough-. I noticed the darkness of the color was pretty good (btw, this is for the black eyeliner), but I had to apply two times to get the right color that I wanted. I liked that the end was pointy which made it easy for application, but over time it became rounded but still great for application. The staying power was good. The first few minutes after I applied it smudged a little but I brushed it away. After that, no smudging whatsoever. It's also def waterproof! I've worn this to the pool, the beach, the shower...and it has stayed on without fail. in fact, i don't even reapply after i swim because it still looks great! One thing to keep in mind is to cap this!!!! it might just have been me but before i never capped my eyeliner, causing it to dry out. now i cap it after each use and since then it has remained super creamy and great! def would purchase this again, and again, and again.

Polishes -OPI - Bubble Bath
rated 4 of 5
ochocho 4/1/2010 8:53:00 PM

I'm not crazy about the price, but I had a great coupon so I got this for about $2. When I put on the first coat, I noticed it was streaky but figured after one or two more coats it would be fine. i love how this dried really fast. after putting on the second coat it wasn't as streaky but on one nail it was pretty bad. i didn't have time to put on a third coat so i hurriedly put on a top coat. now, the color is only okay. It's too pink for my taste, but still looks decent. overall, i wouldn't purchase this again as this will probably last a while. EDIT: after a few more months, i really like this color. i usually now use three-four coats, which is perfect. with a topcoat, for me, it lasts up to about 5 days. it's still streaky buttt i've learned to deal with it because the result is really beautiful!

Masks -Freeman - Feeling Beautiful - Facial CLAY MASK Avocado & Oatmeal
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 2/26/2010 1:39:00 PM

This is my favorite facial mask! First, the packaging is okay. It's a squeeze tube so it comes out easily. However, since I am almost finished with this product (and needs to buy another one soon!) it's getting harder to squeeze...so that's a con. When I first squeezed it out onto my finger I was pleasantly surprised. It felt cool and not slimy, but kind of firm. Which is a plus! There is a scent because they add fragrance to it (check the ingrediets) but I liked it. It wasn't too strong or anything. Then I started smearing it on my face. It felt SOOO good. It felt like it was refrigerated (of course it wasn't...it was stored in room temperature :P ) but not ice cold-refreshing cold! It was really easy to spread and soon my face was covered. I left it on for about 15-20 minutes and it was dry by then. Keep in mind I put a lot on so a thinner layer would probably take only 10 minutes to dry. I washed it off with warm water....such a great feeling. I did end up getting water all over the place though...most of it came right off when I washed my face but I had to go back and wash some excess clay left on my forehead. I use this twice a week to clear my blackheads. It really works! I instantly saw results; you see a lot less of them. Overall, this is an AMAZING product for a great price

Styling Products -Farouk CHI - Chi Iron Guard
rated 4 of 5
ochocho 1/21/2010 10:46:00 PM

Like the other reviewers for this product, I found the smell to be absolutely sickening. It's very strong, even if you use one spray. I could smell it for hours. I guess I would describe the smell as this sour, burn hair smell. If you were willing to push the smell issue aside, it works well. However, I will be searching for another product that does not make my friends gag. EDIT: I want to be absolutely fair and raise the rating from a 2 to a 4. I don't notice the smell anymore, it's very light and goes away quickly. I realized that I was using way too much and that's why the smell was so strong. Like I said before, it works really well, so while I am not 100% sure i will purchase this product again, i'll consider it.

Conditioner -Thermasilk - Heat Activated Moisturizing Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
ochocho 1/21/2010 10:12:00 PM

The first thing I noticed about this product was the smell- it was disgusting, like a strong fake floral smell. I wrinkled my nose but proceeded to use it anyway. It's not supposed to form bubbles but it still felt weird as I lathered my hair. When I rinsed my hair, I noticed how nice my hair felt and how silky it felt...when it was under water. However, after drying my hair, I noticed how greasy it looked. Nope, it didn't look shiny...GREASY. My hair did feel soft though. A few minutes ago, as I read the reviews on this site I realized it even contained alcohol....which is SUPER BAD for your hair. I'm going to take another shower because I am now super disgusted with this product. Oh, and it weighs down your hair so it looks like you haven't showered for a bit. And to think I thought there was something wrong with my hair serum... I will not be repurchasing this product.

Eyeliner -Ulta - Automatic eyeliner Black
rated 5 of 5
ochocho 12/27/2009 5:27:00 PM

Best eyeliner, for sure. I personally have tested over 6 different kinds of eyeliner, and with the exception of the Urban Decay 24/7, they all smudged. However, since the 24/7 pencil was a bit on the expensive side I decided to look for a cheaper option. Luckily, I found this eyeliner, and for only $7...plus, since Ulta was having a buy one get one free sale I got two eyeliners for $7! Great deal. It's sort of waterproof. After swimming for 2 hours and taking a shower, the eyeliner somewhat stayed on. It ended up being a bit smudgy though, but nothing too obvious. The color goes on really dark, so no need to reapply...it also stays on very well. It's also easy to remove. One thing I don't like is how it doesn't have a built in sharpener...but since I have an automatic eyeliner sharpener, it doesn't bother me THAT much. EDIT: Well, it's been about three weeks and I've been using this eyeliner everyday. I realized it was impossible to sharpen it, and as a result no color would show up when I literally dragged it under my eye. I had to reapply several times. However, the waterproof-ness was nice and stayed on throughout hours of swimming practice. I paid $7 for two of these, but next time I'll wait for the $1 sale. Edit again!: I changed it back to five stars. I realized no color was showing up because I don't cap my automatic eyeliners -_- now that I have started to cap it, it's very creamy and stays. One complaint though...for me, the staying power is good unless I apply it then wash my face. Then the liner stays on and doesn't smudge. It's worth it though.
