Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15

I buy it in NC42 and use it year round. It's the HG foundation for me. Most days I use it as a tinted moisturizer. How? I put about 75% facial sunscreen and then 25% Studio Fix, mix it well and voila, tinted moisturizer. I also use it as a concealer. On the days I feel I need something more, I use it full strength applying with E.L.F.'s flat top powder brush. It stays put for a good amount of time with minimal touch up on my oily t-zone. I can't see life without this foundation!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

Meh, just meh. Considering the price, I was hoping for so much more. I do like how it doesn't flake (even after 1.5 hours of sweating at the gym!) and I guess it's a bit volumizing, but that's it.

Hair -L'Oreal - Preference True Brunettes

Used 2 boxes of Ultra Light Ash Brown last night to dye my plain black Asian hair. It's been over 5 years since I last dyed my hair so I was nervous. I followed the 2nd set of directions (the one where you dye your roots LAST) and it turned out great! I'm surprised how much it lightened my hair AND it didn't damage my hair as much as expected. In fact, my hair didn't feel much more frizzy/dryer than usual. It did bring out brassy tones and that is my I'm rating it a 4 instead of a 5. I did use the included conditioner. My hair is long so I used half the tube and put on a disposable shower cap. I left the conditioner on for at least 5 minutes while I showered so my hair really absorbed the conditioner. I plan on doing this conditioning routine every time I shampoo to combat dryness. I used a little over 1.5 boxes of dye to completely saturate my long layered hair (it goes almost half way down my back). I spent less that $15 which is very cheap compared to what it would've cost me if I had gone to a salon. Overall I'm happy with it! BTW- I added a picture up on the product photos so you can see how my hair turned out. I'm the one in the melon shirt looking down.

Mascara -Avon - Wash off Waterproof mascara
rated 4 of 5

Tested this mascara today at a waterpark. Now this did minimal lengthening and volumizing by it did stay on all day with very little flaking and absolutely no running. Wooo, a waterproof mascara that doesn't give me raccoon eyes or make me look like I splattered black stuff all over my eyes! When I got home I washed it off using my regular Alpha Hydrox face wash and most of it did come off. Considering the how this cost pretty much the same as your drugstore mascaras, I'm impressed! I will be purchasing it again once I'm out.

Polishes -Essie - Turquoise & Caicos (Resort 2010)

I LOVE the color. This wasn't streaky (unlike quite of the new Essie's I've purchased) but it is VERY sheer. It takes at least 3 coats to get it opaque. Very pretty and lasts a long time on my toes partnered with Orly Rubberized base coat and then Seche Vite as the top coat.

Not bad for a drugstore brand! It lengthens my short lashes with hardly any clumping. I found that it will clump after 4 coats so I stick to 3. It one of the best drugstore mascaras I've tried so far.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Blush 831D Pearlescent Pink
rated 5 of 5
myhoneyhoney 7/8/2011 2:01:00 AM

I really like this blush! It's cheap, it's highly pigmented, and it stays on a fairly long time. The color is very close to NARS Orgasm. It's a warm pink and looks wonderful on my NC42 tone.

I really like this trio. It's highly pigmented and it's CHEAP! It's lasts a long time on my eyes without primer. If this was waterproof I'd be doing cartwheel!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - First Kiss
rated 2 of 5

The application was ok, nothing great. It is somewhat streaky and needs at least 3 coats to get completely even. What i found weird is how it gets all gummy after swimming! I applied the polish the night before I went to the water park. After just a bit of swimming, I noticed it was looking matte instead of shiny. I'm not sure if all the sunblock I put on got to it or what but it was definitely sticky feeling. I reapplied today and put Seche Vite top coat. I plan on taking a dip in the pool soon so we'll see if a top coat will make a difference. I do love the color but don't know if I will repurchase. I will see if I can find a matching color in another brand.

Polishes -Essie - Van d'Go

Booo. This polish was thick, goopy, and streaky. I've been polishing my own nails for 25 years now and this is one of the worst that I've encountered. It says a lot when I have an easier time applying Revlon Top Speed than this. Sad... I love Essie colors but the past 3 bottles I've purchased from them have ALL been thick, goopy, and streaky. Considering these are costing me $8 per bottle I expected something better. I don't think I'll be purchasing Essie brand for a while. BTW, I bought 3 Essie bottles on one Ulta visit (all three will be returned) so I'm going to copy/past this review because everything I've just typed down is my exact same experience with the other two.

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
rated 4 of 5
myhoneyhoney 7/1/2011 10:54:00 PM

I've had this for a week now. I did have problems getting the correct color at first. I'm NC42 and the sales people at MAC kept insisting that I use C6 which was too dark for me. It looked like I went bronzer happy and honestly, I'm dark enough as it is so why on earth would I want a bronzer gone crazy look?! I finally went back to the MAC store for the 3rd time and insisted on getting the C5 which, as I always thought it would be... perfect. I've had it on all day in 85 degree weather and it's stayed on just fine. I have combo skin and while my t-zone could use a little bit of blotting, that's all that is needed. I've been BY the pool with the kids splashing me and the foundation didn't come off so it looks like it's water resistant enough. Tomorrow I will be at an amusement/water park and see how this holds up after that. If stays on, well, I'll have to bump this up to a 5 rating. My application: I washed my face, put on spf15 Olay moisturizer and let it soak in. I then applied this with a stippling brush, waited a couple of minutes and then reapplied some more where I needed more coverage. While it didn't completely cover my freckles (or, gasp, age spots!) it did cover my dark under eye circles, slightly reddish nose, and fading acne scars. I was worried about what other reviewers have mentioned about a tacky feel but I don't really feel that. It feels just fine on my face after a long hot California day. I like how much product you get for the price. Overall, I'll probably be purchasing this again once it runs out unless the MUFE Face and Body beats it out (I'll have to try that one next).

Mascara -NYX - Doll Eye - Water Proof - Extreme Black
rated 3 of 5
myhoneyhoney 6/7/2011 12:41:00 AM

**editing this review** I've downgraded this to a 3. While it did survive some splashing, it didn't survive full out hanging out in the wave pool with the family. At the end of the day it was nothing but flakes. Too bad. :( I'm still searching for my HG waterproof mascara. I put this on for a day at the water park with hubby and kids and it worked well! No smearing or flaking at all. I wish it would lengthen my lashes more, but it's ok and I'm happy I didn't come out of the park with raccoon eyes. In fact it still looked just fine when it was time to take it off in the shower that night. It came off perfectly with the Neutrogena eye make up remover. Over all I'm happy with it, it's the best waterproof mascara I've used so far.

Powder -Neutrogena - Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5
myhoneyhoney 10/22/2010 12:47:00 AM

I've been using this for about a week now and I like it. I have combo skin and this works fine for both my dry and oily area. The first time I used this I did a test. I brushed it over my bare face and promptly did my Tae bo work out. After sweating through a 30 minute workout, this sucker was still on my face! I couldn't believe it. The shade matched my skin color very well and I have a hard time finding a foundation that does because I'm a darker Filipina. I'm only gripe, I HATE how the mirror is under the power. Very annoying when applying to have to flip back and forth. I have now idea who thought that would be a good idea. To me it seems like this would make it more prone to breaking/cracking the powder with all the flipping! I also wish it came with a brush instead of a sponge. Overall I like it, in fact, I plan on buying another one tomorrow to keep in my purse!
