Crème -TheBalm - Time Balm Foundation

This is a great product. It lasts a long time (as in how long is lasts for before having to buy another one and on application) and has great coverage. I only use this as an under-eye concealer as I find it is more matte than the actual concealer they have. If a product is oily, it tends to slide right off my skin even with primer. I love that it doesn't have silicone in it as it causes milia around my eyes that takes forever to get rid of. The shades are fabulous and they blend very well with liquids and powders. My only issue is the lack of hygiene with the big plastic screw top container. If something is going to last that long, surely something can be done to help keep it cleaner (besides having to constantly wash my hands before applying makeup). I have the light/medium and medium depending on what and where I need to conceal and also whether or not I have a tan. I try to stay away from using this as an every day concealer on active or healing blemishes or clogged pores as my job is quite active and find that sweat with a heavy duty product don't mix.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Concealing Spot Treatment
rated 4 of 5
missmei 11/19/2011 5:27:00 AM

I certainly haven't found a product like this before. I like cosmetics that don't have too much crap in it but of course, I want it to be effective. This is one such product. It contains all the awesome, natural pimple fighting ingredients in a liquid form. I use the tip of the stopper to put a drop of the treatment onto the back of my hand (where you put liquid foundation before applying it to the skin). I find that letting it dry out a little before applying it to the face makes it easier to use and control as a concealer. I was skeptical about the colour initially - it looks quite chalky. To my pleasant surprise, it blends in quite nicely to my very medium, neutral coloured skin! I love the smell, it makes me think of 'clean'. It reminds me of a past favourite cleanser Sothys Purifying Lotion which really helped me initially when my acne got really bad. And how could I forget - the most amazing part about this product is that it reduced a cystic looking pimple without HOURS of first application. I am so impressed!

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - MooGoo - Fresh Cream Deodorant
rated 4 of 5
missmei 11/19/2011 5:15:00 AM

I don't routinely use deodorant as I don't have a bad BO issue. It is however nice to use this product as I find it refreshing. I have an active job and workout 5-6 days a week. I find that it helps to reduce the perspiration of the armpits. Pity the rest of me sweats - darn my efficient body cooling system. It's great that it does not contain aluminium, I used deodorants that contained aluminium and found that it has left dark marks on my armpits. If you don't use it for awhile, the applicator can get stuck. I find that it can leave white marks on your clothes but nothing that can't be fixed by giving the bottle a good shake and waiting an extra 10 seconds for it to dry.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - MooGoo - Milk Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
missmei 11/19/2011 5:07:00 AM

I lurrrrve this shampoo. It took a while for my hair to settle into the routine. My hair tended to get greasy after 2-3 days because of the irritating chemicals in other shampoos and conditioners. Clever isn't it - cause a problem and then use more product to try to fix it. Not with Moogoo Shampoo! It gentle cleanses your hair and leaves it so soft. If my hair didn't have a tendency to be dry, I think I could easily just use this product and no conditioner. The packaging is a squeezey top. The consistency is luxurious and so is the smell. Definitely a must try. Just give it some time if you are switching to less irritating products as the hair sometimes goes through a bit of a 'purge' but it soon gets over it. Then you will have silky, shiny, easy to manage hair too!

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - MooGoo Conditioning Cream
rated 5 of 5
missmei 11/19/2011 5:02:00 AM

As with the whole Moogoo range - this is a must buy! I love how creamy the conditioner is and my scalp just loves how moisturising and gentle it is. It smells like vanilla and my hair just slurps it up. It comes in a handy pump dispenser. I have long, (really really) think hair and I use 3-5 pumps. The conditioner spreads well and my hair is so soft and silky after using it. Due to my really thick hair, I normally have to go for heavy duty conditioners to keep out the split ends which leave my scalp feeling heavy and oily within a few days. That is, until I found this little baby! The whole Moogoo range is SLS, paraben, etc free which is a bonus but would explain why my hair and scalp just love it! My only gripe is that the company tends to change its formulation from time to time with no warning - generally it is for the better but better communication would be appreciated.

Treatments -Ren - Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask
rated 4 of 5
missmei 11/19/2011 4:56:00 AM

I just tried the mask and it's a thumbs up from me. My skin has just broken out in blind pimples (totally my fault for eating so much refined sugar this week) and needed a pick me up. The usual mud mask didn't feel like the right thing to do so I tried this. It has a creamy consistency to it and it smells like papaya. I love the tropical-ness to it, it reminds me of Hawaii which is where I got it from. My skin is clearer and brighter. The clogged pores on my nose have disappeared and I can see that the pimples are that little bit closer to resolving. It is gentle - similar to the action of Dermalogica Daily Microexfoliant but just a little deeper. It didn't sting (bonus!) on or afterwards when I put on my vitamin C serum and moisturiser. I can see myself using this product once a week in the coming summer months just to keep on top of the congestion in my skin that usually accompanies warmer weather.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Moogoo Acne Cleansing Cream
rated 5 of 5
missmei 11/7/2011 5:38:00 AM

A MUST FOR ALL ACNE SUFFERERS!!!!!! Finally, an awesome acne moisturiser that is entirely natural and works. It is formulated with what seems like all the special ingredients from the rest of the range - MSM, green tea, grape seed oil, resveratrol, milk protein, vitamin C and E and apple cider vinegar for an awesome antioxidant, antiageing, antibacterial, antiinflammatory and healing combo in a bottle. It smells luscious - fresher than the vanilla smelling remainder of the range. It absorbs quickly which I find is very important for my congested and acne prone skin. It leaves the skin refreshed, protected and a natural semi-matte finish. It only comes in an airless pump bottle (good! Hygienic!!!) at $18.50rrp for 75ml. As with all Moogoo creams, a little goes a long way. I have been using this in conjunction with some medicated creams but I find that I need to use them less as my skin is actually healing. I am pretty sure that the acne I do get heals a lot quicker and does not get as inflamed. I simply adore this product and highly recommend it to ANYBODY with problematic skin.

Masks -Boscia - Luminizing Black Mask
rated 5 of 5
missmei 11/7/2011 5:24:00 AM

This is one of my favorite products because it does what it says! My skin tone is so amazingly even after using it and it lightens some pigmentation spots from acne too. My pores definitely shrink after using the mask and my husband always says how nice my skin looks after using it. If he didn't have all that facial hair, I'm sure he would even try it! My tips - be generous and use it once a week. When my skin was congested, it responded really well to twice a week but I think this would be excessive for most skin types other than congested. Another tip - avoid eyebrows and the hairline and peel down from the forehead down. I wish it came in a tube that s easier to get the last bits out of especially considering the price. The results are worth the price and let's face it, we pay so much more at a beautician or for other products. One tube lasts about 6-8 applications.

Bronzers -Nude by Nature - Mineral Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
missmei 4/20/2011 3:24:00 AM

Talk about a little goes a long way! It is a simple but effective product that gives you a lovely hint of colour whilst using natural, skin friendly products. The amount you get for the price is great and I don't see myself having to buy another bronzer for years to come. Being a mineral powder means that it will still be okay for my skin for the years to come. You really need to take it easy with the application and build its coverage otherwise you will have some shocking patches on your face due to how pigmented the product is. It's a deep, pearlised bronze powder. It isn't too shimmery on application, it just gives you a lovely glow when applied properly. I use it under my cheekbones, temples, along my hairline on the top of my forehead and sometimes on my jawline and neck if I'm going out at night. The definition is adds is well worth mastering how to apply a bronzer properly. Bronzer can help thin a wide face, shorten a broad forehead, create an illusion of a bust and elongate the neck. No other makeup product can do that! You can also use it between your eyebrows and as an eyeshadow for a no-makeup look that makes it look like you woke up oh-so-glamarous. There are a few bits and pieces on youtube on how to apply bronzer properly. It's one of those long lost arts that make the world of difference to the finished face. It is an absolute must for photos!!!

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio in EXOTIC
rated 3 of 5
missmei 4/20/2011 3:05:00 AM

I love eyeliner and was looking for an intense purple coloured one. Knowing and trusting Smashbox, I thought I'd give this one a go. This was particularly so because this comes with 3 different colours! It comes in a small, handy and well protected case with an indigo purple, a bronzey brown and a champagne-like beige. The colours look gorgeous and I was looking forward to it working well. The colours look great in the box but this does not translate onto the eyes. The texture is very light and creamy so if that's what you're looking for, you'd probably be quite happy. Unfortunately, creamy eyeliners/shadows crease on me despite the waterproof and no-smudge claims. They say it's cream to powder which I would agree to but it doesn't tend to stay on for long. I like my makeup to stay on as I don't have time or the inclination to do touch ups during the day/night. The hue and density of the product on the face is light at best. Perhaps the lighter shades would be best used for on the bottom lid as a highlighter? I'll continue playing as I am a firm believer in Smashbox having quality products but as for an intense product, better to look elsewhere. Most probably back to Bobbi Brown for me. I wouldn't buy this again as I think pencils do a better job of highlighting and there are better eyeliners out there.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Galderma - Benzac AC 5 (benzoyl peroxide gel 5%)
rated 4 of 5
missmei 4/20/2011 2:48:00 AM

Ahh Benzac - this is my last topical resort for acne. It's good on infected skin however it is very drying and the long term effects of creating a really dry skin environment aren't the greatest. Long term, your skin needs oils to maintain happy, healthy skin. Benzoyl peroxide needs to be paired with a great moisturiser. I find it's better on hormonal based acne, especially when they become infected. It's cheap and chips and lasts a long time. I tried Duac (benzoyl peroxide with antibiotics) but found it was just too abrasive on my skin. I personally can only use this once every few days to avoid upsetting my skin. My skin tends to be on the dehydrated side and it breaks out if I play around with the skin's balance too much. It's a really good product to have on hand if you don't suffer from acne constantly as well.

Concealers -Unlisted Brand - Nude By Night Flawless Concealer
rated 4 of 5
missmei 4/20/2011 2:36:00 AM

I'm so excited that Nude By Nature has expanded its makeup line. It's filled a nice void in the Australian market. It is a liquid mineral concealer. The great thing about this brand is how skin and body friendly these products are ie - no parabens, silicone free and no SLS. It does have fragrance but I find that this does not irritate my sensitive skin. Luckily, this also does the job - unlike a lot of other natural formulations. Not to mention that it's Aussie made and owned. I use this as my under eye concealer mainly. I figure that if the eye area is delicate, the makeup you use around your eyes should be as kind as friendly as possible. I was previously using TheBalm concealer. While it is a fantastic product, it's not the most natural. Glad Nude by Nature came to the party and brought out more products out. The Flawless Concealer is a medium-thick consistency and comes in a squeezey tube - great hygienically! It is very easy to use, just squeeze some on the back of your hand. I find that using the finger pad of my ring finger works better than a brush. The coverage is on the heavier side and is buildable. It blends well and stays on all day, especially if you set it with the Mineral Veil. Just a word of warning to apply little by little as it can appear chalky if caked on. I don't have really dark circles under my eye but it does need some help looking the same colour as the rest of my skin. It dries instantly if you use a thin layer (which is great) and has a flawless finish as the name implies. It saves so much time when you're getting ready in the morning. No fiddling around to get a natural finish. It smells nice. It retails at $19.95AUD for 15mL. A little goes a long way. It comes highly recommended and is a great, natural, competitive product that gives a lot of other concealers a run for their money. It does not feel too heavy like Bobbi Brown's concealer and is much kinder on the body by way of ingredients. My only gripe is the colour selection. They only have 3 colour choices in their concealer and the dark would better be described as a mid-medium. I'm guessing people with real alabaster skin will love the Light hue. Being based in Australia, you would think that they would have darker and more tanned shades. Maybe more to come? I hope so!!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - ASAP Super C Serum
rated 1 of 5
missmei 4/20/2011 2:11:00 AM

Why, oh why, did they change their vitamin C serum to this one?! THE OTHER ONE WAS PERFECT JUST THE WAY IT WAS! IMO, I feel that this is very much so an inferior product and I am exceptionally disappointed! This product has LESS vitamin C as well as being silicone based. For those with acne prone skin that gets irritated and clogged easily, like mine, this product will irritate your skin and cause some pretty nasty break outs. The previous product - Vitamin C Renewal Serum, was water based and came in a fabulous glass bottle with a stopper. All you needed was one drop that spread easily all over your face. It was well absorbed and had a 23% of L-ascorbic acid. This used to last me about 9 months using 1-2 drops every night. It never irritated my acne and helped heal my scars and pigmentation. Since it was water based, my skin loved it! While the 'improved' version comes in an airless pump dispense, it does not spread far so you need to use more product. It also only has 20% of vitamin C. They have added Idebenone in attempts to make up for the reduction in vitamin C. I am not game enough to try it to see its effects as I have come so far with keeping my skin healthy that I just won't put inferior, cheap silicone based products onto my face. It is expensive but not as expensive as other vitamin C serums. It think RRP is $79 for 30mL. Save your money and look for water based ones. Unfortunately, bad move by ASAP. They had a great product. Its replacement pales in comparison to their original product. What a shame!!!

Fragrances -Paris Hilton - All Products
rated 5 of 5
missmei 2/8/2011 5:39:00 AM

I don't love Paris Hilton or that the fact that she is famous for nothing. However, I do love this perfume! It's fresh, fruity and flirty! It smells more like a spritz and doesn't have that heavy perfume smell. I always get told that I smell nice when I wear this. People are as equally surprised as I was when I found out which perfume it was. This is def one of my favourites!!!

Pressed Powders -Natio - Soft Focus Mineral Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5
missmei 1/15/2011 11:24:00 PM

What's not to love in this product?! In addition to the fantastic benefits of minerals, this product has no talc and comes in a compact! It is great for travel and is less than $20AUD. I love this powder. The name says it all. The finish is soft, luminous and natural. Ingredients: Mica, Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone, Zinc Oxide, Dimethiconol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77489, 77491, 77492, 77499), Titanium Dioxide, Ultramarines. Talc tends to make me look chalky. Funny because this product actually contains chalk but it doesn't look like it or unnatural. Maybe it's in the fine processing and high mica content. I don't love the idea of dimethicone in here as silicones generally irritate my skin by clogging it up or by becoming itchy. I hate how products that aren't meant to irritate you contain silicone which is a big no-no for acne prone skin!!!! The reaction is usually quite immediate but I do not have a sensitivity to this product. Yay for me!!! I find the cover sheer but buildable. It is not enough to be concealer for acne scars or dark circles under the eyes. I really like this for weekend wear and it looks like you aren't wearing anything at all. It's the kind that you could also take with you for touchups on nights out. The powder looks lighter in the box but 'medium' is the perfect blend for me. Not to mention, mineral makeups blend in and work with your natural skin tone. There are 4 shades and I find that the 'tanned' versions are more pink than the normal light and medium. It controls oil and shine well and I just love that I've found this! Packaging is good, the case closes properly and stays that was in the bag. It also comes with a big shiny mirror. As with all minerals, they had the added bonus of having SPF. It has jojoba, vitamin C and vitamin E in addition to the minerals. It also has kaolin which is a clay used for absorbing oils. It reflects well and has a lovely luminous finish to it. You could use it on top of your liquid foundation but I like it by itself. Like I said, mine is more for travel, weekend and touch ups.
