Masks -LUSH - Catastrophe Cosmetic

This product is the best for flakey winter skin. I first bought it a couple of years ago when my skin was so dry that it hurt to raise my eyebrows. I now buy it every winter. It clears my skin up withing a few applications. It is so soothing, but you can feel it lifting your dry skin away as you wipe it off. I apply quite thickly, but don't leave it on until it is completely dry. Then in the shower I wet my hands, pat my face with the water, and start to wipe it off. I find this is the best way to get rid of flakey skin. The smell is a little strong but I don't mind it. I love the little bits of blueberries in it and the strong purple colour. Some people may balk at the inclusion of talc, but I've never had problems with clogging because of this mask, in fact, my pores look better after application. I find the talc helps with exfoliation. I would recommend this mask to anyone with flakey skin, whether you are oily or dry.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Space Girl Bath Bomb
rated 5 of 5

I've bought this bath bomb again and again. It's one of my favourites. It has a delightful fruity scent that is calming and refreshing at the same time. The scent lasts on your skin post bath, and it left my skin feeling moisturised. The bomb makes the water a beautiful purple colour with a hint of glittery goodness.

Moisturizers -LUSH - Gorgeous
rated 5 of 5

I got this moisturiser for half price. I've wanted to try it for ages, but baulked at the price. And now... I'm hooked. It's a heavier moisturiser, and I was a bit apprehensive but it hasn't broken me out or clogged me at all. In fact, when I apply it at night, in the morning my skin is matte, bright and clear. My pores have decreased in size and my skin is soft and smooth. It takes a while for it to sink in, but I don't really find this to be an issue as I use it mainly at night. If I put it on in the morning, I just top it with translucent powder and I'm ready to go. This is the most impressive moisturiser I've tried for a long time, and I will definitely buy it again, even at full price.

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Silk Stockings Solid Body Tint
rated 4 of 5
mule84 1/7/2012 3:45:00 AM

This is an interesting product that can be used in a few different ways. It can be used as a regular massage/moisturising bar, as a body tint to even skin tone, or as a cream blush. I love using it on my face to give a subtle glow to my cheeks. it doesn't clog or break me out. The smell is a light vanillary scent that isn't at all overwhelming. I find as a body tint it doesn't last very long or absorb very well. I probably won't buy this again, but it's a good product with a bit of novelty value.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Ceridwen's Cauldron
rated 5 of 5
mule84 1/7/2012 2:30:00 AM

I've used this a couple of times and find it moisturising, soothing and relaxing. I pop the melt under the tap as the water runs into the bath to melt the moisturising bar, then let it float around me as I relax in the milky water. Towards the end of the bath I moosh up whatever is left in the material and use it as a light exfoliating cloth over my arms and legs. After the bath, my skin feels incredibly soft and moisturised. The oats sooth any redness or itchy flair ups I might have.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Gingerbread House bubble bar
rated 5 of 5
mule84 1/7/2012 2:02:00 AM

This is my favourite Christmas product and I look forward to it every year. It creates great, meringue type bubbles with just half a bar and the smell is just divine. The smell is a traditional gingerbread type scent. Sweet and spicy at the same time. Not sickly, and it won't leave you smelling like a curry. The smells lasts on your skin for ages and mixes well with vanilla scented body lotions. I would recommend this to anyone who likes foody type scents, or gingerbread cookies :-)

Treatments -Artistry - Essentials Moisture Plus
rated 5 of 5
mule84 9/12/2011 8:51:00 AM

I bought this product with the hope that it would help with my flakey winter skin. It worked wonders!! Just a light pat of product a couple of nights in a row made my skin soft and moisturised. It is a mixture of different fruit and seed oils, and you apply it after moisturiser. I use 3 drops spread between my finger tips and pat it gently on my face, including around my eyes. I then smooth it around. The packaging is great. It's a small, screw top bottle, with an eyedropper applicator. It's plastic, not glass, but it looks lovely on the vanity. I would recommend this to people with dry skin, or people with skin that reacts badly to the colder and dryer weather. I don't think I'll be able to use this year round, but it's great when I need it. It has no smell, and while it does leave an oily feel, your skin doesn't feel coated or smothered (as long as you only use a small amount). I apply it at night and cleanse any residue off in the morning. I will definitely buy this again!

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Lip Service Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
mule84 6/6/2011 1:39:00 AM

The problem I've had with lip balms in the past is that they don't actually HEAL my lips. They soften, but if they're already dry and flaky and disgusting, they don't really correct the problem. Lip Service corrects the problem. 2 days ago my lips were dry and disgusting. Now they are soft and flake free. Lip Service applies matte, and has no white cast. It's great under lipstick/gloss or on its own. It is a little hard in the tin, but some brisk rubbing gets up enough product to apply. The best is if you can carry it in a pocket and let the heat from your body warm the product up a little. I do this at work: carry it around in my pocket and apply it as necessary. I actually like that it is a more solid product, because it means that I don't apply too much or get my finger all mucky with excess product. And it doesn't get under my nails :-) I'm not a huge fan of the smell, which is why I've knocked a mark off, but it doesn't hang around. I can only smell it as I'm applying it. I often have trouble with strongly scented lip balms giving me a headache, but this doesn't occur with this product. The packaging is good. A sturdy metal screw top tin. It is nice and compact and fits easily in my pocket. I will definitely buy this product again, especially during winter as it really heals and helps my lips.

Masks -LUSH - Mask of Magnaminty
rated 3 of 5
mule84 3/14/2011 9:42:00 PM

This product is nice to use and feels lovely on the skin, but I find it doesn't really do much. It's cooling due to the mint, but my skin didn't really benefit from it. It didn't cause anything bad, but it also didn't really clean out my pores or tighten my skin at all. I don't suffer from acne, so I can't say if it improves this or not. If you put it on too thickly and leave it for too long it is a little hard to get off. It gets a little dry towards the end of the pot. I just put a little water in it and it was fine. I won't buy this product again because I find the fresh face masks better for my skin because I can choose one tailored specifically for what I want to treat at the time.

Highlighters -MAC - Beauty Powder in Play It Proper
rated 5 of 5
mule84 1/16/2011 4:42:00 AM

This is a beautifully soft, glowing powder. I used it for the first time the other night and it gave a lovely light to my cheeks. I applied a pink blush and a darker contour powder and then used this as a highlighter and to blend it out softly. I want to try this powder lightly all over my face with my regular sheerish powder over the top. I think it would give a 'lit from within' glow. I would recommend this powder to pale girls with a pinkish skin tone. It is really easy to apply and pretty fool proof.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Mrs. Whippy Bath Bomb
rated 5 of 5
mule84 1/4/2011 6:42:00 AM

This is my current favourite bath bomb. It's wonderfully fizzy and creates a slight foam (that quickly dissipates). Because of the soy milk powder and the pink colouring the water is left a cloudy pink. It's not the most attractive colour, but it works. The scent is absolutely wonderful. Five out of five. I don't get a strong blast of strawberry from it, but a creamy musk scent with a slight strawberry note. Much softer than butterball and much more intricate. The scent fills the bathroom and lasts for ages on the skin. My skin is very soft afterwards, but not amazingly moisturized. Definitely strokable, though :-) I will definitely buy this again.

Shampoo -LUSH - soak 'n' float shampoo bar
rated 5 of 5
mule84 12/26/2010 7:13:00 AM

I bought this product in an attempt to control my flaky scalp. Recently (whether due to the warm, humid weather, or because of my usual hair products) I have had an increased flakes. NOT ATTRACTIVE!!! I thought about this product, but thought that the smell might be too much for me. When I used it the first time I was horrified to find that my hair smelled like a campfire as it dried. The next morning, though, the smell was gone and so were most of my flakies. My hair was left beautifully soft and shiny, and my curls were sitting nicely. I have used it regularly since then and the smell has decreased, but its effectiveness hasn't. It really is the best thing I've ever used for dandruff. Better than any chemical/medicated shampoo that I've tried. It has also made my ends less dry. If your hair has a lot of build up or oil, I recommend washing twice, as the shampoo won't later very well the first time. I love the fact that it's solid and I believe that it will last me an age. I store the shampoo in an old black lush container to control the smell, but after I use it I leave it out to dry. If you have dandruff I would highly recommend you try this product. Try to ignore the very strong smell, because the result more than makes up for it.

Scrubs -LUSH - Buffy the Backside Slayer
rated 4 of 5
mule84 6/1/2010 2:58:00 AM

This is a very effective scrub. I love using it on my legs before or after shaving. I always use a shower puff and soap after this because it leaves a thick waxy build up (which I don't like). Doing it this way leaves my skin lovely and soft with only a slight, moisturising film left over. This waxiness, however, means that it doesn't get used up quickly, and it doesn't dissolve in the shower. I keep mine on my shower rack (out of direct spray, of course) and it hasn't decreased in size at all from this. I would definitely buy this again, but I don't think I'll have to for a while.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF20
rated 2 of 5
mule84 1/20/2010 10:38:00 AM

I'm sorry, I just can't get this to work for me. This foundation has glowing reviews, but it's not for me. I purchased this foundation after trying it on instore and liking what I saw. In practice, though... it's a different kettle of fish. I find that it is difficult to apply. I found that the best way is to either moisturise, or spray my face with Fix+, put one pump on my fingers and dab and blend it lightly (VERY lightly) onto my face. This gives a satisfactory finish. At worst, when applying with a foundation brush, or a stippling brush, I find it is impossible to blend and very very cakey. It tends to highlight any flakies I have (and I have oily skin) and it clings to the teeny hairs on my face. I also find it difficult to blend, perhaps because it dries quiet quickly. In photos my skin looks nice, but in real life after a while the foundation tends to migrate into pores and any dry spots you may have. Try this for yourself, because it obviously works for a great number of people, but I would suggest definitely wearing this foundation out of the store before purchasing, because it looks very different in real life...

Mascara -Giorgio Armani - Eyes to Kill
rated 5 of 5
mule84 1/10/2010 7:53:00 AM

Oh Eyes To Kill, where have you been all my life?! This is, for me, a perfect mascara. It lengthens, it volumises, it holds curl. It doesn't clump, it doesn't flaken (even after an eight hour shift at work). The black is very black (if that makes sense), the brush is sublime (it isn't perfectly round: it has short bristles and long bristles which kind of makes the brush oval shaped. I find that this allows me to coat all my lashes and separates them really nicely). I guess it's a bit pricey, but no more so than a YSL or Dior mascara. The packaging is nice, feels really weighty in your hand and it clicks shut firmly (make sure you get the click when you screw the cap on otherwise it might dry out). Would I buy this again? DEFINITELY! Ok, my gushing is over :-)
