BB Cream -Boscia - BB Cream SPF 27 PA++

Oxidizes and turns orange on skin. Also, it has shimmer in it, which I don't care to have on my face. I much prefer Dr. Jart+ - less chemicals and none of the aforementioned problems. Pluses of the product: Nice consistency, applies smoothly.

Great value product. Only complaint is it is VERY oily feeling. My eyes actually sting because it starts to get into them if I don't quickly rinse with water after applying.

Treatments -Philosophy - The Oxygen Peel

This broke me out and the packaging is very unsanitary - it requires dipping fingers into the jars. The application is messy - as soon as you apply the second product to your face, it immediately foams, sticks to your fingers and then requires you to go back for more. Also, scraping the foam off your face? What does that do? Should have stuck to asking for a sample instead of wasting money on the package. Microdelivery peel much better.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia

While not cheap, this is a great tool to invest in if you're interested in having super clean skin. If you wear makeup, this cleans up to 6x more than a cleanser on its own, really getting the leftover face wash, moisturizer, primer, concealer, foundation, powder, blush and bronzer out of your skin. Listen to all those layers blocking your pores!! I don't care for the face wash that it came with and use it with Clarins daily exfoliating wash in the morning. BEST combination for clearing the pores on my nose. Actually unclogs them and minimizes their appearance. Not even Biore strips do that for me. I use it with the delicate brush head (softest) and do recommend cleaning the brush head with hydrogen peroxide every few days. Changing the brush head as recommended every few months actually does make a difference. The $25 every 3-4 months is worth it. I do wish a hard travel case came with it.

I'm so glad they came out with the delicate version of the brush head. This is much more suited for me than the sensitive one. A lot softer on the skin.

Cleansers -Clarins - One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

This exfoliator is excellent. I have a lot of clogged pores on my nose and I discovered that this cleanser when used in conjunction with my Clarisonic Mia is the BEST at making my nose smooth and greatly decreasing pore visibility. I do think it's a little harsh, but hey, not even Biore can make my skin look this clean!! Smell is lovely too.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 3 of 5
o_sonancy 5/17/2012 9:15:00 PM

This product does a great job of increasing the intensity of eyeshadow, but Too Faced's version is so much better. UD's packaging is not sanitary (dipping stick), drying (who wants wrinkles around their eyes?) and because it's drying, it appears that way too. Clarify: the eyeshadow will look cakey.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5

the purpose of using eyeshadow primer is to: 1) increase the staying power of eyeshadow and eyeliner 2) decrease the movement of eyeshadow and eyeliner (smears, smudges, etc.) 3) increase the intensity of eyeshadow After years of not trying it, I realize it makes a huge difference in all the above. This primer does all that without drying my eyelids, unlike UD's primer potion. I also prefer this packaging as it's more sanitary - it comes in a tube that reduces contamination issues (squeeze tube vs. dipping stick) and there's a lot of bang for your buck. While it's not cheap, you do not need to use a lot or reapply.

Bronzers -Bare Escentuals - Faux Tan all-over face color
rated 4 of 5

Great bronzer that does not oxidize. I use a flat top brush to apply and it blends super well. It comes off tan, not orangey and does not wear off. I really appreciate the new BM packaging with a rotating plastic cover for the holes so I can travel with it without worrying about all the powder being on top of the sifter. As a way to decrease bacterial buildup in the packaging, tap the powder onto a Kleenex and then use your brush to pick up the powder from the tissue.

BB Cream -Dr. Jart+ - Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++
rated 4 of 5
o_sonancy 5/17/2012 9:03:00 PM

First BB cream and my fave after also trying Dior (oxidizes and kind of dark) and Boscia (too orangey). It is a Korean brand and does not contain a lot of the chemicals other brands seem to use (Dior, Boscia, etc.) It doesn't bead on my skin like the packaging describes, but i love to apply it with my stipple brush. Best results when used over primer such as Bare Minerals Prime Time. This evens out redness and uneven tone without looking like foundation. It does not oxidize on my skin, but does nothing about my shininess so don't expect it to mattify. It's super lightweight, doesn't smell, no shimmer (yay!) and is a great value - ~$35 for 1 oz. A little goes a long way. Even if I happen to go over a section more than once, which I normally don't, it doesn't appear heavy or cakey. I use this by itself. Before I used Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, but this is more light and less chemical heavy.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
rated 5 of 5

Love this dry shampoo! First one I've tried and started using it one week ago. I have dark long hair that gets oily the day after washing, so i shampoo it every day. After reading many reviews, I picked this up at Walgreens for $3.50 and used it on day 2 instead of shampooing. Absolutely wonderful! sprayed on roots and back of head, shook my fingers through it and all the greasiness went away. This product provides excellent oil absorption, great volume and is super cheap. I've used it three times so far and I probably have another two uses left. Only down side is the smell is super strong and I have to walk away a couple times in between sprays for air. Totally worth it for not having to shampoo, towel dry then blow dry - saving me over 30 minutes getting ready for work and probably better for my hair.
