Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
rated 4 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 10/15/2011 12:18:00 AM

I have been using this bronzer for the past 3 months and I am pleased to say that it is one of the more natural bronzers I've ever used. Previously, I've always purchased Peach Leopard from Too Faced but then I felt like it was leaning more towards the orange-y side and has a bit of shimmer to it. I think that bronzer is perfect for the summer and summer only. It can be a little too frosty, depending on how much you apply. So I was searching for a matte bronzer and picked this is up at Target. Seriously, so cheap. It's about $2. I find that this gives me a more natural look. It defines my cheekbones and mimics a shadow color but more of a warmer color than an ash brown usually used for contouring. I find that this shade is appropriate for work. I will continue to repurchase, despite it's cheap and annoying packaging. Sometimes I can't get the dang compact to close!

Treatments -Philosophy - Resurface Kit - The Microdelivery In-Home Vitamin C Peptide Peel
rated 3 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 10/15/2011 12:12:00 AM

I have very mixed feelings about this product because there are some things that I like but there are A LOT of things that I dont like about this product. Firstly, I love how it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft after each application. I feel like every time I apply the peel, my skin feels softer than the time before. And the fragrance of the scrub is just so refreshing and wakes you up, it just kind of brightens your mood. (I know that sounds kind of silly!) Ok, down to the gritty stuff: this peel has lasted me since Mid-July and I still have about 3 more uses before the scrub is all gone. So as far as longevity goes, i'm glad that I didn't spend $65 for a product that only lasts a month. I use the peel twice a week so I've already had plenty of applications. With that said, as many times as I have used it I still haven't noticed a difference in changing my skin's texture but I have noticed a difference in the brightness of my complexion. My skin looks less dull and much brighter but I still have unevenness around my cheeks and chin area where I have the most hyper-pigmentation and scarring. So it's frustrating for me to be almost at the bottom of the products and still haven't seen any improvement in my skin's texture. For that, I'm not sure if I will repurchase.

Eyeliner -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Zero-Smudge Liquid Eye Liner
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 9/5/2011 1:18:00 AM

This is by far the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used. It honestly lives up to it's name. I probably have the oilIest face in the world. I live off of primers and blotting tissues and still produce so much oil around my cheeks, nose, AND eyelids. But somehow, this liner manages to stay put the entire day without smearing or smudging. The texture is quite glossy and at first I didn't like the glossiness but I've grown accustomed to it now. But i will say this... I have had difficulty trying to set the liquid with a powder and that turned out to be an awful mess. So... if you're trying to find a liner that dries matte, don't purchase this liner. It stays semi-glossy throughout the day. The felt-tip brush is nice, I prefer the stiffer kind (like NYX eye markers) but it's adaptable... also, the only iffy thing I have about this product is how much product is dispensed onto the brush. I find myself kind of wiping it on the sides of the tube to take off excess product but other than that, it's an excellent product and I will definitely re-purchase (despite it's $20 price tag). iIT'S WORTH IT!

(you can see a picture of the pairing i used in the product gallery)

Mascara -Shiseido - Nourishing Mascara Base
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 7/25/2011 5:36:00 PM

One of the most underrated products EVER. I've been using Shiseido Mascara Bases since 2006. There are 2 noticeable differences between the first base and the current base: 1) The consistency: the current base has a slightly liquidy consistency. I remember the first base has a thicker, kind of clumpier texture. The current base also takes a little longer to dry. With the older base, I would wait 2 minutes for it to dry before applying mascara, now I have to wait almost 5 minutes. But besides that, it almost seems like the primer performs the same way. It still holds my curl throughout the day and defines each of my sparse lashes. (Making them seem fuller and thicker) 2) The brush: the older brush had a smaller, fatter brush and the current primer has a long, more narrower brush. Personally I prefer the current brush because it reaches the corner of my eyes and coats each of my lashes without having to pull or tug my eye to get the product in there. Also, I think the current brush distributes an even amount of product whereas the previous one would sometimes clump up on its own and then it would take me longer to spread the product out. Overall, I love the Nourishing Mascara Base. I think it is pricey but definitely worth it. I use this everyday but at the same time, this product lasts me for a very long time. I only apply about 2 coats for each eye. Definitely worth the money.

Blush -NYX - pinched
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 7/22/2011 12:34:00 AM

One of the most flattering shades for an NC40 skintone. I love how naturally flushed it makes my skin look. Not too shimmery and not too powdery either. :)

Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - HD Microperfecting Primer in 0 Neutral
rated 2 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 7/22/2011 12:31:00 AM

I had really high hopes for this product but it just didn't perform as well as I hoped it would. The texture is really runny, almost like a cheap Jergens body lotion. The smell is nice and not bothersome... but the primer actually doesn't help my makeup stay. I still have to blot and re-apply foundation. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

Primer/ Corrector -Amazing Cosmetics - Anti-Aging Primer
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 7/22/2011 12:21:00 AM

This is the BEST makeup primer I have ever tried in my life! I cannot be more ecstatic about spreading the word! I have tried MAC's Prep & Prime and MUFE HD Primer and none of them have performed as well as Amazing Cosmetic's Primer. I was first introduced to this primer because I purchased Amazing Cosmetic's 'Amazing Concealer' and it contains a .5 oz sample of the primer. The texture of this primer feels almost like a serum. Almost the same texture as Prep & Prime but it doesn't contain any of the shiny stuff that's in MAC's. I love how easily the primer glides over your face; it doesn't feel sticky or goopy like MUFE's. Also, I really like the packaging. There's a nozzle at the end of the tube and that allows you to control the amount of product being dispensed. A little goes a long way, too. I love the fact that the product is made Paraben-Free, Oil Free, AND fragrance free. The primer doesn't irritate my skin either, it's super lightweight and feels amazing on my skin. Performance Make-up Wise: I use MAC's Studio Fix over the primer and also apply MUFE's HD Powder. My makeup lasts all day because of this primer. I haven't changed my foundation routine except for primers, and this is the only primer that TRULY, TRULY makes my makeup last. I don't have to reapply powder or foundation mid-day. All I have to do is blot with some rice paper and my skin just looks perfect. ALSO-- this product is a two-in-one product: A Primer and A Moisturizer. So $32 for this amazing product is definitely worth it.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Joan Rivers - Great Hair Day - thinning hair fill-in powder
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 4/18/2011 1:39:00 PM

Thinning hair is embarrassing. But thinning hair in your early 20's is just plain awful and traumatizing. I am a 23 year old woman and I have always had thin hair at my scalp. I usually part my hair to the side and wear it long (even though I know you're supposed to have short layers but I don't think I look great in short hair), because it's so long, it weighs down my hair and show even more of my scalp. And of course, I have really oily hair so my scalp would be nice and shiny for the whole world to see. I would always think that everyone would stare at my scalp and talk about it and that would make me self conscience... it was just terrible. So finally, I picked one of these up at Bed Bath and Beyond. I haven't even seen the informercial... the product just caught my attention. Needless to say, this product is amazing. And I'm not sure what I would do without it. Noted that this product isn't suppose to solve my thinning hair but masque it, is just perfectly fine with me. Seeing as I am currently pregnant, I really can't use Rogaine or similar products like that. This powder will do just fine. And for the price ($20), maybe even cheaper than the informerical?, is just amazing. I love this product so much that now I have my self confidence back, I feel like I can now wear my hair however I want to. I'm not as embarrassed to approach my fellow employees and managers. It's just simply that amazing. The only problem I can possibly think of right now is the size of the compact. I wish it came in a bigger size. I would totally purchase it... just because I use a good amount of the powder. Probably about 5 swirls to cover up my desired areas. I just fear that I may use up the product before the end of the month and I just purchased it not even 2 weeks ago. -Creates a perfect and natural shadow for your part or hairline. Undetectable for others to see or notice. -Product sticks to your scalp and doesn't budge or transfer (not even on my pillow) -Cheap and inexpensive -Lasts all day -No fragrance -Medium sized pan -I will reorder FOR LIFE!

Brows -Ardell - Brow Sculpting Gel
rated 5 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 10/26/2009 1:54:00 AM

I love this product. I normally do my eyebrows everyday... I apply powder to shape and darken my brows and then layer the gel over to help put the hairs stay put. I love how big the brush is. Just one, clean sweep over my brow and it's all covered =) It's usually really cheap at most pharmacy stores... best CLEAR gel i've ever tried.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Extra Volume Collagen Mascara (waterproof)
rated 3 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 10/26/2009 1:52:00 AM

I'm actually kind of torn about this product. As a waterproof mascara, this takes the cake. My mascara doesn't flake or smudge at all. I originally purchased this mascara because I knew that I was going to go to a friend's funeral and I wanted a mascara that wouldn't run. And after my waterworks, i looked in the mirror and my mascara didn't run at all. So as far as waterproof goes, this is amazing. Now, as far as noticeably extra volume... I couldn't tell a difference between this and other mascaras. I love wearing this mascara if I know that I'm going to be out partying. All the humidity and sweat (whether at a bar or a club) I know this mascara will stay put and not smudge. Wal-Mart sells this product for about $6, so cheap compared to other waterproof mascaras.

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam Eyes
rated 4 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 9/5/2008 1:49:00 AM

This mascara delivers dramatic length and volume that I have always wished for! It literally looks like I have fake eyelashes on everytime I apply it. The brush could be difficult for some people because the wand has 4 sides to it. 2 of them are long, comb-like bristles and then the other 2 are shorter bristles that seem to deposit a rich, black color onto your lashes. I usually apply the shorter bristles first (to coat and darken my lashes) and then I turn the wand and use the comb to fan out my lashes. I usually use about 3-4 coats and I seriously can't believe the results I get! They are perfect! I got it at Target for $5 (I think it was an introductory sale) but price doesn't matter, if the mascara works, I'll buy it! The packaging is adorable! It's black and hot pink and at the tip of the handle is a little princess crown. Very cute and trendy. I will most likely buy again and again. This is my first Rimmel product and I have to say I am quite pleased =)

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lemon Aid
rated 2 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 8/3/2008 2:00:00 AM

it's expensive. cakey. thick. made my eyes look heavier. it also looked very unnatural on me too. i'm very tan and it just looked white on me. it's also difficult to blend BUT... i find it easier to apply shadow on top of this than UDPP. however, it doesn't help with my oily lids, in fact it creases on me within a half hour. will not buy again. EVER.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 3 of 5
nikkifreakinnb 8/3/2008 1:57:00 AM

As much as I want to love this product, I can't. I don't know if it's me but I'm having a strange reaction with my UDPP. I've had it for over a month now and I'm still having the same results: My eye lids are relatively oily and a bit stained (darker than the rest of my face). So I wanted to get this product because EVERYONE raves about it. It is a bit on the expensive side. I think it's $16 at Sephora? At first I was a little hesitant but I figured you get what you pay for, right? WRONG! Somedays it'll work and somedays it'll look horrible. I find it a bit difficult to blend the eyeshadow without it looking patchy or having more of the product on one side. It also gets a bit tacky on me. I don't know... It's weird. I'm definitely NOT looking forward to cutting it open and dumping the rest of the product in a pot. I find that terribly time consuming and a waste of $16 (i'm assuming most of the money is because of the brand or packaging). Probably will not buy again. Maybe L'Oreal De-crease will work better on me?
