Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ultra Plush Lip Gloss
msmaura 11/27/2012 2:54:00 PM
After swatching this product across several occasions, I finally bought Coralista. In all honesty, it's not worth the $20 CAN I paid for it. The pigment in the gloss is so sheer it may as well be clear on my lips. It has a very short wear time, and as it is a gloss it transfers quite easily. That said, I like the subtle fruity taste and the texture is incredible - it's like a silky rich balm, rather than a sticky lip gloss.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Folica.com
msmaura 11/15/2012 1:13:00 PM
I have had the WORST experience with Folica. I placed an order for several products, only half of which were delivered to my home in Toronto. Not only was I obliged to pay the entire shipping fee (including the import duties and taxes) for all the items I'd ordered (yet not received), but then Folica requested I send back the few items I had received and never returned any of it! Folica then spent over a YEAR claiming to have sent the entire package, bouncing me back and forth between the mail delivery service and them, ultimately screwing me out of my money and the products I'd ordered all the while blaming me for their series of errors. I will NEVER order from them again. Folica has AWFUL customer service.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blackberry
msmaura 11/15/2012 12:46:00 PM
A fantastic Revlon product for its price, colour payoff and longevity. On my NC43 skin, this $8 gem shows up as a dark red/bordeaux colour that lasts all day if applied over a moisturized lip and I avoid touching anything to my mouth. Given the impracticality of not eating or drinking, I'd suggest a lipliner or the blot/reapply method to lessen smearing and transferring.

Lipstick -MAC - Lipstick in Hibiscus
msmaura 11/15/2012 12:36:00 PM
Bought this on ebay after it sold out within days of the Surf Baby collection release in Toronto MAC stores. It's a beautiful punchy coral that brightens up my NC43 complexion. It applies sheer and can be built up to an opaque bright lip. The colour is absolutely gorgeous, but is not very moisturizing for a cremesheen. That said, it is definitely a spring/summer lip colour, and its bright pop feels inappropriate for my office. I wouldn't rebuy simply because I prefer lipsticks that can be worn year round and in multiple environments.

Eyeliner -MAC - Tarnish Eye Kohl
msmaura 10/19/2012 10:22:00 PM
A great green eyeliner - dark enough to be office appropriate, but not so dark it just looks black. The colour itself is gorgeous as well! The texture and consistency are MAC standard, which is to say you get what you pay for! Will definitely repurchase.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Lovesick
msmaura 10/19/2012 10:20:00 PM
Initial colour payoff is great, nice minty flavour, and fantastic packaging (easily mistaken for the more expensive Clinique Chubby Sticks). That said, the attempt to combine a balm and stain compromised both - I don't find them moisturizing enough, nor do I find the stain lasts more than 15-20 minutes. Won't repurchase as the original dual-ended lip stains were a better fit for me.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Tourmaline Featherweight/Travel Hair Dryer (Original and Bespoke versions)
msmaura 10/19/2012 10:14:00 PM
So. Much. Hype. I bought the Featherweight a year ago, and honestly find myself reaching for my much less expensive Conair one more often than not. Why? - There are two heat settings (no cool shot) and the lower setting is almost as hot as the high setting on my other dryer. - The nozzle attaches to the dryer but not in a fixed position, so it often spins while I'm drying my hair - It makes my hair fluffy. Not the best description but somehow I'm not able to style my hair as well with this dryer. May be less damaging that way though? - So many stories about how fragile it is. I made sure to get my warranty registered (which you only have 21 days to do upon buying it!) but still wince every time I set it down. Perks are that it DOES dry your hair in a short amount of time (see above point about the heat though), and the volume of the Featherweight dryer is like a kitten mewing compared to the jet engine roar my Conair makes. All in all though, you can probably find something better for cheaper.

Blush -MAC - Blushcreme - Posey
msmaura 10/19/2012 10:04:00 PM
A gorgeous colour and texture, but not the right product for me. Doesn't show up well on my NC43 skin and tends to fade quickly as my skin gets fairly oily.

Foundations -Cover FX - COVER FX
msmaura 10/19/2012 10:02:00 PM
If I could only use one beauty product ever again, this would be it. I've used Cover FX's Cream Foundation in M80 for the past five years. It gives INCREDIBLE coverage and matches my skin perfectly. The creamy consistency allows it to be buffed into the skin so it doesn't look like it's just masking your face. Lasts all day on my combination skin, and works well with both powder and cream blushes/bronzers.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Passion Tinted Lip Treatment
msmaura 10/19/2012 9:57:00 PM
Fresh's Passion Lip Treatment is a splurge. It combines the moisture of a lipbalm with a gorgeous sheer oxblood colour. Definitely a reserve-for-date-night product though given its high price tag (about $30 CAN).

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
msmaura 10/19/2012 9:52:00 PM
An excellent lipbalm. Moisturizes and wears comfortably for up to 2 hours without reapplying. Essentially an upgraded Vaseline - better texture, consistency, and flavours. Love the lemon scented one!

Hair Styling Tools -Mason Pearson - Junior Mixed Bristle Brush
msmaura 10/19/2012 9:45:00 PM
My HG hairbrush - though it's an unbelievable amount to spend, the brush smooths out my unruly curly hair, giving me the same glossy straightness as when I spent an hour blowdrying! Comes in a cute retro package and the mini cleaning brush included is very handy!
