Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Curly Hair Solutions - Curl Keeper

I have tried many, many frizz reducing serums over the years for my thick curly hair, but this is the only one that works consistently. Whether i's humid or dry, Curl Keeper really does reduce frizz for me. The key is to comb it through your hair when applying it. It is a bit pricey, but you can buy the huge 33 oz bottle on Amazon and save a ton.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5

This eye shadow is amazing! I have very oily skin, including eye lids, and any eye shadow that I use ends up creasing by mid-day, regardless of weather. The first time I wore this it was in the high 90s, humid and drizzly. But when I got home from work (10 hours after applying it), this eye shadow hadn't budged! I didn't use any primer or anything else on my lids. I may never use another type of shadow again! I got the taupe which is very neutral and light with a slight touch of shimmer.

I have fine (but thick) curly hair that is very prone to frizz. I had heard about this product on the NC message boards and people swore it was HG, so I had been wanting to try it for over a year, but couldn't justify the international shipping. So, on a trip to visit family in London in August, I stocked up on 4 jars at approx. $2 USD each! I have to say, it has worked wonders. I scrunch it into my hair after my leave-in conditioner and serum while my hair is dripping wet. I finish it off with a light gel, and plop my hair in a microfiber towel for 15 minutes or so. The product leaves my hair less frizzy, with good clumpage and shine. I am very, very happy with it. As others have said, you only need a small amount. My first jar lasted me 8 months and during that time my thick hair was halfway down my back (I just cut it to my shoulders a few weeks ago). So, even though the international shipping is expensive, I would say it's worth it if you don't think you'll be headed over to the UK any time soon, or don't know anyone over there who can mail it to you.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Curl Conscious Calming Creme

I have fine (but thick) curly hair that is very prone to frizz. I scrunch this product into my hair after my leave-in conditioner and a serum. I finish it off with a light gel. I put all my styling products in while my hair is dripping wet. I then plop my hair in a microfiber towel for 15 minutes or so. This product is only so-so for me. It does a decent job defining my curls and reducing frizz, but I've tired better stuff. Also, CG should be aware that it has silicones in it, so you will have to clarify after using it. I will finish the bottle, but I won't buy it again.

Styling Products -DevaCurl - Mirror Curls
rated 5 of 5

I have fine (but thick) curly hair that is very prone to frizz at all times of the year (not just in humid weather). I bought this a few weeks ago, and it has worked wonders. I scrunch it into my hair after my leave-in conditioner and before all other styling products while my hair is dripping wet. I then put in my curl cream and gel, and plop my hair in a microfiber towel for 15 minutes or so. This serum makes my hair almost completely frizz free -- it still get some halo frizz, but it is a HUGE improvement over what my hair looked like before MirrorCurls. It is also shiny and healthy looking. I love it! I know people have issues where the serum has made their hair sticky and/or limp. I would suggest using just one squirt, even though the bottle says to use more than that. I find that one squirt is plenty on my shoulder length thick hair. This will also make the bottle last longer as it is quite expensive.

Styling Products -Kinky Curly - Spiral Spritz

I love, love, love this frizz serum! I bought it protect against frizz (which it does well), but it has the added bonus of giving my curls a definition that they have not seen in a very long time. The only downside is that the "spray" bottle doesn't spray. It shoots out like a gun, so do not spray directly at hair. I squirt 5 or 6 shots into my hands and rub together and then run though my wet hair. I know some people use it to refresh second day curls, but that has not worked for me. But I will buy again and again for the frizz protection and definition! And at $12 for an 8 oz. bottle, it is a steal compared to other frizz serums that cost as much for only 2 oz.!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

Sigh. I wanted to love this mascara. I bought into the hype and finally plunked down way more money than I usually do for mascara. And how was I rewarded? With the dreaded raccoon eyes! This is not a common occurrence for me (only one or two other mascaras do this to me), so I was really surprised that such a highly regarded, expensive product did it. The one upside was that it did produce nice separation of my lashes. However, they did not look any longer or more dramatic as some people have experienced. All in all, it was a dud for me.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection

This mascara looked good for the first few hours -- nice color, good separation of lashes, and decent thickening effect.. I also liked that it was not a thin, runny consistency. But by the end of the day it usually does one of two things -- flakes off or gives me raccoon eyes. Would NOT buy again :(

Styling Products -Aveda - Be Curly Curl Enhancer
rated 2 of 5
nance8979 9/7/2009 5:37:00 PM

I liked this product for the first few weeks I used it. I would mix it with the Aveda Confixor gel and distribute through wet hair after my leave-in conditioner and let air dry. At first it made my curls shiny and bouncy. After a few weeks it made them dull and limp. It was weird. I discovered that it has protein in it, which isn't good for my hair. But it also started to make my hair feel dirty and gunky, like it was creating buildup that I couldn't remove. I will not repurchase.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus
rated 4 of 5

I use this as both a weekly deep conditioning treatment and a leave-in conditioner. As a weekly DT, I put it on dry hair with coconut oil, put on a shower cap and warp a towel over that, and let it sit for 1-2 hours. Then I shower and wash my hair as usual. It makes my hair uber soft and moisturized. As a leave-in, I put in on soaking wet hair after I shower and before I put any other products in my hair. It keeps my curls soft and moisturized.

Hair -Biosilk - Rock Hard Gelee
rated 2 of 5
nance8979 9/7/2009 4:55:00 PM

I (like many others) bought this gel after reading rave reviews on this site and naturallycurly.com. I held off for a while since it is so expensive, but decided to splurge one day thinking it would be worth it if it worked as well as people said. Unfortunately it did not work for me. For starters, it dried my hair out and did nothing for the frizz. I think it was the protein. The other weird thing was the hold -- it was not rock hard at all. I see that many people complained about that, but I had the opposite problem. It did not give me any better hold than regular gels. Not sure why. It's great that is works for so many other people, but I will not be repurchasing.

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Conditioning Balm
rated 5 of 5
nance8979 9/7/2009 4:44:00 PM

My hair is curly and quite dry, so I was looking for a conditioner that was moisturizing and free of silicones and protein. The Conditioning Balm fits the bill. It is very thick and moisturizes my dry hair. It helps keep my curls light and bouncy. Recommend.

Styling Products -Kinky Curly - Curling Custard
rated 5 of 5
nance8979 9/7/2009 4:31:00 PM

I started using this back in the spring when I started the CG routine. I liked it very much then, but switched to other products when the jar ran out just to see what else was out there. Big mistake. I have finally gone back to KCCC because it is the best for my hair. It gives my curls good clumps, shine, and less frizz. It doesn't have as much hold as I need, so I use a light gel afterwards and it is perfect. It does get a bit crunchy, but I just scrunch it out when my hair dries and it's all good. Other CG products I tried had protein in them, and it turns out I am protein sensitive (it dries out my hair), so KCCC is better for my hair. I highly recommend!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
rated 5 of 5
nance8979 9/7/2009 4:25:00 PM

I use coconut oil in my wet hair during the summer after I shower to reduce frizziness. It works okay this way, but makes my hair a little stringy. So I started using it on dry hair at night for the same purpose. I leave it on over night and rinse in the morning. I find that I get better results this way. It makes my hair shiny, frizz free and healthy.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
rated 5 of 5
nance8979 5/10/2009 4:50:00 PM

I use this on my hair once a week as a clarifying rinse. i mix 1/4 of ACV to 1 cup of water and pur it over my head after shampooing. On those days I don't need use a conditioner. it removes all the gunky buildup from my products and leaves my hair super-duper shiny! i have never seen it this shiny from using hair products. i love it. i would like to use it more than once a week, but i am afraid that might damage my hair. So for now, I use it weekly. I highly recommend!!! The smell is gross, but it goes away by the time your hair is dry.
