Lipstick -Too Faced - La Creme Lipstick - Naked Dolly
msimone 8/30/2012 1:51:00 PM
I purchased the La Creme lipstick in Naked Dolly on a whim, impulse buy at Sephora. It was $25 cdn which is a little more expensive than some of the usual lipsticks i purchase, however the quality makes up for the cost imo. These lipsticks glide on so smoothly, and produce such a beautiful shine that lipgloss is not required. They feel very luxurious on my lips, and I think has improved the condition of my lips. I have had this for almost a month now, and i use it every day.Not a lot of swipes are needed to get a full dose of color. Naked Dolly is the lightest in the nude range and is comparable to Mac Creme de Nude or YSL Tea Rose. A nude beige with a slight hint of pink. I definitely want to check out the other shades in this line. Bonus - the sticker says Made In Canada :D
Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte #2 Sensual Silk / Blond Sensuel

I have been wanting this for quite some time, and finally got my hands on it with a gift certificate from Holt Renfrew. The packaging is gorgeous. I must admit i feel classy just pulling it out of my makeup bag. The smell is the trademark YSL light watermelon scent, which i have no qualms with. The shade is the perfect nude on me, fair beige-y pink . I wore it on the weekend and all of my gf's were commenting on how this lip color was "made for me" and all asked what it was. It doesnt feel like any other ls i own. Its so creamy and glides on so smoothly onto my lips. Pass on this however, if you are prone to dry chapped lips as i could see this excentuating them especially in the cold bitter winters. I find i dont even need to line my lips with this, it just blends perfectly and smoothly. Color lasts as any other ls would on me, if not a bit longer. This is rather expensive for a lip product (imo) at $38 Cdn. I would definitely purchase this again, but first i would like to see how long a tube lasts me.
I purchased 2 shades - neutralizer and fair about 6-8 weeks ago. I have been absolutely loving these. After applying my foundation, i use the neutralizer shade under my eyes, as well around any redness (ie, nose, cheeks). I dab it on with the applicator, then i lightly press and dab it in with my ring finger. once that is set for a minute or two, i then take the fair shade and apply this to my whole undereye in a triangle shape to higlight my face and blend the same way. then i lightly blend a bit of MUFE hd powder to set it. it lasts all day, covers well and doesnt crease at all. I am very impressed with this drugstore gem. I have been using them for almost 2 months now and i am about 1/3 through them. For the price, these have become staples in my collection. I want to purchase the brightener shade as well.
Treatments -Sally Hershberger - Hyper Hydration Super Keratin
msimone 6/1/2011 11:07:00 AM
I purchased this at Shoppers Drug Mart. I forget the price, but it was under $13 I think... For reference, my hair is colored, and very dry. From the website - what it claims: Get Extreme Moisture Repair for Dry, Damaged, Color treated Hair. Soften, Condition, and Smooth hair. Bring home the benefits of the #1 salon treatment, Keratin smoothing therapy! KEY BENEFITS: Restores and revitalizes hair to soft, shiny, supple, and sensational. Tames frizz, static and fly-aways for smoother, nourished, and healthier looking hair. Light spray prevents hair from being weighed down. KEY INGREDIENTS: Keratin nourishes and conditions for healthy looking, soft, frizz-free hair. DIRECTIONS: Spray on damp hair and comb through for a daily dose of deep moisture, or; Spray on dry hair for instant manageability and softness or to reactivate style when on the go. My Thoughts: I friggin love this $hit! I use it both on damp hair and on dry hair and it makes my hair so unbelievably smooth, especially the ends. It does so many things! Tames frizzies, smooths split ends, detangles, imparts a healthy shine, smells great and does not leave any residue whatsoever. It does not weigh my hair down at all. It also acts as a heat protectant which it states on the bottle. I cant remember if it also protects against UV Rays (it might say that on the back of the bottle as well...i will check at home and edit this.) The pump dispurses such a soft mist, its perfect. I think this is a holy grail product, I will defintely keep this in my routine. I think I am going to try out the rest of this line, and keep one of these sprays in my purse for the summer!
Bronzers -Christian Dior - Diorskin Healthy Glow Summer Powder in Aurora
msimone 6/1/2011 9:32:00 AM
For reference, I am NC20, BB Skin Warm Ivory, MUFE F&B #20, Chanel VA B010 Beige-Ocre Tendre or B10 Beige Tendre. I purchased this from The Bay as soon as it came out. I tested both of the summer powders and thought the darker one was a bit too orange on my more fair skin. The Aurora powder is so gorgeous. I love the pattern. In the pan, it has weaves of soft peach and fair bronze shades. It appears to have quite a shimmery look in the pan, however once it is applied to my skin, i see absolutely zero shimmer (kind of like the way Nars Laguna applies on me as well) I tend to use this as a blush tho, not as an all over bronzer. It gives such a natural gorgeous peachy bronze shade. I cant seem to over-apply this either, no matter if i use just a little or layer it for a more intense look - it blends so seamlessly. I also have tried layering another sheer blush on top and it still looks gorgeous (Examples - Joe Fresh Pale Peach, Nars Deep Throat) The palette is sturdy and the product is so finely milled. I have used it every day since I have bought it (over a month ago) and it doesnt even look like its been used. This will last me a lifetime, so eventhough I selected Yes I would buy this product again, Im sure I wouldnt need. So I guess I can justify the hefty price tag with this since its (a) gorgeous and (b) will last a lifetime.
I swapped for the Lait-Creme Concentre. I have dry skin in the winter, and in the summertime it is pretty normal, with a slightly shiney T-Zone. This moisturizer sinks into my skin instantly, my skin just drinks it up! I am loving this both in the am and pm. As a makeup base, it really does a good job with prepping my skin before makeup application. It has not make me break out. I believe this is going to become a staple in my skincare collection. Update - Nov 2011 - I am still sooo in love with this moisturizer. I have not had one dry patch, or any flakes since using this. I swapped for another full size one a few months ago. I need to stockpile this stuff! Its really a great basic mositurizer.
I swapped for the limited edition B010 Beige-Ocre Tendre shade. I am around NC20 in Mac, MUFE Face & Body #20, BB Skin Warm Ivory and this shade suits me perfectly. I have normal-dry skin - winter it is really dry, and summer it is normal with some slight shine in T zone. This foundation was a huge fail in the winter months. Serves me right for using an alcohol based foundation on dry skin! Now that the warmer weather is upon us, I have started using this with Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre as a base and this foundation has been amazing! Light weight, doesnt slip throughout the day, doesn't make me greasy like MUFE HD does in the warmer weather , and looks very natural. I apply it with my fingers, i feel it gives the best finish. I dust my T-Zone with MUFE HD Powder. Once you let it set for a minute on your skin, it dries to a nice semi-matte finish. Applying powder products like blush or bronzer on top leaves absolutely no streaking either, even if you do not set with a powder, which I love. It gives a light coverage which is all that I am looking for. I think this will be a staple summer foundation for me along with Lancome's Teint Idole Fresh Wear which is another alcohol based foundation. I think these are perfect for the summer because the alcohol seems to keep shine at bay. And these foundations NEVER look cakey.
I bought this after reading the reviews and wanted to try out a new deodorant. I purchased the Coconut Vanilla one from Sephora. At first I loved it - the scent is gorgeous and I didnt really mind the sort of wet feeling upon application. But after 2 days I noticed my underarms were so red, they looked sunburnt! Kind of weird because it did not hurt, sting or itch. I stopped using it, and then tried it again 2 weeks later and the same thing happened. Bummer because I wanted to like this, but I guess im not *that* bummed because it saves my wallet from repurchasing over and over again! I think I will be returning this to Sephora.
Lipstick -MAC - Sheen Supreme Lipstick - Supremely Confident
msimone 3/8/2011 7:45:00 AM
This is the only shade of the Sheen Supreme lipsticks that I purchased. I love the tube, its a chic shiny tube. Reminds me of the BB ls but circular. This shade is a total dupe of Mac's 2N lipstick from their LE Collection All Ages All Races All Sexes (or whatever it was called). The only difference is the formula. The Sheen Supreme's are very slick and glide on my lips. No need for a gloss - these are a ls and lg hybrid. Love it. The shade is a very pale nude in the tube. And it is fantastic for any gals whose lips are super pigmented and have a hard time finding a nude that works. it really mellows the tone down, and doesnt wash me out. Love it! I stopped using my 2N for fear that I would never find a suitable dupe - and here we have it!
Highlighters -Christian Dior - Shimmer Powder 002 Amber Diamond, Spring 08
msimone 1/31/2011 1:54:00 PM
I have had this product for a while, so I decided its time to write my review. First of all - this stuff is expensive. But I guess the price doesnt matter when i get the results it gives me. As previously reported in past reviews - there is absolutely no chunky shimmer or glitter in this whatsoever. It is so finely milled. This imparts such a gorgeous pale peachy-gold glow to my cheeks and whenever I wear it, everyone asks me what im doing to my skin, or what im wearing to make it glow so much. You can wear this alone for a subtle neutral glow, or you can add this just to the cheekbones, with some contour underneath for a more defined look, or you can add this on top of blush for an added layer of oomph. Sometimes i use this to highlight the inner corners of my eye, and a teenie bit down the bridge of my nose for an overall glow to my skin. So yea, this product is definitely not cheap, but I havent even made a dent in it, and im sure it will last for quite a few years. But if/when I run out - i would not think twice about repurchasing this.
My husband went on a business trip to the UK, and I gave the poor sucker a list of items to hunt down for me. haha. This was one of them. I have had this for a few months now, and I feel it is time for me to write my review. This lipstick is one of the palest lipsticks I own, and I generallly only wear pale nudes. It is an almost white-ish pink color. I do find it drying on its own, but I dont really think anyone should wear this lipstick alone. So why the high rating? This is the perfect lipstick to adjust and tone down other lipsticks with. I have some way out there bright pink and coral lipsticks that I never wear (why do i still buy them is a whole other topic) but with this lipstick, I dont feel as out there or in your face when I pair it with a brighter lippie. It gives me a bit more color but pale and milky enough to stay within my confort zone. I also like to apply my lipsticks over a lipgloss or lip balm, so that helps a bit with the drying factor. So yea, if you have this lipstick and do not really know how to wear it - try it dabbed on the centre of your lip with another shade, and blend it around. Awesomeness.
I have been using this product for a few months now, and its safe for me to say that this is one of my favorite concealers. For reference, I wear MUFE HD #120, i think im around NC20 in Mac (although i do not wear mac fdtns) and Warm Ivory in BB. My trusted concealers in the past and still in my rotation at MUFE Lift (for undereyes) Lancome Effacernes (for undereyes) and MUFE Full Cover (for blemishes). I wanted to branch out and try a new concealer for my undereyes, and after reading some reviews, I was curious to try this one. (I am still waiting for HC Glamoflauge to arrive in Canada) It is a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way with this one. I purchased the shade Light, and it is the most perfect match in any concealer. Its bang on for my skin. The consistency is a bit different than my other concealers - this one definitely feels more moisturizing and kind of slippy at first when i apply it. I apply a very small pea size amount for both eyes. I use my fingers, and dab it on and the roll my finger to sort of press it into my skin to make sure it blends seamlessly. I set with either Benefit powerflauge or MUFE HD pwdr and i cant believe how much coverage i get, yet it doesnt look thick or cakey. I also am a fan of using concealer to cancel out the pigmentation of my lips, so i can achieve a true nude lip, and this is by far my favorite to use on my lips because it absolutely does not dry them out. its so creamy it actually feels like it moisturizes my lips. I have also used this on spots on my face and it covers well. Definitely love this concealer, and im sure the tube will last me a while.
Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Physiological Cleansing Gel
msimone 1/14/2011 8:31:00 AM
UPDATE: April 4, 2011 - I am changing this from a 4 to a 5. I have finished the bottle and I was thinking about re-purchasing. But on a whim, while I was out at Walmart I thought - oh I will just get an Olay wash, because I was using them forever. After one use, my skin was tight, flaking and completely dehydrated. I guess I never realized just how bad this was on my skin before using the LRP cleansing gel. So I am returning the Olay wash, and going to head to SDM and repurchase this gem of a cleanser. I am just about finished my Bioderma makeup remover as well...so I am on the hunt for another mu remover for my eyes. Original Review: I have been using this for just over 2 weeks now. In these winter months, my skin is terribly dry and flaky on some parts. I wanted to change to a cleanser that was not as harsh or drying. I have used Olay cleansers for the past 2-3 years now, and I wanted a change. This item came packaged with a bottle of the physiological body gel cleanser for $27.50 Cdn at Shoppers Drug Mart. This stuff is AHH-MAAA-ZZING. After the first wash, my skin was noticably softer and moist. Although it is not that good for removing mascara, but that just means I get to use my BioDerma Sensibio makeup remover that has been just sitting on my counter. So I remove my eyemakeup first, then I use 2 pumps of this and rub it around my face. It has a light kind of powdery/floral scent which does not bother me at all, I kind of like it. The packaging is a simple clear plastic bottle with a pump, nothing special or funky. I recently purchased the Sephora perfecting pore scrubber - which is a pink silicone pad that has really soft little nubs to exfoliate your face. So I have been adding the pumps on the pad, and using a circular motion all over my face and especially around my nose. I rinse it clean and gently pat dry my face. I cant begin to tell you how smooth and soft my skin is. This is fantastic for the winter months. I put on my moisturizer and my skin is like a baby's bottom. Even my husband commented on how smooth and soft it is. So while it sucks for removing eye makeup, I will not let this deter me from using it. I am not sure how much I will love it in the summer months, but I would definitely repurchase this.
I have been using this product for a few weeks now, and I must say I was a bit skeptical when I purchased it - but I have been pleasantly surprised. I wanted to try a yellow neutralizer for my undereyes but I didnt want to spend a fortune in case it didnt work for me. So i opted for this. Im not a huge fan of the pot form concealers, because i generally tend to use my fingers to apply. But aside from that, this product is great, especially for the cheap pricetag. Its a fair yellow, so I would say this may be better suited for those who are fair - light skinned. The consistency is what makes this product great. Its not greasy, there is little to no slip, but its not overly dry either. I just dab a bit on my undereyes with my ring finger, blend it out and it instantly brightens my undereye area. I let it sit for a few mins and make sure to really blend the area right near my lashes as i have a few fine lines and i dont want it to settle in them. Then i apply a concealer that matches my skin tone. It does not get cakey - which i was truly expecting it to, to be honest. There is absolutely no caking, and i actually think it makes my concealer last longer because its not setting into my lines. Overall, this is definitely a product i would recommend, and i would definitely repurchase - although i see this product lasting a long time as I do not use too much.
I am on my second tube of this - and I rarely repurchase lipsticks strictly because I like trying out new ones. I am a nude lip lover, and out of nearly all of my lipsticks, i reach for this one the most. Its so hard to find a drugstore nude lip that is actually a pale nude. They all tend to be more ylbb or more on the brown and peach side, but this one is a treasure. Id compare it to Mac's Creme d'nude which is the only other nude lip that I have repurchased. My lips tend to get dry with lipsticks, so my method of applying is using a balm or gloss on my lips first, then i apply the lipstick on top - which gives it a gorgeous sheer glossy look. If you like paler nude lips, and are in search for a bargain - you definitely must try this out.
