This has become my holy grail foundation. I bought this because I was on vacation and forgot to pack my liquid foundation. After using +$60 foundations in the past from Chanel and other high-end brands, I was pleased to find that Revlon's Photoready Compact was so great. It is a cream foundation that becomes liquid when you press on the screen and apply it with the sponge. This product is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My sensitive skin did not break out as it usually does. I got no type of skin reaction whatsoever and it also includes SPF. I took one lippie off because it might look cakey if you put too much on so application and setting with some light powder is key. Totally sold out everywhere, I was lucky enough to find a few left in my shade Shell on ebay. LOVE IT and will use it until it is discontinued.
Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
ninadelsol 1/14/2012 3:13:00 AM
I have long eye lashes and as much as I wanted to love this mascara, I found it to be easy to clump on the ends of my lashes. After two coats, it looks like I have long fake eyelashes on, which is something that I don't like. With three coats, I look like I have spiders on my lids. I usually go for a more natural look which I can achieve using CG Lash Blast for a fraction of the price. I will keep this mascara for special occasions but I don't plan to repurchase.
I absolutely love this coral-peach-pink shade and the packaging but the formula is a little bit drying on my lips and gives me only 2-3 hours wear. :(
Vitalumiere Aqua is a great light-medium covergae foundation with a slight matte finish. The reason I took off one lippie is because I feel that it accentuates my dry areas a little more than necessary and I prefer more of a dewy tinted moisturizer look. That being said, it is in my top 3 best holy grail foundations right after Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizers.
Loose Powders -Chanel - Poudre Universelle Libre Translucent 2
ninadelsol 1/14/2012 2:49:00 AM
This is a very high quality fine-milled powder that is perfect for setting your foundation. I use tinted moisturizer by Laura Mercier and Chanel VitaLumiere, so all I need was a powder to set my foundation lightly without being a thick layer of powder foundation. Chanel's Poudre Universelle did just that. As with all things Chanel, there is a light delicate fragrance but it wears off after a few minutes. If you are looking for full coverage powder foundation, stick with your same old MAC powder as usual. If you are looking for a translucent setting powder to give you a flawless face, this is it. Buy it now and you will love it.
Concealers -Chanel - Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer
ninadelsol 5/27/2011 9:25:00 PM
I am very happy I splurged on this Chanel concealer. It is my absolute Holy Grail concealer. Not waxy, oily, greasy or thick; this concealer provided medium coverage with one dot on each undereye area. It dried quickly to a perfectly natural finish and i have no dark shadows under my eyes whatsoever. I like a natural look and only wear Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua foundation or Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer as foundation set with a light dusting of transclucent powder. This concealer makes a perfect match for a polished, chic and natural look. I am NW20 and B20 Beige Tendre and Ivory/Nude, and I usd the concealerin 20 Beige Ivoire for a perfect match (not too light or dark). Chanel's Correcteur Perfection is the best concealer I have EVER used. UPDATE 1/2012: On my second tube. I love this concealer! Wouldn't use anything else.
Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Subversive Apothecary Anti-Aging Serum
ninadelsol 2/10/2011 12:08:00 AM
I'm a big oil fan. I love DHC's cleaning oil. I stopped using eye cream and started using Vitamin E oil instead. So I was pleasantly surprised by Subversive Apothecary's Anti-Aging Serum. FREE OF: petrochemical derivatives, preservatives, fragrance, irritants (including essential oils), silicones, crosspolymers, copolymers, -cones, and –siloxanes, comedogenic ingredients. It's also free of water and fillers. This oil is amazing! I has replaced my eye cream and I am using it as my daily moisturizer after washing my skin in the morning with Purpose Gentle Cleanser. Love it!
2nd EDIT: It's been almost 4 month and I am 100% clear, radiant and don't use foundation on a daily basis anymore. EDIT: I've been using this for 2 months and my skin has never looked better. I am 98% clear with one or two small spots a month. Amazing product! I was prescribed Differin two weeks ago by my dermatologist. My skin has been reactive over the past 6 months. I break out due to stress and my continuous testing of skincare products and have developed fine lines around my eyes, whiteheads and sporadic acne on T-zone and cheeks. She told me to STOP using everything that I am currently using. She prescribed a gentle lactic acid cleanser called Lactibon to balance the PH of my acid mantle. She also recommend Purpose Gel Cleanser if Lactibon wasn't available. She then told me to use a pea size amount of Differin Gel after washing my face each night. In the morning, I was my face with the cleanser and then I apply C-Vital Oil-Free Gel for Oily Combination skin. Differin can make my eyelids a little dry, so I keep some Vitamin E oil handy and just tap my upper eyelids and undereye area with it. After using hundreds of products in the past 4 years, I am relieved to see only 3 products next to my sink. At first, Differin made me breakout a little and my skin felt dry, but nothing major. After 2 weeks (and although I still have a few whiteheads that are under the surface), my skin looks clear, radiant, and even my fine lines and freckles are lightening. I have oocasional purging but they clear up within 2-3 days due tho the Differin. I absolutely love Differin. Go out and get a prescription now!
Top notes are black currant and italian mandarin; middle notes are orris, orange blossom, indian jasmine, damask rose, violet leaf, ylang-ylang and lily-of-the-valley; base notes are sandalwood, amber, vanilla and vetiver. This is a wondeful perfume. I started wearing it when I was 18 and met my husband wearing it. He says he loved me at first sight because i smelled different to all the other bubbly Clinique Happy girls of the time. :) This is a classic scent. Very chanel like. It is definitely a fruity-floral that is elgant and memorable and unique. Lasts all day on me without feeling overpowering.
After struggling for thr past 4 years with skin issues due to the evil Bare Minerals, I went to a dermatologist who classified my skin type as sensitive, oily t-zone and normal cheek zone. She prescribed Differin gel 1% and Atache C-Vital Gel Hidro-protector. I wash my face with a sensitive skin cleanser with lactid acid twice a day (morning and night) and I follow-up with Differin and C Vital. The improvement was almost immediate and my skin had no wierd allergic reactions, burning, tigtening or breakouts. Since then, my skin is clear, radiant and has NEVER looked better. I was so impressed, I bought their antioxidant full kit and will post my review once I've completed it. C Vital is a light, almost liquidy gel. It reminds me of Alpha Hydrox 10% Glycolic Moisturizer but C Vital smells good - like honey and some kind of citrus. However, the scent is very faint and delicate and was gone in a few minutes. My skin feels amazing!! Buy Atache's C-Vital if you are using Differin, and are looking for a good moisturizer to use with Differin Gel that has Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid,Vitamin A and Alpha Lipioc Acid which are all great antioxidants. I know some people say that you can't use Differin with a moisturizer but my experience has been amazing and my skin looks great, so go for it! You can find them at specialty dermatologists and spas. The product is made in Spain and costs under $40, making it more affordable than some high-end brands that do nothing for your skin. EDIT 1/2012: Unfortunately the formula has changed and it has made my skin reactive. The moisturizer now comes in a golden tube. On to the next moisturizer.
Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Fantasia - IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel
ninadelsol 12/31/2010 12:44:00 PM
PROS: Leaves my 3C curly hair very shiny. No need for a shine serum. CONS: Sticky. Sticks to your neck. Flakes on scalp. The absolute worst hair gel I have ever tried. Gooey. STICKY. Go with Nexxus Exxtra instead.
PROS: Love this bronzer. Perfectly matte, no shimmer or glitter, and the absolute most natural shade of medium bronze that you can put on your skin. For a sensitive skinned freckled face girl like me this is a godsend because I can't tan naturally. I even like the small wooden handled brush. Very Chinatown chic. :) No fragrance. Perfect!
CONS: Too expensive to be in a small, impractical cardboard box! I'm used to Chanel's packaging so the packaging is definitely a downer for such a great product. :(
Toners -Mario Badescu - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
ninadelsol 11/22/2010 3:27:00 PM
PROS: Smells amazing, like light roses. Sets my makeup better than any other water based spray. Refreshes my makeup when it starts to look old. Prevents oxidation of my makeup. Cooling and refreshing. Love it!!! CONS: NONE.
Sunscreen -Korres - Sweet Orange Sunscreen Face and Body Milk SPF 15
ninadelsol 11/13/2010 2:25:00 PM
This product doesn't smell like sweet orange. It smells like smoky olive oil. I don't understand the point of the spray when this product is a milk and is not light enough to mist on your face. You have to spray it on your hand and then pat it on your face. Will not repurchase.
Powder -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium [DISCONTINUED]
ninadelsol 11/1/2010 10:23:00 PM
I am on my second MAC Skinfinish Mineralize - Light-Medium, and it's definitely a great product. I gave it a 4 because I feel that it settles into my light lines to much and is a bit too powdery. I have to apply it with a very light hand to get the look that I want. I mostly use it to set my concealer on a daily basis. if I find another product that is better, I'll switch it but for now it's OK. Update 1/2012: Using Chanel's Poudre Universelle instead.
