Masks -Dermalogica - Skin Hydrating Masque
rated 5 of 5

I adore this product. Due to (I think) age and living aboard my combination oily skin has a tendency to become dehydrated. It's taken me too long to realise but through keeping my skin hydrated my skin texture, clarity, clearness all improves. The more I use products to keep oil at the bay, the worse my skin now becomes. Similarly I can't use products for dry skin as it causes the same problems such as spots, oil etc. This baby however really does help my skin. Dehydrated skin I'm told needs water not oil. This leaves my skin refreshed, hydrated for days, glowing, less lines, less spotty. For me it really works. I've lent it recently to 2 friends with similar issues and they all said the same, so much so they both stocked up on the product. I use this around my eyes with no problem. A tube lasts me literally months. It's been about 9 months of weekly use and my tube This is my favourite Dermalogica product and I've repurchased.

Wow! Have just used this product for the first time. My skin feel refined, smooth, soft and just full of all round fabulousness. Loved the scrub beads, loved the heat effect, loved the smell. It smelt good enough to eat and really added to my luxury bath pampering evening I just indulged in. Highly recommend and a new fav. I'll repost if my opinion changes after multiply use. Enjoy!

Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Foundation ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
n5357 7/17/2012 7:56:00 AM

I like this foundation, it's the first high street brand I've tried in years for foundation and it hasn't disappointed. Coverage is sheer, so I tend to use it more for daywear rather than nights out. I also find that the staying power isn't too great - I feel it needs retouching compared to more expensive brands. This may also be due to humidity however, as I live in India at the moment. Normally I cannot see this on my skin at all, it covers slight marks but appears invisible to the eye (which is great) but in the hot humid 48c heat we've had recently I find it has risen to sit on my skin and gone patchy. So not ideal for hot or humid climates. For the price though, i think it's a great natural day foundation, especially for the price. I don't much like the container though. I find the pump does not always perform well unless I've had it stood upright or not pumped it down in the last 30 seconds or so.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 1 of 5
n5357 2/6/2012 11:29:00 AM

This dries fast and makes nails super shiny. But urrgh to staying power! My nails chip and sometimes the polish comes off whole in under a day with this! Not what I was hoping for. Maybe it's user error, given the other reviews. Sadly it wasn't what I want in a top coat. Won't repurchase.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - This Works - Tired Eye serum
rated 4 of 5
n5357 10/5/2011 1:19:00 PM

I tried this after seeing the great reviews after it won a Sunday Magazine award. I've been using an eye cream regularly for a while now as I'm paranoid about fine line prevention. Normally I try to buy an eye cream with sunscreen, however, I'm also paranoid about the fact my eyes often look tired and darker underneath so I thought I'd give this a try. I was a little put off by the price (around £30) as I'd never used any of their products before, but given the reviews I thought I'd try it. I'm glad to say for me it was money very well spent. I have noticed that I now feel comfortable without eye concealer on. I no longer look in the mirror and see yellow under my eye. I no longer look in the mirror and see as many dark patches under my eye that I want to cover and people have stopped asking me 'are you okay, you look tired!' For these reasons I do feel that This Works Eye Serum has really worked! I'd definitely repurchase. I also like the packaging and pump container. It's easy to pump out too much product but I've found a gentle touch means less product pumps out. A bottle lasts months. I also wear contact lenses and my eyes can get dry/irritated easily - this serum hasn't caused me any irritation. Highly recommend and have been telling my friends about it. Only awarded 4 points as for me room for improvement would be adding an SPF (as I'm a sunscreen anti ageing junkie!)

Cleansers -Clarins - Pure Melt Cleansing Gel
rated 4 of 5
n5357 9/5/2011 8:28:00 AM

I normally use Dermalogica products (and I'm also a fan of Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for night time cleansing). I just felt like a change for a while and used to use (happily so) Clarins products, so thought I'd try this out. I also live overseas right now so Clarins is easier for me to get hold off. Pure Melt leaves my combo skin feeling sparkly clean, clear and ultra soft. I love the feel of it on my skin, which helps with encouraging me to cleanse thoroughly and for a good length of time. It removes all my make up and I haven't had problems with residue. It seems to be doing exactly what it says on the tin. In fact, I had a couple of spots beginning to take residence on my cheek but they've gone away without amounting to anything. The only thing I've done differently is cleanse with this product. The price is pretty pricey as I don't think the tube will last as long as some products do. But it's leaving my skin at it's best, so I'd re purchase. I look forward to using the multi active day/night cream I purchased at duty free, once my Dermologica cream runs out.

Mascara -Max Factor - False Lash Effect Waterproof
rated 3 of 5
n5357 7/3/2011 12:57:00 AM

I normally love Max Factor mascaras but was a little disappointed in this one. It goes on nicely and I found the brush easier to use then I thought I would. It gave good coverage and gave my lashes a nice long look. I was impressed with how non clumpy this made my lashes, they looked very natural and the colour was not too dark (some black mascaras can look a little harsh on me). It does last me all day, however, after a couple of hours when I go to the mirror I end up with black smudges all under my eyes - not the look I'm going for. For that reason, i wouldn't buy it again.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
n5357 2/6/2011 12:15:00 PM

My skin has gone (due to age) from oily to combination oily and now seems to be a true combination type (I get an oily T zone but thirsty everywhere else). I therefore had to adapt my skin care routine. I found dermalogica good for my skin since my early 20s. I've now switched to using this as a cleaner. Sometimes I use at night but always in the morning. Of an evening I tend to cleanse with Ultra calming cleanser at the moment of a night and follow with this in the morning. This routine definitely seems to suit my new skin type and leaves me clearer and glowing (I'm prone to open pores and spots if I neglect my skin). This cleans my skin leaving it feeling fresh, clean and clear without being drying or too moisturising. I've recently used the regenerist one for a few days but that did not seem to make my skin quite so clean and I got a few spots. Straight back to Special cleansing gel and clear skin again. Yes, it's expensive but you really need just the smallest drop and I find a 250ml bottle lasts me 6-9 months. So all in all it's actually for the usage not too bad price wise at all.

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Skin Smoothing Cream
rated 4 of 5
n5357 2/6/2011 12:08:00 PM

I have been a Dermalogica fan for some time. I began using Active Moist, which I still like. It really suited my combination to oily skin type. However, over about the last year or so (beginning to approach my 30s) my skin is still oil prone during the day but gets thirsty or dehydrated. Skin smoothing cream really helps. It actually helps keep some of the oil away (active moist was beginning to encourage more oil as it was working overtime as it was no longer suitable for my skin). My skin is rehydrated, the cream is not greasy or oily, it's the perfect medium weight cream I need. A little goes a long way so it's worth it's price compared to the high street brands. Overall a good cream which does what it says on the tube. I've given it a 4 as I do wish it had a sun block in, but I get around this by using a booster.

Treatments -Clinique - Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector
rated 5 of 5
n5357 6/3/2010 5:47:00 PM

I am prone to sun spots and for a while now have had some dark spots on my forehead. These got worse recently thanks to a holiday where I stupidly did not keep my hat on as much as I know I should. I brought this hoping it would work and it's been a God send. I use one pump twice a day on the affected area and a further pump on the remainder of my face. I have seen an incredible improvement since I began to use it at the end of April. I noticed a mild change after about 4 weeks and suddenly in the last few days there's a big change. The bottle is long lasting, I'm still only half way through my first bottle. I think with proper use and better sense to protect my vulnerable skin in future will help erase these dark patches so that they're no longer visible to the naked eye. I highly recommend this. It worked for me, so am surprised at the more negative reviews. It sinks it well into my combo skin. I've had no break outs and no added shine throughout the day.

Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
n5357 1/2/2010 8:18:00 AM

I've used this product for a number of years. I recently strayed to a Bobbi Brown foundatin, whilst that is okay, having used a sachet of my old fav Superfit I realise how superior Superfit is and how it is my HG product. I use Petal. It gives a great coverage without looking caked on, it just melts into my skin and looks natural. I also use their pressed powder. Keeps shine away to a good standard (I normally just top up powder at lunch time and again in the afternoon if I'm off somewhere else other then home). Everyone's skin is different but for my combo skin ( alittle dry in winter but get oily on t zone and oily in summer) this seems to suit what I need and want from a foundation perfectly. Packaging is strong but a little boring in my opinion. Price is comparative to other high end brands but this last me ages considering I use it every day (just a faint application and deeper application for nights out). Worth a try and I will not stray again.

Sunscreen -Dermalogica - Oil-free Matte Block Spf 20
rated 4 of 5
n5357 9/19/2009 8:17:00 AM

I tried this a while ago after being happy with Active Moist but needing a cream with an SPF as I was moving overseas and also beginning to think about preventing signs of ageing. I found this product okay. It protected against the sun better then anything I've tried before on my face and my face certainly wasn't as oily as most screens would leave me. It also didn't clog my skin and cause congestion. I did look shiny but let's face it, I always will with no added shine help from make up and after lying in the sun for half an hour! But as a moisturiser it sucked. I tried loads of other moisturisers with spf since, but am yet to fall in love with one. However, recently I discussed this with my beauty therapist who recommended I use this (or sheer tint which also has an SPF) on top of Active Moist (or my normal moisturiser) as these products are meant as boosters or top ups for moisturisers. I have tried this and by god she's was right. It's perfect. My skin is matt, hydrated and protected. I think the fact I have to buy two products and the price (although they both last me around 8 months) means that I can't stretch to give this product 5 lippies, but it certainly gets my vote of 4.

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Active Moist
rated 4 of 5
n5357 9/19/2009 8:05:00 AM

I used to use this product a couple of years ago, but switched to find something oil free and with an SPF as I was moving overseas where it was sunny all year round and I was also starting to worry about the first signs of ageing. However, most products I've tried have left me with over oily and very congested skin. I have gone back to using this and now regret ever leaving it. I have oily-combination skin, which can be dry in winter in the UK, however this leaves my skin hydrated, soft, refined and feeling great. Whilst I do not find this product mattifying, I do find that I get a lot less oily then with any other oil free products I've tried. My congestion is clearing up. It is a little pricey but a large bottle will last me a good 8 months, when comparing this to the price and lasting ability of other brands then there is little between them cost wise for me. Also my skin looks so much nicer which adds to my self confidence no end, what price I wouldn't pay for that after always being unhappy with my skin for the majority of my life time! I've also starting using the oil free matt block spf 15 on top of Active Moist, recommended by my beautician. This helps give me the spf coverage I'm after, along with more mattifying qualities and Antioxidants. I've tried using the matt block alone and it's okay, but I personally do find using it with Active Moist gives a much better. I've given only 4 stars as I'd like it to have an SPF .

Shampoo -TRESemme - COLOR THRIVE
rated 3 of 5
n5357 10/2/2008 2:58:00 PM

I had high hopes for this shampoo and condition. On day 1 of washing my hair with this product my hair looks great, very shiny but by evening and then the following day my hair looks extremely greasy. Greasy hair is not normally a problem for me and I can get away with washing my locks every two days. Not a bad shampoo but not a great one either
