Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup

I absolutely love Revlon Colorstay and figured I would give this a try. It goes on very smooth but still offers great coverage (I have hyperpigmentation/acne scarring to cover) I bought Natural Beige and it blends perfectly with my skin... I usually have to buy a couple different shades and mix them to get the right concoction. I did not necessarily notice any shimmering effects, but I did notice the fact that it is much more lightweight than the above mentioned. The shimmer would have been nice, but it's not necessary for me. The pump feature was really what drew me in, I wish they would put these on the Colorstay product line! The only thing I did NOT like about it was the fact it rubs off on clothing whereas I've never had a problem with my Colorstay doing so. But all in all, I really do like it. Will definitely repurchase, it gives the lighter feel I want for summer but the look of the original colorstay.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Extra Volume Collagen Mascara Blackest Black
rated 4 of 5
nicholyse 11/17/2009 2:42:00 PM

I really like this mascara. While it's not the best of those I've tried, it is among the top 5. I enjoy the fact that I don't have to put on coats and coats to achieve the look I like for my lashes (although they are naturally long, they lack thickness the way they used to.) It also stays very soft and supple while giving me volume and length. I tried the non-waterproof of this mascara. Works great for me... I would buy it again.

Treatments -Aphogee - Two-Step Protein Treatment (formerly Treatment for Damaged Hair)
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 9/9/2008 1:03:00 PM

Well, let me describe my hair : Very curly and dry, not relaxed for 1.5 years but still have about 4-5 inches past the shoulders that are relaxed (and very damaged) only color now when I need to. I used this for the first time a few weeks ago and thought I would see what happened after the first few nights just to be sure. I concur with the other users that this is definitely the "Mother" of all treatments... I've tired most everything to help my hopeless hair. But this was amazing. I did do the treatment as described in Katdan's notepad, but I did start to have some breakage a few days later up until now. I definitely don't think it's a miracle product but by ALL MEANS, it has definitely helped my hair more than anything else, so if you have severely damaged hair, don't hesitate to try this. The only thing I did differently was I let air dry for a couple of hours and then rinsed, using a hair mayonnaise treatment for a conditioner after. I think where I went wrong was not letting the solution come completely out of my hair... next time I'm going to rinse for about 7 minutes to make sure I get all the protein out. Because of that last time, it left my hair VERY SOFT, but slightly gummy. I will still use this product and find the best way to use it. I would recommend this to anyone with damaged hair.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 3 of 5

Well I decided to try this since I've been on the lookout for another good mascara since Illegal Lengths was d/c'ed... yes, I'm always trying new ones and nothing compares. Anywhoo, this is a decent mascara. The color is nice and deep and it does give me adequate volume and length without looking too fakey. I do like the brush, it doesn't seem to irritate the lashline as much as some others I use. Overall, this is good for me... I do have very long and thick lashes already, so I'm not sure what it would be like for someone who is looking to really enhance.

Styling Products -Matrix - Vavoom Gold Heat Iron-In Volume (Fine/Medium hair)
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 9/8/2008 4:08:00 PM

This is definitely the most amazing heat protectant I've ever tried! I do have medium/coarse hair as a whole (the strand itself is a lot thinner than it used to be... a little strange) and it has a tendency to get weighed down quite a bit and be a little flatter than I like. this product I could actually apply from root to tip and not have to worry about it weighing the roots down. I sort of bend the iron over at the root to boost volume, but it's great either way. I do like the smell, very light perfume fragrance and it doesn't stay in the hair like a lot of products do.. It's so light that it usually just goes on dry and helps the iron or curling iron to just glide over the hair shaft without pulling or stopping in certain spots. So I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs something they know is going to protect the hair without leaving it with buildup they're going to have to wash out that night. I can use this over and over in a few days if I need to and can still go about a week without washing, it's amazing. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Mixed Chicks - Leave in Conditioner/ Styling Lotion
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 8/25/2008 4:03:00 AM

Wow! I'm amazed by this wonderful product... in all 22 years of my life, neither my mother nor myself had ever figured out a way to maintain my wildly curly hair (which used to be waist length and beautiful, until I got into the teen years and started dying and relaxing it.. bit mistake, I find now.) I recently did a protein treatment and got a trim to help maintain what length I have... I haven't relaxed in 1.5 years and don't plan to ever again. So needless to say I still have a good bit on the ends that will remain straight for a while until it's all cut. But this product still did a great job of defining my curls and making them bouncy and lively, very soft and beautiful without taking away all the length that I love. It DID NOT weigh the hair down at all or make it dry on the ends like I normally have issues with from other leave-ins. It was strange that I actually ENJOYED going out in public with my hair in an updo (to hide the ends) and didn't feel like I needed to hid under a hoodie. And this was on day 2... this has NEVER happened to me in my adult life, or as far as I know, when I was younger either. It does have a pleasant smell... not the best smelling stuff I've ever used, but I'm not using it for that obviously. It did distribute evenly when applied as directed (use on sopping wet hair in sections, then combine.) At first I thought I applied a bit too much, but when it dried it ended up just adding a bit more softness to the hair. I will say during the drying process (which took about 4 hours) it did feel very crunchy. I scrunched a couple times throughout drying and it ended up breaking up some of that feeling without making it frizzy and dry looking. This is definitely a winning combination with the shampoo and deep conditioner. I've never tried anything like it and I am glad I finally found a simple solution to my lifelong problem. I'm looking forward to enjoying my curly hair now instead of hiding it and being ashamed of it's out of control texture. If you're having any doubts or reservations, go to mixedchicks.net and order a sample or two. I promise, if you're anything like me, you will not be disappointed. From someone who's tried most every product out there... you'll love it.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush in Blutopia
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 3/8/2008 9:52:00 PM

This is a beautiful shade... it makes me feel so beachy and pretty when I wear it. I always get compliments when I pair it with Glow Nude and After Midnight. It doesn't crease or even fade over the day... it does blend a little by the end of the day, which is a little strange. However, it looks really really good because it doesn't look like I've been up for a day like most of my eyeshadows do at the end of a work day. I will definitely be buying many more bottles of this.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow in Glow Nude
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 3/8/2008 9:41:00 PM

Very pretty nude color... on my darker skin, it really highlights the brow bone and compliments just about any color I use on my eyes. I really should have bought one or two more when I got this, but I didn't know I would like it so much! Very easy to blend and never creases... I get so many compliments when I pair this with Blutopia and After Midnight! Someone told me I looked airbrushed because everything was so flawless... and it was all in the eyes.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow in Jet Set

This is a pretty dusty metal shade with a bit of shimmer.... I'm still working on the whole blending thing with this shade, but it is quite pretty and I would buy it again when I run out.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminious Shadow in Copper Feel
rated 3 of 5
nicholyse 3/8/2008 9:34:00 PM

Not a big fan of the color... like the rest, it's no creasing or fading, which is a plus, but even with the other neutral shades, I have a hard time creating a cohesive look with this one. It is pretty in the bottle, but perhaps my skin is a little too dark for it.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminious Shadow in Gold School
rated 5 of 5

This is a very pretty shade of gold... high shimmer and will not crease. It's very easy to blend with other shades from the line to make a fabulous eye effect. I will definitely buy again when I run out.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow - Emerald City

I've been working at VS for a year now and just a week ago finally decided to buy and try these at home.... woah! I've been missing out. This is a beautiful shade... I used with Gold School and Money, Baby to create a beautiful graduated eye. And the shades do not crease... the only down side that I can see is that they do tend to fall from the brush quite a bit, but I try to knock the loose excess powder back in to the bottle and use a business card or some paper under my lower lid while applying so it doesn't smear on my face... you can't dust this stuff off because it's so pigmented. Give it a shot!

Styling Products -Matrix - Vavoom Height Of Glam Volumizing Mousse
rated 4 of 5
nicholyse 2/25/2008 12:05:00 AM

Welll... I don't know what to think about this product. I bought it based on the reviews that I found here and while I definitely understand that this does volumize (very well, I'll add) but it's not the best product I've used. Here's my backstory: I have very curly hair (I'm multiracial, so you can imagine) My hair was extremely thick when I was young, I had to have it thinned every time it was cut. Now because of processing (relaxing, coloring, bleaching at times) it has thinned considerably. Therefore, I've recently had to search for some good volumizing products. So far I had been very pleased with Sheer Volume mousse from Pantene Pro-V because: -It left my hair light and feeling weightless. -Gave good volume. -No tacky afterfeel. Recently trying this product, I did find that I liked: -It gave substantial volume. I DID NOT like the fact that: -It came out of the bottle too soupy and took a while to fluff up. -It left my hair (even after drying) with a brittle, tacky feel. -My hair felt coated with a too much product, even though I used only a small amount. -My ends were somewhat dry afterward. This product may be wonderful for thin/fine hair, but I don't know if I will use it again. I may even have to return this bottle. If you want to see pics of before and after, check out my pictures. The "before" has what it looks like usually straightened and thinning at front/crown. Good luck to those of you who do try it!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush body double mist - Grapefruit Blast
rated 5 of 5
nicholyse 1/26/2008 1:42:00 AM

I'll have to say... I don't like grapefruit AT ALL, but this won me over. It has a nice moisturizing layer in it that I believe diffuses the tartness just enough... it has a smooth, creamy finish that makes me crave dessert. Not in a bad way. The only problem I've ever had with any of the body double mists is the packaging is the absolute worst I've seen from VS. It's extremely cheap looking, and obviously IS cheap. I've still got a full bottle in my bathroom but can't use it because the spray pump got stuck and no longer sprays... very disappointing.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - More Pink Please
rated 3 of 5
nicholyse 1/26/2008 1:32:00 AM

This definitely smells better than the original Pink fragrance, which is just too much of a detergent scent for me. I like the musky flavor to this one.... it's a lot different than most of the VS line of fragrances. I would recommend it.
