Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Fruit Spritzers Gloss- all colors
rated 3 of 5

Blackberry Splash Cons - tube applicator is a bit messy and not easily applied without a mirror. Smell - this one is a caramel/overly sweet smell. I prefer MAC's vanilla scented gloss by comparison. Finally it doesn't wear for very long before the colour fades. That said... Pros- lovely plummy colour, incredibly moisturizing even after the gloss appears to have worn off you can feel it moisturizing your lips. Most glosses (including MAC alas) dry my lips so badly I am peeling off flakes of skin by the following day. Not so with this product. Inexpensive and moisturizing so I will repurchase despite the smell and lack of pigment.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Preparation H
rated 5 of 5

Another HG product. The Prep H gel (Canadian version) goes with me everywhere. It is especially useful for travel. What does it do? Reduces puffy eyes, Decreases redness and pain with pimples Reduces the sting of a sunburn Numbs the sting and itchiness from insect bites. The primary ingredient in the gel version is Witchhazel which has long been used as a remedy for all of the above conditions. The only thing I would change about this product is the ugly packaging and unfortunate association with its primary purpose! That said, I'll suffer through given the low cost of this panacea for almost everything.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase Paste #2 Medium
rated 5 of 5
nic 1/6/2012 8:59:00 PM

Given that I am on my second jar and am a bit of an addict for eye concealers, Erase Paste has become my HG eye product. The one thing I would not leave the house before applying. It's creamy and smooth, easy to apply with the MAC concealer brush. Once on it stays put. I had been using Bo-ing but found the consistency too thick. Erase Paste is a creamier, lighter formula that seems to cover more. I also use Erase Paste to reduce the emerging marionette lines along side my mouth to conceal spots, sun spots and broken capillaries. While it is pricier than other concealers I have used, this does last me two years so it is well worth it.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - limitless eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
nic 1/6/2012 8:49:00 PM

Beyond impressed... Picked up Limitless eyeliner in Indigo and Violet and love both colours. It doesn't go on as smoothly/softly as I would like, so I gave the liner a quick blast from my hair dryer to soften it a bit before applying and it went on more easily. Once it was on, I found it wore well, didn't smudge or flake off. I use eyecream and sunscreen which often causes my eye makeup to smear. However this lasted all day and through a nap, and still looked fresh by the time I was ready to remove it. It comes off with Spectro Gel and I also removed the remaining residue with the Body Shop's Camomile Eye Makeup Remover. I have yet to sharpen it so will update once I have attempted that.

Treatments (Eye) -The Body Shop - Fragrance-Free Elderflower Eye Gel
rated 5 of 5
nic 7/22/2011 8:05:00 AM

Love this product. However - one thing to note, other reviewers here have said it doesn't moisturize their eye area. This is not the intent of the product. It's best used in combination with a moisturizer as a sealant. I have always had problems with dark circles, bags and puffiness, so have tried many products from expensive to less so. I tried this product grudgingly when the Body Shop discontinued the cream I'd always used. I am so glad I did! While it doesn't do anything for dark circles, it does reduce puffiness and bags - which actually makes the dark circles less obvious. As another reviewer has mentioned, I use it at night over a moisturizer to seal that product in. I do notice a difference in the morning. I keep it in the fridge and then reapply first thing in the morning before applying make up. I will use this product for as long as the Body Shop sells it.

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - POWDER'ful Volumizing Styling Powder
rated 5 of 5
nic 7/7/2011 9:12:00 PM

Love Love Love A boost of volume for my fine hair and texture at the same time. It does feel as though you have product in your hair, but it works, and is pliable for re-styling throughout the day. It is also buildable without residue or flaking. SDM had a half price sale ($4) so I stocked up! Just LOVE this stuff. Oh and I actually like it better than the Aveeda product at $32 for less product!

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Life Brand - Sunthera 3 Sunless and Firm Sunless Self Tanning Skin Firming Lotion
rated 2 of 5
nic 6/25/2011 8:48:00 AM

This is a review both for the cream version and the tinted version. Although the tinted version gives you immediate colour and is easy to apply because the tint tells you if you have missed a spot, I do not like how sticky it feels, or how it seems to settle on your skin. Your skin doesn't actually seem to absorb it, so instead it actually is like a layer of colour over your skin. This would be fine, except that when it begins to wear off it does so in small patches so make you look like you have a skin disorder. On the other hand, the cream version of this develops over a few days with daily application (much like Jergen's glow) and is WONDERFUL. It doesn't streak, it eventually just fades once you stop reapplying. Like a body lotion, your skin absorbs it so it isn't sticky. There is no irritating smell afterward and best of all the colour is unbelievable! Not even a hint of orange. It looks like the real thing! I've had numerous people comment on how much sun I've had! I've tried many many sunless tanners this by far is the best - and it is cheap! Will repurchase till Shopper's is out of stock! EDIT and Update - this does not wear off smoothly at all. It is patchy and dirty looking regardless of the gel or cream. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

Eye Shadow -Sephora - Caroline's Pride 33
rated 5 of 5
nic 4/16/2011 10:47:00 AM

I LOVE this shade. My eyes change from blue, to grey, to green, depending on what I am wearing, etc. Caroline's Pride make brings out the green in the most astounding way.It also makes the whites brighter. My eyes just pop with this shade. However, like the other reviewer has noted you do have to be careful if you have undereye circles - which I do. I apply the shadow first with the QUO eye smudger brush to get it as close to the lashline as possible. Remove any excess with a q-tip and makeup remover, and finally apply my under-eye concealer. And POW - eyes that stop you in your tracks.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Eggplant
rated 5 of 5
nic 9/13/2009 7:51:00 PM

Love it. A gorgeous purple shade, relatively easy to apply, although you need a couple of coats to get the intense colour. Depending on you skill with applying a cream liner, you can vary the thickness of the line. That said, I used my Quo eyebrow brush and found this worked much better than the one supplied in the package. Conversely, the Wet and Wild brush worked better on my brows due to the stiffer bristles. The other thing I really love about this liner is it stays put and lasts all day and all evening - basically until you are ready to remove it. I had used the MAC cream eyeliner and found it flaked all over my undereye area and did not stand up to more and an hour or so of wear. The Wet and Wild is definitely the better of the two - in every way.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick- Wine Not
rated 2 of 5
nic 9/13/2009 7:44:00 PM

loved the colour in the tube... love the other colours in the Revlon line, and am happy with the texture of this matte lipstick. However, the colour was just too dark. As others have mentioned here, it borders on goth.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Fabulous Fig
rated 5 of 5
nic 9/13/2009 7:40:00 PM

This is so lovely. The colour isn't particularly striking in the tube but wonderful on. As the other reviewers have said it is a muted red/brown - not too dark or is it too screaming red - perfect for day time. Subtle. I also found it made my complexion look rosier when I put it on.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick Really Red
rated 5 of 5
nic 9/13/2009 7:27:00 PM

love love love. Initially bought In the Red thinking it would suit me better... but found it too brown especially as the day wore on. I'd shied away from Really Red because the colour looked too bright and too orange-based. But, it is absolutely gorgeous on. A true old-fashioned, pin-up girl red. Looks completely matte but doesn't feel dry at all. Would repurchase.

Blush -Chanel - Irreelle Blush in Utopia
rated 4 of 5
nic 1/9/2009 1:26:00 PM

ADORE this blush. I have never really thought much of blush before a friend gave me Chanel Utopia and I am now a convert. Like the other reviewers have mentioned the colour as it appears in the compact can be rather off-putting. But... once it is on it looks like a natural flush - just like glowing healthy skin. It works especially well if you haven't slept well or are fighting a cold. Makes you look healthy even if you aren't feeling 100 per cent. Two brush strokes and this powder product lasts all day/night, longer than Nars Multiple Orgasm (cream), Benefit Posy (stain), or Tarte Flush (gel). The two downsides are the price and the rumour that it is discontinued. This would be the only blush I would purchase again.

Mascara -Rimmel - Magnif'Eyes Eye Opening Waterproof
rated 1 of 5
nic 12/28/2008 1:29:00 PM

The worst. Really adore Rimmel's Eye Magnifier mascara and since it is my HG thought I'd try out the waterproof version. It applies like water and remains wet no matter how long you wait. Transfers all over your undereye and upper eye lid area every time you blink, and only upon contact with skin does the stuff seem to dry. Which makes it a pain to remove. Not sure how this product ever made it past the lab.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Shea Butter Skin Enriching Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
nic 12/28/2008 1:25:00 PM

Love this lotion. I live in the mountains of Mexico where it is unbelievably dry. To combat scaly skin, I've tried everything but this is the best lotion I have found. The scent as other reviewer have mentioned is lovely and light, sweet without being cloying and skin really does feel softer for hours after using it. In fact, other people have begun to comment on my skin since I have started using it. One tip - for the best results apply the lotion to your body directly after getting out of the shower - without drying off first. It sounds strange but it really works. Dermatologist told me this.
