Polishes -Barry M - Nail Paint
msmarchi 8/24/2010 8:29:00 PM
i wish barry m was sold in the states! i was fortunate to have 3 sent to me by a cousin in the UK and i fell in love! the colors come out amazingly well in one coat. i especially love blueberry ice cream, it's such a beautiful pastel blue (and i don't normally do pastel blues). it's so smooth and application isn't a pain like some china glaze/opi/essie polishes. topped off with a top coat = amazing looking nails! i'm not sure how much they are in $US dollars, but i'm guessing they're £2.95 (on the website). i say, bring barry m to the US!

Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
msmarchi 6/13/2008 12:45:00 AM
i bought the sample package (only paid s&h) but i've been on the website & it's SUPER CHEAP, compared to bare minerals foundation. i was skeptical to try this at first because my HG foundation is bare escentuals and i really don't like venturing out when it comes to foundation! i love bare escentuals but i couldn't stomach paying $25 for a 9g jar of it. it took me awhile to figure out what foundation color to get, so i ended up getting the medium beige in semi matte & original glo. i tried on the semi matte today & i was put off at first because it looked TOO LIGHT! i was so sad because i love how smoothly (same ingredients as BE minus the bismuth oxychloride) it goes on. a few minutes later (15-20 minutes) i checked again and it looks exactly like the BE medium beige that i use. i guess you have to let it seep in & set to get the true color. for my skin (dry, little-no blemish) semi matte gives me a fuller coverage than original glo. anway, i love it (except for the part that i have to let it set for a few minutes) and i'll even compare it to bare escentuals medium beige.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Peach [DISCONTINUED]
msmarchi 6/13/2008 12:34:00 AM
i just bought the samples (only paid s&h) but i know their prices are super cheap. love the coverage of this concealer. i've never used concealer before, so i was stumped when picking out the concealer part of the package. i chose peach because of its description ("for undereye circles"). i didn't really use it for my eyes (yet) but i did test it on a scar on my chin & it covered it 100%. love this stuff! i would buy the sample size ($2.50) again if i needed it.

Eye Primer -L'Oreal - De-crease Eyeshadow base
msmarchi 5/31/2008 5:21:00 AM
i love this!!! i stopped using UDPP because i found it super hard to work with (i couldn't really blend my eyeshadows!) so i started using the MAC paint pots (which i adore but not the $$$). i came across this product while browsing a few makeup blogs the other day and i decided i would try it out. i found it at ulta on sale for $4.99 but they were ALL GONE! darn. so, i walked over to target to see if they had any. they did but for $6.24. i thought, oh well, what's a couple of dollars? i'm sooooo glad i bought this! it's exactly like UDPP (better packaging, too) but it's easier to work with. i can blend my eyeshadows and there's no creasing (i had it on for about 8 hours). i'm happy to say that this is my new HG primer. yay!

Eye Shadow -Max Factor - Eye Shadow Trio in Metalicious
msmarchi 5/30/2008 4:07:00 AM
oh i love the green in this trio! it reminds me of a more subtle "bitter" (MAC). the other colors are pretty great, too but the green really stood out to me. ofcourse, you must put a base (i love l'oreal de-crease primer or MAC paint pots) before putting on any eyeshadow. the color pay off is pretty good on this one. the only downside is that i had to swipe a few times to get the green color i really wanted. that's fine by me, though because i love it!

Eye Shadow -Max Factor - MAXeye Shadow Toast to That
msmarchi 5/30/2008 4:02:00 AM
i don't know why i decided to buy this, as i have a bunch of MAC neutrals (this trio is neutral) but since it came with 3 colors, i figured this would be great for on the go. i still ended up using MAC rice paper and espresso to finish the look. the product is super cheap $4.59 (at ulta) and the packaging isn't so bad. i know you may think that while swiping your brush, you might get the other colors on there because it's so tiny, but it hasn't happened to me (i use MAC 239SE or the e/s brush from eco tools). the color pay off is all right, it would have been better if the brown was a little darker and the light shades were a little frostier. oh well. the only reason why i wouldn't purchase this particular trio again is because i have too many neutral eyeshadows.

Polishes -OPI - Vodka & Caviar
msmarchi 12/10/2007 12:36:00 AM
my favorite red nail polish thus far! it's honestly, by far, the best red color out there. OPI is pretty pricey but i don't mind shelling out $8+ on this because i love it so much. don't be put off by the pinky color that appears on the first coat because after it dries, it turns a pretty red.

Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Root Pump
msmarchi 12/10/2007 12:32:00 AM
i love this stuff! my hair is flat, so i get my hair cut short but i needed something else to give it more volume. sometimes i spray it directly on my roots (remember not to use too much) or spray it on my hands and work through my hair and blow dry. it really does help give more volume to my hair.

Styling Products -Garnier - Surf Hair Texture Paste
msmarchi 12/10/2007 12:28:00 AM
i just bought this at target for $3. i tried it on my (dry) hair tonight and i wasn't too impressed. my hair feels super sticky/greasy and i HATE when my hair feels really dirty. i have naturally stick straight hair, so i get my hair cut short with lots of layers and i want my layers to be more defined. i don't think this product will help me...but who knows? i'll try it with my slightly damp hair tomorrow.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
msmarchi 10/15/2005 6:00:00 PM
Can we say, finally? I love this product, it's a wonderful base (seriously). The only thing i dislike about this product is the packaging...the "lamp"-like shape of this product kind of confuses me. How do you get to the bottom (it's sponge-tip), when it is almost done? It's cute, though. The product is affordable & the product actually works! & it does make the eyeshadow color POP!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Gleam (Lustre)
msmarchi 10/15/2005 5:52:00 PM
i love my MAC eyeshadows & even though i rated a 4 on pricing (i'm unemployed), it's pretty inexpensive. Gleam is a pretty glittery pale pink/nude on my skin (i'm a medium beige 2,3 for bare escentuals) but the thing i found about Gleam is that it is very pigmented. When i apply the eyeshadow, flecks of the glitter tend to fall on my face. I don't mind much because this color is beautiful. (especially with Aquadisiac or Steamy)

Fragrances -Eyeko - Nougat
msmarchi 4/14/2005 12:12:00 AM
i wanted to see what the hype was all about with this product (i actually bought 3. 2 chocolates & 1 nougat. hey, it was my first time using a credit card and [i admit] i went a little overboard) and it didn't smell too bad BUT within minutes you can really smell it...it was SICKENLY sweet and it was just too much. plus, this product did not have much staying power and the scent was gone within 30 minutes of application. not worth it.
