Fragrances -Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle
normy_normz 12/27/2012 11:25:00 AM
No matter how many other high-end and obscure fragrances I try I always end up back with Coco Mademoiselle (or at least hinting heavily for my significant other to buy it for a special occasion!) The reason I adore Coco Mademoiselle so much is that it really does smell like a real perfume should smell. As much as I do balk at the prohibitively expensive price it really is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. I wear the EDP and it lasts all day and has a warmth and depth that cheaper synthetic fragrances just can't fake. Coco Mademoiselle reminds me of a classic Chanel bag in that it has a subtle elegance that doen't need to scream or shout. It really is the perfect floral and will always be a part of my fragrance wadrobe.

Lipstick -MAC - Sheen Supreme Lipstick - Korean Candy
normy_normz 12/27/2012 10:38:00 AM
I purchased this sight unseen from the MAC website as I rock every other shade of bright lip (hot pink, red, deep berry!) and yet I havent gone down the orange route yet. I picked this shade because I wasn't sure if an Orange lip was really for me so I figured this formula would be easy to sheer out further if needed and would give me enough of a pop of colour to see if I liked it. In the end not only do I love this colour but I also love the formula and have since purchased a few more Supreme Sheen Lipsticks. I really do love the glossy wet look formula that provides a punch of pigment without it being too overdone. I highly reccomend this if you are wanting an easy colour fix that doesnt need the precision of a traditional lipstick as you can just swipe and go!

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Bare Study
normy_normz 12/27/2012 10:28:00 AM
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I am a total PPP and this is my go to product for a natural yet polished work look. I usually only do a quick swipe of this with some bold mascara and I'm good to go. I do occasionally use this as an eyshadow primer too and again it works perfectly and helps my shadow stay in place without creasing or budging. A definate staple in my overflowing make-up kit as its the perfect shimmery champagne thats not too OTT on the glitter

Polishes -Essie - Fishnet Stockings
normy_normz 11/23/2012 9:00:00 AM
I'm starting to really jump on the Essie bandwagon and I find their formulas to last alot longer and have a better finish than OPI; now if only Essie had the OPI brush then it would be perfection! Onto the colour though and this one is amazing. I do have this and both Vodka & Caviar from OPI and I have to say I prefer Fishnet Stockings. The reason is that Fishnet Stockings looks perfect in 2 coats whereas Vodka and Caviar requires 3 and even then it can still be a little bit too sheer. All in all a perfect classic pin-up red that is a staple in any 'nail wadrobe'

Polishes -OPI - Cajun Shrimp
normy_normz 11/23/2012 8:57:00 AM
I love love LOVE this colour and I'm generally not much of a coral kind of girl. As usual with OPI you get perfect coverage in 2 coats and it is a gorgeous shade that in different lights can look pink, red or even orange. This also looks amazing as a pedicure colour for the summer. This is a staple that I will be repurchasing if I ever run out.

Lotions/ Creams -Clarins - Foot Beauty Treatment Cream
normy_normz 11/23/2012 8:54:00 AM
Rich and hydrating but yet it still sinks in quickly. It also has that clean herbal yet expensive smell that Clarins products are know for... I probably wouldnt purchase it on its own as it is quite expensive for a foot cream but a little does go a long way and I got it is a pack with alot of my other favourite body products.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - RESIST BHA 9
normy_normz 11/23/2012 8:51:00 AM
This product works really well at clearing up blemishes alot faster than they normally would on their own! I do find it a little bit expensive and as other people mentioned the pump is very tempermental and quirts out way too much... I wish it was easier to dispense a small amount

Polishes -OPI - Japanese Rose Garden
normy_normz 10/15/2012 8:37:00 AM
I'm not really a fan of nude nails (even though I do own a tonne of them!) and I find that this is the perfect understated colour with a point of difference in the slight shimmer to the formula. 2 coats and I have a perfect mani and as per usual I love the OPI packaging as the brush is amazing. A real staple colour and I will be repurchasing for sure once I finish (which is saying something as I own 50+ nailpolishes!)

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush Pink Swoon
normy_normz 9/21/2012 10:00:00 AM
I bought this on a whim one day when I went up to the MAC counter and asked for the perfect natural pink blush that would suit my super pale porcelain complexion. When she picked this one out I thought she was crazy as I usually go for more of a dusty rose but she was spot on in her selection! Whilst it looks scary in the pan it actually provides a nice sheer wash of colour that suits pale skin to a tee. Also being MAC it is finely milled and beautifully pigmented and hence application is a breeze. I usually alternate between either this or Nars- Orgasm depending on the look I want.

Highlighters -Canmake - Highlighter
normy_normz 9/21/2012 9:46:00 AM
I picked this up when I was in Japan as it was quite cheap (I think I only paid a couple of hundred yen for it) Mine is actually a little bit different as it is the 'Glow Twin Colour' Version and its split into two with one half being a pure silvery white and the other half being a soft goldeny beige and it doesnt come with a brush. I have to admit I was not expecting too much for such a cheap product and I would say that it is average in its performance. Whilst both the colours are lovely as highlighters and the glow the impart is nice I do find that the glitter is far too chunky and obvious and is quite garish in natural sunlight. It is for that reason I am just using it as an eyeshadow which is a shame because if it was a little bit more finely milled it would be a perfect highlighter!

Loose Powders -MAC - Select Sheer Loose Powder
normy_normz 9/21/2012 8:12:00 AM
This is one of those products that I take for granted. I use it all the time and think it is just mediocre until I try to use another brand and I realise just how good it is and of course I go running back to rebuy! The reason I love this so much is that it 'sets' my makeup without being too glittery or matte. It is the perfect setting powder as it helps soak up any excess shinyness without looking chalky. I love that my skin has a natural satin matte look after I use it and whilst I dont think it's quite my HG its still a makeup staple for me!

Cleansers -Clinique - Rinse-off foaming cleanser
normy_normz 9/21/2012 7:53:00 AM
I used to use this cleanser religously when I worked for Clinique but to be honest I havent rebought it since I left the company and have since found better. The one thing that is unabeatable about this product was the foam it produced! You get such a rich thick foam from such a tiny amount of product and it really does feel quite luxurious when washing my face. The other good thing about this product is that it really did get off all my stubborn hard to budge makeup like waterproof mascara and long-last lipstick. The downside that has made me stray is the fact that it did tend to dry my skin out a little bit. I know for some people who are super oily thats fine as alot of people love the 'squeaky clean and tight' feeling but its not for me and I've since found cheaper drugstore cleansers that get the job done.

Polishes -OPI - Koala Bear-y
normy_normz 9/1/2012 10:21:00 AM
I find myself reaching for this colour quite frequently even though I have a multitude of nailpolishes and alot of ones in the same colour family. The reason I love this one so much is that the colour is so pigmented you only need 2 coats and those coats go on smooth as silk. Also I find this colour to be alot slower to chip than some of my other OPIS which is a big win. Lastly the colour is beautiful! A nice pink that isnt too garishly bright.... pure perfection!

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole Ultra 24h
normy_normz 9/1/2012 10:13:00 AM
Ok so I will start of by saying I used to use the old version and apart from some slight oxidisation and the palest shade being too dark (for reference I'm probably close to an NC10 and can never find anything to match) it was a really amazing foundation. After having a few other high-end foundations in rotation for awhile I thought I would go back to Lancome and see what the new formula is all about. PROS -really is budge proof, once this baby dries it is there for the day which i love - the finish is amazing, a satin matte that doesnt look to overly made up -the coverage is full without being cakey or fake -the pump bottle makes it so convenient CONS - the lightest shade is still far too dark for me and has to be well blended otherwise I look like I'm wearing a dark mask - it does tend to oxidise but only if you are in the heat or sweating a bit in which case watch out as this will turn orange FAST - it is overly fragranced and has alcohol which I know isnt good for my skin as it has been dry and flaky with some small bumpy breakouts Overall this isnt a day to day winner for me as the cons far outweigh the pros and it does tend to ruin my skin. I will still keep it in my stash though for the odd night out when I want to be both flawless and budgeproof! Looks like the search for the HG foundation continues

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - SalIy Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat
normy_normz 9/1/2012 9:48:00 AM
Really does dry quick! It is dry to the touch with 60 seconds and dry enough to do normal tasks within 30 minutes. This anti-chip factor is so so but I change my nail polish colours so often it doesnt matter too much. I love this more for the high gloss and quick dry factor .... definately my holy grail thus far on my topcoat quest
