Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes

ULTA was having a sale on this mascara so I purchased it for only $10. I believe it retails for $18. The formula is prety dry, which is what I prefer. It makes my fine lashes thicker with some added length. I thought the black pigment could be a little more intense. I tend to use this mascara for my everyday look. If I'm going out I need something with a a little more oomph. It tends to flake after a few hours of wearing and it definitely doesn't last all day. Packaging was ok, seems like there isn't much in that skinny tube. Was worth the sale price but I won't be repurchasing. I will continue my hunt for the perfect mascara!

Lips -Tarte - Achiote Lipsurgence
musicat 2/8/2013 11:26:00 PM
Just bought this today at Sephora. AMAZING! This is first time I've ever tried the Lipsurgence from Tarte. It is a bit overpriced but after reading some great reviews I just had to try it and I'm so glad I did! The texture is light and buttery and it stays on for a good while. I was expecting the Achiote color to be more pink, but I still love it. I would describe it as a coral color with more orange and red tones. I thought it was very pigmented and that made me happy since I had heard that the lipsurgence was sheer. You can also layer for more color if you like. I also like that the chubby pencil is so easy to work with. I will definitely be purchasing one in another color, if my budget allows me to do so!

Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil

Got this in one of my glam bags. I have dry, flaky, sensitive skin and this has made my skin so soft and its not greasy at all. My skins texture is much smoother now and not flaky. A great moisturizer for the cold winter months! Only downside is the outrageous price of the big bottle. I just keep buying the little one for $14 at Sephora. It lasts me long enough.

Concealers -Tarte - Maracuja creaseless concealer
musicat 2/8/2013 11:16:00 PM
I have been using this concealer for a few weeks and I absolutely love it! I have some fine lines under and around my eyes and I was having major creasing with other concealers, mainly MAC studio tech. I wasn't sure about the sticky consistency of this product but it works great. I put it on in the morning and by night still no creases! You do need to be careful about how you apply it, dab a tiny dot only, and layer as needed. Of course the less product you use, the better. I have really dark circles and I found the coverage to be good enough. I use about two layers. May only concern is how it will hold up in the summer in heat, but until then this is my new go to concealer!

Mascara -TheBalm - The Body Builder
musicat 12/10/2012 6:43:00 PM
I received a sample of this mascara in my October Glam Bag. I wasn't sure about it after the first use, but after a day or two I really liked it. It gives some body, but a lot of length, which is what I really need. I really like the brush, its small and makes it easier for me to do my lower lashes and inner corner lashes. It doesn't flake and lasts for most of the day. I only gave it 4 stars because I think if you load it on it will get a little clumpy, so watch out. I got the best results doing multiple layers all at once instead of waiting in between. I ordered a full size on cyber monday for 40%. Definitely worth it! Just wishing theBalm was available in stores like Sephora since I'm not too crazy about paying for shipping.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
musicat 11/29/2012 10:00:00 PM
I'm obsessed with getting doll-like lashes so when I saw this mascara on HSN, I could not wait and ran over to Macy's to buy it. It was very disappointing. I didn't expect a full on doll lash because I know you pretty much have to use falsies if you really want that look. However, I thought this would come close and it did not. It's gloppy if you don't use the right technique. When you do use the right technique you get baby fine lashes that are barely there. This mascara is also way too fragrant, just like every other product from Lancome. Why do they insist on everything smelling like roses? I feel like I'm living in the Hunger Games and President Snow is running Lancome. My eyes are very sensitive and the smelliness just made them water. To top it off, after maybe 2 hrs of wearing I experienced major flakiness. Definitely never buying ever again. I think I'll just have to get some good false eye lashes for that doll look. BTW, a good alternative is the Balm's Body Builder mascara, lengthens and gives fullness without clumps.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia

If you have bought this product and think that its wrecking your skin, wait a good 2-3 weeks before you give up! I started using the Clarisonic Mia 2 weeks ago. I have sensitive and dry skin with a lot a of blackheads. I used the sensitive brush for a two days, then switched to the regular brush because I felt that the sensitive one was too weak. When I first starting using it, my skin felt great and super soft, but my black heads and minor zits seemed to get worse. I realized my skin was probably purging, but it wasn't horrible so I kept using it anyway. By the end of week two I saw MAJOR improvements. My blackheads are now barely there, my pores are smaller, I have no zits at all and my overall skin tone is much brighter. I haven't tried the Clarisonic cleanser that they give you with the package, I use Mario Badescu cream soap for sensitive skin. My products do absorb better and my make-up goes on easier. I'm am very pleased with this product. Even though ti was expensive, it was definitely worth it and I feel that it lives up to the hype. I did notice one issue with it, like others have said the brush never seems to really dry, and mine always smells mildewy the next day, so I used a little soap and water to clean it every time before I use it and that seems to take care of it and remove any excess make-up/dirt it picked up from the last use. I should also mention that I only use it at night, after I have removed my make-up. I don't really think its necessary to use it twice daily.

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
musicat 5/29/2012 9:23:00 PM
I love this foundation! The first day I tried it I received many compliments on my skin. I bought it in light and also bought the brush. I have very dry and sensitive skin and yes my skin did flake at first, but if you prep it with moisturizer and use a good primer(I use makeupforever HD) it will be fine.It has a nice satin finish and I don't wear any powder with it. I have worn this foundation in 90 degree weather for about 12 hours and I never had to touch up. It also doesn't clog my pores and it makes them less apparent. I was using MAC select cover-up before and that would always come off and make my pores look bigger. I read some of the reviews that said it looks cakey and unatural, but mine looks very natural and not made up. I found that when I tried using my fingers to put it on it did look a little cakey so make sure you buy the brush! The brush really helps with blending and making it more even. I will definitely be buying this product again and again!
