Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector [DISCONTINUED]

Love it! I bought this solely based on MUA reviews as well as cosmetics cop's review, in the Light shade, and I am so impressed. This is the first concealer I've ever used that actually works--instead of leaving a big noticable orange blob over a blemish, it actually covers it up! I was a little skeptical about the cool, almost pinkish hue of the highlighter (my skin tone is warm and olive-y), but somehow it works and really makes the dark lines under my eyes disappear. You do have to blend the concealer immediately after applying it, but I don't see that as a problem, as really you're only applying a little bit a time. Plus, whatever makes the concealer set quickly is also what seems to give it it's staying power. And stay it does. This stuff really resists creasing, although I do admit that at the end of the day, if I look really closely in the mirror, I can see tiny furrows where the concealer and highlighter have settled (from squinting, laughing, etc). But really, I think that's the kind of thing only I would notice. Frankly, I didn't realize how badly I looked until I found something that could make me look so much better! Maybelline calls it the Face Perfector, I call it my new best friend.

Skincare - Body -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula jar

I bought this to combat the irritated and itchy skin that comes with pregnancy. Although I realize that stretch marks during pregnancy are determined more by genetics than anything else, I'm also hoping this will help prevent stretch marks (my sister used this during her pregnancy and avoided getting stretch marks). I just scrape some out with my fingernail, rub it between my palms, and slather it on my belly, sides, and boobs after I shower in the morning. Although it seems really thick, it absorbs well into my skin, and leaves a light, soothing barrier (I, for one, like this!). I enjoy the chocolate-y, cocoa-y fragrance. The moisturizing effects last all day and night. Further, this doesn't irritate my sensitive pregnant skin. I'm very satisfied with this product and have already bought a second, larger tub.

Toners -Marcelle - Aquarelle Oil free Tonifying lotion
rated 5 of 5
msor 2/2/2006 9:06:00 AM

This is a preliminary review, as I just bought this yesterday and have only used it 2 times. First, I have to say how happy I am to FINALLY find a moderately priced drug-store brand of toner that does not contain alcohol, oil, or salicylic acid, as all of those ingredients irritate my oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I really like that this contains witch hazel and aloe vera juice, which are so soothing to skin. I use this after cleansing, and it leaves my skin feeling soothed, smooth, and refreshed. It does not dry my skin at all. It remains to be seen if this will help clear my acne, but whether or not it does, I will continue to use it. Yet another wonderful Marcelle product!

Powders -Marcelle - Face Powder
rated 5 of 5

I have the pressed powder in Translucent medium. After stupidly caving for the lower prices of Cover Girl pressed powders for years, I finally realized that I could get a far superior product for only a slightly higher price ($9.21 CDN on sale). This stuff provides great coverage, and you only have to use a very little (do not overload the applicator pad--a dab or two will do!). It lasts all day on my very oily skin, which really impresses me. I also like that they offer translucent shades, which work great with my hard-to-match olive-toned skin. You are given a generous amount in a sleek (though slightly heavy) compact, with a nice big mirror. The more I buy Marcelle, the more I like this line of products!

I used to think this stuff was okay...until I found Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector. I've been converted.

Cleansers -Marcelle - Cleansing Milk for Combination Skin
rated 4 of 5

I am very happy with this product and would definitely repurchase (after I try out the Aquarelle Oil-Free cleanser, which received good reviews here). This product seems to control the oil for the oily parts of my face, and does not dry out the dry parts. It is gentle, rinses completely, and doesn't seem to cause break outs for my acne prone, sensitive skin. It is reasonably priced (about $10 CAD, and often on sale), and you get a generous amount. It would be nice if it came in a pump-style package, but other than that I have no complaints. I have been consistently pleased with every Marcelle product I have purchased, and this is no exception.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Glazewear - ALL SHADES
rated 5 of 5
msor 10/21/2004 9:59:00 AM

I bought 5 of these (they were on sale for $3 each, how could I resist?) on the strength of the reviews here, and I am happy to say that I am not disappointed!! The color goes on smoothly and evenly, and my lips look so plump and full when I wear this. My favorite color so far is Rosebud, but I'm eager to try others. The color also lasts surprisingly long--because it feels so sheer and light like lipgloss, I was expecting it to wear off quickly like lipgloss. But it doesn't--it stays put until touch up time. I highly recommend this product and will definitely be buying more.

Treatments (Eye) -Marcelle - Hydra-C ComplexE Eye Contour Gel-Cream
rated 5 of 5
msor 10/21/2004 9:43:00 AM

This is a preliminary review, since I've only been using the product for a week. I was looking for my first eye cream to diminish dark circles, puffiness, and wrinklies; and to moisturize my sensitive eye area. The quality I love about it most so far is that I can put it on right after I wash my face, and it doesn't sting. In fact, it feels soothing and good. My first little wrinklies are less noticable. I still have some dark circles and puffiness, but it doesn't seem as bad. I love the pump dispenser and I love the price--it is only $18, and there are often 25% off sales. I'll keep using to see if my dark circles and puffiness reduce as promised.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel
rated 4 of 5

I bought this to use as a facial moisturizer after I started acne.org's Regimen. I've only been using it for 3 days (morning and night after BP application), and my skin looks gorgeous! My pores are small, my skin is smooth, with a matte-but-not-dry appearance. My blemishes are quickly disappearing. This does make my skin feel a little tight and sticky while it is absorbing, but after that my skin feels great. I'm very happy with it and impressed with the price. UPDATE: I have also used this mixed up with baking soda as an exfoliating scrub/cleanser on my body in the shower, and it makes my skin feel like buttah. Still lovin' it.

BAKING SODA=GREAT SKIN!! I found out about this on Paula's website, then hiked myself down to the bulk food store and bought a big bag of it. I use it once or twice a week, mixed with SpectroJel cleanser, on my face. AND, it doubles as my body cleanser--I mix it the same way as for facial cleansing, then gently scrub each part of my body, then moisturize after my shower. My skin is so soft and so smooth!! You definitely have to be gentle when scrubbing, especially on the face...I recommend using slow circular motions. LOVE THIS STUFF!!

Rec'd this as a gift along with a flame control topper (so the wick stays short and there is no black smoke), what a great gift!! It smells so good...fresh and sunny, not a bit perfumey. It brightened up my one bedroom apt. fantastically! I'll definitely go buy my own now...after I try the other scents...

Conditioner -Got 2 Be - Emergency Repair Creme (so smooth, one minute)
rated 5 of 5
msor 9/1/2004 11:11:00 AM

I bought this product to use as a weekly hair mask to prevent dryness and split ends (not to repair existing damage). I am really pleased with the results. I would shampoo my hair in the shower, then squeeze out all the excess water, slather a huge amount of this through my hair, clip it up, put a shower cap on, wrap my head in a towel, then leave it in for 5-20 minutes. I did this mask treatment once a week and used it as a regular in-shower conditioner whenever I shampooed. My hair has been soft, shiny, and really healthy--even my hair stylist remarked about how healthy it is. Definitely a huge departure from the split ends and dryness that I used to have. I'm definitely buying this again.

The label of the bottle describes this as "Positivity"...that's what I think when I wear it--it is perky and strong. I received this as a gift and at first I didn't like it--found it a bit heavy--but then I grew used to it. It lasts about half a day on me.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pleasures

I received this as a gift, so I can't rate the price. It's okay--not great and not bad. I like that the scent is light and fresh and floral, rather than heavy or musky. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a floral gal, so it feels a little artificial to me--when I use this I feel like I'm wearing perfume, rather than feeling like I have great smelling skin. My DH hates the scent.
