Polishes -Essie - Tart Deco
rated 2 of 5
nubletta 4/9/2012 12:55:00 AM

This polish is a good reminder of why I dislike Essie's nail polish formula. But as usual, the beautiful colors and easy availability reel me into buying another color. I also had a coupon for $2 off, so I ended up paying $5.79 instead of the common $8 price tag. Tart Deco is a peachy orange color. It's a lot brighter on the nails than it is in the bottle. The formula is pretty horrifying. It's thick and streaky, similar to Mint Candy Apple's formula. It took 3 coats to get an even color on my nails. It's appropriate for spring as it is a bit pastel. Such a shame that the formula sucks as it is a pretty color. But it's more work than what it's worth.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Panther
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 3/19/2012 3:28:00 AM

Panther is one of the new single eye shadows released by Wet n Wild in 2012. In fact, one of the best ones released as the others are duds in my opinion. Panther is a silky, matte black which provides a vast amount of color in one swipe. Its not chalky compared to the rest of the new singles, and is EXTREMELY pigmented. Very little is needed of this eye shadow to pack a punch. The price point is really good at $2.50 a pop. If you need a matte black, get your hands on this one.

Highlighters -Christian Dior - Shimmer Powder 002 Amber Diamond, Spring 08
rated 3 of 5
nubletta 2/18/2012 4:40:00 AM

I absolutely adore this product. It gives my skin a healthy glow without making me look oily. The color suits me perfectly as it is flattering on my warm skin (NC25). It is finely milled and looks natural on the skin. The only reason I wouldn't give this 5 lippies is because of 1. the price (granted, it will last me forever) and 2. it doesn't last all day on me.

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
rated 4 of 5
nubletta 1/31/2012 12:21:00 AM

This lip balm is heavenly. Its thick and moisturizing. I use it a lot and it keeps my lips nice and moist! I use the Lavender & Vanilla shade and love it. Its a relaxing scent. I've had my tube for 3 months and still have half of the tube left. I also bought a tube for my boyfriend since he works outside and deals with wind burn, sun burns & chapped lips and he loves it, too. I think he was relieved this wasn't in a girly tube LOL! The SPF 25 is a big bonus, especially for him! I will continue to buy this balm as long as possible.

Eyeliner -Essence - Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 1/31/2012 12:17:00 AM

This is such an amazing product for oily lids. I own one in London Baby which is a creamy, dark purple. Most purple gel liners are known to lack pigmentation and be streaky, but this one is nothing like it! The gel liner is very very soft. When I first used it, I put my brush in too far and got a bunch of product (whoops). Very little of it goes a long way. Its long lasting, too. I can't wait to try other shades of this. Ulta has been sold out of them whenever I have gone to get more! $3.50 @ Ulta

Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - Hand Food
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 1/23/2012 10:25:00 AM

This is my favorite hand cream ever. It sinks in & absorbs really fast without feeling greasy. I keep a large tube with me wherever I go & have the softest hands because of it! The price point is really good, too as a little goes a long way.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 1/11/2012 7:43:00 PM

I love aloe vera gel! I bought the 100% FOTE from BB&B for close to $5 for a fairly large tube. They have one that doesn't say 100%, make sure you get the one that does. The packaging is hygienic. I had originally bought it to make RayvnNA's primer recipe, but haven't gotten around to make it yet which made me want to experiment with aloe vera gel meanwhile. I decided to use it on my face as a moisturizer and I liked how it felt. I have oily skin and it actually felt mattifying on my skin. So I decided to mix it in with some lotion since aloe vera gel does create a barrier on the skin to lock in moisture and it works well that way too. I've been using it for the past few weeks and my mom complemented my face because it looked clearer. I didn't realize until last night that aloe had made my acne scars fade! I thought it was all in my head until I read through the reviews and saw others had the same effect, too. I still have about two scars left, which are really minimized compared to how they were before. This is now HG. I also used a glob of it on my upper lip because it was irritated from hair removal and it healed it the next day. Go aloe!

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Black
rated 2 of 5
nubletta 1/11/2012 7:30:00 PM

I was pretty disappointed in this product. I ordered it from Amazon & managed to return it there without any problem, thankfully. Why was this disappointing? The product was very dry from the first time I used it. I'm unsure if it is an old one, but it was brand new to me. I had to swirl my brush around like crazy to get some product onto the brush which tugged on my lid while I applied it. It was virtually impossible to apply it smoothly like I would with ELF or WnW's cream liners. I do give it two lippies for the fact that it lasted on my oily lids, but that's all that stood out for me. The $20 price tag does not reflect quality in this product. I'll stick to my WnW cream liner.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 4 of 5
nubletta 1/7/2012 3:52:00 AM

If it weren't for Sephora offering this as a deluxe sample during F&F, I wouldn't have thought of picking this up. I'm so glad they did! It does a great job of removing make up (especially eye shadow). It doesn't dry my skin out at all; if anything, it feels moisturizing. I have oily skin and it actually works out really well for me. The smell of it is also very pleasant. When I run out of this, I'm definitely re-buying it. It's great!

Blush -Maybelline - Bouncy Blush - Hot Tamale
rated 4 of 5
nubletta 1/2/2012 3:15:00 AM

Hot Tamale is the most "intimidating" color of the bouncy blush series. It's a red-fuchsia-orange color with slight shimmer. When applied to the cheeks, it gives a very natural I've-been-in-the-snow kind of blush. This is great for days where you need an instant pick-me-up color on your cheeks. The texture of this is very interesting. When you rub your fingers on it (gently, please!) it's a bit sponge-like. It's different from traditional cream blushes (such as blush cremes). When you apply it to your cheeks, the formula of it feels similar to the NYC cream stick blushes. It's very easy to blend it seamlessly. It's also buildable if you want a bolder flush. It does not feel sticky after applying. It feels as if you had just applied a powder blush, which I guess I'd call this a cream to powder finish; though technically I wouldn't qualify it as a cream. It's definitely a hybrid. I'd also like to add that it applies better with fingers than with a brush (I used a skunk brush). I definitely recommend this color & this blush series from Maybelline. I haven't purchased anything from them in a very long time and I'm pleasantly surprised at the high quality products they have been releasing lately! For those who wonder about the ingredients in the Bouncy Blushes, here is the list (in English & French): Talc, Dimethicone, Hydrogenated c6-14 olefin polymers, diisostearyl malate, silica, paraffinium liquidium / mineral oil / huile minerale, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, hexyl laurate, butylene/ethylene/styrene copolymer, ethylene/propylene/styre copolymer, synthtic fluorphlogopite, phenoxyethanol, triethoxycaprylylsilane, alumina, tin oxide [+/- may contain/peut contenir: mica, ci 77891 / titanium dioxide, ci 77007 / ultramarines, ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499 / iron oxides, ci 15850 / red 7, ci 19140 / yellow 5 lake, ci 15850 / red 6, ci 45410 / red 28 lake, ci 77120 / barium sulfate, ci 73360 / red 30, ci 15850 / red 7 lake, ci 15985 / yellow 6 lake] F.I.L d48237/4

Pressed Powders -E.L.F. - Studio Translucent Mattifying Powder
rated 2 of 5
nubletta 8/7/2011 2:04:00 AM

This would've been an ideal powder for me. Especially considering the fact that it costs $3, which not many pressed powders do. However, the undertone is completely off for me. This applies as a pink undertone. I'm yellow under toned (NC25) so it looks completely off on me, even though it is translucent. This powder has potential. Just not for me.

Shampoo -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 7/14/2011 4:56:00 AM

Not only do I use this to clean my brushes, but to clean my face, too. This has helped me clear up my acne tremendously. I struggle with painful, cystic acne and this started drying the acne out the next morning. It doesn't dry my face out (granted, I have oily skin) and is very gentle. Once I forgot to wear moisturizer on my face on a hot summer day (90+) and my face was less greasy than it is with moisturizer. So it helped control my oiliest, too. I tried this to remove eye make up, but I didn't feel it being too efficient for eyeliner removal. Side note: I use the Up & Up (Target generic) brand and it smells great and works great. Its less than $3 for quite a large bottle, too. Please try this multi-purpose product out!

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 6/25/2011 11:57:00 PM

I absolutely love this blush. It looks extremely natural on me and lasts on my very oily skin. It flatters my warm undertone quite nicely (I'm about NC25-NC30). I love the fact that it brings a mirror and the fact that the compact is the same color as the blush inside. It makes it a lot easier to identify which blush is which without looking at the name. I will be purchasing more of these blushes in the future.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Drugstore Rose water
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 6/23/2011 9:23:00 PM

Oh rosewater, how I love thee. This product is amazing for my oily, acne prone skin. I use this as a toner (much like other MUAers) and it has definitely done wonders to my skin. I recently decided to switch my routine to a more natural one. Mainly for the sake of 1. saving money and 2. curiosity. It all started with Josie Maran on QVC and then looked into argan oil and found out about other oils etc etc (this is besides the point). So, I bought this at Whole Foods for about $5-6. It is made by Heritage Products and comes in a convenient spray bottle. What I do is I spray this on my face (2-3 sprays) after applying my normal toner (Mario Badescu's Cleansing Lotion C in the day or diluted ACV at night). After I spray it, I pat it on my skin all around to make sure my face is evenly coated. My skin is just smooth, radiant, and beautiful. My face also loves this since I'm in the sun a lot so it soothes my face. This definitely gave some life to my skin. My pores look a lot smaller now and my skin texture looks a lot more uniform. However, I will mention that I started using Jojoba oil in my routine at the same time so I have a feeling that contributed to my skin improving in texture, too! I found a bottle of cheap, pure rosewater (Cortas) for $2.39 at my local Armenian super market and will be using that to fill up my Heritage Product's bottle when I'm out! This is an amazing product. Do give it a chance if you aren't allergic to roses. You'll love the effect in the long term :) My routine: Morning: Shiseido pureness foam cleanser Mario Badescu Cleansing Lotion C Rose water (sprayed on face) Jojoba Oil (to moisturize) Neutrogena s/b SPF 30 Night: Mario Badescu Botanical Gel ACV toner Rose water Jojoba Oil

Skincare - Face -Mario Badescu - Special Cleansing Lotion "C"
rated 5 of 5
nubletta 6/12/2011 7:01:00 AM

HG toner. I've repurchased this twice. One bottle lasts me from 9 months to a year. I had received this as a sample from MB for filling out the skin survey. At first, I hated the scent of it and felt it was too over powering so I didn't touch it for a while. When I ran out of my current toner, I started using this and saw that it was working well on my skin. The scent didn't linger. I ended up liking the scent (probably because I got used to it). The bottle itself consists of a yellow-colored toner with a powder substance in the bottom. Make sure you shake it up before using it. My oily, acne prone skin is very fond of this toner. It has helped me clear up my skin from acne. I still get break outs, but not as frequently. I also enjoy using this on my eyebrows pre/post plucking. I feel that it makes it less painful for removal.
