Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
nettersbetter 12/14/2011 1:41:00 PM
This stuff is terrible! It did not take away the greasiness and actually made my hair look more oily as the day went by. Maybe I got a bad can, but mine was NOT a powder spray, like most dry shampoos are.

Eyeliner -Milani - Liquif'eye Metallic eye liner pencil -black
nettersbetter 11/28/2011 11:32:00 PM
WOW!! REALLY WOW! I have tried soooo many liners (UD, Mac, BB, WnW, gels, creams, pencils, liquids, etc) and have not found any that would stay on my waterline. I picked this up at Target, honestly not really expecting much. I lined my waterline, put on shadow and mascara and went to work. Fast forward 10 hours...Time to take off my makeup. I usually use an eye makeup remover, but was feeling lazy, so I just slathered some cleansing oil all over my face with my eyes closed and jumped in the shower. I rinsed off the oil, then washed my face with my Clarisonic and cleanser. Fifteen minutes later, I got out of the shower (mind you, I was in there for 15 minutes with steam and hot water running down my face), I was SHOCKED when I looked in the mirror and saw that my waterline still had liner on it! And I don't mean just a few spots... the ENTIRE waterline was still black with liner!! At first I thought the cleansing oil didn't work with waterproof eye makeup, but upon further inspection, I saw that all of the eyeshadow and waterproof mascara was gone. It was just the liner that remained! (I'm guessing that since my eyes were closed while I washed my face, the waterline was not exposed to the cleansing oil.) I had to saturate a q-tip with a dual-based eye makeup remover, pull down my bottom lid, and swipe my waterline a few times before it came off. It may sound like a pain, but to me it's worth it, to have the liner to stay on my waterline all day, Just a tip: This liner is VERY creamy and soft so it can be a pain to sharpen. Just stick it in the freezer for 5 minutes before sharpening. It will make your life so much easier!

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Lip Lites- Mocha Mousse
nettersbetter 11/25/2011 10:35:00 PM
This is my HG lipgloss! The pinky brown color really suits my tan skin. It's MLBB. It's sheer, creamy and well-pigmented. It's non-sticky, which for me, is the most important property of a lip gloss. When I wear this, I've had multiple friends and co-workers ask me what gloss I'm wearing. They are probably expecting me to say some high-end dept store brand, and are vey surprised when I tell the it's Bonne Bell.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme
nettersbetter 11/25/2011 9:03:00 PM
I have combination skin and found this too be a bit too heavy. I would use a small amount after washing my face at night. The next day, about mid-morning, my face would be greasy. I think this moisturizer would work best for dry skin types or for someone who lives in a colder or dry climate.

Cleansers -Equate - 3-1 Facial Cleansing Towelettes

These are very convenient, but they stung my eyes pretty badly when I remove my eye makeup. They remove everything except my waterproof mascara.

Treatments (Eye) -Burt's Bees - Repair Serum with Attar of Rose
nettersbetter 11/21/2011 1:19:00 PM
This is something I like to use around my eyes nightly and on dry spots as needed. In the winter, or when I feel that I need a bit more hydration, I'll mix in two or three drops of this oil with my regular moisturizer. A little goes a long way! If you use too much, your face can end up looking very greasy.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
nettersbetter 11/21/2011 1:15:00 PM
This is a very natural looking mascara. While it does not clump, it only adds a small amount of length and volume. It is ok with holding a curl, but not the best. This is a mascara that I like to wear as a base under other mascaras.

Mascara -Shiseido - Nourishing Mascara Base
nettersbetter 11/21/2011 1:10:00 PM
I hate to say it, but I was a bit disappointed with this product. I was expecting volume, length and curl. I have STRAIGHT lashes that will not hold a curl. I tested this out by wearing it on one eye and not the other under my mascara and while it did hold the curl longer than the eye without the base, the curl still fell a significant amount at the end of the day.

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 11:19:00 PM
I bought this as a dupe of my beloved Lorac Hot and Spicy blush/bronzer duo which runs about $30. When I saw this one for $3, I had to try it. What a disappointment! The colors are very matte and look chalky on my tan skin. I agree with the other review who said the blush is too light and the bronzer is too dark. The bronzer made my face look dirty and didn't blend out very well. I have been lucky with other ELF products, just not this one. I guess you get what you pay for.

Bronzers -LORAC - Cheek Duo- Hot and Spicy
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 11:13:00 PM
I am in LOVE with this blush/bronzer! I picked it up on a whim at Sephora. The powder is well pigmented and has a very fine consistency (sort of like the consistency of a perle eye shadow). I know it's meant to be worn as two separate products, but I just mix them together and wear it as a blush. The two colors mixed together look amazing on my warm-tone tan skin! I have tried many other blushes but always return to this one. The only thing they could improve on is the packaging. It is big and clunky and takes up most of the room in my makeup bag.

Brows -Shiseido - Eyebrow & Eyeliner Compact - Light Brown BL3
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 2:16:00 PM
I have this in the darkest color and absolutely LOVE it! I have dark dark brown, almost black, but not quite black hair and the darker color of this powder matches me perfectly. I don't even use the lighter color. I have had the same compact since 2002 and it's not even showing any pan. There is only a slight dip. The powder is so pigmented, for natural looking brows I only "tap" the brush on the powder (as opposed to swiping it) and it picks up enough product for each brow. I even use the brush that comes with it. It has short, dense angled bristles that are perfect for appliation. After I apply the powder, I use a spool brush to soften the look. The only thing I would like to see change is the packaging. I think the container is big for a brow powder and it's one of the biggest items in my makeup bag.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 12:18:00 PM
I found this mascara to be extremely clumpy and it didn't really hold my curl. I even used a light hand when applying but still got clumps. While I like the small brush (I LOVE small brushes), when you pull the wand out of the tube it is saturated with mascara. I tried to scrape the excess off back into the tube opening, but no luck--the brush was still clumped with mascara. The only way to make it work would be to wipe off the brush with a tissue before every use, but then you end up wasting half of the tube. At $23, it's not worth it.

Eye Makeup Remover -Sonia Kashuk - Remove
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 12:05:00 PM
I find this eye makeup remover to be very effective at removing waterproof mascara (I use EXTREMELY waterproof Japanese mascaras). It comes in a tall thin bottle with a wide mouth opening (some people don't like that but I think it's easier to wet the cotton pad). All I do is gently press a saturated cotton pad against my eye for 10 seconds. This will soften any waterproof makeup considerably. Then with light pressure, I slowly swipe my lashes up and down (in the same motion of applying mascara, if that makes any sense). All my eye makeup is removed without any scrubbing or tugging. I find this to have a much more oily feel than any other dual-phase remover that I have tried. That being said, the oiliness goes away after a few minutes, but then it leaves the skin around my eyes VERY dry, TOO dry (as in, I even get some flakiness on my lids). If this didn't dry out my skin so badly, it would probably by my HG eye MU remover.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 11:49:00 AM
This is one of my favorite mascaras. It gives me great length and volume with no clumping, but most importantly, it holds my curl ALL DAY! I never get any flaking or smudging. I really like the small plastic brush which is great for getting the base of your lashes and the inner/outer corners. This is EXTREMELY waterproof, so it is difficult to remove, but that is the same very reason it holds a curl. What I do is saturate a cotton pad with a dual-phase remover and gently press against my eye for 10 seconds. This will soften the mascara considerably. Then I lightly swipe my lashes up and down with the pad with light pressure (in the same motion of applying mascara, if that makes any sense). My mascara comes off with no scrubbing or tugging and I have never lost any lashes by doing it this way. The bottom line is you HAVE to use a dual-phase or oil-based eye MU remover, or else you will find it nearly impossible to remove.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
nettersbetter 11/17/2011 11:34:00 AM
This is the best eyelash curler EVER! It has a slightly flatter curve than your typical lash curler, but not as flat as the Shiseido one. This one fits my eye perfectly. I can reach the base of my lashes with no problem and have never pinched my eyelid. I've had the same curler for years and it's still going strong. This curler is no longer available in US stores (Nordstrom, Sephora, etc) but you can order it online on the Shu Uemura website.
