Eyeliner -TopShop - Kohl eyeliner in Coal
rated 3 of 5

The packaging was what really attracted me to get the product in the first place. It was unique with the polka dots all over, so it stood out from the typical cosmetic packaging of sleek lines and reflective black surfaces. The eyeliner is good, it produces a deep, dark black without too much effort, so it is a plus point. However, it smudged pretty bad on me but that could be due to my slightly oily eyelids. I agree with some other reviewers here that the cap wasn't as great. Mine split along the length about 1 week of daily use, and then I always had trouble trying to keep the eyeliner closed. The price is reasonable, at 9SGD. This would be a good starter eyeliner for young girls.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Flashy Liner Waterproof
rated 3 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 11:39:00 AM

I got this as a gift after I misplaced my previous eyeliner, so I cannot comment on price. The eyeliner was so-so, not bad, but nothing great to shout about either. It was easy to sharpen because the pencil was quite solid, and I liked how the wood was also black because it complemented the minimalist black pencil body. It smudged on me, sadly, and the colour was not as intense as I hoped it would be. I had to go over a few times to achieve a dark black. On the lower lashline it didn't have much staying power and would fade mysteriously a few hours into wearing it. It was also the most difficult to remove amongst all the eyeliners I've tried.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Liner Clubbing
rated 1 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 11:29:00 AM

On the packaging it says that clubbers swear by this product because it is supposedly sweat-proof and water-proof but it doesn't seem to work on me. The brush is extremely thin. It's good in the sense that drawing fine lines will be no problem, but bad in other, because it takes multiple dips into the jar to fill in and draw thicker streaks. And it was certainly not waterproof- I could wash it all away (even after I gave it some time to set in, and even tried it with primer) with just tap water. And it stung my eyes when I tried to draw the outer corners of my eyes. I'll be returning it to the store.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Liner Feutre - 11 Noir
rated 2 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 11:22:00 AM

A total letdown, especially seeing as the price is not exactly cheap either. It took a long time before the eyeliner liquid was able to flow smoothly through the felt-tip, but all it takes is one day with the lid not tightly closed to waste the entire bottle (the liquid sort of dried out and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to flow through the tip) When applied the colour is not very intense, I had to go over an area a few times to get a solidl black streak. It cost me $23.90 and since then I've found way better ones that cost less than that. For certain a one-time purchase.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick Really Red
rated 3 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 11:18:00 AM

Beautiful red. I'm Asian with medium skin and slightly yellow undertones and not-so-perfectly-white teeth so I'm wary of full red lipsticks that will bring out the imperfections, but Really Red is really awesome red. I find that the colour is brilliantly intense and possibly a true red that is neither too cool nor too warm. It also balances out the yellowness in my skin and gives it a more rosy look. The colour is very striking, so it'll probably be more suited to special occasions or nights out, although I do wear it to school if I feel like it. I didn't buy a lip liner to go with it, but it worked fine without the liner. It doesn't feather, and with some practice it is actually possible to use the sharper end of the lipstick to define the edges first. For this lipstick to really work, it's a MUST to exfoliate. If I don't, the dry bits of skin on my lips become more obvious because this matte lipstick is so drying! The colour will gather around the dry skin, forming blotchy patches of 'red skin'. Once you exfoliate + moisturize, though, the colour can last well the whole day. This is the first red lipstick I've tried so I cannot compare it with other brands, but for now I'm satisfied with the lipstick and will repurchase unless I hear of a better alternative.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner in 01 BLACK TRUFFLE
rated 3 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 11:05:00 AM

This was the first eyeliner I ever tried, and now in retrospect I'd say that one big gripe about it was that it smudged really badly on me. I have slightly oily lids and where I live in it is constantly hot and humid, so by the end of the day I'll be having panda eyes! It was so bad that I had to routinely visit public toilets to check my makeup and clean away any stray eyeliner marks on the bottom of my eyes. One redeeming factor was that it was pretty pigmented, so it was good for creating bold looks. However, it kind of meant that it smudged more on me, and I figured the trade-off wasn't worth it. So when I misplaced the eyeliner, I decided not to get a new one.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 10:58:00 AM

Eyeliner is my must-have makeup item no matter where I go so I've been for a long time trying to find a good one that won't smudge, lasts long and is pigmented. I've tried several brands and types before (Revlon, Bourjois, Sephora/ liquid and pencil) but none of them were really satisfactory. I was initially going to get the M.A.C in Blacktrack but was hesitating because of the price (and I still needed to get the brush!!) so I decided to give the Maybelline one a try after reading the reviews in MUA. The Maybelline one cost $19.90 in Sg (regular price). Since then I've been using it almost daily for a month now, and so far no major complains. The eyeliner is VERY pigmented so the small jar can take you a long way. It does smudge, actually, but only by a bit at the outer edges of my eyes (because I tend to do the cat-eye flick). But it doesn't fade otherwise, so no touch-ups are necessary. Perhaps the major gripe would be of the brush. It is the round, tapered tip kind so you use the tip to draw fine lines and the bigger body to fill in. For the first few uses it's really easy to draw the fine flick towards the end. However, once I started getting lazy and didn't clean the brush often, the eyeliner would harden on it so it becomes like one solid block. (Imagine acrylic paint binding the bristles of a paint brush) It became difficult to pick more eyeliner cream from the jar when the brush hardened. I would probably still purchase this eyeliner because the formula is one of the better ones I've tried so far, but I'd get a proper eyeliner brush with the angled brush tip. And maybe a bottle of brush cleaning liquid too.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte lipstick in Mauve It Over
rated 5 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 10:30:00 AM

I was looking for a everyday nude lipstick, and my previous positive experience with Really Red brought my search back to Revlon's matte line. The colour is great-- opaque and highly pigmented, and just one swipe will cover my lips! The name is kinda misleading though, seeing as there is almost no lilac tint to it, more of a soft, all-rounded nude pink. I have medium Asian skin with slight yellow undertones and I find the shade of pink very flattering for me. It wasn't too sickly pale nor too striking. It lasts throughout the day too, unless I eat something then I need some touch-up. I think everyone who want to use matte lipsticks will have the concern of dry lips but this doesn't have that effect on me! It's super creamy and I didn't even have to exfoliate/prep in advance to apply it. Even when it showed signs of drying out (especially on the bottom lip, where the crack lines are) it's not as obvious compared to Really Red. In conclusion a pretty good lipstick for the price (I got it at $12.90 during a sale), considering that I'll be using this almost everyday.

Blush -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
rated 4 of 5
ninjaturtles 11/25/2011 10:07:00 AM

Major love! If I don't have time in the morning to do the whole routine I just apply this on my cheeks and I'm out of the house! It gives a very subtle, natural flush and stays put the whole day. A big plus point because as a student I don't have all the time in the world to touch up my makeup frequently. Its gel-like consistency means it won't drip and create a mess, and you also have more time to work with it (blending it and stuff). It's a lip and cheek stain but I use it more for my cheeks because it's not really lasting on lips. Also there's this weird sticky feeling when the tint is setting in on my lips. Generally it's a really good product for the price ($22.90 in Sg). When I misplaced my first tube I panicked and went to my nearest store to get another, so it pretty much explains how much I like it!
