I struggle constantly to find the right foundation -- I'm two different shades on my face, I prefer really natural coverage, want application to be easy, and hate powdery chalky finishes. I usually use MAC, but the quest for foundation as taken me everywhere. This works for me. Really works. I use V8 (typically MAC NC44) and for the lighter shade on my face (most of it in the winter), this is absolutely perfect. As the reviewer below notes, the finish is not a typical powder. It settles into an almost creamy finish. I contour the outer edges of my face with Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Deep Dark, and spray with MAC Fix + at the end. The look is exactly what I want -- my skin, but better. The Face Base lasted for a very long time, but due to a tragic leap for freedom off my bathroom counter, it must be replaced. And it will be because I've found nothing else like it.
Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)

Finally! found my own holy grail. This make-up remover is gentle, doesn't sting, doesn't make my eyes water, is non-greasy (so doesn't leave a weird blurry film in my eyes), and is efficient and completely removes every trace of makeup. I do seem to use an extraordinary amount of product to complete the removal process, but that's my only complaint. I suppose to the company's benefit, because I end up replenishing my supply a fair bit. It's just so great to have found this -- I've literally been searching for years for something that worked for me.
Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Green Beaver 30 Sunscreen

I *love* this stuff. With darker skin, physical sunscreens (which I need because of sensitivity to chemical sunscreen) always leave a whitish ashy finish. This does not. AT ALL! I cannot tell you how happy I am with the product. I've used it for two summers now and I keep re-buying. It's definitely a bit greasy but I also have acne-prone skin and this does not break me out. Truth be told, I kinda like the sheen on my skin, it looks summery. Anyway, it's non-nano, which is important in the physical blocker. It's transparent. It's sufficiently broad spectrum (both excellent UVA blocking and good UVB). It's expensive. A 90mL tube is $20, so used over your body it won't last long, but it's so fabulous, it's definitely worth it to me. FYI the Kids version and the regular version have the exact same ingredients, so it doesn't matter which you buy.
Stinging, drying, and just generally horrible waste of money. I was surprised, as I'm generally a fan of MAC products. This really was a disaster. I can't believe how irritating it is to my eyes.
I mix this light gel with Graham Webb's Making Waves curl definer, and it gives me a great defined curl. I like the consistency of it, and while it doesn't do enough definition on its own, mixed with Making Waves (which can sometimes be a little hard/crunchy on its own), it's perfect.
Lip Treatments -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner Stick Mon Cherry
nunu 6/16/2005 12:02:00 AM
Mon Cherry is my holy grail lipbalm. And of course, it's discontinued. ARRRRRGH!!! I have extremely sun-sensitive lips, I burn at the slightest hint of UV rays, and while the TLC sticks aren't perfect, they are the closest I've ever come to perfection in a sunscreen lipbalm. Mon Cherry is the perfect MLBB for my NC44 skin. It's basically sheer with a little bit of a brown-rose colour payoff. It's glossy, moisturizing and sweet-looking. And it has, *most importantly* broad spectrum SPF 15 sun protection. And it works! Most UVA-UVB blocking lipbalms taste horrific or leave a white cast to your lips (except for Blistex Clear Advantage, my previous contender for HG-status). This one tastes fine. The only thing detracting from its perfection is the smell. A previous reviewer described it as vanilla mixed with cardboard, and I would have to agree! :) Anyway, small price to pay for such a great product.
Adorable pearlized medium-pink shade. It looks really cute and summery, very fun!
Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
nunu 8/10/2004 12:44:00 PM
This is my staple body lotion. While it's not entirely fragrance free, it's inoffensive to me, and it is a great moisturizer. It lasts for a while, it doesn't feel greasy and it is my HG. I agree with one of the previous reviewer that the pump design is wasteful of the last 1/4 of the bottle. While this isn't the most expensive moisturizer in the world, it is still pricey enough that I'd like to get my money's worth. I've gone through enough bottles of this stuff! That gripe aside, I will continue to repurchase forever :)
Agree with the reviewer below -- a bright canary yellow, in line with MAC Chrome Yellow, although with a pearlized consistency. Very pretty and summery fun on my toes. I'm an NC44.
Foundations -MAC - Studio Stick SPF 15 ] [DISCONTINUED]
nunu 5/9/2004 9:12:00 PM
Finally have a stick foundation that works for me and in the perfect shade! I have been mixing colours for years and now have NC44 which is the *PERFECT* colour for my skin. The Studio Stick foundation seems to really work on my skin. I apply a little bit with my fingers mainly on my cheeks where the skintone needs to be evened out a bit, and to cover scars. It really blends into my skin and makes me almost luminous. My skin is slightly oily - normal and the drier texture of the stick works wonders.
I only use this for getting to the inner and outer tiny lashes and for the bottom lashes. For that purpose I think this mascara (or maybe just the brush) is spectacular. I think it really works to define and lengthen those specific lashes.
Although this has been reviewed to death and there are lots of great colour descriptions, I thought I'd add my two cents as well ;) I'm an NC44 CCC and *LOVE* this colour - it's become a new fave (I use it with Hodgepodge and Spice liner) and it's a gorgeous multidimensional MLBB colour. Very natural and sweet. So glad all the proceeds go to charity
Lip Treatments -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner - Petting Pink
nunu 3/12/2004 1:54:00 PM
Petting Pink is my fave of the tinted LCs. It's a warm pink -- but goes on quite sheerly. Even on my NC44 skin, it works as a MLBB colour. It's great as a lipbalm with a hint o' colour and I love the SPF. I still use the original lip conditioner as a night treatment as I find it doesn't leave any residue.
I was prompted to try this while swapping, and I am sooooo thrilled! :) It leaves my curls defined yet soft and my hair gleams. None of that dreaded crunch, which I sometimes got with my previous styling product, Joico Ice whip mousse. Strong apple-like fragrance, but tolerable.
Lotions/ Creams -Herbacin - Kamille + Silicone Glycerin hand cream
nunu 1/2/2004 12:51:00 PM
Really fabulous stuff! I love the portable tin for my purse -- this really combats winter dryness, my hands look soft and silky-smooth. My only complaint is that my palms feel a little greasy, but it's worth it for the moisturizing properties on the other side of my hands :)
