Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5

I previously used PF Mineral Wear pressed powder, but after becoming pregnant and researching the products I use on my skin on skindeep.org, I decided to switch to the Healthy Wear because it only scored a 2 out of 10 on their 'hazard meter'. I must say I'm very pleased with the performance of this powder! I use two colors, the Translucent Light goes on first with a kabuki brush (after letting my Belli tinted sunscreen soak in), then I apply another thin layer of Translucent Medium with the provided sponge. I love the result - the product applies with the ease of a powder, yet gives the coverage of a liquid/cream foundation. I have mild/moderate acne (before and during pregnancy) and using the Healthy Wear powder has reduced the number of cosmetic breakouts I've experienced. Love this stuff!

Treatments -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil (100% Pure Australian)
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 11/15/2011 6:53:00 PM

I weened myself off of spironolactone (for acne) several months ago due to plans to become pregnant in the coming year. I know pregnant women are advised against using TTO, but since stopping the spironolactone, I needed something to keep my skin clear during this 'in-between' phase. I am so happy I started using this! I mix four drops with a dime sized blob of Alpha Hydrox glycolic souffle and apply after cleansing. I read that glycolic acid and tea tree oil are effective at treating acne together - I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but my skin loves it!

Eye Makeup Remover -Avon - Makeup Remover Wipes with Mineral Complex
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 6/23/2010 3:53:00 PM

I love makeup, but I also really like taking it off at night. Completely. These wipes are well-saturated with makeup remover and actually take off every bit of eye, face, and lip color. I always wash my face after using the wipes, but if I was way too tired, I wouldn't feel super guilty about just swiping with one of these and hitting the sack. Unlike other makeup removing cloths I've used, they don't make my face or eyes itch, which is definitely a plus. I got two packages for $7.99, so they are a great buy.

Cleansers -Boscia - Purifying Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 4/20/2010 12:19:00 PM

I just love face wash, so after receiving a sample of this one I was really excited because I have been eyeing it for a while now. But at $26 for 5 oz. I was pretty skeptical. Well, it works great for my late-twenty-something slightly oily and break-out prone skin. I just recently purchased the full-sized bottle. I don't want to use products with SLS in them anymore, and this cleanses my face simply and wonderfully. Also, it is really concentrated. Less than a full pump is enough to wash your face, making that little 5 ounce bottle last that much longer!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
moblinger 12/18/2009 12:22:00 PM

I have been using Dove Sensitive Skin bar on my face, but recently my face seemed to be getting dry and breaking out a little. Perhaps just the change of seasons, so I haven't given up on it entirely. Anyway, I decided to try Aveeno Ultra Calming Foaming Cleanser. It doesn't contain sulfates, which is a criteria for me to buy a face wash. It is good. It cleans gently, doesn't sting my eyes, and my face really does seem less red and blotchy after washing. I have oily skin, and it cleanses thoroughly. However, it isn 't as foamy as I would like (thus only 4 lippies). I have needed to use up to 4 pumps to get a nice lather going. Give it a try!

Shampoo -Shi Kai - Color Reflect Platinum
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 12/11/2009 7:40:00 PM

I like to travel with my own shampoo and conditioner since I refuse to use products with sulfates. Since I was going to be in and out of hotels for a month straight, I decided to get some 8 ounce sized hair care products. I found Shi Kai on Vitacost.com and decided to get the platinum shampoo to maintain my blonde while in areas with unknown mineral content in the water. I also got the Daily Conditioner as well. But this is a review for the shampoo, so anyway - it is great. If you have delicate blonde/light hair, it is gentle and cleanses thoroughly without drying. I think my color looks brighter and my hair is shinier. I will get this again, even to use at home when I'm not traveling!

Powders -Physicians Formula - Pearls of Perfection - Translucent
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 11/12/2009 6:08:00 PM

I just love Physicians Formula products. They have excellent ingredients and are reasonably priced (compared to higher end cosmetics). This pearl-powder is great for giving your skin a soft glow. I don't use it all over my face, I don't think my nose needs extra 'glow', but I do brush it over my temples and onto the top of my cheekbone in a backwards 'C' shape after applying blush or bronzer with a smaller blush brush. Lovely!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Sugar Plum on Ice
rated 4 of 5
moblinger 11/9/2009 5:46:00 PM

Nice lip color for fair blond gals. I have trouble with many lipsticks looking too bright and clownish, even some lighter shades, but Silver Plum on Ice looks great. Could be a bit more pigmented. Just a tiny bit pearly to give lips some sparkle and dimension. Great!

Lip Gloss -New York Color - Liquid Lip Shine in Sungold Pink
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 9/23/2009 7:34:00 PM

This is a great gloss. It is really too thick and pigmented to call it a gloss - I guess that is why they call it lip shine instead. Anyway, it is a lovely color. I love the gold shimmer, I think it is very flattering and face-brightening. If you are on the pale side, I would suggest a bit of bronzer to pull the look together. At $1.79 a pop, you can't go wrong giving it a try!

Shampoo -Pantene - Smooth and Sleek shampoo
rated 1 of 5
moblinger 9/21/2009 10:09:00 PM

Ewwww.... I have naturally nice hair. Good genes and good luck, I guess. But after I used Pantene (the Smooth and Sleek kind specifically) every day for a few months, my hair looked and felt like a birds nest. When I stopped using it and switched to a silicone and sulfate-free shampoo (Beauty without Cruelty), my hair went back to being great. Put down the Pantene and back away from the shelf!

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Face Powder
rated 4 of 5
moblinger 7/14/2009 10:07:00 PM

I like this powder. I really use it as a foundation; although I have worn it over liquid foundation for extra coverage. I moisturize my skin, use a little concealer where it is needed, and gently pat the powder on. It has a nice opaque quality that covers naturally and lasts. If I want a finished face without fussing with my liquid foundation, this is what I reach for. Not for every occasion, but I do wear it about 75% of the time. Great if you just want to keep your makeup routine simple.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - makeup dissolving facial cleansing wipes
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 6/5/2009 2:47:00 PM

I received these as a sample from Clean & Clear and plan on buying them when I run out. These wipes satisfy a lot of needs: 1. They are plenty large enough. 2. They are wet enough. 3. The product actually removes makeup. 4. They do not leave an irritating residue. 5. The cloth is super soft. 6. They are excellent for travel. I guess I could go on, but my point has been made! A great makeup remover!

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer and Natural Skin Tone Enhancer Medium Skin Tones
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 6/5/2009 2:31:00 PM

This is an awesome gradual self-tanner. I do not consider myself a person with a 'medium' skin tone, but this product makes me appear to have one! A bottle lasts me all spring and summer, applied every two or three days to my legs only. Try it!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 7/14/2008 4:40:00 PM

Colorstay or Double Wear? I have been wearing Revlon's Colorstay for over 10 years and didn't think I'd ever use anything else. Perhaps it is a coming of age thing, but I decided that I am a 'big girl' now (haha) and I can afford to treat myself and try some higher-end makeup once in a while. So I ended up at the Estee Lauder counter and decided to give Double Wear a whirl. I had used Sand Beige (ColorStay) and now in Double Wear I am using Desert Beige. Sand...desert, pretty much the same. They both work well for me. As far as the coverage goes, Double Wear is better and smoother. It is a very thick consistency, but you can easily blend it on to be more sheer. It also covers pores much better, and wears better throughout the day. I was pushing a stroller around in 85 degree, humid weather and sweating bullets, and when I got home all I needed to do was blot off the sweat and the makeup still looked perfect. Another test for me is if my sunglasses make weird 'indents' in my makeup. With ColorStay, this happened all the time. Not with Double Wear! I guess if my budget were to get tighter, I'd go back to ColorStay, but all things considered, I think I'll be sticking with the Double Wear from now on (although both companies should change their packaging to pumps).

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Excellence Creme
rated 5 of 5
moblinger 7/13/2008 12:15:00 PM

I love Excellence! I had used Garnier Nutrisse in Light Natural Blonde for years and thought it was drying out my hair, so I decided to try this dye in the same shade (9.5 Light Natural Blonde). First of all, the comb tip applicator is amazing - it makes dyeing my almost mid-back hair so much easier. So here is the true sign of an awesome hair color - I had dyed my hair the night before I was going to my stylist for a cut, and he couldn't stop commenting on the beautiful color. As he was blowdrying my hair the salon manager came by and stopped and gasped at my hair. She was like, oh, my god, your hair color is gorgeous. She then started complimenting my stylist on the great job he did on my color! That's not all. As he was finishing up, another girl came for an appointment with the stylist in the chair next to mine and I could hear her asking her stylist for my hair color! I quote: Can my hair look like hers? So I guess my $7 box of hair color is my awesome little beauty secret. I love it!
