Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Honey
rated 3 of 5
nightinggale07 2/3/2013 1:06:00 PM

I'm on the fence on if I'd purchase this again. For reference, I'm NC15 with medium pigmented lips. Let me start by saying that the color Honey is a perfect mid-toned mauvey pink. It leans a teeny bit to the coral side once I've applied it. It is a beautiful color that looks natural and I find that it would be very versatile with just about any makeup look and any skin tone. The packaging is nice- I like that it twists up rather than having to sharpen it. The chubby pencil look is adorable as well :) Here's Revlon's claim to fame for this product: "It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour." Pampering? Eh, maybe. It has a delicious mint feeling that feels nice on the lips when first applied but instantly disappears. Softer, smoother lips? No. I exfoliated before applying this product and I felt like I had to press hard to get color to show up and then it felt a little like...moist chalk. It settled into the very few lines I have on my lips and made them look dry. Applying a balm or chapstick before this is necessary if you want your lips to look smooth and soft. Lasts hour after hour? I can say, with confidence, that this does last quite a while. I've worn it to work several times and I can always detect a faint flush of this when I get home 9 hours after first applying it. For around $9 at my local grocery store, this is quite steep when the claims Revlon makes aren't exactly accurate, at least not in my case. I love the color and the packaging is adorable but I'm sure that there are other products that are more moisturizing at a better price.

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
rated 2 of 5

I really wanted to love this perfume! I always smell this on other women and I love the way it smells on them. It is deliciously sweet and instantly identifiable. When I first sprayed this on me, I loved it. It smelled wonderful but then settled and changed to cheap, plastic-y and burnt. My body chemistry normally works well with sweet smells but not Pink Sugar. I would caution most people to try this for a few hours or days before they buy. The packaging is pretty standard. It's a clear glass bottle with pink swirls on it and a pretty pink cap. It looks cute sitting on a vanity or counter. I feel like the price is quite steep - $60 for 3.4oz. There are better, more 'expensive' smelling perfumes out there at comparable prices. I have smelled things similar to Pink Sugar that were much less expensive. Overall, I would not repurchase. It is nice for some but with the way that it smelled after it settled on my skin and at the steep price, I'll save my money. .

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 3 of 5
nightinggale07 1/28/2013 8:36:00 PM

If I could give this a 2.5, I would. That is my actual rating of this product, overall :) Oily/combo skin with a little redness around my nose and very slight darkness under my eyes. I tend to get a few zits each month and can get little flakes here and there- nothing too bad though, just for reference. What I look for, when purchasing a new foundation, is longevity and something that won't move around on my face too much during the day. With some foundations I've tried, pooling has been an issue. Let me just say, that I am a HUGE fan of Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation. I love the look, the longevity and the fact that it didn't seem to change colors (oxidize). I thought the formula was so easy to work with- it blended well and didn't feel to cakey for a long-wearing foundation. When I heard that Colorstay could be a possible cheaper alternative to DW, I went out and bought it immediately! The first few times I wore this, I put it on the same way I'd been putting on my DW; with a damp Sonia Kashuk sponge (purple one, if you're wondering ;)). I was disappointed in this method with Colorstay because I felt like the foundation doesn't blend very easily and I also noticed that it gets quite cakey if the application process isn't overly methodical. I really had to work with this foundation to get it to blend and not be a heavy mess. I also noticed a lot of patchiness with this, even when wearing it over a good primer- yuk. The coverage though, is very good. Zits instantly disappeared, any discolorations (I have freckles!) were covered as well! And, after a 10 hour workday, Colorstay didn't pool or melt away- it looked, more or less, the same as when I first applied it. I then started to mix this with my moisturizer and liked it a lot more. After that, I decided maybe I could mix this with my not-so-long-wearing foundations. This is where I really found the worth in Colorstay. It is such a workhorse! When mixing it with another foundation, it extends the wearing time of it and the not-so-long-wearing foundation really takes the cakiness and blending issues away from Colorstay. That's what I love about Colorstay; it's like a foundation transformer! Overall, I think that, for the price, it might be wonderful for a lot of people. For me, I will stick with Double Wear. This is just a foundation that didn't really work for me and I don't find it to be a huge value to me when I have Double Wear- which works well on it's own and as a 'foundation transformer'.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup
rated 3 of 5

After over 6 months of using this product, I am finally ready to write a review! I was so excited for this to come out, because I so enjoyed the regular liquid form of this that I tried everything to make this work for my combo/oily skin. I am NC10/15 and the lightest shade worked perfectly. The best outcome, for me, with this foundation is to layer a light powder foundation over top of it. This method allows for fuller coverage, lets the luminosity of the foundation show through without being sparkly and helps keep it from sliding off my face so quickly. These are the following conclusions I've reached so far; If you are looking for something heavy/medium coverage, this is not for you. I get 2-3 zits a month (give or take 1 or 2) and this does hardly anything to cover them or mask any residual redness from blemishes. It doesn't cover the pink around my nose or help with the very light circles under my eyes. I still need concealer and/ or powder foundation over top. If you do not set with a mattifying powder or top with a powder foundation, you will sparkle like a pretty (or not so...) little glitter pony. It is not long lasting on someone with combo to oily skin. It slid off my face and pooled in certain places (around my nostrils and in my laugh lines). It also somewhat magnifies any pores or flakes you may have on your face. I find that exfoliating really well helps with this. The packaging stinks. The dispenser on mine broke really easily and was very messy. I do wear this occasionally with a powder foundation over the top of it and it looks lovely. My skin looks perfect and glowy with that application. Most of the time, I can't be bothered with the extra effort it takes to make this foundation work though. I am giving this product a 3 out of 5 because I like it when I can take my time with it but I would not repurchase because I'm hoping that something better comes along.

Concealers -Bare Escentuals - Stroke of LIght
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 1/22/2013 8:33:00 PM

This is a wonderful, subtle highlight. I don't use it as a concealer because I don't think that it covers well enough. I put on all of my makeup and add this as a brightener on the bridge of my noise, under eye area, and on my cupid's bow. It gives a nice bright look that is not over-the-top or glittery. I have the lightest, pinky color and find that it gives my face an extra oomph. The overall effect on my face is a nice, awake, lively, dewey look that I have come to LOVE. It's a silky, thin formula that blends nicely and sinks in without incident. It doesn't pool, patch, or sink into any fine lines. This is my favorite highlighter to date- even though it is a bit expensive, I find it to be worth it because you get quite a bit of product. A little goes a long way! I recommend this to anyone who may be experiencing tired, dull skin or to anyone who wants to add a little extra brightness to their face without the shimmer that most highlighters have.

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 1/20/2013 11:16:00 AM

I got this with my Stila In the Light palette. As the other reviewer before me stated, if it a neutral, matte brown. It is SO saturated and pigmented that it is hard to believe this is a pencil eyeliner. Normally, I have to tug and rub a little bit with pencil liners to get evenness and pigment to show. With this, I barely touch it to my lid and there's even, dark pigmentation. I was skeptical at how smoothly it went on because, generally, the smoother they are, the more easily they smudge and rub off. Not the case with this! This stayed in place all day and did not fade. After 11 hours of wear, it only came off when I took a little makeup remover to it. This is the best eyeliner, to date, that I've tried. I love it and am so glad that they made it available separately from the palette!

Treatments -Alterna - Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 1/11/2013 12:56:00 PM

This product has changed my hair! I have somewhat coarse, curly hair that I straighten or curl almost daily. Anytime I blow dry my hair, it gets SUPER frizzy and stands on end and feels like straw. My hair is rarely ever shiny and rarely ever feels soft. I let my hair air dry until it's about 50% dry, spray 2 pumps of this dry oil into my hands and distribute it throughout my hair, then I proceed to blow dry it. After I'm done blow drying, I put a little more of this on my hair and straighten it. After using this, my hair is instantly transformed into a soft, shiny curtain of hair with little to no frizz and smells great too! I love it. I'm on my second bottle of this and will continue to repurchase. I don't know that my hair could live without it.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick in 'Pinkberry'
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 1/9/2013 1:06:00 PM

Perfect, everyday lipstick! It's a beautiful, light mauve color that I can see going well with a multitude of skintones. I'm NC15 with medium pigmented lips, for reference. The formula of this lipstick is wonderful; silky, lasts long, and feels moisturizing on the lips. I'd repurchase!

Polishes -China Glaze - Westside Warrior
rated 5 of 5

This is a beautiful dark army green color. Everytime I wear this, I get compliments. It looks great against my fair skin and I find it to be much more creative and chic than black. The smooth, creme formula goes on without streaking but you will need two coats to get it to full opacity. It is fine without a top coat but I like my nails to be super shiney so I wear Seche Vite and this nail polish wore for almost a week with minimal chipping. I will definitely repurchase this!

Polishes -OPI - Pirouette My Whistle
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 12/30/2012 8:27:00 PM

The perfect nail polish. It goes well over every nail polish I've tried it with. Black, taupe, white, pink, nude, and even other glitters. It adds that extra oomph that completes a, accent nail or even the entire manicure. Silvermicro glitters, paired with matted silver large hexagons makes this nail polish akin to the night sky.

Polishes -Essie - Beyond Cozy
rated 3 of 5
nightinggale07 12/20/2012 1:06:00 PM

I'm a little on the fence with this one. Application is so-so. It dries very quickly- maybe a little too quickly. I found that it sort of gloops up on the brush and it can be a bit difficult to get an even layer on the nail despite the fact that all the glitters are a uniform size. Even with a good top coat, I had tip chipping after one day (I work a front desk at a hotel and had done the dishes that night so, not heavy duty work!). The redeeming quality is the color. It's a very densely packed, warm silver glitter that is absolutely beautiful. It's great for a night out or at home in a cozy sweater- as the name says, "Beyond Cozy." :)

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Daisy Eau de Parfum
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 12/20/2012 11:44:00 AM

I'm 24 years old and have had trouble transitioning from the icky sweet, floral, teenager-y scents into something a bit more mature but this perfume has helped me find a nice middle ground between the two :) The packaging is cute- a little black bottle with a plastic daisy cap. This perfume is a subtle, floral that is slightly sweet and has maybe a touch of powder. I don't find this perfume to be 'old lady' at all! I find things even slightly 'old lady' or musky to be very repugnant. I think this perfume is refreshing. When I spritz this one, I am transported to a warm, spring evening, walking lazily through a field of daisies with the sun setting over the mountains. I love this perfume. I think it is perfect in every way. It's light, not offensive, refreshing, long-lasting....just lovely. I think all ages can wear this. The price tag fits the quality of this perfume. I'd recommend this to everyone BUT I want to be the only one wearing it :P

Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
rated 5 of 5
nightinggale07 12/14/2012 7:02:00 PM

This is the best mascara I've tried so far. The price is right (around $3). The packaging is a pretty standard affair. The formula is great! I don't like too wet or too dry formulas but this is a great middle ground. I have shrimpy little lashes that are naturally curly. This formula lengthens and volumizes without clumping and holds a curl. It dries quite stiff, which I don't personally mind because this mascara doesn't feel heavy when it dries either- which some stiffer ones tend to do. Usually, I get mascara seeping by the end of the day- not with this! It stays put and doesn't flake off. The only thing that I would dock this for is that the stopper inside doesn't scrape off any mascara...a ton of product comes out on the wand every time. I just wipe the excess off and move on. I didn't dock any points though because that is a minor flaw and I will still continue to repurchase this wonderful product again and again!

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue
rated 3 of 5

Nice clean smell. As others have said, the staying power is lacking. You can purchase a pretty close, much less expensive dupe of this at Victoria's Secret. Pink Fresh and Clean is almost exactly like this at a fraction of the cost.

Polishes -Nicole - Kardashian Kolor - Sealed With a Kris
rated 4 of 5
nightinggale07 12/7/2012 4:45:00 PM

I normally do not like streaky nail polishes- I like the formulas that go in opaque in one coat with no streaks. This nail polish is streaky. I had to put three coats of this on to get passed them. That being said, I LOVE this nail polish. It is a perfect, vampy, blood red color that I adore! I'm sure that it isn't too unique but I don't have anything quite like it. I find that using thin coats helps this nail polish go in the most evenly. The staying power is amazing 3 days with no chips/no topcoat. With a top coat (Seche Vite), it lasted 6 days with minimal chipping. I would definitly repurchase this nail polish again. It looks perfect against my skintone, is shiny and easy to work with- besides the streaks :P
