Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum
ncgal 4/17/2012 7:07:00 PM
I love this product! I only thought Armani was the best lash primer. How wrong was I! This stuff is magical on my 50+ lashes that are sparse and short. I was hooked from the first tube I bought and still loving tube #6. I mean I don't go to the grocery without using this before at least one coat of my YSL Faux Cils mascara. Amazing!

Lipstick -Guerlain - Rouge Automatique Apres L'Ondee
ncgal 4/17/2012 7:04:00 PM
Apres L'Ondee was the 5th Rouge Automatique for me. It is perfect nude for my fair skin because it has some neutral color but it doesn't wash me out. Most reviews I read call it pink. I beg to differ. On my very pigmented lips, it is a nice bronzy coral with just the perfect amount of color for my casual days. This lipstick is amazing when topped with a pale gold or bronze gloss. I am just amazed I finally found a great nude lipstick that doesn't make me look sick!

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Illuminating
ncgal 9/16/2010 7:33:00 PM
I just received this in "Bare" and couldn't wait to put it on my face. Being over 50, I'm all about the "glow" and hydration. This stuff is a MUST HAVE for ladies my age! I am blessed with good skin, and it gives me the right coverage and such a pretty glow - I don't see glitter at all. I tried half of my face with just this product, then the other half with this and some mineral powder over it. What can I say? Both halves of my face looked gorgeous! Tomorrow, I'm trying it mixed with a little liquid foundation, just to see the "look". This is perfect for my lifestyle - love it!

Skincare - Body -Chanel - No 5 After Bath Powder
ncgal 9/3/2010 12:52:00 PM
I've never been a fan of the No. 5 fragrance - the perfume always just was "too too". However, this summer in the terrible high temps and humidity, I really wanted to try some soothing bath powder (not drug store brand) to get rid of the "stickiness" before bed. I splurged and ordered this. WOW - INSTANT LOVE. The smell was so wonderful - not that overpowering sicky sweet smell I remembered from years ago. But the powder is so finely milled and has a slight pinky sheen (not too much!) and feels amazing on your body ladies. This is one of my favorite "me splurges" ever! I'm definintely trying the No. 5 body mist next. Question: If you have this product, how exactly to you use that little screen thingey it came with? I somehow end up getting the powder everywhere no matter what I do. No instructions were supplied. Thanks!

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Butterfield 8
ncgal 5/2/2010 1:03:00 PM
I wasn't sure about the whole "gloss pot" concept with these, but after seeing how Butterfield 8 actually looked on my lips, I wouldn't care if they packaged it in egg cartons!!! This is the most sophisticated nude color I have ever tried. To say it is my "HG" is such an understatement. If you try to buy one of these and find it's sold out, blame me. My plan is to buy every one I can get my grubby little hands on! The perfect nude - it doesn't make me look like death! Gotta love this one. Now ... for the perfect NARS lip liner pencil to go with it. Hmmm. Any suggestions????

Shampoo -Pureology - Nanoworks Shampoo
ncgal 3/7/2010 1:33:00 PM
OK, I admit I spend waay to much on my hair. Color/highlights/cut every four weeks - but I'll gladly skip other little luxuries just to have my hair a certain way! My stylist has begged me to buy this shampoo and the conditioner for years and I always laughed at the price tag and thought "no way it could be THAT good!" Well ... I was wrong, very wrong! I got it at a very reduced price on Amazon and could not believe the difference it made in my hair after the first use. It actually came back to life! It looked much fuller, had bounce and shine, and actuall styled better. I'm totally hooked on this stuff and if you do spend the big bucks for color, why not spend a little more to maintain it and maximize it? Especially great for "aging hair syndrome"! If you're over 50 ... don't even think about it. JUST BUY IT!

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lip Gloss Zena
ncgal 3/7/2010 1:30:00 PM
Like many others here, I got this in a set from QVC. Well, it was true love at first swipe! This is the most perfect nude lip gloss I have in my drawer and ... it actually does plump my lips!!!! I can't imagine why Leslie hasn't brought it back into her regular offerings because it is stunning. Love it!

Lipstick -NARS - Christina
ncgal 3/7/2010 1:26:00 PM
Don't let Christina fool you --- it isn't just another frosty berry lippie! It will probably look different on different levels of pigment in lips, but I am in love with this one! On me, it gives my fair skin such a lift and brings my whole face to life - especially my green eyes. It isn't too shimmery and doesn't seem to dry out on me. The beautiful rip e iced raspberry color is just gorgeous. I think this would be on those lipsticks that could wind up being any woman over 40's "best friend". This is a sleeper shade, but such a real winner!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Cremesheen Gloss in Looks Like Sin
ncgal 10/19/2009 6:45:00 PM
I went searching for a deeper lipgloss for the fall/winter and found rave reviews for this one. It's not easy to find - but with a little googling, I nabbed one. Boy, was it worth all the effort! This is a gorgeous pigmented, yet sheer berry brown shade that is just gorgeous. I don't think I've ever seen another gloss quite like this. Somehow, it isn't sticky and doesn't taste strange either! Highly recommend this one, and please don't be put off by how it looks in the tube. It's super sheer and super beautiful!

Lip Treatments -La Prairie - Cellular Lip Line Plumper
ncgal 10/5/2009 3:45:00 PM
Being in my 50s, I began noticing my lips just weren't as full as they always had been. Really no vertical lip lines to speak of - not a smoker. After trying this product for a week, what I really noticed was a real improvement in the "definition" of my lips. The actual lip line was more pronounced, and fuller. I am hooked on this product and can find it discounted online now. I really believe this is a true friend of any woman over 40. It even makes my lipstick/gloss go on better and not bleed. The big lesson I learned with this product was it isn't exactly a "lip plumper" as much as it is a "lip definer" ... and I love it. And for the record, I am on my 4th tube and I have never noticed any smell of any kind.

Lipstick -Chantecaille - Lip Chic
ncgal 9/15/2009 11:40:00 AM
I initially bought this to travel on the plane with since we can't take normal lip gloss, but lipstick is approved. I wanted the lipgloss "effect". This really fits the bill. I have this in 3 shades: Camillia (beautiful pale pink); Heirloom Rose (med. deep berry/plum); and Dhalia (beautiful sheer wearable red). I love the sheer coverage and also how they feel on my lips. They are not as expensive as my HG Cle de Peau Extra Silky lipsticks, and they do travel well. I also think they give some additional benefits to my lips - they seem softer and more hydrated when I use these Lip Chics. My next one will be Damask, a deeper plum shade.

Primer/ Corrector -La Prairie - Cellular Treatment Gold Illusion Line Filler
ncgal 9/15/2009 11:35:00 AM
If you're over 40, just go buy this. This is the perfect primer if you're a little dry and loosing color in your skin. Don't let the gold appearance fool you. Used correctly (sparingly) no glitter or garish gold appers - only evenly toned skin ready for makeup (or not). I've had no breakouts, oiliness, etc. from this. Just a smooth velvety base that I absolutely adore.

Treatments (Eye) -La Prairie - Eye Luminescent Veil
ncgal 9/15/2009 11:31:00 AM
This is one of my least favorite LP products. Let me start by saying I absolutely love the eye patches that come with this set. Man, they have saved me on many early mornings when I looked like something the cat drug in! The "veil" however, did not work on me at all. No matter how little I used, it sort of rolled up in a little ball underneath my eye area and seemed to be way too thick/heavy, even with heating it up between my fingers before applying. They should sell just the eye pads alone, IMO.

Treatments (Eye) -La Prairie - Essence of Caviar Eye Complex
ncgal 9/15/2009 11:28:00 AM
This La Prairie product is one of my LP "must haves". I have been using it for 15 years and still get great results from the product, especially now I'm mid 50's. A little does really go a long way and I love how I can put this on my entire eye area with no negative side effects. I think a lot of negative reviewers didn't realize you must layer another eyecream on top of this after it dries for maximum results. I love the LP Radiance eye cream layered with this serum. I took one star away because for some reason over the years and with the hundreds of application, I still struggle with the little pump. I either get too much, none at all, or only a bubble at the end of the glass pump. This product is so worth it, however ... I can see now that really taking care of the eye area is worth it.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow in Heather
ncgal 8/18/2009 4:56:00 PM
I'm a huge fan of the BB cream eyeshadows, but this one is truly my favorite. No shimmer and it makes my pale green eyes really pop. It is the perfect shade of purple - not too light or dark, not too intense. I love to pair Heather with Orchid - especially when I'm not sure what color to wear or just in a hurry and need something I know really works. I've never been crazy about the packaging on these E/S's but as long as I keep my nails short, no problem. I really don't like using the cream E/S brush with these for some reason. I'm hoping she'll do more non-shimmery colors.
