Palettes -Too Faced - The Return of Sexy Eye Shadow Palette
rated 4 of 5

I had been eyeing this palette for a while, but was hesitant to pull the trigger due to the mixed reviews. I typically wear either purple, brown, or black eyeshadows, so this was perfect for me. Ulta having 20% off on Too Faced is what made me finally commit to purchasing. I don't regret purchasing it at all, but I see why some people are unsatisfied with it. I definitely am not one for a natural look (for reference, I would NEVER purchase UD's Naked palette). If you enjoy getting all dolled up, this won't disappoint.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Black
rated 2 of 5
mrshaim 7/12/2012 4:11:00 PM

UPDATE: I have since purchased this same eyeshadow 3 more times hoping it would be the same as what I remembered, but all of them left me disappointed. I have since moved on the Makeup Geek's Corrupt black eyeshadow and suggest that to anyone else who is in the same boat as me. This WAS my HG black eyeshadow. I have probably purchased it 5 times in the past. It was always a heavily pigmented matte black. The black eyeshadow I got this time is not nearly as pigmented and has sparkles in it. It is absolutely not what I wanted. I hope this is just a fluke and that NYX didn't reformulate it. If it continues to be this way I will probably switch back to MAC's Carbon.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear - Disco Ball
rated 2 of 5
mrshaim 5/15/2011 5:53:00 AM

After getting acceptable results with 'Strobe Light,' I had high expectations for 'Disco Ball.' What I expected was a clear nail polish with holographic glitter that would add something to my normal/glitter nail polishes. I was originally wary of 'In The Spotlight,' but after exchanging 'Disco Ball' for it I couldn't be happier. Although I still don't think any Sally Hansen glitter nail polish is on par with OPI glitter nail polishes, 'In The Spotlight' does a much better job at what I thought 'Disco Ball' would do.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Special Healing Powder
rated 5 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 9:58:00 PM

I LOVE this powder. I use this to set my liquid foundation and then dust a little studiofix over it to really even out my complexion. My acne has significantly improved after I introduced this to my daily routine and it also does a really good job at absorbing oil, too. My only complaint is that the packaging/application isn't exactly friendly for throwing in a purse to do touch ups. I wish there was also a pressed powder version of this!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 5 of 5

I love this foundation. Prior to trying this, I had been using MAC studio fix fluid (like many other girls here). Both foundations provide really good coverage and help control my oily skin. Although I like the MAC foundation, I had a few problems with it. After a few hours, it would oxidize really bad and would also make me break out with daily use. I don't have either of those problems with the Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation. I have two gripes with the Colorstay: 1) the packaging. I really wish the bottle had a pump to control the amount of product dispensed. Half the time I either poor too little or way too much and end up wasting it. 2) the color range is pretty limited and none of them match my skin. Most of the colors end up looking either way too grey, pink, dark, or light on my skin. NC42 matched my skin perfectly, but now I have to mix Revlon's 310, 330, and 350 in order to get a shade that blends in. All in all, this is definitely my HG foundation.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Hot Crystal
rated 1 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 4:00:00 AM

I have about 20 NYX eyeshadows and this is definitely my least favorite. Most of their eyeshadows and very smooth and almost creamy, this however is very chalky with large chunks of glitter that don't come across well. I thought it would be a shimmery/frosty white, but was very disappointed. I have since bought "geisha" and am very happy. I don't understand how this product has any good reviews.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Trio TS06 Purple Deep Purple and Prune
rated 5 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 3:54:00 AM

I am on my 2nd trio of purple, deep purple, and prune at the moment. I buy this mainly for the deep purple, which is different from NYX single deep purple eye shadows. I also use the purple, but as far as I can tell it is the same as the single eyeshadow pan. I use both of those almost daily. They are surprisingly wearable when used and blended with other lighter shades as well as blacks/greys.

Blush -NYX - Mosaic Powder in Dare
rated 2 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 3:45:00 AM

I purchased this product because of the great reviews on MUA, but I guess I am in the minority on this one. Dare was WAY too shimmery and the color barely registered on my NC42 skin. I ended up just using this as a highlighter every once in a while on top of my cheek bones.

Lipstick -MAC - Snob lipstick
rated 4 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 3:41:00 AM

Although I don't love snob, I do like it a lot. It is one of the best pale pink lipsticks I have ever used and is a very pretty color, but sometimes I think it might be just a little to cool for my skin. I normally pair snob with a dazzleglass or nymphette lipglass to make it more wearable. It is very similar to the Gaga vivaglam lipstick which I also own.

Blush -MAC - Gleeful
rated 4 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 3:34:00 AM

I really like this blush, but it wasn't really what I expected. I love the color of peachykeen, but it doesn't really show up too well on my nc42 skin. I was looking for a blush in the same color range, but more pigmented/darker. The color comes across both warm and cool (because it is a blue pink with gold shimmer), but registers on my cheeks as a rasberry pink... definitely no where near peachykeen. The color is still very pretty, just not what I was looking for in an everyday blush. It does register very well on my tan skin and you only need a few sweeps.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Joesoef Acne Treatment Kit
rated 2 of 5
mrshaim 6/8/2010 3:25:00 AM

I only just received this product, but am not sure if I will even be able to test its effectiveness because of the scent. There is a very strong "grandma perfume" fragrance added to all of the products. There is no way that this can be good for my acne. I have used many other sulfur products in the past and had absolutely no problem with the scent, but this is unbearable. The packaging is also really cheap: the labels on my spot treatment is completely faded and as I was struggling to close the lid on the lotion, some of it squirted into my eye. I will most likely continue using the soap and update if it does in fact improve my skin. Starting to wonder if some of these good reviews are actually from Dr. Joesoef...
