I so love this palette!!! The colors are so beautiful. Shimmery pigmented pinky peach and orange shades. Matte reddish pinks. Gorgeous brownish greys for the crease. Sandstone is beautiful as a matte highlight. Bonus: Persimmon and tangelo make lovely orangey blushes!

Foundations -Posner - Cover Stick Foundation
rated 5 of 5
msmonmakeup 4/26/2011 10:13:00 PM

I have only been using this product for a week, but I am really impressed. It's already hot in my area (in the upper 80s) and I really don't want to slather foundation on my whole face. I usually don't even wear moisturizer on my face in the summer time. But of course, I still want coverage for some areas. I think this is it! I bought this cover stick in medium (I am NC 45). I have been dabbing the stick on the areas where I need coverage, then blending with my fingers. I only build up the areas that need it. After my blemishes are covered, I power my face with Revlon Colorstay powder. I have examined my face in several different lights: outside in sunshine, at work, under fluorescents, and am really impressed with how natural this looks on me. I blot my t-zone during the day, reapply powder all over, but I have not needed to touch up the areas on which I used Posner cover stick (cheeks and jaw).

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad - Not Just Nudes
rated 5 of 5
msmonmakeup 4/18/2011 12:47:00 PM

I have been using this brand of cream shadows for years. I can't remember when I bought Not Just Nudes, but the quad has lasted a long time. I mostly use the darkest shade and the middle two shades. Why I love them: I use these over UDPP to create a sticky base for pigments and shadows that are sort of powdery ("flecky" is a better description). The cream shadow helps the powder or pigment to adhere to the lid. This set of shades gives an even matte or shimmer foundation for shadows. The darker brown (which I love the most), really makes green, copper, gold and brown shadows pop. They don't crease on me and my shadow still looks great after a long day of work and school. I just bought two more on ebay.

Palettes -Sleek - Graphite
rated 5 of 5

I waivered about buying this palette thinking "How many silver/gray eyeshadows can one woman need?" But I am glad I bought this palette! It was part of a lot with 2 other palettes and other Sleek stuff on ebay. There isn't as much variety in shade as with other Sleek palettes, but I love the shadows that are in it. There is a lovely midnight blue, pretty purples and several shades of silver and gray. The second shade from the left is my favorite of the two highlight shades. I've gotten lots of compliments already.

Palettes -Sleek - Storm Palette
rated 5 of 5

I love, love, love this palette! I have 4 other Sleek palettes, but this is one that I can use everyday. Perfect for days when I want to stay neutral, but you can also smoke it up with the darker colors for more dramatic looks. I get so many compliments from the looks I create with this palette. I really like the lighter matte shade (3rd from the left) as a blending color and as a transition color between my crease and my brow highlight. I also love the black shadow as an eyeliner. I have had no problem with staying power. I do my make-up at 8am and I get home at 8pm with shadow fully intact. I use UDPP and Revlon Iluminance Creme Shadow for base.

Cleansers -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Face Cleanser Towelettes
rated 1 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/30/2011 6:55:00 PM

These towelettes are not quilted (which helps to pick up makeup residue) and the texture is pretty rough on my skin. After using I feel a burning sensation around my eyes. I won't be buying these again. The store brand towelette at the drugstore is quilted, soft, non-irritating and cheaper.

Cleansers -Aveda - Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanser
rated 2 of 5

After I got my eyebrows waxed, the esthetician suggested some products for me. I was all stocked up on moisturizer and I don't use toner, but I was in need of a new cleanser. I had high hopes for this one, but after the first use my skin didn't feel clean. It has the consistency of creamy moisturizer and there is no foam at all. It is truly like putting on lotion and rinsing it off. I tried again with a different scrubbing implement, but I still didn't feel clean. As an experiment, I used a cosmetic wipe on my face after "washing" with this stuff. Sure enough, there was plenty of foundation still left on my skin! I will be trying to return this product for a refund.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad - Va Va Va Bloom
rated 4 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/19/2011 9:02:00 PM

This was one of the first eye shadow quads I ever purchased. I liked blending the colors and experimenting. I found it easier to use than powder shadows before I had any brushes. Now that I have a few brushes and have learned some techniques, I mostly use these as a sticky base over UDPP with my powders and pigments. They help my eye shadow last all day. For a quick look when I am in a rush, I will use just the darker color over UDPP all over my eye lid with eye liner and mascara.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Angels Delight Soap
rated 4 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/18/2011 1:39:00 PM

I really liked the smell of this Lush soap. So fruity and yummy. It lathered well. I don't see or feel any confetti, but maybe I got a chunk that doesn't have it. There is a golden arch on the soap that looks like it has glitter in it, but it isn't abrasive at all. I took one lippie off because the soap didn't leave my skin feeling soft. I didn't feel that the soap was drying, but it isn't moisturising either. I would buy it again, but it won't be at the top of my list.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin ] ] [DISCONTINUED]

Very little color payoff. More sparkles than color. I wanted to like this because I really like the Dream Mousse bronzer. But I ended up returning this to the store.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar Healing Hand Cream
rated 2 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/11/2011 3:12:00 PM

I got this as a gift. I don't really care for it. It has a strange fragrance to me. It smells good right out of the tube, but it doesn't smell like vanilla on my skin. It smells like something greasy and food-like. Weird. As a moisturizer it is just okay. I'm giving mine away.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eyeshadow - Saddle
rated 5 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/9/2011 4:22:00 AM

This is such a pretty crease color. Looks great with gold lids and with color shadows also. I am an NC 45-50 and I also use it as an all over lid color with just eyeliner and mascara for a fast, simple nude eye.

Really pretty shimmering blush. I am NC 45-NC 50 and this blush is subtle, but enhancing on me. I get compliments on how nice it looks.

This is my favorite blush, speaking as someone who has just begun to use cheek color. I am a brown skinned woman and this blush looks just great against my skin tone.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 5 of 5
msmonmakeup 1/9/2011 4:12:00 AM

This is the perfect foundation for me. It never feels heavy and my skin looks natural. Once it dries it leaves a really clean, fresh looking finish. I am not looking to cover a ton of imperfections, but just to even out skin tone so I can't speak to covering acne scars, etc. For even lighter finish, I mix it with my face lotion to make tinted moisturizer. And it is cheaper than Mac, of course. I am a NC45-NC50 in Mac and I use Caramel 400 in Colorstay.
