Fragrances -Diesel - Zero Plus Feminine
mixtapevanity 3/27/2011 3:40:00 AM
I got a 100ml this for $20 on a perfume warehouse sale. It's very wearably. Coconutty, fruity and sweet, the dry-down is kinda musky but doesn't bother me. The bottle looks like a cologne or other masculine perfume, but it's easy to travel with and doesn't leak. Not a high class perfume, but easy to wear and perfect for parties. I'd buy it again.

Blush -MAC - Cheekhue - Get Surreal
mixtapevanity 4/27/2010 9:39:00 PM
I love this so much! It looks like a violet purple coming out of the tube but on my cheeks it's a beautiful pale pink. Blends in well with my skintone, doesn't look purpley at all. Stays on quite well. I would change the packaging because it's easy to get too much when squeezing the tube (I squeezed out a tiny bit and thought it was too much at first, but blending was very easy when I applied it so I was able to sheer it out). That said, there is a LOT of product and this is definitely worth the price. I wish MAC hadn't discontinued the cheekhues!

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte-peach passion
mixtapevanity 3/20/2010 1:20:00 PM
I love this product and the packaging, and the color is unique, but you need to wear lip balm under this lipstick because it will be drying. It applied a little bit streaky the first time I tried it on, but it's a lot better and creamier now. The packaging is beautiful, there is a mirror on the top surface of the cap too. I would buy this again if I ran out of it, but I probably won't need to since there is a lot of product and you only need to use it sparingly.

Lip Treatments -Guerlain - KissKiss Baby Nourishing Lip Balm SPF10 #261 (Rosy Nude)
mixtapevanity 3/12/2010 9:54:00 PM
This is a great lip balm. Just the right amount of color, a nice neutral pink. The packaging is lovely and easy to find in your purse. However, is it not as moisturizing as I would like a balm to be and that's why I won't repurchase it (especially for $30). It also gets used up pretty quickly because of the texture (I've had it for 3 months and it's about 3/4 gone.

Blush -MAC - Fun & Games - Hello Kitty [DISCONTINUED]
mixtapevanity 2/8/2010 2:33:00 PM
I absolutely love this! The color and pigmentation are perfect to use as my everyday blush. I sometimes use it on top of Tarte cheekstain in Blissful. Good staying power, cute packaging. I thought it might be too orange/too warm on me but it's gorgeous! NC20

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
mixtapevanity 8/7/2009 10:46:00 PM
I like this foundation. The packaging is great, but it was expensive. I have quite oily skin and this foundation doesn't help the oil, but it's alright as long as I use a powder primer underneath and blot when needed. I thought this was breaking me out when I first started to use it about 6 months ago, but then it cleared up completely and my skin is fine. I like the coverage is gives me, it's very smooth and doesn't accentuate my pores at all. I only have to use a tiny bit for my whole face because of the gel texture. I like it a lot and I'll use this until I'm finished the bottle, but I won't buy it again because I'm looking to find the perfect foundation that gives great coverage AND is good for oily skin.

Brows -Quo - Cashmere Brows in Brunette
mixtapevanity 8/6/2009 7:04:00 PM
This is a thick, double-ended brow pencil from Quo that comes in two shades, Brunette and Blonde. I purchased Brunette for $13. One end of the pencil is a softer textured cool brown with a thicker "lead", so you can apply a thick line. The other end is the same color, but a thinner and slightly harder pencil. It draws a thin line. I would assume that maybe the thin end is meant for outlining and making your brows very precise if you're drawing them in, while the thick end is just to fill in spots if your brows are already quite full. Since the thicker end is creamier, it also rubs off more easily. I have Asian brows that are black in color but sparse and long. After I tweezed and trimmed them I tried to use the Cashmere Brows to fill them in with the thick end, but it looked really garish and unnatural. I later tried with the thinner end and yielded the same results. Perhaps this wasn't the right shade for me. My brows are black, but I've always found more success using a medium brown to fill them in. I wish Quo had made a shade in between their Blonde and Brunette because when I swatched Blonde on my hand it was way too light and beigy, while Brunette is almost black. So I wouldn't buy this again, but it could definitely work if you have thicker brows or if you have lighter hair and get the Blonde instead.

Eye Shadow -Quo - Cooling Gel Shadow Pencils
mixtapevanity 8/6/2009 6:51:00 PM
These are thick shadow pencils that came out with a recent LE summer collection. I got two colors, 90 degrees and Cool Breeze. 90* is a nice taupe with pink sparkles (no glitter). Cool Breeze is a greenish taupe with gold sparkles. There was also a nice white one and a fawn one that I liked. The other ones were a warm coppery brown, a dark brown with green sparkle and a dark brown with blue sparkle. These apply very smoothly and they stay on well. I just wish they would have packaged it as a twist-up pen, like MAC shadesticks, because the pencil needs sharpening which wastes product, and the tip doesn't need to be super sharp anyway since I use it as eyeshadow or eyeshadow base, not eyeliner. Although I can also use the blunt tip to smudge it on the lower lash line since the color's not too sharp anyway. The cooling sensation is also unique, and it goes away a few seconds after you apply the shadow. Overall a good product. These are $14 each, which is a bit pricy but they are very good quality too. I would buy again.

Primer/ Corrector -GOSH - Velvet Touch foundation primer
mixtapevanity 3/10/2009 11:07:00 PM
This is a great primer! It works just as well as Smashbox Photofinish. I swapped for it in its old packaging, the squeeze tube, which I prefer. It goes on clear and makes your skin silky smooth. I have combo skin so my face is still kind of oily after a few hours with the primer on but I just blot and touch up with powder. Overall a very nice product!

Mascara -Guerlain - Le 2 de Guerlain
mixtapevanity 3/9/2009 1:01:00 AM
This is an amazing mascara! The packaging is beautiful, but most of all I love the brush! I use the small brush that's meant for lower lashes on my top lashes too, it never makes any clumps. It separates the lashes so well! The bigger brush works well too. The formula doesn't smudge as long as I put some powder on my lashes before applying. There is a distinct Guerlain smell but it doesn't bother me. Very expensive but worth it, I'd buy it again.

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam Eyes
mixtapevanity 8/27/2008 10:57:00 PM
I've been wanting to try a comb mascara for a long time. This one is interesting. I like that the brush is thin so I don't have to worry about smudging mascara over my eyelids when I'm doing the inner corners. Staying power is average, I wish they'd made a waterproof version also because this doesn't hold a curl. I love the packaging, that's the main reason I bought it. This was $7.50 at Shoppers Drug Mart. I wouldn't buy again, only because I want to try some of the other Rimmel mascaras.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Professional Colors: Predatory
mixtapevanity 8/27/2008 10:50:00 PM
I couldn't get this to work for me. I tried to press it with alcohol but it hardened and became unusable, so I crushed it back into a powder and now it's very chunky. It goes on better wet, but you have to get just the right consistency with water. When I put it on dry, it just doesn't adhere. It's a shame, because this is a beautiful purple color.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Highlighting Brush
mixtapevanity 8/25/2008 11:45:00 AM
This is the perfect blush brush! The white hairs are so soft and they pick up pigmented blushes really well. It's also great for blending, and applying highlighter on the cheekbones. It washes pretty well too, dries quickly with no bad smell. SK is not available where I live so I swapped for this and I'm so glad I got it! The only thing I would change would be to make it more widely available so I could get a backup!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Teal
mixtapevanity 8/14/2008 9:18:00 PM
I really like the color of this, but it's so hard to apply! I find it helps if you put a few drops of water in the pot and then swish it around, then it applies creamier. The brush sucks, as everybody has mentioned. I've used it as an eyeshadow base as well, and it's very pigmented, but hard to blend. The Teal definitely feels drier than the other cream liners, which apply like a dream. I wouldn't buy this again.

Lip Treatments -NYX - Tinted Lip Spa
mixtapevanity 8/13/2008 7:00:00 PM
Copacabana is the perfect nude lip color for me! This was so much more pigmented than I imagined. It applies really well, not dry but not as moisturizing as a regular lip balm. The packaging makes me scared that it'll be sliced off if I turn it up too much, but it's holding up well so far. I like that you can see the color through the clear top.
