Shampoo -SAMY - Zero Calories Fat Hair Thickening Shampoo
rated 3 of 5

I was pleasantly surprised when I bought this. I've always been cautious with volumising shampoos and conditioners because all the ones I've tried have left my hair feeling dry and matted. My hair is pretty long so the ends especially need a good bout of moisture, and having knotted bush hair is a big no no, regardless of how volumised it may be. When I shampoo my hair with this it produces a really good lather and has a very faint, yet pleasant scent. It actually leaves my hair feeling a lot softer than any of my other shampoos and I haven't noticed any residue. Combined with the conditioner, my hair is left feeling very soft and nourished. If I blow dry my hair it does give it an extra boost, but I usually skip this step. Instead I've noticed that despite how soft it makes my hair feel, this shampoo/conditioner doesn't weigh my hair down in the slightest. I've given this a 3 out of 5 because it doesn't entirely do what it says on the tin. Okay volume, but really nothing special. It works for me though in terms of making my hair feel lovely and I will definitely repurchase :) The one negative I have about this is the packaging, Whilst I love the red tube shaped bottle, the round flicky lid feels a bit cheap - as if it could snap right off.

Polishes -OPI - Barefoot in Barcelona
rated 5 of 5
mo5050 6/1/2011 3:44:00 PM

I'm really pale so this is nowhere near 'nude' for me, but it's such a beautiful neutral colour. The formula couldn't be better - no streaks (even on the first coat) and goes on like butter. It's fully opaque in two coats and doesn't chip easily. If you like the colour then don't hesitate to buy this polish, it's fantastic.

Cleansers -LUSH - Ultra Bland

I use this to take off my make-up at the end of the day and it does such a good job! It thoroughly removes all make-up from my face and leaves it feeling really soft and hydrated. Even though I have oily skin I quite like that it leaves a VERY slight greasy residue as it stops my face feeling tight like other make-up removers. I've also found that by using this every night it has made my skin a little less oily during the day - must be something about skin getting more oil so it doesn't produce as much of it. I still use a eye make-up remover with this as I find it too heavy around the eyes, and not thorough enough at removing mascara. However, on my face it's fantastic and I will purchase this again and again. I bought the larger tub for just under £10 - it's not huge but a little goes a long way so it's well worth it!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
rated 5 of 5
mo5050 5/1/2011 1:53:00 PM

This brush is so versatile - it can be used for a sheer application of shadow all over the lid, blending shadows together, or applying shadow in the crease. It also works amazingly as a concealer brush. No other brush I've tried is as good at blending as this, it's also incredibly soft and I've had zero fall out so far. I would definitely recommend this brush, it's also on the slightly cheaper side of the MAC spectrum at £15 which is very reasonable for such a great brush.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 2 of 5
mo5050 5/1/2011 12:20:00 PM

I bought this when it first came out as it was a little cheaper and I was in need of a new mascara. I quite liked it at first, the big brush coated all my lashes at ultimate speed and it gave me a nice defined look really quickly in only 1 coat. However, when this started to dry out a bit(couple of weeks) I couldn't use it anymore as it just stopped working for me. It clumped my lashes together and wouldn't hold a curl. I won't buy this again as it didn't do anything spectacular in the first place, never mind drying out and clumping within a few weeks.

Lotions/ Creams -Hawaiian Tropic - Lime Coolada Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
mo5050 5/1/2011 12:14:00 PM

I bought 2 of these for £10 at Boots when they were on offer and couldn't wait to slather them on as they smell so divine! The best way I can describe it is a tropical scent mixed with coconut and a hint of citrus, it might not be for everyone but I adore it! It's a lovely cream that isn't too thick so it sinks in to your skin really quickly with zilch greasy residue. I love putting it on purely because of the smell and consistency, but I've been using this regularly for 2 weeks and haven't seen any major difference in my skin. It feels nice when it first goes on but hasn't made my skin any softer in the long run. I think this would be a lovely thing to use on holiday for it's tropical scent, but I probably wouldn't buy this again. It retails at around £9 which I think is a bit steep as there's a lot of body butters that moisturise better for less - even if they don't smell as good!

Shampoo -Batiste - Dry shampoo - Brunette
rated 4 of 5
mo5050 4/14/2011 7:28:00 AM

I love this as my fringe always gets greasy much quicker than the rest of my hair, so a quick spray of this makes all the difference :) Cheap as well - although it does run out fast (I prefer to spray in short bursts, and this seems to help it last a little longer). Only complaint is that the colour isn't really 'Brunette'. If you spray a little on the back of your hand and wait a minute, you'll see that it's more of a dark greyish colour. It's still a big improvement on the original but because my hair is auburn it still leaves a slight ashy cast to my hair.

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
rated 4 of 5
mo5050 3/21/2011 7:38:00 PM

This had a lot to live up to when I first bought it, as I had pushed my beloved YSL Teint Resist aside as I wanted something with a more professional finish. Anyway, I've been using this for the past month in NC15 and really like it. It gives decent coverage, which is very buildable and has a nice finish to it. The lasting power is very good as well, but the most important thing to me is oil control and I'm pleased to say this comes up trumps. It's not sliding off my face after 12 hours, and weirdly there's even been some days when I haven't been that oily at all. The thing I don't like about this is I feel that you have to have perfect skin for it to look good? Recently my skin has been a little less hydrated than usual - nothing drastic, not even any dry patches. But I am having difficulties getting it to sit right on my skin, it won't blend properly and it looks really unnatural after I've applied it. After about 20-30 minutes though it does start to sink in though and looks much better, so I'll still repurchase it. I also do feel the need for a primer underneath it just to help it slide on a little better, but that's my personal choice :) All in all, a great foundation that's bumped it's way up to my new favourite thanks to it's good coverage, colour match and oil-control - a definite re-buy!

Blush -NARS - Douceur
rated 4 of 5
mo5050 2/14/2011 4:26:00 PM

This was my first ever NARS purchase, and I love it! It didn't get much use when I first bought it as I just didn't find myself reaching for it in the mornings, but now I've started wearing it more often I can really appreciate it's loveliness. I think the problem was that I was applying this on the apples of my cheeks and it didn't flatter my pale skin at all. But now I've been wearing it more underneath my cheekbone and it looks gorgeous! It gives great depth to my skin without adding too much of a flush, perfect :) Only thing with this is that I find it hard to blend? I apply it with the MAC 168, but I'm not sure if it's just because the colour is such a contrast to my skin or because it's pretty pigmented. Either way it's definitely one of my favourite blushes and I would recommend this to anyone with pale skin.

Powder -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
mo5050 2/14/2011 4:14:00 PM

I bought this looking for a touch up powder, and I liked the thought of Mineralize Skinfinish Natural because I hate my face looking too matte/flat so this seemed like a good choice. It is a very nice powder, doesn't cake throughout the day over foundation and it does leave a nice finish to the skin. It also didn't dry the skin on my nose out which is the one thing all powders seem to do!! Only quams I have with it is the coverage. This isn't one I can wear by itself on one of those lazy days because I find it much too sheer. Even to touch up, I find myself having to go back and forwards, back and forwards with a fluffy powder brush to make my face not look like a disco ball. As a result of this mine has worn down fairly quickly, not really worth my £18.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bedhead Superstar Queen For a Day Thickening Spray
rated 3 of 5
mo5050 12/22/2010 8:16:00 PM

I have really fine hair, but masses of it, so getting volume in my hair is always such a chore. I used to use mousse in my hair, but it always seemed too heavy and made my hair sticky - so I thought I'd give this a go. It's nothing special. The first thing that annoyed me about it was that it awkwardly squirts instead of spraying so I can't directly spray it onto my hair. Instead I spray it on my fingers and work into my hair, and it seems to work better this way. It gives alright volume.. nothing major but it still makes the difference. I do like it because it's very easy to use and doesn't go icky sticky or weigh my hair down at all. And obviously because it's TiGi - it smells divine :) I payed around £10 for this which isn't bad considering the size of the bottle, and it will probably last me a very long time. I'll probably repurchase unless I find something better (quite keen to try the S Factor Body Booster).

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt
rated 4 of 5
mo5050 12/18/2010 7:54:00 PM

I really love this scrub, it's one of my favourite facial products and one of the few I find actually makes a difference. I have oily skin that's prone to dry patches, and get the odd breakout with redness around my nose and cheeks. After using this my skin always feels soft and much more even toned. It also helps clear up my skin when I get a breakout, or it's just a great skin-fixer on days when my face is feeling a bit icky. The only problem I have with this is the massive chunks of salt - it can't be good to scrub your face with them.. to many sharp edges! I'm really careful about rubbing this into my face, and do it VERY gently! Over the time it's sat on my shower soapdish, it has accumulated quite alot of water, so it's alot more watery and the salt grains are finer than when I first got it. Still works just as well though :) I'll keep purchasing this forever and ever and ever as it does so many great things for my skin. However I won't rely on it as my one and only exfoliator as I want something I feel comfortable scrubbing all over my face!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Snow Fairy Shower Gel
rated 3 of 5
mo5050 12/15/2010 7:56:00 PM

I'd been dying to try this shower gel after hearing only good things about it and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I went into LUSH with the absolute intention of buying this, so even though the smell didn't 'wow' me at first, I still sauntered up to the till clutching the biggest bottle of the stuff in my hand. I don't think this product lives up to hype - the smell really wasn't what I was expecting. It smells mainly of bubblegum, but the kind that you've had in your mouth for a while and it's gone a bit stale.. if you know what I mean?! It's also got quite an artificial whiff to it which I'm not keen on - and I'm sure if it wasn't there I would be a lot more keen on this. That said, I still do like it's sweet, candy scent. As a shower gel, it's pretty average. Nice lather, smells good in your shower and leaves my skin feeling fine. The smell doesn't seem to linger on my skin at all (although my mum tells me otherwise!), but it does in my bathroom - which I love! I've also started using this in my hair, and can't get enough of it! I've never used a 2-in-1 shower gel and shampoo before, and was worried it might dry my hair out too much or make it really lank - but I actually prefer this to my usual Aussie shampoo. Your hair needs to be really sopping wet for it lather up well, but I love that you can use all the excess lather to wash your body as well. It left my hair feeling really soft and shiny, and didn't weigh it down either, yay! I probably will buy this again next year as I like how the smell lingers in my bathroom, and using the same stuff for hair and body is so eeeeasy (I'm lazy!). I payed £9.95 for the 500g bottle of this. It's not too extreme, you will be able to find better smelling shower gels for less. As for the glitter.. I can't really comment on it as mine has next to none, and it has all sunk to the bottom and won't shift. Silly Jemma who made mine did not put enough in! I'll probably end up looking like a disco ball on my last use haha! I would reccomend this, although do have a good sniff before you buy as the scent is not for everyone :)

Liquid -Yves Saint Laurent - TEINT RESIST Long Wear Transfer Resistant Foundation
rated 4 of 5
mo5050 9/2/2010 9:31:00 PM

Bought this foundation a while ago and was slightly apprehensive about it, seeing as I don't usually fork out nearly £30 for a foundation. Luckily, it has (kinda) lived up to it's price tag and has became one of, if not my favourite, foundation. The thing that seals the deal for me is the oil control. My skin gets awfully oily during the day and I've no time for touch ups, but this stuff keeps my face looking fresh like no other foundation does! Even through a 9 hour day in a hot busy college, my face is only slightly oily.. so for anyone with oily skin that has trouble finding a foundation I would SO reccomend this! The other thing I love about this foundation is the beautiful satin finish it has. Makes your skin looks so lovely and glowy without being shiny or dewy - just perfect :) The only problem I really had with this stuff was the coverage. I usually need about medium coverage with a bit more around my nose and cheeks, but when I first started using this I found myself using about 5 pumps for my face as I found the coverage to be really quite light. Now though I just use a bit more concealer under it, and manage fine with 3 pumps. Overall, it's a smashing foundation and I would have given it 5 lippies had it had a little bit more coverage! But I will definitely buy it again :)

Polishes -Essie - Pop Art Pink
rated 3 of 5
mo5050 5/15/2010 1:00:00 PM

This colour has really grown on me, didn't like it when I first got it but much more keen on it now :) It's a really nice sheer candy-ish pink that I always go for when I don't want anything too bold on my nails - yet it still looks really feminine and pretty. The formula was fine, not streaky at all. Took about 4 coats for it be opaque enough for my liking but it would still look great with less than that.
