Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - #29
rated 5 of 5

This brush, amazingly, was gifted upon me. But I cannot believe I didn't own it sooner! I find it to be much more precise than MAC's tapered crease brushes, and the bristles are soft but not floppy. The #29 brush is my go-to brush for applying shadow in the crease and on my brow bone. A must-have, if you ask me!

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eyeliner Pencil in Prussian
rated 5 of 5
naima 5/12/2005 11:39:00 AM

It's about time that MAC offered up a true navy in the Powerpoint formula. I prefer Powerpoints to the regular pencils and Kohls, and I've been looking for a deeper blue than Navy Stain for years.

Prussian is a slightly shimmery navy blue. I love that it is vibrant and lasting. Kudos to MAC for finally making this shade available in this formula!

Eyeliner -MAC - Buried Treasure Powerpoint
rated 5 of 5
naima 5/12/2005 11:35:00 AM

MAC described Buried Treasure as an "underground black-brown with gold," and the description is right on.

I love this metallic liner as a cool alternative to basic black or brown. If any of you are familiar with NARS' Equus liquid liner, this is a dead ringer, just in the much more user-friendly pencil formula. Buried Treasure is also great as an eye shadow or base. As with all Powerpoints I've tried, the staying power is great and the color is vibrant.

I'm glad MAC finally added some new Powerpoints, and I will definitely repurchase this one.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Mania #2
rated 5 of 5
naima 4/7/2005 4:58:00 PM

I love this pretty brownish-pink lipstick. It's incredibly creamy and gives off a nice subdued shine. I was surprised that a color this light worked on my GA LSF 9 skintone, but I listed to the MA and I am glad! Although it works all right on me without a liner, I love it with a brown-toned liner like MAC Cork for a look close to Viva Glam V. I also like to top it with clear gloss or lip balm for a slight boost. I will definitely repurchase if needed.

Mascara -MAC - Splashproof Lash in Blacksplash
rated 2 of 5
naima 4/7/2005 4:45:00 PM

This stuff is pretty bad. I got this mascara in a pinch, knowing that I could get a product from a decent line at a very good price. This product is below average - it's very wet and creates spiky lashes and clumps. It does almost nothing to lengthen and very little to thicken. I don't know if it's waterproof because it has usually flaked off by the time I get around to washing. I definitely will think again before I buy products in a pinch.

Brows -Vincent Longo - Bi-Brow
rated 5 of 5
naima 3/29/2005 1:52:00 PM

This is one of the better cosmetic investments I've made lately. This brow kit is a split pan container that comes with a powder for filling in the brows and a tinted pomade for keeping them in place. I have it in black (dark brown powder a la Mac Brun & dark brown pomade), and it's perfect. It's defining without being too dark and dramatic, and it stays all day. I will definitely repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Shine Lip gloss #10
rated 5 of 5
naima 2/25/2005 4:49:00 AM

When do I not love Armani?! At first glance, this is just pink lip gloss. Actually, at second glance, that's all it is, too. But for some reason it is so pretty and natural and PERFECT!

As usual with the Shine lip glosses, this has staying power, but it's not too sticky. It shows up sheer, but packs just enough punch of color to leave my lips with a bright rosy shine. I just love it, and I will definitely repurchase if necessary.

Palettes -Giorgio Armani - Hollywood 2005 Limited Edition Palette
rated 5 of 5
naima 2/25/2005 3:20:00 AM

I have to agree with Muses - this is the best Armani palette so far! It's the most expensive, but definitely the best!

The 4 eye shadow colors are practical and natural-looking without being boring. It is an especially wonderful color combination for spring. However, since $75 is pricey for a palette with colors the size of dimes, here are a few things to consider:

**The lightest e/s in the palette is darn close to Armani e/s #9. It's pretty with the other shades, but it's certainly not a must-have on its own.

**The pink shade is pretty close to #37 or #42. So again, nice, but not absolutely necessary on its own.

**The purple-ish e/s is close enough to #5 to not need it on its own.

**The lip colors are nice and complement the palette well, but I don't think they are that original.

That said, it's great to have everything together in a nice little package. Very convenient for traveling and applying on the go. An MA said these limited edition palettes are very limited in quantity, so I wouldn't hold off if you are thinking about buying this. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful friend sponsor me on this item, but being the Armani freak that I am, I definitely would have splurged on it.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter in Chocolate Orange
rated 1 of 5
naima 1/6/2005 11:56:00 PM

I only spent a buck on this, and I wish I had it back. I really, really dislike this lip butter. The smell is OK, but it's not a luscious chocolate & orange blend. It reminds me of those cheap & gross scratch 'n' sniff stickers from my 80s childhood. Also, the stuff casts a whitish residue on my lips. So gross. To top it all off, it's not moisturizing at all. If I could give it a zero, I would.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 2:01:00 AM

As with the 100% Shea Butter, the price is outrageous, but the product is so worth it. This hand lotion is much more conveniently packaged than the 100%. It goes everywhere with me. There is a fragrance, but it's not so bad and it fades relatively quickly. This cream also leaves my hands with a slightly sticky feeling immediately after application, but that seems to fade quickly also.

I've been using this in between applications of the 100% shea butter, and I've noticed a distinct change in the softness of my hands over the last two weeks. My cuticle areas are much neater and softer too. I definitely plan to repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 100% Pure Shea Butter
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 1:57:00 AM

Expensive as ever and not so conveniently housed, but this stuff is just what my hands needed! After using this, along w/ the 20% shea hand lotion, my hands are noticeably softer, and my cuticles are not as obviously in need of a manicure. And I've found this product to be so multi-purpose - great for brows or as lipbalm, grooming cream for hair and foot cream. It's great for the colder, drier air of the winter months.

I've tried other Shea Butters, but this consistency and end result of the L'Occitane product are unmatched so far. I am pretty much out of my small tin and am eagerly awaiting the large tin in the mail.

Eyeliner -NARS - Liquid in Silkwood
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 1:50:00 AM

OMG! I love this liner! I am such a huge fan of NARS liquid liners, and it's great to have one in an everyday color. Silkwood is brown with an added kick of ever-so-slight shimmer. It's perfect. Doesn't flake, smear or smudge. My HG!

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eyeliner - Bordeauxline
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 1:46:00 AM

Bordeauxline is a very pretty alternative to boring brown liner. I love the richness of this plum shade. As with all Powerpoints, it's long-lasting and relatively smudge-resistant. A keeper.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Stubborn Brown
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 1:43:00 AM

Perfect, long-lasting brown eyeliner pencil. A staple. Stubborn Brown is just as reliable as I've found the other Powerpoints to be. Will definitely continue to repurchase.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Spring Bean
rated 5 of 5
naima 12/30/2004 1:36:00 AM

I just love the looks I get from my family when I pop out an apple green lipgloss. LOL.

Spring Bean is fun, but it's so practical and pretty. I must admit, I'm quite impressed with the Lustreglass formula and I'm interested in checking out the other shades. As for Spring Bean, I love how it neutralizes bright red lipsticks and some other shades I otherwise don't feel comfortable flaunting. This l/g leaves a nice shimmer and shine and lasts pretty long. Not bad MAC!
