Self Tanners -Fake Bake - flawless self tan liquid
rated 4 of 5

I am a self-tan addict and I have to say...this is the best thing I've tried yet (out of all spray, gel, lotions - gives the best tan). Which is not to say it's perfect, but it's virtually idiot proof, and it takes a lot for me to say that. I was kinda skeptical of the spray and then rub instructions, but it surprisingly gives a very natural yet brown tan. NO STREAKING which is the best thing. I like to go over my whole body with the mitt like 3x just to make sure everything is rubbed in though. Cons: pricey ($25), I've had it for about a month and I'm halfway done (fake bake 2x a week, self tan lotion to maintain in between). Also I don't know if I just got a faulty bottle but the damn thing leaked and I always have to hold it upright. Also most of the color guide comes off in the shower, so I do like to touch up. Overall, best self tanner I've found yet, but I'm still looking.

Lip Liners -Rimmel - Exaggerate-063 Eastend Snob
rated 5 of 5

Perfect pinky lip liner. I find that on my NC 35 skin tone it comes off a little more mauve than I like, but layered with a nude lipstick/gloss over the liner, it's beautiful! Lots of compliments when I fill in my lips with this then add Revlon's soft nude - I think it really brings out the golden undertones in Asian skin! A little pricey for a drugstore liner, and I do not like the slanted tip, but will buy again.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Medium/Deep

I really wanted to like this....first off, I have dry patchy skin and will always go for dewy finishes in both foundation and tinted moisturizer. I LOVED the consistency of this product. So nice and emollient, really gave me a glowy finish that looked natural and radiant. The color range is really tricky though, I don't know if I picked the wrong color. I'm an nc35 in mac foundations so i erred on the darker side of the TWO color choices lmfao, you can tell im not happy about that, since i know bb creams ive tried tended to be a lil ashy. It's just way. too. pink toned. In love with the finish of the product, I just always have to mix it with a more yellow foundation (in my case I like to use Mac pro long wear) to get a better color match. VERY LITTLE COVERAGE, but if you're like me, on a day to day basis I'm not looking for full coverage either. Overall, I'd highly recommend this as a supplement to a foundation, not as a tinted moisturizer....It gives such a nice, luminous finish, that I've taken to using it kind of like strobe cream, or an illuminating primer. Would not buy again for the purpose of a tinted moisturizer.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20
rated 5 of 5

Okay...I am super picky about foundation, and I love this stuff. Of course, it won't work for everyone's skin types - but I have dry skin, with large pores and recurring acne/redness as well as acne scarring, and I LOVE this stuff. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone with even combination skin, because it is so truly dewy in finish, but if you are looking for something that is buildable in coverage and truly evens out skin tone, I recommend this. The most important factor for me in foundation is the naturalness of how it goes on - there's nothing I hate more than looking cakey and like I have on a mask. I dot on the healthy skin foundation and then buff it all in with a real techniques stippling brush, and I seriously glow - I wanted to contain my excitement about this for at least a week to try it out, but today I just got two separate compliments about how nice I look today, and how my skin looked "flawless" and I just had to write this review. Only complaint would be staying power (maybe 8 hours max) and packaging - a pump would be so nice. Other than that, I picked it up at ulta for around eleven dollars, which is like a fourth of the price of Nars Sheer Glow. It covers my acne and redness, even diminishes the appearance of my pores, all while still looking natural. That's all I ask for.

Tinted Moisturizer -Aveeno - positively radiant
rated 3 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 1:07:00 AM

For a drugstore tinted moisturizer I found it a little pricey ($15) but competent for daily use. Very little coverage, I got it in the medium shade and had to use two full pumps for just a sheer layer all over the face. It's nice I guess to even out skin tone a little bit, but you're going to have to spot conceal dark circles/blemishes with other products. If you're like me and don't like to wear foundation or concealer every day it's great - slather it on (plus I love the fact that it has spf 30 in it already, another step consolidated), dust some powder on your t-zone and you're good to go. The effect, I would say, is like your skin, just a bit better - doesn't cover up anything, just gives you a nice, natural glow. The slight shimmer is a little overwhelming, I was not aware of it when I bought it, but it's not distracting enough for me to regret buying this. Plus you get a pump top AND 2.5 oz which is a lot compared to the other tinted moisturizers I was considering at the time, around 1.5 oz. Happy with this product.

Looks really nice on the toes especially during summertime. A good, solid coral, makes your feet look tan and clean.

Good color, streaky application like other reviewers said - however, I'm still on the lookout for the perfect pale pink!

Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
rated 4 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 12:54:00 AM

For $3, you can't beat this bronzer. It turns out a little orange on my skin, and the packaging is so delicate that I've shattered a good three pans and have had to salvage the little crumbs left, but if you're in a pinch and have like formal or prom tomorrow night, or just need some cheap bronzer, this does the job well.

Brows -Revlon - Brow Fantasy in Brunette
rated 4 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 12:49:00 AM

My go-to brow pencil, though I really swear we need to start a petition asking Revlon to sell it as a crayon only, I'm not surprised to see I'm not the only one who hates the gel end. I'm not too crazy about paying $10 for essentially half a brow pencil, but it's the best formula I've found so far - not too chalky, not overly waxy, and the perfect color to match dark hair. The gel stinks in a nutshell, not natural looking at all and makes my brows stiff and glossy. Maybe if it was clear I'd like it better, but the pencil overall rocks.

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Tomas Tan Perfect Self-Tanning Lotion
rated 2 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 12:44:00 AM

I really, really wanted to like this product after reading the reviews on Sally's website. I've always used gradual self tanning lotions and thought this formula was pretty neat, with instant tint so you can see what you're doing. Maybe I'm just lazy, but the process just was not worth the lackluster results. It came with these gloves that you use to rub in a very dark brown, liquidy lotion (it smelled terrible, and normally I'm not very sensitive to self tanner smells). Make sure to shave and exfoliate REALLY well prior to applying because it patches and gathers in rough spots easily. Also wear an old robe or something because, like another reviewer pointed out, it takes FOREVER to dry and will probably stain clothing - don't put this on like, right before a night out lol. After applying two coats I looked kind of jaundiced, not brown. Very disappointed, I paid $15 for this product when I've paid $7 for better results. I guess it just did not work well with my skin tone.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 5 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 12:35:00 AM

I always stick with covergirl Lashblast every time I run out of mascara and have to buy a new one, because all the times I try and venture out to try something new (great lash, growluscious) I'm terribly disappointed. HOWEVER I believe I have found my holy grail mascara in this little pink tube! I have very sparse Asian lashes so I'm really not expecting any miracles to happen - I just want some definition after I curl them, nothing crazy. This really does the job, cleanly separating the lashes and lengthening a good amount. Plus you can layer quite well without getting spidery too quickly. Holds curl all day (huge factor for me, as my lashes naturally of course point straight down), minimal smudging. Overall I'm very happy I didn't waste $9 on a subpar mascara.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 2 of 5
numsy 8/19/2011 12:29:00 AM

For girls like me with wimpy, stick straight Asian lashes - stay away from this mascara. I've heard some of my more lash-blessed friends rave about it, plus I had a five dollar off coupon for Revlon mascaras (the miser in me always wins) but I'm tossing this one in the trash, the fact that I'm not forcing myself to finish the tube says a lot. The brush is huge, making it difficult to get all my little baby hairs - one coat and I have spider lashes; the fact that it wasn't buildable was a huge minus point. I found the waterproof formula to be both clumpy and smudgy after a few hours, and will not be repurchasing.

Self Tanners -Neutrogena - Sun Fresh
rated 4 of 5
numsy 4/16/2011 3:09:00 AM

I actually love this stuff, I was lucky enough to score a 4 oz bottle for $2 in a CVS clearance bin when I desperately needed to tan up my legs and arms for prom. And I love being DARK lol I really don't care for subtle or very natural tanners, if i'm going to spend money on one it had better turn me brown. just an fyi i am asian with yellow undertones; in the summer I get more olive but right now i'm quite pale...a very light olive in the winter. PROS: Fast results - I noticed a nice glow in two days, within a week my legs were brown and I actually got lots of compliments noting how tan I looked....if only they knew my little secret muahahaha. Not orange, natural tan. Could dial up or slow down.Since prom was in a week I basically slathered it on like a madwoman at least twice a day - I applied a good sized dollop once right after I showered and once right before I went to bed. If you want a more natural look I suggest maybe using it every other day. CONS: Smell - I really did not smell the claimed "nectarine scent"; to me it just reeked of DHA. But I mean it's inevitable. To combat the smell I used Moist brand's Hemp Bronzing Moisturizer (this is a VERY VERY subtle self tanner, more like a tan enhancer/prolonger people use after tanning beds) as a second coat after I let the first layer of Sun Fresh dry; if you've ever used the hemp stuff you know it smells like heaven and coconuts.....in general you can mask it pretty well with another lotion and these two together worked like a charm. Staining - I am horribly lax about washing my hands after using self tanners and this one is a must! Also I noticed some orange splotches on my pajamas so make sure to thoroughly dry off or wear old clothes to bed. Price/Quantity: I'm almost done with the 4 oz after prepping for two proms (so basically 2 crammed weeks of tanning). Definitely wish it was bigger. Staying power - my tan gradually evaporated over the course of 3-4 days of no application : ( Overall, this product redeemed my hope in self tanners, is a good buy if you're in a time crunch, and gets you summertime bronze! I love it.

Polishes -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Pro Enamel all shades, new square bottle
rated 3 of 5
numsy 3/26/2011 4:38:00 AM

During a quick Target run, I picked up French Lingerie on a whim. I've been lusting after a good light, baby pink polish similar to Essie's Fiji, and it looked similar in the bottle, but French Lingerie is almost completely white...not what I was looking for. Since it's winter my hands are also a lot paler and it does not look good, maybe the color would be more flattering with a tan....also a little streaky and required a good three coats to get it opaque. Cute packaging, not worth it though (at least in this color!)
