BB Cream -Too Faced - Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup
newman 11/18/2012 10:29:00 PM
I just ran out of my Tarte TM (which I love) but wanted to try something new. The Too Faced BB Cream looked good. I am glad I received a sample from Sephora. I prefer to try before I buy. I got it in Vanilla Glow, the colour actually looks lighter than Agent 00 in Tarte TM. Unfortunately, Vanilla Glow is totally off for me. It looks much too dark and weird on me. That's why I have given it only 3 lippies. If there would be a lighter colour, I think this would be amazing! Spreads well and feels like you are wearing nothing. The tube is cute and hygenic. For reference, I am NW15-20.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface
newman 10/19/2012 11:01:00 PM
I totally love this blush! It's very pigmented and a light swipe is enough. The colour is very pretty, a nice pink, it is not chalky, and it looks very natural on me (NW15). It makes me look healthy. I would say it lasts 10 hours. It was expensive at $33 but then again it will last a looong time. The packaging is fine.

Sunscreen -Coppertone - Coppertone Water Babies Pure and Simple, Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50
newman 7/8/2012 11:45:00 PM
There is no perfect sunscreen out there yet, either it is too white, too oily, or it has alcohol in it! That's why my rating for this one s still a 5. I have been using Coppertone Water Babies Pure and Simple for 2 years. I first saw it in the US and when I read the ingredient list, I bought it. This sunscreen protects really well and is cheap. I also use it on my face (mostly on weekends when I'm out all day). When you apply it, it leaves your face really white - I always apply a generous amount - and you can only hope that nobody rings the doorbell. The trick is that you must give it time to absorb, this takes about 30 min. All sunscreens should be applied 30 min prior to going outside. Once it is absorbed, I dust a bit of Physicians Formula Healthy Skin SPF 50 powder on my face and I am good to go. I will purchase this forever or until a miracle physical sunscreen comes out that takes 1 minute to absorb . Coppertone, you should make this product available in Canada!

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
newman 7/2/2012 11:37:00 PM
I just ran out of my Tarte Smooth Operator which I truly love. When I went to Walmart, I saw this andI got it (for $8.95) because I was curious to try a BB cream. It is more like a tinted moisturizer but I really like it. I don't find it runny and thin, but rather thick. I dot it on my cheeks and forehead and blend with my Eco Tools foundation brush. Voila, my skin is evened out and looks good. I still use a bit of concealer under the eyes but that's it. I got the shade 'light' . For reference I am NW 15-20. Great job Maybelline (I never tried you before). EDIT: Just wanted to point out that I wear sunscreen before applying this. I am not sure about the SPF 30 claim in this product.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios SPF 45 PPD 20 High Protection Spray (Canada).

I wanted to get Coppertone Waterbabies Pure & Simple SPF 50 but couldn't find it where I live. Instead, I bought the LRP Dry-Touch Spray for sensitive skin. It costs $30 at LD but I had a $5 coupon. It's a 200 ml bottle. The spray is fragance and paraben free and very runny. I have taken 1 lippie off because it does contain alcohol. Dries quickly and does not leave a white cast. I used this on my face and neck every day for 5 weeks while on vacation in Asia. I was out every day, sightseeing, swimming, and horseback riding. It protected me well. No freckles or dark spots - I got maybe one shade darker (NW15). I applied it very generously, let it dry and put PF Healthy Skin Powder SPF 50 over it because my face was shiny after using the sunscreen (maybe because I applied a lot). Despite the high humidity it stayed on. This spray is for moderate protection (just read the label on the bottle) but it provided high protection For the body I used up a huge bottle of Coppertone Waterbabies SPF 60. I would not recommend this. I actually have a bit of a tan on my arms and legs.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting Concentrated Serum, Night
newman 6/24/2010 11:24:00 PM
meh... I have been using this nightly for the last 3 months and have not seen any of the results this product promises. It did not fade freckles (aka age spots) at all nor did it even out my skin. This is a thick serum that requires at least a dime size to spread over your face and neck. It reminds me of the 'Visibly Even' cream that I tried years ago, also with no results. I am glad I finished the tube as my face feels a bit itchy now after using this for so long. I give it 1 lippie for the packaging and 1 lippie because even though the tube is small, it does last 3 months. I would not recommend this product at all, it's a waste of money! I have now bought DermaMed Baby Healing Cream to get rid of the itchiness.

Blush -Rimmel - Pink Sugar
newman 3/16/2010 10:56:00 PM
I am obsessed with my MAC Pink Swoon but Pink Sugar is becoming it's competitor. This is a great blush! I was just looking around in SDM, when this caught my eye. I got it for $6.49. The colour is very pretty, a soft dusty pink with just a tiny bit of shimmer that you can barely detect . This is really a great product at a great price! I like the tiny pan but I do not use the brush that comes with it. Just my Ecotools blush brush. The staying power of this blush is good. I apply it very lightly and It gives me a nice flush. I wish there were more choices for RIMMEL blushes, I would love to try different colours and I have looked around (LD, Walmart, Superstore - they did not even have 'Pink Sugar') but you can only find 'Sienna' and some bronzers here in Vancouver.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Moisture
newman 2/15/2010 10:23:00 PM
I have been using this cream for 3 months at night time (I'm using the night formula). I really like it. It goes on smoothly and absorbs very well. I believe it actually does fight wrinkles, it has diminished my forehead lines and my skin looks more even though I do not think that it has made a big difference to my age spots, they look like frekles anyway, so I'm not that concerned about them. They are just a tiny bit lighter. The old Neutrogena "Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle" cream worked better for that. A pea size is enough to spread all over your face. Don't forget to wear sunscreen during the day! I still have a fair amount of the cream left but have already bought the "tone corrector". I will try that one out once I have finished the "Deep Wrinkle Moisture".

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush (all shades)
newman 1/11/2010 11:58:00 PM
I bought this in Pink Swoon. I just love the colour, looks beautiful and not artificial when applied. It's a very fine milled powder, very satiny but no shimmer at all. In the pan it looks very bright but on my cheeks it turns a lovely pink, looks like you just came in from a run. Very natural. I think this colour would suit most skin tones, fair to medium. For reference, I'm a NW20. By the way, this is the fourth time I have bought it. Lasts about a good year. I also like the container, I think it's very practical. Give this blush a try, you'll love it!

Hair -Klorane - Camomile extract shampoo
newman 11/14/2009 11:29:00 PM
I have been using this shampoo on and off for years. It comes in a pretty and practical bottle. This shampoo smells really nice, it has a light natural camomile smell. I put less than a dime size in my palm, add a bit of water and then lather it up in my hands and distribute it in my hair. The shampoo has a creamy consistency and lathers really well so a bottle will last you a very long time. I do not need a conditioner after this. The shampoo leaves my hair shiny and gives me highlights. I have natural dark blond hair and do not colour it. I believe that it is gentle enough to use every day although I use it every other day. I have also tried the citron pulp and the oat milk shampoo from Klorane and like those, too. I highly recommend the Camomile one if you have blond or light brown hair.

Shampoo -Desert Essence - Organics Green Apple & Ginger Thickening & Volumizing Shampoo
newman 7/26/2009 10:45:00 PM
I bought this shampoo because it is organic and sulfate free and because it got good reviews on MUA. It does make my superfine hair fuller but the second day my hair is greasier than usual. After shampooing, it leaves my hair dry and causes 'flyaways'. You do not have to use conditioner with this shampoo, the comb will just glide through your hair. I will continue to use this shampoo for a few more times to see if I get over the adjustment period but if there is no improvement, I will return to my usual shampoo from France. EDIT: Unfortunately, this shampoo isn't right for me. I used it up to clean my hairbrush & combs. Back to Klorane...
