I really wanted this foundation to work for me. I have 57 year old skin in decent condition. It is fair and I would say combination skin - tad bit oily on my nose and the rest can tend to be a little dry - especially in the winter. Pros: love the lightweight feel with so much pigment. Love the great coverage ( medium to full) - looks flawless and matte. There is no natural glow with this finish but I don't find it heavy at all. Seems to be long wearing on me - not all day long but decent requiring a midday powder. Also in the fair skin color, I've found the .5 to be a very good match. Cons: very drying. This foundation will find dry patches that I don't even know I have and accentuate them. I exfoliate and most other foundations don't tend to show dry skin more or suck the moisture from my skin like this one does. I've tried different moisturizers and primers but this foundation is still way too drying. Can't use it daily cause within 3 straight days of use, my face is a dry patchy mess and it will take another 3-4 days to get it back to normal. I'm going to keep it and use it for special occasions when I want more full coverage but won't purchase again.

Liquid -Stila - Perfect & Correct Foundation
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 5/10/2013 6:39:00 AM

I have 57 year old skin in decent shape. I have an oily T Zone with some dry patches as well. So it's really hard to get a foundation that will hold up on my nose but not suck the moisture from the rest of my face. My initial impressions of this foundation are very good. The consistency is mousse like and blends nicely with a beauty blender sponge. The coverage is light and basically diffuses any imperfections but won't really cover them up. The finish is nice but not better than most of the other foundations I've tried. However, the finish is probably one of the most natural I've ever used. The color selection is limited and I have fair skin with pink undertones. The fair color in the Stila definitely leans toward the warm range. It's not so yellow that it looks bad on me but I would prefer a more true fair coloring. My all time favorite foundation is Cle De Peau which does provide a flawless, beautiful finish that just feels good. It would be my holy grail if it just held up through the full work day. So although this foundation is nice and I initially rated as a 4, I will update this review to 5 if it just holds up well through the work day or at least most of it. Update: I'm liking this foundation even more. I think it may be the closest I'll ever get to holy grail. I have tried dozens of foundations and this is the only one that gives a truly natural looking finish that stays on the face all day and doesn't bring out dry patches. Seriously most foundations for me look nice but by mid day they are just gone from my T zone and the rest of my face is a dry patchy mess. With most other foundations this dryness happens on day one and gets worse as I use it more. When I get a foundation texture and color that I really love (like the Cle De Peau), I'll try all kinds of under prepping that might make the foundation hold up better but I find that usually doesn't work and its the actual foundation that sucks the moisture from my skin. Did I have to do a quick blot and powder midday? Yes, but the foundation was still there in place on my nose and the best thing of all - no dry patches on the rest of my face! Very happy I found this foundation! If you are

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 5/3/2013 5:07:00 AM

Love, love, love this cream! I have dry skin from time to time with recently some eczema patches on my legs and really dry, scaly skin on my upper arms. I tried this cream based on reviews and couldn't be happier. The awful scaly skin on my arms was totally normal in 3 days and 6 applications. The eczema came under control and almost totally gone in a week. The cream does dry to a matte finish fairly quickly which is actually a bonus. Some other creams leave the skin greasy and leave stains on clothes. Usually I'm just focused on getting the results but this one hits all the marks - great results and great feel. I also tried both the facial cream with sunscreen and the hand cream. I like the face cream - good moisture, dries quickly and decent sun protection. On the other hand (pardon the pun), I hate the hand cream. Just don't like the feel of it.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush Pink Swoon
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/27/2013 4:14:00 PM

I purchased quite a few blushes recently from Nars, Bobbi Brown and this Pink Swoon from MAC. this one is my favorite. I have fair skin with pink undertones and this one is just the the right natural flush. Not too bright but subtle and buildable if you need more color. The only negative is the packaging which is very plain. I like the case of the Nars blushes much better. But the package of the MAC blush won't keep me from buying it again.

Pressed Powders -Cle de Peau - Poudre Transparente
rated 4 of 5
nhwhazup 4/25/2013 5:44:00 AM

For setting powder, I love the Ben Nye loose powder in fair. It sets my foundation and gives a perfect and flawless matte finish. BN doesn't make a pressed powder so I've been on the search for a blotting powder to use during the day. I've been using the CDP pressed powder for a week and not really loving it. The color is a translucent neutral shade which is fine. I have a problem with either yellow or ashy looking powders that ruin a finish instead of sprucing it up. So while the color is fine, the powder doesn't really help with blotting the T-zone nor does it brighten up or even settle nice on the skin. I'll keep it as I haven't found anything else better at this point but will keep searching for a HG pressed powder. I'll also keep some of my Ben Nye loose powder in a small pill bag to use when I need a really good touch up. Update: gave this an extra lippie. This is actually a really nice pressed powder for me. I've been using it all week and liking it better the more I use it.

Crème -Cle de Peau - Cream compact foundation
rated 2 of 5
nhwhazup 4/25/2013 5:31:00 AM

I have been using the Cle De Peau Cream foundation in the tube and love it. However, I do need to touch up mid way through the work day. So I purchased the cream compact for that reason. For this option, you need to order the refill and case separately and then also purchase the sponge. Quite ridiculous for the absurdly high price. Beyond the irritation of the packaging and multiple purchasing above, I could have been satisfied providing the makeup was as nice as the cream in the tube. Not the case. This compact cream is awful. It is thick and no matter how I played with it (fingers, brush beauty blender), I could not produce a natural looking finish. Even the same color number as my tube cream doesn't match. I returned this and will pick up an extra tube of the cream to carry in my purse.

Loose Powders -Cle de Peau - Loose Powder
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/21/2013 7:50:00 AM

I got this loose powder as a sample when asking about the CDP pressed powder. The SA said they basically give the same effect. I'm hoping the pressed powder will be the same finish as the loose but in a travel friendly package. I really like this loose powder - like the slight pink which keeps the powder from looking too yellow or too ashy as the neutral beige powders tend to on me. The coloring is translucent with just that slight pink which just gives a brightness to my face. It also has very subtle sparkle but so subtle that it really doesn't show unless you are specifically looking for it and looking very closely. Usually I hate the sparkle but this one does it right. The feel of this powder is divine - very finely milled with a so soft finish on the face. Really very soft look and feel and doesn't settle into lines or pores. My daily at home loose powder is Ben Nye in fair which is do cheap and works nicely. It might be a few years before I run out of the BN. But when I do, this CDP will be my replacement. I just hope the CDP pressed powder I ordered is as good as the loose powder.

Powders -Guerlain - Meteorites powder for the face in Mythic 01
rated 2 of 5
nhwhazup 4/20/2013 4:42:00 PM

This review is for the pressed powder version of this powder. First of all the compact is beautiful albeit very heavy. I really wanted to like this powder but it did nothing for me. It didn't control oiliness on my T-zone, nor did compliment the finish of my foundation. For me it made my face have a glow but looked greasy instead of healthy. The other thing I didn't like was the smell. Others like it, but I prefer fragrance free cosmetics and this one really bothered my eyes. I won't be purchasing again. Very disappointed.

Liquid -Cle de Peau - Refining Fluid Foundation SPF 24
rated 2 of 5
nhwhazup 4/20/2013 4:31:00 PM

The SA at Saks recommended this foundation for me and put it on me in the store. Unfortunately for me, the only good thing about ths foundation was the color match. The I01 matched my fair with pink undertones coloring. Nothing else about this worked for me. The coverage was medium and emphasized lines and pores but didn't really cover up anything. Nor did it look very natural on me. It definitely left a glowy finish but it also felt sticky on my skin and stayed that way. Also I didn't like the sparkle in the foundation. It was subtle but still noticeable. Thankfully I went back to Saks and had the SA switch out this foundation for the creme foundation. So glad cause the cream (not silky cream) is just perfect for me. Gives a totally flawless semi matte finish without the glitter, glow or stickiness. This may work nicely for some but was awful for me.

Crème -Cle de Peau - Cream Foundation
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/17/2013 6:17:00 PM

This review is for the Creme Foundation in the tube with SPF 26 This foundation is truly holy grail status for me. I've been searching for a medium coverage, matte finish that stays all day but doesn't suck the moisture from my face and cause dry patches. I've tried a number of foundations from drug store brands to high end department stores brands. I get close with a good color match, but then the finish isn't quite right. Or I can find a nice finish but the color doesn't appear natural on me. I have fair 50 something year old skin with pink undertones and the beauty specialist put me in the I01 shade. This shade is perfect for my NW15 coloring. So while that is just one piece of the puzzle so to speak, it is one of the most important in my book. The finish with this foundation is what sets it apart from the other brands. Just soft and a truly flawless finish that does last all day. I do have to powder my nose mid-day but otherwise still looks great and doesn't dry out my skin. This foundation is very pricey but so worth it to finally be finished with the search. Update: been using this for a couple of weeks and still loving it. The color match is the best I've ever had and the finish is like no makeup at all but just flawless skin. I do have to powder my nose a couple of times a day. It's worth it to have such a great natural finish. I've tried many matte long wearing foundations to try to get longer times between blotting. Interestingly enough, they really don't last much longer than this foundation. And the finish of those other foundations doesn't even come close to the CDP.

Blush -Cle de Peau - Cheek Color Duo
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/14/2013 7:02:00 AM

I've been on the hunt for the perfect blush for me. I have 57 year old fair skin with pink undertones. I've tried so many pinks and while many of them give off a nice blush of color, This one is truly natural looking. It's the only blush that I've found requires no constant blending to get it right. It's my go to blush and I'll use my others when I need more of a pop.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pastel Pink powder blush
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/6/2013 8:14:00 AM

I purchased this on line with a recommendation from the chat line. I have pale NW15 skin with although I really like the Bobbi Brown pale pink, I wanted another blush that is not quite so bright. I like the pale pink but have to be so careful not to overdo. This Pastel Pink is similar to the Pale Pink in that it has cool undertones. Very wearable for those with fair skin tone. I can just brush some on and blend - then good to go - no fussing or being concerned it might be too bright. Very natural and will be my go to blush for daily wear.

Foundations -Giorgio Armani - Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 4/6/2013 6:26:00 AM

Love, love, love this foundation! I have 57 year old pale skin and have been searching for a light feeling foundation with good staying power that doesn't dry out the skin during the work day. For my pale cool toned skin, it's difficult to find the right color. If the foundation is too yellow, my skin takes on a sallow tone. If it is too beige, can make my skin take on a muddy hue. I use the #1 right now but also have the #2 for the summer months. I believe this foundation is very neutral and for me works very well coloring wise. Now about the finish - just perfect. I use a primer underneath and use a beauty blender to apply. The finish appears air brushed but is so comfortable. I do need to blot and powder my nose midday but otherwise it looks the same at the end of the day as the beginning. I've tried so many foundations that I've lost count. This one is it for me. I'm definitely going to purchase a tube or too for back up and for my daughters who I think might like it as much as I do. The tube is great but if I could offer one suggestion to make it even better - would be to have a flip top instead of screw off. If you are looking for light weight flawless coverage - try this foundation - you won't be disappointed. Update: Initially loved this foundation. However, after a few days of wear, I started getting dry patches. I exfoliate and moisturize well and use a primer. Once I switched from this back to my old brand the dry patches went away. I'm not going to change my rating on this foundation as I think the feel and light coverage is awesome - just doesn't work for me. So if you have sensitive, combination skin, this might not work for you. Get samples first.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
rated 3 of 5
nhwhazup 4/5/2013 5:36:00 AM

I really wanted to like this foundation. I've been on the search for a medium coverage but light weight foundation that holds up throughout the work day. I was hoping this was it. I have fair, combination skin. As I age I find that first of all, it is so important to get a good color match. With this foundation I can get fairly close so that wasn't my problem. What really bugs me about this foundation is that it sucks the moisture from my skin and I end up with dry patches by the afternoon. I start out out with moisturizer and primer for a smooth canvas. The foundation initially looks great but appears to start drying out my face by midday and then patchy by the afternoon. This foundation might work great for those that need heavy duty oil control, but it's way too drying for my skin.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 5 of 5
nhwhazup 3/27/2013 7:57:00 PM

Love, love, love this foundation. I have tried so many foundations that I've lost count. I found MUFE HD a couple of years ago but every now and again I stray only to end up back to MUFE. I have 57 year old skin with visible pores and some light discoloration. When you get older it is so important to get the foundation right. I find that I need a foundation that gives an airbrushed medium coverage, lasts through the day but doesn't look heavy, dry out my skin, cake or settle into pores or wrinkles. Not much to ask for, right? Additionally, more mature skin has to have a spot-on color match. I'm very fair with pink undertones. If a foundation is at all yellow toned, it so clashes with my coloring and makes it look sallow. If the foundation is too beige, it tends to make my face take on a ashy cast or look dirty. So getting the right color is very difficult for me. What I really love about this foundation is that it is the only foundation I have found that matches my coloring. 115 is a perfect match. I also use primer underneath and then mix just a tiny bit of primer with the MUFE before smoothing it on with a beauty blender. This method gives me the best finish. Then I do a light powder of Ben Nye in fair. This looks very natural and lasts nicely through the day. I do get some oil break through on my nose and usually blot midday. The rest pretty much stays put. So after my straying to try some other brands, I am thankful to come home to MUFE.
