I purchased this because it was one of the only drugstore moisturizers I could find that did not have silicones as one of the top ingredients. My skin is combo, but I need a nice lotion at night after cleansing to take away that tight feeling and wake up smooth. I used this once and the next day had very shiny skin, but I washed my face and no big deal. The next night I applied again, a pretty thin layer but mostly to my drier areas like cheeks and neck. The next day I wokeup and was shocked to see red bumps all along my cheeks and down my neck!! I do get pimples on my chin, but never on my cheeks- and these were bumps! I stopped using this and the bumps subsided but I had to apply benzoyl peroxide to get rid of them. I'm scared to even use it as hand cream for fear that it might get on my face, the bumps were that bad. Not sure what it is that caused this to happen, but thank goodness for this website I know it wasn't just me. I probably won't buy any more Simple products.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)

I got this at Ulta with my Clarisonic during a time when I was having lots of hormonal skin changes and breakouts. I find salicylic acid drying for everyday washing, so I liked that this didn't have it, and also had some natural oils which I know your skin needs some of even if it's oily. I paid for the big bottle which is overkill, it's humongous, but it's the better deal dollarwise. The clarisonic does help this lather well, so if you like a lather use that or another type of facial brush. Otherwise using your hands, there is very little lather, which might be gentler for sensitive skins. This is very creamy, clean/herbal smelling, but I don't find it leaves my skin "filmy" like some other reviewers have said. However, I only use it with the clarisonic, so maybe that's why. It does remove makeup, but not waterproof makeup. You need to use another product for that. For nights when I have lots of makeup, I use a makeup removing towelette first, then Purity wash. It does not leave my skin tight or stripped feeling- just clean and fresh and soft. I use it daily and have never broken out. I feel like it's a great go-to for any skin type including sensitive skin since it's gentle and does not have a strong smell or too much detergent. When I run out (in ten years!) I will buy it again for sure.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque

I picked this up after hearing how great it was for oily skin, and I had been breaking out a lot recently. The price couldn't be beat. I settled in for a relaxing night of spa treatments and slathered this on. I didn't make it two minutes before I felt this horrible burning sensation all around my nose and cheeks. At first I attributed it to the menthol or minty ingredients, but the burning got so bad I had to remove this mask. I looked again at the ingredients and realized the problem: sulfur. Sulfur can burn if left on too long and scar the skin! I have had issues with it in the past. I can't believe I didn't notice it was in this mask until after I bought it. I did give it 3 lips because my skin did feel very soft and clean after using it...but the pain was unbearable. I returned it the very next day. I also want to add that I do not have sensitive skin at all, but I have found that sulfur products burn me terribly. I would recommend a simple clay-based mask over this one. One that I found worked great is by Giovanni, the volcanic ash one.
