Nails -Unlisted Brand - Beauty Secrets - Nail Polish Thinner

Does what it says. Has saved quite a few of my old gooey polishes from the trash bin. The amount you use depends on the polish, as some will need more thinner and some less. Lasts a long time. Be careful when using as it will clearly ruin any manicure you currently have if you drop this on it. I have used it as a nail polish remover in a pinch....not highly recommending it for that purpose, but like I said it was in a pinch. lol :)

Lipstick -MAC - Amplified Creme - Morange

One of my favorite MAC lipsticks! So bright, so fun, soooo sassy! You will be noticed when you wear this. It is a great summer lipstick....really a great anytime lipstick. I have bought this more than once and will keep buying it when I run out. I love the look of red lipstick, but for some reason have never felt like it looks really great on me, especially blue-based reds. I find that orange lipsticks look fabulous on me and has the same striking effect, but with a bit more sass than sex....but I am more sass than sex. lol Highly recommend checking this out. Would look fabulous at the beach with little makeup or at a party. Love to wear this on days I just want to feel like a sassafras! lol :)

A really nice barbie pink. Has decent staying power and looks great for summer. Will get lots of wear out of this polish. A very nice addition to my polish collection.

Primer/ Corrector -Lise Watier - Portfolio
rated 4 of 5

I bought this a few years ago. It is kinda dry, but you can still work with it. It helped me hide some zits better than other concealers did in the past. It also concealed undereye circles well and added a nice healthy glow to shallow areas. I don't really take the time to conceal stuff nowadays unless I am really feeling self-conscious or I have oodles of time. I really liked this wheel when I was into having a flawless complexion, but lately I just sort of want to look like me....only better....not someone else entirely. My makeup routine just needs to be a lot faster nowadays because of nursing school, but like I said I enjoyed this product when I spent much more time on my makeup and getting a "flawless" look. I believe it is worth checking out, but there are probably some more reasonably priced products out there that are comparable.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/14/2013 2:07:00 AM

This is a my favourite drugstore shampoo. I used it all the time years ago and had no complaints about it. It was great for my damaged, bleach blonde hair when I couldn't afford Matrix Conditioning Balm and Shampoo. There are clearly better, high-end shampoos, but for the price this is good. I don't use it anymore as I switched to a shampoo that had less acne-inducing chemicals in it. I have terrible acne and basically tried to purge as much stuff that would affect it. I have sort of fallen out of that practice, but still enjoy my more natural shampoo and conditioner more. Just wanted to throw in my two cents on past experiences with Herbal Essences and say I recommend it to those looking into buying it. Make sure you get the conditioner as well. I used to love the little factoids they had the on the bottles....don't know if they do that anymore. lol :)

Polishes -OPI - Cozu-melted in the Sun
rated 5 of 5
mmherman 6/14/2013 1:55:00 AM

I bought this last year and sort of thought it was "meh" and wore it a few times. I sort of thought it looked old lady like....but I pulled it out a few weeks ago and found a new appreciation for it. I remember it seeming more bronzy, but it is a lovely shimmery pink. It is sort of a subtle shimmer, more of a satin, but it does shine....it just isn't obnoxious. It is very sophisticated and does have a mature air to it, but it looks great on tan skin and is pretty and profession without being a sleeper. I am glad I "shopped" my stash and gave this another try. I find the more I paint my nails the broader my horizons get in regards to trying and admiring different looks/polishes/etc. Wear time is fabulous on this stuff. It lasts 3 days without chipping. It only chipped after I did a bunch of dishes and baked three pies (hopefully didn't chip in the pie lol). I think the chipping has more to do with my top coat getting old and not performing well, not Cozu-melted. Dries fast too on application in comparison to other shadows and removes relatively easily. If this catches your eyes give it a try or two! You just might fall in love with it like I did. Good luck! :)

Eye Primer -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
mmherman 6/13/2013 7:21:00 PM

I am impressed, but I sorta figured with all the great reviews I would be. You never know though. I usually use Mac paint pots, which I love, but I also love to experiment with makeup and see if cheaper alternative work. This does. I won't be giving up my paint pots any time soon, but this is a great primer to have in my arsenal. The thing this has over my paint pot in Bare Study is that this really intensifies my eyeshadow colors. I never noticed any intensifying to this extent with my paint pot, but this primer really does make my shadow pop in a way I have never had a primer noticeably do before. It was sort of alarming the first time I applied my Stila Kitten eyeshadow over it....it was sooo much more sparkly and intense. I just will know not to use this when I want a more natural, subdued look. I highly recommend checking this out. It intensifies eyeshadows, adds longevity to shadow life and prevent creasing even in extreme heat. I don't have air conditioning in my car and this has lasted through many rides without melting or fading away. Excellent performance and affordable too boot! :D

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes~Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/13/2013 7:01:00 PM

I bought this after seeing some good reviews online. I'm not terribly picky when it comes to mascara. I want length and a little volume is always nice, but not mandatory especially if the volume comes from with gross clumps and clusters. I want natural looking lashes that have perhaps been bumped up a bit. I think it you use a lighter hand you can get that look with this mascara. It does add length and doesn't seem to flake, but it can cause some under eye transfer if you have longer lashes (I always have this problem with all mascaras I have ever used). It is dry and has potentially been irritating my eyes later in the day. I can see this mascara being a disaster if you are heavy handed or inept at applying mascara...I think it is highly likely this could become a monster spider lash creator. So beware. This crap is also hard as heck to get off your lashes completely, which is good and bad. Good in the waterproof department, but bad in the makeup removal department. I usually just try to remove it with facewash and water. I don't have eyemakeup remover so maybe that would help. I have just used other waterproof mascaras that come off easier when you want to remove it. I will have to update on its performance at the beach. I think it will do well, as long as I'm not allergic.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher Water Resistant
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/13/2013 6:55:00 PM

I don't usually wear waterproof mascaras so perhaps my review isn't as valid as someone who wears it all the time, but I wanted to find something that would work for a trip to Florida I will be making at the end of the month. I wanted something that was beach friendly. I had previously tried L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes (waterproof) and liked how it looked, but was having some eye irritation and wanted to see if it was from that. Not so sure it was, but oh well I like to experiment. Anyways this is mascara makes your lashes look nice and natural, but a little more dramatic....not incredibly dramatic. It will be a nice mascara to use for the beach. The staying power is good. It is sort of dry and possibly irritating to my eyes. It comes off easily with makep remover and water. The lashes aren't stiff or spidery. The mascara tube is huge, but surprisingly not uncomfortable or clunky when used. I have never really been a fan of Cover Girl makeup, period, but I will probably give some of their regular mascaras a chance in the future.

Lips -NYX - Jumbo Lip Pencil - Pecan
rated 3 of 5
mmherman 6/13/2013 6:40:00 PM

This is a very pretty color in the tube, on my hand, but on my pigmented lips look like poop. I don't really understand how it pulls so much brown on me, but it does. I bought this after seeing some really positive reviews online, but I guess it just doesn't work for me. It was pretty cheap so I will keep it and see if I change my mind about it in the fal//winter. Perhaps when the seasons change and the color palette goes a bit more muted I will think differently of this lippie. Lasting power isn't great and I wish it came in a twist up tube. It cost as much as the pencil to buy a sharpener. The way I feel about this lippie right now does not really justify buying a sharpener just for this pencil. Perhaps I will give a more vibrant, summery color a try in this format. Hope others have better luck than I do. I just look blah and deadish with it on. It is too bad because it looked promising when I swatched it on my hand.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie Eye Shadow Palette in Desert Festival
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/13/2013 6:34:00 PM

The shadows aren't as nice of quality as my Tarte or Mac shadows, but for $4.99 the shadows are pretty decent. They don't have the softness of the color-icons from wet n' wild, but they still work nicely. I really think this palette has some unique colors and I really wanted it for the orange shadows. I really enjoy using the burnt-orange shadow to apply to my crease. So far I haven't done too much experimentation with this palette, but I think it is a good addition to my makeup arsenal. I think it was good purchase and while the 4 lippies I gave this aren't like the same 4 lippies or 5 lippies I would give certain shadows that are awesome awesome awesome....I think this palette is better than 3 lippies as I reserve that for stuff I don't hate, but don't love. 3 lippies is reserved for meh purchases....for me this is not a meh purchase. I just don't want to imply this product is as high quality as Tarte or Mac shadows. It isn't, but it is good for a drugstore eyeshadow....I usually think drugstore eyeshadows are junk.

Cleansers -Clarisonic - Refreshing gel cleanser
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/12/2013 8:42:00 PM

I got this as a sample with my Mia 2. I didn't use it for months, but my skin has been kinder to me lately so I decided I would give this a try when I ran across it a few weeks ago. I don't use it daily because I try to only use my Clarisonic once a week or so. I find this to be a nice cleanser. It smells nice and is not irritating. It doesn't overly dry my skin and it doesn't break my acne-prone skin out. I will consider buying this when my sample runs out.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 6/10/2013 4:24:00 PM

I used to use this gel liner all the time years ago. It is a great black liner and is so easy to apply on other people. I never had a problem with creasing and it lasted a long time for me. I only stopped using it because MAC wasn't readily available where I live and I changed to a liquid felt tip eyeliner from Maybelline. Recently I have been thinking about adding this back in my makeup arsenal. I remember this product did dry out a little over time, but never so much that it made the product unusable. I purchased this many, many times and in many colors. It was and is the best gel liner I have ever used. Check it out! :)

Polishes -Essence - Colour & Go 116 gorgeous bling bling
rated 3 of 5
mmherman 6/10/2013 1:04:00 PM

I really like this color and I would like to give it a better rating, but I only can get one full day of wear before the polish chips the next day. It has tip wear on the first day of application. It is probably one of the worst polishes I have ever worn in regards to longevity. It is too bad because this polish is a nice, unique color. Even though it stinks in the performance department I am glad I found it because it was the perfect polish for a dress I was wearing to a wedding. It lasted the wedding day and only cost a dollar so I can't complain. This was my first experience with Essence polishes. I don't know if this was a typical polish or not. It won't stop me from checking out other polishes in the future.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia2
rated 4 of 5
mmherman 5/30/2013 5:15:00 PM

I got this as a gift for Christmas. I have used it off and on for my face. It hasn't made my face perfect or problem free, but I don't think it has caused any additional problems. I think for my own personal skin I can't use this on my face every day. It does tend to exacerbate my acne if use it too much. I've been attempting to use it once a week and that seems to be really successful for me. My skin feels super soft after I use it. I recently changed from the sensitive skin brush to the normal brush and surprisingly like the normal skin brush more. I've also found this is great to use on my entire body. I use it to exfoliate when my sunless-tanner gets yucky and blotchy. It really helps when my tan has started to get really gross looking. I just use my Mia 2 all over my body and it really softens up the areas of discoloration. I usually let my skin mellow for a day and then start applying my sunless tanner again. It seems like this is a weekly thing. Must be how my skin sheds, but regardless my Mia 2 has really helped make the weird shedding days much easier to get through. Highly recommend giving the Mia 2 a try in this way. :)
