A whisper of Spanish. Dim lighting. Dancers swirling around. My first memory of Chanel No. 5. I was sixteen and going dancing in Mexico for my first time. Feeling like I needed to be more mature (as all girls at sixteen feel), I rushed through my mother's makeup bag and, finding this perfume, spritz just a bit on my neck, wrists, and behind my knees (just like Teen Vogue said!) I ended up meeting a handsome boy from the village and having a wonderful week exploring Mexico with him as a tour guide. At the end of the week, when parting, I asked him what his favorite memory was. He replied, in a heavy Spanish accent, "The first time I met you...you danced well and you smelled...beautiful." That was it. I've worn Chanel No. 5 ever since. This scent is original and it smells like a woman. As a graduate student, I commonly see all of my peers prancing around in more floral or sweet scents. However, I take pride knowing that I'm wearing a scent that not only attracts, but also smells like it could be natural. It is complex and a bit imperfect, just as Coco wanted it to be. This imperfection creates the beauty. Like Kate Moss stepping out with mussed hair, the imperfection of this scent adds that je ne sais quoi factor. Chanel No. 5, however, has become my perfect scent and I will never let it go. Just like Alon from the village said, I "smell...beautiful." And I will NEVER let that go.

Moisturizers -Korres - Wild Rose 24-Hour Cream

I really like this. For christmas, my mother sent me a big bag of these samples. I have really oily skin, so at first I was skeptical about this product. But, since I was traveling and had no other small products to chuck into my single plastic bag, I decided that it really wouldn't be SO bad, and if it was I could always go out and buy my usual Olay. I WAS SO WRONG. This product was FANTASTIC. It actually seems to help my breakouts...maybe because it's so natural and free of mineral oils and other nasty things. I'm not sure, but I'll definitely be buying a full size. I've heard it comes in a glass jar. While I'm not a germ-freak and don't mind jars, I do think it looks pretty heavy and I travel A LOT! But the product is too great to NOT get, regardless of the jar!

Shampoo -John Frieda - Sheer Blonde Highlighting Shampoo

I LOVE this product. I actually have dark brown hair with natural lighter brown and, in the summer, blonde highlights. After working out with a friend, I realized I didn't bring my shampoo from home to shower with. So I borrowed her sheer blonde. After blowdrying, my friend asked me multiple times if I had colored my hair. The summer sun bleaches out pieces of my hair so they are a very dark blonde but sheer blonde made them PULSE. I mean, my hair looked like I had spritzed an entire lemon's worth of juice on it and stayed outside for hours. It was amazing. I went out and bought this and the matching conditioner and probs. will not look back!!!

Polishes -Chanel - Le Vernis Nail Color

I LOVE chanel nail polishes and have reviewed a few colors. However, so far there are NO reviews for the new LA summer colors. Rodeo Drive. That's the ONLY color someone one needs this summer. It's cheeky, PURPLE, and screams summer fling. It's absolutely gorgeous and isn't annoying or shimmery like most "summer" colors! A MUST BUY!!!

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Beauty Bar

I've been using this since I was a kid...but only just started using it as a face wash. I use an oil cleanser in the morning to rid myself of excess oil and take off the oil of olay beauty fluid and pond's cream i use. (i don't wear foundation so I don't really need it at night) This is the perfect afterwash for the oil cleanser. It rinses nicely and cleans without stinging. It doesn't dry my skin out too much which is nice too! It really is a classic bar. The only problem is that it's IMPOSSIBLE to travel with!

This is WONDERFUL. It makes lips soft and shiny, cheeks dewy, rough spots disappear, and manicures just BETTER! I can't even put into words how much I love this stuff! My only problem is the tin. Sometimes, when trying to pull of the cap it will suddenly fly out of your hand and end up 10 feet away!

I don't actually use this as a conditioner...but as shaving cream! it's cheaper than shaving cream usually is and smells FANTASTIC!!! Plus it REALLY works. So I'll keep buying it...probably going to try the strawberries and cream Moisture Milk next!

Scrubs -Origins - Modern Friction

Sadly, I am one of the few for whom this product created a horrible, burning, stinging sensation. My skin is now bright red and sunburn feeling. I WILL NOT be using this product again. My mother and sister, however, both adore this and use it twice a week, religiously. Ah well...back to St. Ives!

OMG. So to tell you the truth I only have this on my thumb. I tried it yesterday at a counter and after thinking about it all night i HAD TO GET IT. I tried a single coat on my thumb and was thoroughly suprised. First, I can never apply nail polish. My hands are typically much to shaky. However, with this polish I applied it absolutely PERFECTLY. Second, NO STREAKS. It went on in such a pretty brown with ONE coat. AMAZING. Third, I absolutely LOVE this brown. More than OPI's "Suzi says Da!" It's absolutely gorgeous! Move over Vamp, there's a new Chanel in town!

Skincare - Face -Shu Uemura - Depsea water

Okay so I have super oily skin. SUPER SUPER oily skin. Every moisturizer I use makes my skin greasy and nasty and AWFUL. So I gave up on moisturizer. Then I found Shu Uemura on a recent trip to Japan. OMG what a lifesaver. I now have very happy NOT GREASY skin. I use the High Performance Cleansing Oil in Fresh (cherry blossoms...mmmm) and my new product love, Depsea Water. I have the limited edition in Momonomi (peach) and it is wonderful. I spray it on after I cleanse and it gives me the PERFECT amount of moisture. EVERY SUPER OILY GIRL SHOULD USE THIS. It's perfection in a bottle.

OMG my HG cleanser!!! This stuff was sent to me from Heaven. I got this a week ago as an early xmas present...and it is FANTASTIC! It makes my super oily skin soft, smooth, and greaseless. It smells fabulous...like a japanese bathhouse. It's quite simple to use and I like it TONS better than typical lather-up soap formulas. I don't use a cleanser afterwards b/c i like the after feeling-fresh and clean without any tightness or flaking. a MUST BUY for super oily skin!!! Don't fear the oil ppl!!!

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo

Okay...so I think i'm probably the only person who is going to say this about this shampoo but, for me, this did not clarify AT ALL. During the week I typically use very moisturizing shampoos that leave my hair soft and light...strange, i know, but it works. Well, after using this my hair feels like I took Extra Virgin Olive Oil and dumped it on my head. I really wanted to like this too!!! O well, now I have something with which I can wash my makeup brushes.

Masks -Laura Mercier - Hydra Soothing Gel Mask

This mask is the ONLY mask I use. It's very gentle and soothing. I use it at night and then cleanse. I leave it on for about 10 minutes. It's FANTASTIC! My skin calms down and I swear it helps my oily skin with SOMETHING! When I first used this, for some reason, I thought it was a cleanser. I had all of these little samples of it and I used them EVERY DAY! My skin was gorgeous after that! However, it is pricey and using it everyday along with the rest of my expensive skincare habit would burn a HUGE hole in my wallet. I highly recommend this product to anyone!!!

Cleansers -Laura Mercier - Oil Free Gel Cleanser

This cleanser is perfect. Seriously. It's the cleanser I always return to after I experiment with crap cleansers. After using this, I believed I just happened to have great skin that was perfect and I could use anything. SERIOUSLY. I BELIEVED I NATURALLY HAD PERFECT SKIN. I switched to neutrogena oil-free acne wash. (I have very oily skin, but i only breakout from time to time) My goodness, was my skin awful after that! I went around using different cleansers for a while, and I realized it was THIS cleanser that made my skin so gorgeous. Now, I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil (another wonderful cleanser), but when I want a nice, gentle, refreshing clean I use this. (Prob. about 4 times a week in the evenings) IT'S AWESOME!

Benetint ROCKS!!! It gives you a perfect flush without looking like a living doll. I could not live without it!!! best lipcolor! It even smells like ROSES when you first put it on...and for ppl who don't like scents...it goes away in SECONDS. Cons: you have to work quickly and the cap on the bottle has a tendency to break so be gentle!
