Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I HATE foundations. I can't stand wearing them, I feel like my face can't breathe....etc. etc. On the other hand, my make-up looks much better and stays on longer when I do wear a foundation! So it's a necessary evil, IMO ;-)! This is one of the few DS brands that I actually do use. It has a nice texture and goes on almost like a moouse moisturizer would. It is not as heavy as most and has some mineral properties, though you definately feel like you have foundation on. So since I NEED a foundation this one is very practical for me.

Powder -Clinique - Superbalanced powder makeup (spf 15) [DISCONTINUED]

For light to medium coverage this works average at best. On its own, I do not get a flawless-finish or anything but enough coverage to get by. If layered with other products the results are much better but since the review is just for Superbalnced alone I have to say "just OK." As far as minerals go this container rocks! It dispenses just the right amount that you control while keeping the unused portion completely sanitary....I love that feature. Overall, this is a keeper for me but definately not a stand-alone.

Moisturizers -Repechage - Algo Mist
rated 4 of 5

So far I've only used this when I travel and have been very pleased. Airplanes, Rvs and even long car rides can be very drying so a little spritz of this works wonders and feels refreshing. It does feel a bit sticky at first but I find it subsides in minutes. After reading other reviews I think I'm going to try using this after applying m/u to see if it sets anybetter than what I'm currently using, will update w/results. The only thing I do not like (and this is a big pet peeve for me) is the lettering on the bottle. I store most of my products in toiletry bags b/c of space restraints. The lettering on the bottle chips off eaisly and makes the product look much older (and cheaper) than it actually is.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel Exfoliant
rated 5 of 5
nykat 9/27/2010 11:26:00 AM

This product is awesome for my skin type! I don't get a lot of breakouts, blackheads or whiteheads like some other reviewers. I do however have Enormous Pores! They are huge and my skin looks awful when they are congested. Since using this BHA gel I have been able to keep them clean....making them appear smaller...improving the overall appearance of my face. My mu goes on smoother and the texture of my face has improved. I started using this 2x's a day and now just use it a couple times a week for maintenance. The only thing I do not like about this is the packaging. Because my bathroom is tiny, I keep most of my products in toiletry bags and the lettering on these bottles just doesn't hold up to that kind of abuse. It may be a small complaint but b/c I do spend $ on my products I want them to look nice as well...nobody wants to put something on their face if they can't even read the lable anymore!

Cleansers -Olay - Dual Action Cleanser + Pore Minimizing Scrub 2 in 1 Foaming Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
nykat 9/23/2010 5:47:00 PM

I love this product but I honestly don't use it that often on my face. I use it all the time on my shoulders, back of arms, underarms, and even my butt and bikini area. I break out alot...little tiny bumpies all over (not on my face, thankfully) and this stuff is awesome for those areas, and not too expensive so I will buy again. I did however just read another reviewer mention that this IS tested on animals. I will confirm that and discontinue use if that is true.

Styling Products -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Elnett Extra StrongHold UV Hair Spray - 11 oz.

another pretty good hairspray. I think this is really meant for updos and not for everyday use. after i style my hair I give it the once over with this and it lasts for a couple hours. as soon as I get home I brush it out and you can't even tell I had hairspray in...I like that. that's what I'm looking for in a hairspray.

Lips -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain
rated 1 of 5
nykat 9/23/2010 5:15:00 PM

One big mess. this product is not for me. i found the applicator to dispense too much product, which i had to blot off most of. the result was too much emphasis on the lines around my lips. and like everyone else, the color did not last long at all.

Eye Shadow -Almay - Intense i-color powder shadow-Trio for Greens
rated 3 of 5
nykat 9/23/2010 3:29:00 PM

I actually like this combo for my green eyes which is surprising b/c normally colors recommended for green eyes don't look that good on me. (I have a lot of redness in my face and most purples make me look like I've been crying) I think it is because these colors have brown undertones?!? I could do w/o that much shimmer but I am just excited to have found a few colors that work for me;-)!

Styling Products -Aveda - Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener
rated 4 of 5
nykat 9/23/2010 2:59:00 PM

Big Fan. A tiny drop is just enough for my shoulder lenght hair so the bottle will probably last forever. I really DO notice a difference. First, my hair just feels silky, not at all oily and almost no frizzys and fly-a-ways which have always been a problem for me. A little expensive but since you use so little, I can easily justify the expense. I didn't give 5 lippies b/c I like to wash my hair every two days and I cannot use this on my 2nd day...then it would be oily.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Collagen Micro-Pulse
rated 1 of 5
nykat 8/1/2010 9:16:00 PM

My first (and probably last) experience with this was a bad one=(. It actually seems like a great idea and I really thought I would like it....wrong. Step 1, the anti wrinkle & dark circle cream is so thick that the amount I took out for one eye was more than enough for both eyes...so far so good. I like a nice rich cream. Step 2, the anti puffiness micro-pulse massager. when i turned it on it seemed like it would give a nice gentle massage but when applied to the delicate under eye area it packs quite a punch...too much of a punch in fact I looked like I had been punched in the eye a couple of times! I don't remember reading that in the directions but i figured once my face calmed down I would notice the difference. Not so much. I will let you know if I go back for round two;-)!!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
rated 4 of 5
nykat 8/1/2010 8:53:00 PM

Wow...so much confusion over a wipe?!? LOL! I had been using these for a while now (3 or 4 months) as a make-up remover only. i.e. I would still wash my face with a cleanser afterward and they work perfect for re-moving all my makeup with one cloth (yea...4 lippies)! But as I was reading some of the other reviews with people breaking out and leaving an oily residue I realized that some reviewers were using it as a cleanser also (lightbulb above head goes off)! So I just read Neutrogena's website and sure enough it does state...no need to rinse. Yuck, I can feel my face breaking out already! I will continue to use this product as I have been...as a makeup remover only...and not as a cleanser...right or wrong, it works for me;-)!!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Concentrated Lash Boosting Serum
rated 2 of 5
nykat 8/1/2010 8:28:00 PM

First let my say, I received this (along with the double extend mascara) in a gift bag from a make-up show I attended. I wouldn't have purchased it b/c my lashes are pretty decent to start with. But who wouldn't want more eyelashes:-p so I did the 4 week challenge. I applied the serum 2x a day and also used the accompaning mascara. I honestly did not noticed any "significant" change=(.... but if you read the fine print it says "lashes appear multiplied with daily application of mascara and twice daily application of serum" ...Well of course my lashes appear fuller with mascara!....whose doesn't? As far as seeing more lashes, I didn't actually count them but they look the same as always w/o mascara on;-)!!

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
nykat 5/8/2010 10:49:00 PM

I almost didn't bother reviewing this product b/c it has over 3600 reviews already but after reading a couple of them I just had to add my two cents;-P!! I agree with many of the reviews who said this product works great as a make-up remover but it's supposed to be a CLEANSER! When I first started using this cleanser, my face was a mess...it was very oily but also very flakey and sensitive...I was at a complete loss. I used this for a while and saw a small improvement. Once I figured out that there was a difference between being "dry" and being "dehydrated" I got some appropriate products and a huge improvement. Recently I ran out of my current cleanser and pulled this out of my stash. What I found out is that there are no real active ingredients in this stuff so it can't hurt you but at the same time it's not doing all that much. If you have naturally good skin and just need a basic face wash then this is great. But if you, like me, have issues that you want addressed (like acne or oil) then you will probably want to look for something a bit more aggressive, IMHO.

Shampoo -Goldwell - DualSenses Rich Repair
rated 4 of 5
nykat 5/8/2010 8:23:00 PM

Ever since I started a single color process (a little over a year now) I've been using this shampoo and conditioner on the advice of my hairdresser. It works great. I am very happy with my color and I really feel like there is very little fading. If it weren't for my roots I could probably go three months b/f touching up. The shampoo doesn't have much of a smell, lathers very good, rinses well and leaves my hair squeaky clean. No complaints here!!

Mascara -Ulta - Professional Lash Primer
rated 2 of 5
nykat 5/8/2010 8:11:00 PM

I don't mind adding an extra step to my morning routine if I am getting better results but as far as I can tell (it's been @ 10 days) there is no payoff here. It's just an extra step. I normally don't use a lash primer but I've been wanting to kick it up a notch with my mascara and thought I'd give this a try. I've even played around with the steps, i.e. curl then prime then mascara vs. prime, curl, mascara etc. And bottom line is NO DIFFERENCE. Save yourself some money and pass on this one.
