Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Temptations 3 in 1 Strawberry Mint
nemesis41 7/16/2011 6:34:00 PM
In the bottle this stuff had very little scent, and I was a bit worried. When I actually used it in the shower the scent became much stronger. The strawberry and mint combo is both fruity and refreshing, and it doesn't smell too much like either one or the other. This is not the most remarkable scent I've ever experienced, but it is certainly pleasant. As a shower gel this product bubbles up nicely and feels good on the skin.
Lotions/ Creams -100 Percent Pure - Lime Body Lotion
nemesis41 8/21/2010 2:24:00 AM
I was very pleasantly surprised by this body lotion. I've found the 100% Pure products to be an interesting mix. Some of the products are fantastic, but other have weird consistency, packaging, or scent issues. I'm happy to say that those issues were not at all present here. The consistency of this lotion is surprisingly thick, and it sinks into my skin immediately. It's also entirely non-greasy, and I wasn't getting lotion smudges all over my book when I went to bed (definite plus!) The scent is somewhat light, and I was surprised that it didn't smell like straight-up lime. I actually think the scent is more like key lime pie, as there's a slight pastry note that goes along with the lime. For my own use, I'd actually prefer a straight lime scent, but the dessert smell is not so strong as to make this unusable. Overall this is quite a good lotion, much more moisturizing than expected. I do wish that it came in a jar rather than a pump bottle, as I always find it difficult to get the last 20% out of a pump bottle, but overall the product is very nice.
Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - GudonyaToo Intense Hair Conditioner
nemesis41 3/21/2010 9:12:00 PM
This is definitely a very moisturizing conditioner- I find that most natural/handmade conditioners are just not strong enough, but this one is the exception. The scent is strong, and I can smell it long after I get out of the shower. I have Strawberry Fields and its very fruity, an intense strawberry scent.
Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - GudonyaToo Salty Dawg Creme Shampoo
nemesis41 3/21/2010 9:04:00 PM
Overall I've been quite pleased with this product. It has a nice, strong scent (I have strawberry fields- very fruity), and all the little salt bits feel nice on the scalp. The main drawbacks for me are that first, I have to use quite a lot to get a good lather. Second, I'm afraid that this shampoo strips my color, so I only use it in the weeks before I get my hair recolored.
Gels/Soaps -Bliss Labs - Blood Orange & White Pepper Shower Gel
nemesis41 12/19/2009 9:49:00 PM
This is such a wonderful scent- light and fresh. It has a clear orange base, but is tempered by white pepper, making the scent more fresh than fruity. This is fabulously refreshing in the shower. My one complaint is the pump bottle, which makes it difficult to transport- I'd have preferred a more conventional squeeze bottle. Overall, though, this is not a scent that one can get anywhere- unique and very pleasant.
This is a beautiful-smelling, deeply moisturizing body butter. It truly has the consistency of butter, or more likely, a soft margerine. It smooths on easily and sinks in immediately. It keeps my dry skin moisturized throughout the night. I don't really use this during the day, as it is a fairly intensive body lotion, but it's perfect for at night. The scent is lavender, but not too sharp- I find it to be a scent that's soft around the edges. The only negative is that this comes in a glass jar. While the packaging is attractive, it's definitely not portable.
This is a perfectly good shampoo, but I didn't find it to be anything special. This shampoo has a very nice scent- grapefruit, although I found the scent to be rather faint. I like a good, strong scent that lingers, so a few more drops of rapefruit essential oil might have helped. Those who prefer light scents will want to try this. The formula of this shampoo is rather thin and runny, and didn't work up much of a lather. While I know this is normative of SLS free shampoos, I still felt I had to use quite a bit to get my hair clean.
I was surprised and pleased to find out that the scent of this body butter is not the cloying, sweet, fake mess I'd imagined, but really a light, fresh, and more complicated scent- I think it has a hint of spice. It's complicated enough that you likely won't think GUAVA!!! when you sniff it, more like "hmmm, nice, kind of fruity." As for the formula, body butter encompasses a wide range of textures, and this is definitely one of the lighter ones. It squeezes easily out of the tube, and sinks in fairly easily. This will not moisturize as much as a super-heavy-duty butter, but I found the moisture to be quite sufficient.
Lotions/ Creams -Origins - Lime and Geranium Hand Lotion
nemesis41 11/27/2009 8:14:00 PM
This hand lotion has a good consistency- appropriately thick, it sinks in quickly. It also has a nice, strong scent. The scent is heavily geranium- much more geranium than lime. The scent remains fairly strongly geranium. I had wished that lime was the predominant note, with hints of geranium, but it definitely seems to be the other way around. I definitely did like the fact that the scent of this lotion lasted literally for hours. A great choice for those who like a heavily scented lotion.
Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Blood Orange + White Pepper Body Butter
nemesis41 11/16/2009 1:53:00 AM
Bliss products are undeniably expensive, but this body butter might just live up to the price tag (well, maybe). The body butter squeezes out of the tube easily, is thick and rich, yet spreads well on the skin. It's not greasy, and it didn't leave an oil slick behind on my hands. It also sunk right into my skin. Still, there's lots of good body butters on the market, so what really sold me on this one was the scent. The blood orange smells like a real, fresh orange, not an orange popsicle. This is not a fake scent, it's not too heavily fruity, thanks to being tempered by the white pepper. I found this to be a fresh, yet comforting scent- a nice touch of sunshine in the middle of winter.
This is one hardworking bath potion, and it smells like it. Basically, this herbal bath smells like medicine, and unpleasant medicine at that. The scent is quite strong, and is not helped by the fact that this stuff looks like cough syrup. It turns the water a somewhat disgusting orange. This stuff smells far too disgusting for me to find a bath in it relaxing. I'm reserving it for use when I'm sick- it will either soften the bath water when I can't smell anything, or perhaps clear up my sinuses. Otherwise, never again. This is too bad, because I've used some other Kneipp products that were quite nice. This one was a miss, however.
I had to wonder when reading the reviews for this product if I was actually using the same scent as the rest of the reviewers. Reading the list of notes for this perfume it sounded promising- the florals and the fruity notes sounded fantastic (green mango and winter pear? absolutely!). The problem for me seems to lie in the musk, and particularly sandalwood notes. Once I put this perfume on it smelled like wood and musk. I got very little in the way of feminine florals. In fact, the scent smelled almost masculine on me. This was not a winner for me, but it might be great for those who generally find perfumes to be too girly/flowery. Definitely not very wearable on me.
Shampoo -Korres - Aloe and Soapwort pH Neutral Shampoo for Frequent Use
nemesis41 11/6/2009 9:45:00 PM
This is an okay shampoo- it's light, it lathers well enough. The scent is light and clean. I'm not sure exactly what the scent is, perhaps soapwort? It's a very light scent, not at all perfumey. The main problem with this shampoo is that it's runny. It takes quite a bit to lather up one's full head (especially if you have long or thick hair). Given that this shampoo is pretty pricey, it becomes pretty hard to justify given how much gets wasted. For a shampoo that's just okay it's not worth the price.
Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Ripe Red Currant Lip Balm
nemesis41 7/8/2009 11:26:00 PM
This lip balm smells great- like ripe, red berries. It feels a little waxy and sticky going on, but it wears down to a softer balm. If the balm was softer and went on more smoothly it would be perfect.
These bath tablets fizz slowly in the water dispersing a bit of color and scent. I tried a spruce tablet, and I have to admit I was a little afraid of the scent. I've never been a big fan of pine, but thankfully the pine scent in this tablet was not at all strong, and was rather soft. That said, it was still pine, and I think there would be a number of other essential oil notes or blends that I would prefer. As for the qualities beyond scent, these tablets do a brilliant job of softening the water, and I felt fantastic when I got out of the bath- this really did relax me. In a different scent I could see myself giving this a higher score.
