Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara

I hate to bash on products that so many people seem to love, but I seem to end up in that position sometimes, like with this mascara and colorstay liquid foundation. I tried this out because of its great reviews and because I had heard good things about it, but it just didn't work for me. Was a drier formula than I preferred, didn't build well on my lashes, and got clumpy and unnatural looking fast. I tried applying it a few ways, but I have other mascaras that work much better for me than this, so it's not worth having to really try to make this one work. All in all, just not amazing for me.

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach

To sum things up about this blush: Love the color, so pretty and natural looking. Gives me a nice peachy glow that I love without any shimmer or sparkle, which I'm not usually a fan of in blushes. Its got that weird CoverGirl smell if you really smell it, but its not noticeable when applied. The packaging is pretty cheap, but not horrible, functional and a nice small size to carry with you. And the price is good, not a super cheap wet n wild, but still cheap for average drugstore products. Will repurchase

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup

This is currently my favorite foundation, but to be honest my foundation changes very often as I'm always on the lookout for even better ones! I'm loving this for now though! It's a bit pricey for a drugstore foundation, but it's still well below high-end prices, and its the only drugstore foundation I'm willing to pay this much for. I'm usually a fan of liquids, but tried this on a whim when it first came out, and I was amazed by how well it worked for me. The shades in this cream foundation match my skin so much better than the normal Revlon Colorstay Liquid, which I'm not a huge fan of, despite the many people who swear by it. Sand Beige matches my summer skin well, while Buff matches my pale winter skin. This foundation blends into skin amazingly, and I'd say the finish itself is very skin like. It has medium buildable coverage, not as much as the Colorstay liquid, but I find it a much nicer foundation. I still have to use concealer, but that's normal for me with any foundation because of my acne issues, scarring, dark circles, etc. This foundation looks very natural on when i apply with a stippling brush, and photographs well also. It can also be applied and carefully blended with fingers when I want heavier coverage. I'll probably be using this for a long time.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One

This is currently my favorite mascara. I love it. It's buildable without becoming clumpy, really does separate lashes, and definitely adds volume. I find it very easy to work with, even when applying several coats, and it makes my lashes look amazing! I have several mascaras currently, and have tried many before, but this is definitely my go to!

Liquid -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I usually don't do reviews on products when I haven't tried them for very long, but this foundation deserves a review right away! I'll probably update later. Anyway, Rimmel Lasting Finish used to be my drugstore HG foundation because of its good coverage, blendability, and staying power. From what I've seen of this foundation so far, it's even better! Almay's clear complexion makeup has a much better shade range for fair skinned girls like me, so I was able to find a much better match for my pale winter skin. Right now I'm using Naked 300, and it blends into my skin so well. The undertone is perfect. The coverage of this foundation is medium but definitely buildable. You can also sheer it out by mixing with moisturizer or applying with a damp sponge. It dries a little more quickly, which is nice, because Im not waiting around for my damp foundation to dry before doing my other makeup. It doesn't dry nearly as quickly as Revlon Colorstay though, and seems much more blendable, making for a much easier application without the streaks and blotches that happen so often with Colorstay (which also never matched my skintone). It doesn't feel nearly as heavy as most foundations I've used, and leaves my skin looking matte and perfect. It seems to control oil very well, and has salicylic acid in it, which is a plus for my acne prone skin. As long as this makeup keeps working as well as it seems to be, it's my new favorite foundation! UPDATE: This is still a good foundation, but i think it can look a bit heavy. Im always on the lookout for even better foundations, so I no longer use this regularly.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 3 of 5

Because of all the great things I've heard about this foundation, i really wanted to love it. For so many people, it's their HG foundation, and it seemed like it would be amazing for my skin. I'm always looking for a liquid foundation with good coverage, staying power, and one that doesnt make my skin super oily. Colorstay pretty much did all of that, the sad part was, i could not find a single shade that blended with my skin tone at all. They looked completely different on my skin than in the bottle. Every shade i tried seemed to oxidize a bit and turn too pinkish and too dark on my skin, leaving me looking ashy. I also couldn't get it to blend down into my neck well at all. I've tried different ways of applying it and different shades, and while I don't have a problem getting it even and not splotchy, it never looks right. Buff is too light for my skin. Sand beige and Nude both oxidize too dark and ashy on my skin after about 10 minutes. It's horrible. This foundation has great coverage and staying power, and it's probably great for a lot of people, but it didn't really work for me. I'd buy it again if I really needed foundation, but it's not my first choice :(

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer

**A note to all those people who hate this product because it looks terrible under your eyes: what is happening here? No wonder it creases and looks terrible, this concealer is much too thick and heavy duty for undereyes! This is a great concealer, but only when used properly. It should be used to cover up major discoloration, blemishes, etc. Undereye circles are covered much better by true liquids and very blendable creams. Anything this thick will cake and accentuate lines wayyy too much.** That being said: I saw all the great reviews for this product and thought I'd try it. I've always had a hard time covering up my blemishes and dark acne scars, and usually my concealer doesn't stay on or last very long, so I have to keep constantly applying throughout the day, and putting a lot of powder on top to keep it in place, and with all of that, most concealers end up just looking cakey and bad. This concealer was completely different though, and I'm so glad I bought it! It's super thick and covers well, dries fast, and stays put. I have fair skin, and I use the lightest shade, and that shade is still super light on my skin, so I have to put it under my foundation to help it blend in and look natural. I apply this (just a tiny bit, that's definitely all you need) with my fingers where I need it, blend it in fast before it dries, and apply another layer if I need more coverage. Then I apply my foundation and powder on top. I love the coverage and the staying power, but sometimes it's so thick and the color is so light that it's hard to blend in nicely with the rest of my makeup. Still probably the best concealer I've ever tried though! Tip: use this ONLY if you need very heavy coverage! for minor imperfections and blemishes, you don't need nearly as heavy a product :)

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 4 of 5
neveralways142 1/20/2012 3:05:00 PM

I had been using this foundation for quite a while, and it seems that whenever I go into the bathroom at school for touchups or anything, I see a lot of other girls who use the same foundation. I liked it because the texture was so smooth and creamy, and it gave good coverage and evened out my skin soo well. I liked to apply this foundation with my fingers and blend it into my skin, it gave me the most natural look, and then i would apply concealer and my dream matte powder on top. It would oxidize a bit through the day though, and because of my oily, acne prone skin, it didn't last as long as I would have liked. It also didn't help with my oily skin at all, and I had to use a LOT of mattifying powder on top of it to keep my face fairly shine free. Another con is that there isn't a great color selection for very fair skinned people, and the foundation shades seem to run a bit orangeish sometimes. All in all, It was a fairly good foundation for me, and I'd buy it again if I ran out of my normal foundation, but I've found others that last longer and work better with my specific skin type now. My personal favorite at the moment is Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation. Works so well with my skin type. Hope this is helpful!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume
rated 4 of 5
neveralways142 1/20/2012 2:58:00 PM

I actually bought this product on a whim at the grocery store. I had run out of my usual Maybelline Falsies mascara that I get from the drugstore, and thought I might as well try this. Im a fan of the rubbery/plasticy brushes compared to the normal bristle ones. I didn't know how well this mascara would work, but I was pleasantly surprised. I usually buy black mascara, but got this in brown black, and I liked the color. The mascara definitely gave me both length and volume without looking clumpy, which was great. Could be more volumizing, but not bad. It was a tad more expensive than the mascara I usually get, but not horrible. Im definitely a penny pincher when it comes to makeup, but I would buy this again. I like the look of the packaging, but sometimes my cap has a hard time screwing back on all the way, which annoys me, because then the mascara drys out faster. Probably just a bad cap, but other than that, good mascara. Im going to keep trying others to see what my favorite volumizing mascara is, but this is one of the best!

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
rated 5 of 5
neveralways142 1/20/2012 2:47:00 PM

Let me start off by saying that everyone's skin is totally different, so obviously different products work for different people. That being said, this is my HG foundation, at least for now :) I'm a drugstore makeup junkie, and I have to try just about everything I can afford before making decisions about what products I like best. For me, this is the best foundation I have ever used. I prefer liquid foundations because they seem to look the best on my skin, powders always look to cakey and dont provide enough coverage, and creams or cream to powders always settle, separate, or oxidize horribly on my face. Since I have fairly oily skin with breakouts and some pretty bad acne scars, plus a very uneven skin tone and hereditary dark circles around my eyes, I look for foundations that cover and conceal well without feeling like thick paste, keep my skin from looking shiny throughout the day, and blend well without looking uneven and splotchy. This foundation gives me pretty much all of that! Great coverage, natural/matte finish for me, blendable, and not very pricey at all! Amazing for a cheap drugstore foundation. Even though I apply most liquid foundations with my fingers, I like to apply this with a triangular sponge (not a wedge) and then I let it dry a couple of minutes and dust a translucent setting powder on top. With this foundation, I don't have to use a ton of my dream matte powder, and I love how I don't have to powder my face every couple of hours while wearing this like i do with most liquids, it has great staying power. My only problem with this is the packaging. Maybe I just have a bad bottle, but the cap likes to leak a bit, not a ton, but i have to be careful and wipe it off a lot. Also, as a warning for those with extremely fair skin: this probably won't work for you. I have pretty light skin, and the very lightest shade is fine for me most of the time, but anyone with super fair skin will need a better color selection. But out of every drugstore foundation I've tried, this is definitely my miracle foundation!
