Makeup Brushes -Sigma - F80 flat top synthetic kabuki
nukacola 2/21/2013 4:02:00 PM
In a word, fantastic. Super dense, so applies foundation both quickly and evenly, but surprisingly dries fast too (a couple of hours on my towel-covered radiator). I achieve a flawless finish every time with this wonderful brush. It's possibly the softest thing I've ever touched in my life too - it's a pleasure to use. I find it needs cleaning fairly often as it is so dense, but it cleans up so nicely and is left looking new and feeling ultra soft every time. Foundation doesn't stain the bristles at all somehow! Would buy again and again if mine ever broke. Wholeheartedly recommended to anyone who uses foundation.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
nukacola 2/21/2013 10:24:00 AM
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who dislikes this as it's always raved about! First off, it's kind of expensive for a drugstore foundation (about £12.50 here in the UK). I wouldn't mind the price tag if it was good, but ugh.. no. It smells pretty awful, like chemicals. Definitely not a great choice if you're sensitive to scents. It disappears after a while, but it's very unpleasant when applying it. The packaging is annoying because it doesn't have a pump, so you have to pour it out and if you're anything like me, you'll always pour out too much and it's a pain to try and get it back into the bottle. I also find it collects and cakes around the neck of the bottle which is kinda gross... And, worst of all, I find it to be a generally bad foundation. I find it extremely cakey and it settles into lines, especially around the mouth and nose. Really disappointing because Ivory is one of the only DS foundations light enough for me without being orange...

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Moisture Cream
nukacola 2/20/2013 9:05:00 AM
The Body Shot Vitamin E Moisture Cream is a pink coloured, light cream with an almost gel consistency with a subtle scent that I don't find overpowering at all. It comes in a 50ml pot. Unfortunately I think The Body Shop have discontinued it because I can't find it on their website anymore, but I believe it cost about £10. I'm surprised at the reviews for this. I actually really like it. I have combination-oily skin and I use this on my cheeks and forehead where I get dry, and an oil-controlling mattifying lotion on my nose and chin where I get oily. I find this works fantastically on my dry patches and moisturises instantly. It gives a lovely, radiant, lit from within glow to my skin and doesn't make it look greasy or oily. It sinks in quickly and makes my skin feel super soft. I will be trying the Vitamin E Moisture Lotion with SPF15 when I run out of this, and I'm hoping it will be just as great.

Eyes -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder
nukacola 2/4/2013 6:29:00 PM
Ick! This would be a nice product if it weren't for the horrendous chunky glitter! I guess this is ELF's attempt at 'light diffusing'. I was expecting a subtle sheen, but the glitter is super chunky and very obvious. I really can't use this on my undereye area as it just looks silly. It's pretty much the same as ELF's standard HD powder so just use that instead - does the same job and no horrid glitter.

Polishes -OPI - Russian Navy
nukacola 4/9/2012 8:57:00 AM
Russian Navy is a gorgeous, very dark cool blue with subtle red and blue shimmer. The formula is nice, slightly streaky but definitely evens out completely after the second coat. At first I was a bit disappointed as it just looked like another navy polish, but the magic happens when the light hits it and you can see all the shimmers. It looks really beautiful! I'm keeping it as it is actually pretty unique because of that. My only issue is the fact it's very difficult to remove... I usually use one cotton pad but with this I have to use a minimum of two and end up with blue polish all over me. :/

Polishes -E.L.F. - Nail Polish
nukacola 4/8/2012 11:58:00 AM
I think these are pretty good for the money (£1.50 here in the UK) to be fair. They aren't the best, but what are you expecting for the price?! Great range of colours, but the formula is a bit thin and streaky - it does take 3 or 4 coats for an opaque finish.

Lip Treatments -Vaseline - Lip Therapy
nukacola 4/3/2012 8:18:00 PM
I'm prone to having extremely dry, chapped lips. I've tried so many lip treatments, both cheap and expensive, and good old Vaseline is the only thing that seriously helps. Obviously it's a bit greasy feeling but I can overlook that as it works so well. Instantly soothes and moisturises my dry lips and keeps them soft unlike other lip treatments that work for a short while, but make your lips go back to being chapped and dry within a few hours. Vaseline is cheap, easy to get hold of and most importantly, super effective. Will of course repurchase again and again :)

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
nukacola 4/3/2012 7:35:00 PM
I purchased this due to the rave reviews as I'm on a constant hunt for the perfect mascara. I'm in the minority here, but I really don't like this. I don't know if I just got a bad tube or something, but the formula is way too dry so it flakes and clumps like crazy. Didn't really add any length and the only 'volume' it added were huge, unattractive clumps. Will not be repurchasing.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Coygirl
nukacola 4/3/2012 12:28:00 PM
Meh. I was looking for a mauvey pink blush for ages and had been lemming this blush for ages when I finally caved in and brought it. It looks very pretty when swatched, just what I wanted! Problem is, it doesn't look like that when actually applied to my cheeks. It just looks like an average dupable pink to me, nothing special. It also goes on kind of patchy and I didn't find it very pigmented. Wouldn't repurchase as I have loads of blushes that look the same on my cheeks. Up for swap if anyone is interested.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - Cherry Tube
nukacola 2/19/2012 3:04:00 PM
This caught my eye as I like cherry scented products and I had heard good things about Carmex. Whilst this is fairly moisturising, I cannot bare to use it because the taste makes me feel physically sick. Whenever it gets in my mouth (even a tiny bit which is sort of inevitable) I feel like I have to rinse my mouth out with mouthwash to get the disgusting taste to go away! Such a shame as it's quite a good lip balm except being quite greasy feeling, it smells lovely and the packaging is much more hygienic than a pot or stick. 2 lippies for the nice packaging, scent and SPF 15.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - MAC Red
nukacola 2/14/2012 3:10:00 PM
I just B2M'd for this and I'm in love with it. Perfect blue-based red. Lovely texture, doesn't feel at all drying on my lips, and is fairly long lasting. I'd recommend everyone to use MAC's Cherry lipliner with it, it matches perfectly.

Primer/ Corrector -Too Faced - Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer
nukacola 2/1/2012 4:59:00 AM
I got a mini version of this in the Look Of Love set. I've always been intrigued by primers, but the one I tried before this one didn't seem to do anything and just felt like grease on my skin. This one, however, is a totally different story. It feels like velvet on your skin! I also like the fact it has a slight tint to it which helps to even out my skintone before I even put any foundation on. On good skin days, I could easily wear this alone. This is one of the only products I've used that lives up to its name - it drastically reduces the large pores on my cheeks and made the sebaceous filaments on my nose much less noticeable. It also mattifys the skin which is important to me as I have an oily t-zone. It definitely makes my makeup go on smoother - this and ELDW make my skin look flawless! I will definitely be purchasing the full size version of this product. Definitely HG material for me.

Blush -NARS - Desire
nukacola 1/24/2012 12:59:00 PM
In the pan, this blush is positively terrifying! I got this in a swap and wasn't anticipating it to be so neon. Thankfully, when applied properly, this gives a lovely, surprisingly natural looking flush to my cheeks. As with all NARS blushes, it is extremely pigmented so you must use a light hand to ensure you don't look like a clown. I personally tap a duo fibre brush into the pan and stipple it on very lightly and this provides a perfect application. I'd happily buy this again, but I doubt I'll ever run out as you only need a very tiny amount each time!

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin
nukacola 1/21/2012 8:26:00 AM
First of all, this is not designed to remove makeup! Yes, you are going to be disappointed with this product if this is what you're expecting it to do. This cleanser is amazing. I have always preferred natural skincare and this fits the bill perfectly. It doesn't contain preservatives like normal skincare which can upset your skin, so this was a massive plus for me. It's a solid cleanser which was a bit of a change for me... you have to get a small amount in your hand and mix it with warm water to make a paste. You can have it chunkier and grainier consistency (I prefer this personally) or a thin, milky one. Can get a bit messier than traditional cleansers but this doesn't bother me. This left my skin sooo soft and clean. It also absorbed all the oil on my face which was great as my skin is often oily and greasy feeling. I'd definitely recommend it for oily skin, but I don't know if it would be too abrasive for dry/sensitive skin.

Blush -NARS - Super Orgasm
nukacola 1/7/2012 4:51:00 PM
Absolute holy grail product for me. I use this daily. I received this as a gift and, honestly, I could have cried when I first looked at it! The glitter looks extremely obnoxious and obvious in the pan, so I was very reluctant to try it as I'm not a fan of glitter, but after much hesitation, I finally did and WOW! It's such a beautiful blush. The glitter sort of disappeared and gave me a lit from within glow on my fair, cool toned complexion. Applies like a dream, blends very well. Will repurchase again and again - well worth the money.
